Exhausting experience to say the least.

by KianaBotz on 10/09/2018

This was such a draining experience, I walked away feeling taken advantage of and completely exhausted from having to fight tooth and nail for every little thing. Drove down from Portland to see a used 4Runner, told the salesmen the amount I had to spend before I got there so there wouldn’t be any wasted time, he told me that he could do that if I came that day. He sent me more pictures in the pictures there was a rack on the vehicle that I asked about and was told that it was included with it, got there and test drove the vehicle, the rack was gone, when I asked him about it he acted confused like he didn’t know what I was talking about, the car had not been detailed yet or had the outside attended to and had some small dings in a couple places on the outside, when asked about this the salesman told me that since they had just received the vechile it hadn’t gotten the chance to go through the whole process they usually do (getting fully detailed, having the dents removed) but was told that this would be taken care of if I bought it. I asked about service and to see the maintenance done on the vechile because the check engine light was on, I was told that the light had gotten left on after they preformed their last service and just needed to be reset, I told him I wanted a mechanic to do a full inspection on it and that I wanted to reiterate that if I did decide to purchase the vehicle it would be detailed and the dents removed because the dents where a big deal to me. I was again told that yes that would happen. Took the vehicle to my mechanic, battery tested bad, the full maintenance hadn’t actually been done on the vechile, just an oil change and that’s why the light was on, there was a bearing that needed to be replaced (few hundred dollars) and a few other minor things. Told the salesman about these things and was told he would speak to his manager about all of it. After going back and forth with the dealership I was told that since I was getting such an “amazing deal” on the car (wasn’t really, car was marked up over $900 than the high end of the fair market range) that they wouldn’t fix any of the problems found but that they would fill up the gas tank for having to drive back and forth so many times between Portland and Albany (already spent $80.00 in gas on top of the inspection cost). After much debating I decided to go to the dealership and continue purchasing the vehicle. After I got there the salesman told me that they would now not be fixing any of the dents, this was a big fight because he had already told me that was going to happen and that was standard for all their pre-owned vehicles. I reminded him of this and he completely ignored me and kept just talking about the paperwork that needed to be done, I finally had to say that I wasn’t going to keep talking about the car if he didn’t address the dents and him telling me they would be fixed along with the vehicle getting detailed (engine was filthy as were all the inside windows) he then tried to tell me that he did not say that. After much deliberation with him, then his manager they would not budge on the dents being removed and told me that they would let me take it to their dent guy and get it fixed at their pricing (gee, thanks). I then had to fight with them about getting the vehicle detailed. The way I was being treated it was like I was coming in there to buy a $1,000 car, this car was $28,000 dollars! At the end of this long ordeal and after much deliberation I decided to buy the vehicle. I was told to leave the car there overnight so they could send it down the road to their detail shop and have it detailed and ready for me first thing the next morning. Next day came around and I headed down, I let them know I was on my way to confirm the car would be ready to go by the time we got there (over an hour drive) got no response until we were about 20 minutes away saying the car wasn’t going to be ready. When we got there the car was in the back of the lot getting cleaned out by some workers and not at the detail shop. Again spent hours at the dealership waiting for them to finish paperwork and get the vehicle ready, which I was told was going to be done and that the paperwork was all done since I spent hours the night before doing the paperwork.. came out to find that my vehicle wasn’t fully detailed, just the engine had been sprayed off, windows cleaned, and mats vacuumed. I was so drained from the days of fighting and spending hours there that I didn’t even have the energy to fight about them promising to have the car professionally detailed at the detail shop. I walked away not even excited that I had a new (to me) car. I was treated the whole time like I was dumb and didn’t know what was going on. My dad is an engineer and mechanic and I actually know more than a lot of people about cars. I also found this dealership through my military car buying program and was very disappointed that this was supposed to be the “special service treatment” for the car buying program. I think the thing that makes me the most mad is being lied to and being told that something was going to happen and then just totally going back on it. The next car I will be buying will be brand new just so I don’t have to deal with any of the used car dealership struggles and it will not be from this dealership.

Amazing Experience from a Skeptic

by MrsHull on 09/07/2018

I don't feel compelled to write review often, but the guys at Albany CDJR deserve every one of those 5 stars. Major shout out to our salesperson, David. Also to Dustan, Brett & Nick. We appreciated you all staying late last night so that my husband could get his pickup. They all played a major roll in earning our business and boy did those poor guys have to earn it. Between my family and I, we only do business with 2 dealerships and for good reason. When we found out that these guys had the exact pick-up my husband wanted, I was not thrilled. Yeah, they had changed ownership since MTM, but were they really that much better? I really did not think it was worth our time or money to figure it out. But, alas, they truly were the only ones that had the exact pick-up on hand that my husband has been looking for for months and neither of our regular trusted dealers were much help. I decided to go test the waters before I let my husband loose to shop, so I went in by myself to get the info on this pick-up. David was so incredibly helpful and not only got me all the information I needed to crunch numbers at home and prepare to come back, but he also found us an even better pick-up that fit my husbands needs way better than the first one. So, after being impressed with the initial help, my husband and I came back later that evening. The whole process went so smoothly from start to finish. The pick-up was perfect, between the deals and rebates they got for us it was in my perfectly affordable range I had previously determined, they gave us a great value for our trade-in and explained all of the numbers thoroughly to me. We were happy to trade it in because we do not enjoy selling things on our own and they made this process so easy. They also stayed over an hour and a half past closing to get the pick-up ready and for us to go home with it that night. They also did not sell us anything we didn't need or want. Ultimately, I was incredibly impressed and blown away at how truly helpful everyone was that we worked with. DEFINITELY NOTHING LIKE THE OLD MTM & COMPLETELY WORTH YOUR TIME TO CHECK OUT!

Thank you Albany Oregon Ram Dealer

by MikeH on 01/07/2018

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the General Manager, Mark Patrzik, and Sales Associate, Grant Biehler, for providing one of the best new vehicle purchasing experiences. I was at the dealership early one morning to purchase parts for my 2012 Dodge Ram 3500. After getting filters I decided I wanted to speak with a salesperson on the remote possibility of trading my pickup toward a new Ram. The partsman told me sales associates were not in that early but he paged for one anyway. Was I impressed when the general manager came down and invited me up to his office to discuss my trade-in! (Impressed because he was at the dealership so early in the morning close to Christmas AND because he took the time to speak with me, do a kbb-based appraisal of my vehicle and then offer me a VERY generous trade in value for my low mileage Ram 3500 sight unseen and before we even discussed a new car purchase. His offer was 1500 more than any other dealership) Mark P. was a friendly individual, very professional and genuine in personality. We both knew his profit margin selling my trade-in would be minimal but he stated the new owners of the dealership were anxious to develop a strong, solid local dealer reputation with businesses and private individuals. In a smaller town they wanted to compete with larger dealerships and create "customers for life." We then proceeded to look at a few new 3500 options available to me ( I considered a 2017 SLT or a 2018 Laramie. I was again impressed that the general manager was walking through the lot with me reviewing vehicles. ) There was never any sales pressure. I left the dealership planning to return within a few days to get my wife's opinion. (There was no "limit" on the trade offer or purchase by date). Before leaving Mark told me he was leaving in a day for Christmas with family in Colorado. In his absence he requested I conduct business with Mr. Grant Biehler, one of his veteran sales associates with many years of Chrysler Corp. experience. Well, the bottom line is we purchased a new vehicle over the next two days. Grant and the accounting staff were excellent facilitators and I was able to purchase a new 3500 Laramie under the best of circumstances. (I know you are thinking I probably paid more for the new vehicle to offset the generous trade-in value they gave me but you are incorrect. I offered and we settled on a new vehicle price which I would have been happy with without a trade-in!) Grant and his staff honored all the verbal agreements made to me in advance by Mark. This car buying experience was wonderful for me and I encourage all folks interested in purchasing a Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, or Ram vehicle, with or without a trade-in, to visit AlbanyCDJR. They are a great dealership, anxious to earn your business and create long-term relationships with private individuals and businesses. This is a great time to look over their inventory. THANK YOU ALBANY CDJR!
