Gary Smith Ford
Dealership Sales Review
A more detailed review is published on other sites that allow a higher character limit. Here's the short version: 2.5 years ago we got a reasonable deal from Gary Smith. We notice white smoke barreling out of the tailpipe as we drove home.We take it back and they said it has leaking valve covers & the smoke should stop in a couple days. It didn't, and we took it to a mechanic & they said it had blown head gasket. We take the car back & like idiots we let them put us in something else that we didn't really want but promised to buy it back. We move away & since we owed more than the car was worth we couldn't sell it. We eventually return to the area & start looking at their website for another car. We find one &called on it and they knew we were coming to look at it. We get there & the car has already been sold & Chase Hall tries to show us other cars in our price range. We agree and eventually decide. They buy back the "gas hog" as they promised and we appreciated. We find a car that had no price but Chase assured us it was in our price range. We want the vehicle so we sit in the waiting room waiting to see the deal. Chase Hall comes forward with an "out the door" (his words) price on the vehicle which was $3,000 more than the car we originally came in for but turned out to be sold. It was a nicer vehicle so we agreed. We go in to sign the papers and we go on our way. We get the statement in the mail from the bank we got approved by to find a number that was $2,000 higher than what Chase Hall had discussed with us. We review the papers & like stupid and naive buyers expecting honesty at a reputable dealership, we find out that we signed for that ridiculous amount. I immediately call Chase and leave him 2 messages of which he doesn't reply. I call Gary Smith himself to tell him about his dishonest salesman & he tells me to come in to look at the papers. I tell him I'm aware of what we signed & that was not the problem I was bringing to him. He continued to redirect the conversation towards the documents & told him I would be coming in soon & hung up. When I arrive Chase Hall gets very surprised & nervous when he sees me. I confront him & he defensively backs up with his hands up & says that number is on like 20 pieces of paper with your signature on it. I said that you got us on paper & I cant fight you on that. He said I didn't get you [non-permissible content removed]. I said calmly, [non-permissible content removed] for what you did Chase. He then replied [non-permissible content removed] & he proceeded to take his glasses off from around his neck as he invited me outside to fight. He restrained himself & tried to kick me out instead. I turned down the violent invitation as well as the demand to leave & told him I was done talking to him. Gary Smith came out to greet me & we walk back to his office. I try again to explain to him the moral & serious customer service issues I have with how business has been conducted at his dealership starting from the beginning of our experience over 2 years ago. He stared at me with an emotionless face and zero compassion the entire time but kept saying he understood. He had no apologies or responses other than pointing to the signed papers. He did however offer me a piece of advice to always read what Im signing. I asked him if he felt good about my wife & overpaying for a vehicle after all we had been through and how this was all ending. I told him I was going to write a review and he went red in the face as I told him this and it was followed by this statement word for word Dont come in here & threaten me, GET [non-permissible content removed] OF MY OFFICE! I get up to leave & as he is showing me out he continues to scream GET [non-permissible content removed] OF MY OFFICE twice more in front of a small child about 3 years old standing outside his office with their parents in the lobby. I told Gary Smith to watch his mouth as there were young children around & told the parents that the person screaming was Gary Smith himself & to be weary when purchasing your vehicle here. Gary Smith stands infuriated pointing at a door and I walk out a different one. Lesson learned.
