Never buy here. Go to Crown in Chattanooga

by Camden on 05/01/2021

Either the Sales Manager is Switch and Bait or he doesn't listen. Either way I told him the price and features that were critical for to buy a car and he priced me into a lower trim to save me money. Except, I later learned.... thankfully before I signed.... that the package he was selling me was missing safety features I told him were essential. He assured me it had everything.... it was missing two things he said I would have. Scary....

Great experience

by slong0102 on 07/16/2016

Worked with Larry Bonito on my new Legacy. Couldn't have been happier. He was knowledgeable and professional and there really was no pressure. I left very happy with both the car and the terms.

Do NOT go to Grayson for a used vehicle

by SWest6929 on 05/05/2016

My wife and I have gone to this "dealer" twice to look a car for our 16 year old daughter. Both times the cars we look at were low quality vehicles. Somehow we needed up talking with the same sales person (C L Murray). On the first trip, I mentioned that the car we drove seemed to have a vibration with the engine. Mr. Murray's response was simply they do not check the used cars for driveability only safety. We went again last night to look at a 2007 Sentra. I was dealing with other people up to the point of arriving at the dealer's lot. The sales manager told me to speak with C L Murray when I arrived. When we saw who he was, we both looked at each knowing this was not going to be good. We went out to look at the car. My wife looked inside and saw that the car was very dirty, which didn't show up in the pictures online. Mr. Murray response was these used cars need a little TLC. When I looked in the trunk, there was a wire hanging down. I went to open the hood, but the hood release would not work, so we could not get a look at the engine. When I started up the car, the dash lit up with warning lights including the check engine like. At that point, we just went back inside and said we weren't interested. Mr. Murray preceded to tell us that we should not expect anything better for the price we were looking to spend. My wife told him we expected him to be a salesman and he respond that he expected us to be a customer. We were customers, but we are not interested in a car that is a piece of junk. Grayson should be embarrassed to have that car on their lot. Let only have the price listed for $5990. That's a joke. That car is not even worth $3000 in the condition it is in. If you are looking for a used car, you definitely DO NOT want to go to Grayson and you definitely DO NOT want to work C L Murray. He is [non-permissible content removed]!!!

good experience

by 1234570 on 02/11/2016

I purchased a used vehicle from this dealership in jan of 2016. It was a good experience and I believe that I received a good price on the car. The salesman Mr. Blevins that was working with me was very courteous and helped me cut thru the chase. We were in and out in less than 2 hours with a good deal!

See Sydney McLean

by motocash on 08/30/2015

I just purchased my second new Subaru from Sydney McLean and couldn't be happier. I ordered a WRX months ago and now I just purchased a Crosstrek to match. Sydney will go out of her way to help you with your purchase. She was able to coordinate all sorts of non dealer add-ons such as hitch and window tinting vendors prior to delivering the car and will follow up to make sure you are happy. A professional attitude with attention to detail. I couldn't be more pleased.

Another Good Experience

by bruce_g1 on 04/20/2015

I have been a Subaru owner for more than 30 years and Grayson has sold and service my last 5. I just bought a 2015 Forester and the sales experience was low stress and I'm happy with the deal. My sales guy (John Myers) listened to my wants and needs, explained my choices and allowed me to pick. Great job. The service department confirmed my reliability beliefs. Good Job!

Grayson subaru

by susieparrish on 02/11/2015

My experience with Grayson Subaru was a pleasure, My sales agent was Sydney McLean and she was very personable and informative. She understood what I was looking for and what amount I was willing to spend, She took this information and found me the perfect car for the price I wanted to pay, Sydney took the time to help me choose a custom leather so I would have everything I wanted! This made buying a car fun, instead of the chore I was especting!

Buy your next car here!!!!

by KariHolt on 01/25/2015

My husband and I researched tons of vehicles before we decided a Subaru would be the best. Once we decided on that we emailed a few dealers including Grayson. From most of the dealers I got a response of a copy and pasted webpage and a copy and pasted paragraph stating prices, links to pictures, etc. Not from Grayson. Sydney emailed me back an actual email! She was fast to answer any of my questions and extremely personable. We sent around 20 emails in a six hours period of her just giving me information and answering questions. She was not at all overbearing or 'pushy.' She was laid back and sincere. I was so impressed that I drove from Chattanooga to Knoxville. I pasted at least two Subaru dealers in the way. It was all worth it. The service was great start to finish! When I arrived she knew what I wanted, test drive it, did paperwork, and I was on my way. Great service, great price, great promotions, they have it all. Sydney was also very knowledgable and was able to give usually information and tips! NO COMPLIANTS!!!

Fine salesperson but trade in value rip off.

by crmark on 08/20/2014

My wife purchased a new Subaru and I was unable to be present throughout the process. Sydney M. did an excellent job in helping her determine which Forester model to purchase and was very knowledgeable, energetic and enthusiastic as well as reassuring to my wife. Sydney even demonstrated the Eyesight safety features with a cardboard box in the parking lot- exciting! The deal had pretty much been made before I could arrive and to be honest I had not done due diligence in estimating the trade in value of our car. Consequently, and in hindsight we were basically ripped off by $1000 or more on our trade in value though the price for the new car itself seemed fair. The whole process was very time consuming mainly because it was a busy Saturday and they were short one finance person, and the finance person we dealt with continually reminded us of this fact and of how overburdened he was. He still managed to find time to deliver his sales spiel and we suckered into purchasing an extended warranty- not something I typically do. At the end of the day it is still a car dealership after all. Had some contact with Seth H. via email as he does internet sales and he was helpful and attentive for the most part. All in all I've had worse car buying experiences... And I've had much better. We are pleased with the car!

Buyer beware!

by oh4agooddealer on 06/04/2013

Bought a new car for my 22 year old daughter. Negotiated a price orally with the manager. Then while I was in the restroom, salesman had my daughter sign paperwork that was two thousand dollars higher than agreed to price. Was not shown paperwork until an hour or more later so that I did not know that this had occurred. The manager and salesperson were manipulative and deceptive. Buyer beware!

Avoid Grayson Subaru

by knoxknight on 09/02/2009

I purchased a used. WRX here because, at the time, no one else had what I was looking for. I've negotiated/purchased many cars with other dealers, and the only time I've seen behavior this unscrupulous was at a small, shady plaid-jacket used car lot. My main gripe is they charged me a huge non-refundable detailing fee to detail the car and hold it overnight. They also were very persistent about trying to sell other services, such as extended powertrain warranties, etc., and wouldn't let the subject drop, no matter how many times I said no. They were also not forthcoming about a collision with a deer which I discovered on carfax- although they admitted they had known about it. They were sure to let me know that someone else was looking at it and could make an offer any second. Given the rest of my experience, I doubt this was true. I'm not sure if they did the bumper repair, but the repair was so shoddy that within weeks, the paint had literally completely fallen off two plastic bumper components. Grayson graciously offered to fix it- for $700+ dollars! I will never return to Grayson, except to look at the new Subaru line. Subarus are great cars -mine still runs like a top at 80k miles with no malfunctions, but when it's time to buy again, I'm going to take my money elsewhere.

Very manipulative sales techniques

by rathycodes on 08/24/2009

We decided to take part in the clunker deal and visited Grayson Subaru on the Friday night before the deal was to end. We were told at that time, that there was a whole new truckload of new Forrester's and Outback's to be delivered the next day. We were also told that if we couldn't find what we wanted that they could find it for us and have it there in 2-3 days. So we arrived Sat morning and took our time test driving several models and decided on what we wanted. We knew that they didn't have what we wanted on the lot so they began trying to find us what we wanted, They offered one with a lot more frills (and cost) that what we wanted to pay so we made a counter-offer on it. And then we sat, and sat, and sat waiting for the sales manager to decide if he was even going to consider our counter offer. When they finally came back - they told us that that one was 'just sold'. Then there was another....sold before we could conclude an offer/counter. Then, right when we were ready to say - find us one and call us Monday, a 'bulletin' from the 'Government' came in and it said that they had to sell the cars on the LOT, and they could not get one from another dealer. The 'truckload' of new cars was 'seen' by the salesman going down the road but he must have 'missed' the turnoff. The truck never arrived (and we were there from opening time to close). Long story short -- we were maneuvered into a car we really didn't want. Of course, in the end we made an impulsive decision because of the 'clunker' deal but we were lied to all day long and looking back on it we were silly to have believed the nonsense they were telling us: the truckload of new cars to be delivered; that we would be able to get whatever we wanted - it would just take 2-3 days; the government 'bulletin'; and the the sales manager that couldn't make a decision- taking 45 min+ to consider a counter offer and routing ALL decisions through 1 person. Extremely frustrating experience. At the end of the day -- I believe we were manipulated at every turn....and right into a car we really didn't want (a manual transmission). Advise going somewhere else - or better still- make sure you have time to do your actual shopping online.
