Best experience

by Jsstewart on 02/19/2015

We had found a car on the web my husband emailed and then set up a test drive. When we arrived they had the car up front and ready for us. We had Shaft Mohammad as our salesman and I have to say in all my car shopping experiences we enjoyed this one the most. When we shop for our next car we will be going back to see Shaft!

Buyer Beware.... find another dealership

by nlambert182 on 02/05/2014

We have gone in multiple times to inquire about vehicles listed on the website. Called before hand and were told they were available. After going down, they took my truck for an evaluation "test ride" and were gone for over 30 minutes. During this time we were informed that they could not find the vehicles we were asking about, but also said they had not been sold. One sales rep drove me all over town to their other dealerships trying to find the vehicle. To this day we still don't know where it went. After 3 hours of waiting we finally told them that we wanted the keys back to my truck. The used car manager "lost" them and they spent another 30 minutes trying to track them down. We will not go back.

Don't waste your time here.

by buyer_no_1 on 04/24/2013

Landers McLarty advertises super low prices on their website but when I asked about buying the price was almost $2000 higher than the price on the website for this vehicle. And that was before adding taxes and dealer fees.

Not Honest

by captain_jim1 on 03/01/2012

They promised a couple things they did not deliver on get everything you agree to in writing or they will not honor it. Their word is not any good. I am not sure if I actually bought from the Dodge dept or the Landers McCarty next door. I bought a Dodge but it was used. They are both on the same lot so it is hard to tell what used cars belong to which dealer but both are Landers McCarty.

Great purchasing experience

by kevmcgrath on 12/27/2011

Requested a quote on a 2012 Chrylser Town & Country Touring from Landers McLarty via edmunds.com. Received an email from their internet manager within minutes and a call from a sales manager within an hour (I never received a response from Champion Chrysler in Athens, AL). The manager gave me a quote for the exact model, trim package, and color that we wanted. The price included an employee/family discount, $1000 public incentive, and $1000 incentive from a Chrsyler advertisement postcard I had received in the mail. We then set up a time to test drive the vehicle for the following morning. I had a few additional questions for the manager, who quickly returned my messages. Within an hour of talking to the manager, I received a phone call from the Chrysler Concierge Service in Auburn Hills, MI, asking me if I had heard from the dealership or had any questions or concerns. This was a very nice touch, Chrysler! A sales person was waiting for me at the scheduled time for the test drive. He allowed me to have the car for the morning to check it out with my wife and pair of child car seats installed. They honored the price I was quoted over the phone. We decided to purchase the vehicle and trade-in a 2006 Ford Five Hundred, which I didn't have with me at the time. I was quoted a price on the trade-in without them even seeing the vehicle, which was around $400 below the "excellent" category from Kelly Blue Book. Regardless, this meant that they were buying the vehicle "as is" and I didn't need to bend over backwards to clean it. At the time of the purchase, I didn't have enough funds in my checking account for the down-payment check to clear. The dealer agreed to sit on the check until the funds were available (4 days). I was allowed to drive the new vehicle home that evening and agreed to drop off the trade-in vehicle the next morning. All in all, the purchase went very smoothly and I felt like I was well taken care of. My only slight complaint (more of an annoyance) was that the process from me agreeing on the purchase to securing financing through the dealership to being handed the keys took a long time - around 4 hours. This was mainly due to the fact that this was my salesman's very first day on the floor and his very first sale. He was a bit unsure of certain processes, policies, forms, etc., which led to some errors and forms needing to be reprinted and signed. But, you have to start somewhere and I'm sure his efficiency with get better with time. We've only had the vehicle for 5 days, so I have no opinion on their service department, but based on their sales department, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Do not buy from this dealership!!!

by survivorgreg on 06/08/2011

We reached out to this company over Memorial Day weekend by email. Jodie (internet manager) was the person working with us. I told her what I was looking for and she said that she could definitely get it for us. I told her that I already had financing available and would be at their dealership once the finance check came in a few days later. We emailed and spoke over several days and I spoke with her on Tuesday to let her know that the finance check had come in. She asked if I could come in that day and she would have the vehicle on the lot (they had to go get it from another dealership). I told her it would be Wednesday before I could get there. She asked if 11:00 was okay. I told her that would be fine. We live almost 3 hours away and left early Wednesday morning to go pick up the vehicle. When we got there, we waited an hour before someone came to see us. Jodie passed us off to a salesman who had no idea what was going on with us. We waited and waited and waited, all the time thinking the vehicle was on the lot. Well, it turns out they never even went and got the vehicle. They said they could get it on the lot by the evening. However, I explained to them again that I live almost 3 hours away and could not sit around and wait all day. They agreed to have the vehicle to my house by that evening. By the way, once Jodie passed us off to the sales guy, we never saw or heard from her again. We called the sales manager (Darrin) that evening to see what time and he said that they hadn't actually secured the vehicle yet. I called back a few minutes later upset, and he said that they had now secured it and would have a driver go to Georgia the next morning at 6 am to get it and bring it directly to my house. I called the next day starting at 8:30 am up until 11:00 am, never getting Darrin to call me back during that time. He finally called me back after 11:00 to let me know that the driver was on his way to get the car and that I should have it at my house by 6 PM that evening and that he would call if it was going to be later. It got to be 6:30 PM that evening. Still no car. The driver who was bringing my vehicle called about 6:30 or 7:00 pm and said that he was still over 2 hours away and that it would be closer to 9 or 10 before they could get the car to me and is there a better exit to get off that would be closer. ??? I only live off of one exit. There is no magic exit that will make a 2 hour drive a 5 minute drive. Basically, he wanted us to go meet him. Also, it would be dark by now and there was no way I was taking a vehicle from someone in the dark without inspecting it first. I called Darrin and explained the situation to him. He was speechless. Couldn't say why the driver was going to be almost 5 hours late. I told him that I was going to go with a different dealership and that he could have his driver just return the car back to their dealership. He did not seem happy. We then called a different dealership that was able to locate the exact same kind of car and had it on the lot for us by the next day when we went and purchased it. This was the WORST experience I have ever had with a car dealership. They knew beginning on May 28th what we were looking for. They were supposed to go get the car on Tuesday, May 31st for us. They didn't go get it until Thursday, June 2nd. There was no communication between anyone. The Internet Sales Manager and Dealership Sales Manager were so unprofessional. I will NEVER work with them again.

Absolutley Unacceptable Business Practices

by jrgentry on 06/02/2011

I communicated with this dealership for a week about a particular incoming car they had listed online. I even submitted an offer to buy the car at the listed price. They called me "as soon as the car touched down", and we made an appointment for me to come test drive it and buy it. I took a day off of work and drove 2.5 hours for this appointment. As soon as I stepped out onto the lot they said, "Oh we sold that car, but we've got several others you can look at." They then tried to get me to look at vehicles thousands of dollars higher than the one they had guaranteed me. They also said that they had tried to call me all morning, but I am 100% certain that was a lie; I received two calls during the drive there, and neither of them were from Landers McLarty. I obviously left this dealership. They should be ashamed of the lies they told me and the way they conduct business. I didn't even get an apology from these people. I wonder if they ever even had the car to begin with. They seem like [violative content deleted]. I recommend for everyone to avoid this dealership at all cost.

Very Satisfied

by marlenede on 05/21/2011

Purchased a new Grand Cherokee and couldn't be happier. They helped me find the right SUV (and I'm picky) at the right price. When I was finished with all the paperwork my new Jeep was parked outside, fully detailed and gassed up- ready to go. Friendly people, great car selection and a good overall experience :)

Once the deal is made you're not important

by jenninr on 01/24/2011

I made a deal to buy a truck that I found at a dealer in Kentucky from Landers McLarty. Everything went fine in negotiating on the phone and through email. The problems arose when trying to take delivery. First the truck didn't arrive until 2 days after they said. Then when I made an appointment to pickup the truck they were gone "to get gas in it" when I showed up. 45 minutes later the salesman and another woman show up in the truck. They had not cleaned the truck and despite me giving them a specific time that I needed to be out of there I sat for another 3 hours before getting to the point of filling out paperwork, paperwork that should have already been ready since they had my information from when we made the deal. If I hadn't already paid the $500 deposit to get the truck from Kentucky I would have left without it.

Stay away from this dealership!!!

by lawlady on 09/23/2008

We went to this dealership on July 23, 2008. We purchased a new car from them that day, and the wait was over four hours. Part of our deal was new running boards to be placed on our new vehicle, at no extra charge. We were told 'no problem!' The salesman stated that he ordered them. This was on a Saturday. We were to take delivery of the new vehicle on the following Monday, following a 'detail' of said vehicle. My husband spoke to them three different times on that Monday, telling them what time he would be there. He arrived just as he said he would, at 4:30 pm, and proceeded to wait another 2.5 hours. Come to find out, we were not 'on the list' of customers who were picking up new vehicles! After three phone calls from us!!! My husband was so furious when he finally got our new car that he just got in and drove off. (Maybe our fault???) 'Low fuel light' came on about 15 miles down the road...they did not fill up our gas tank as promised on the window sticker. The following Wednesday i called the salesman to inquire about the running boards, and he stated, "I'm on my way right now to the department to order them." This was still early in our experience with them, so i thought i had maybe misunderstood him the Saturday before. I called the next Monday to see if they had come in (salesman told us it would just be a 'couple of days'), talked to the salesman again, and he assured me that they were indeed ordered, and 'heck, when you bring your vehicle in to put them on, we'll just detail it again for ya and fill up your gas tank! How about that!?" SEVERAL more phone calls to the dealership to inquire about these 'mysterious' running boards, with NO resolve. The third week we owned the car, the dealership called us to have us come back in because they forgot to have us sign a paper. We put them off for a week, waiting for the running boards to appear. On the fourth week, dealership again calls about us coming in, and my husband told them 'I'm not signing anything else until i get my running boards!!!' GM then calls him (we had called him in the third week, got his voicemail, and he never returned our call.) Funny how fast they can call you when THEY need something. My husband told him what was going on, he told hubby to come in after he got off work, and hubby found out running boards HAD NEVER BEEN ORDERED. NEVER. No paperwork on them at all. NADA. LIED to over and over again. Call not returned from GM when we stated to him over his voicemail that we were having a problem with the salesman. But he called us in a hurry when they discovered a paper had not been signed (not our fault.). I will never, NEVER again deal with Landers-McLarty Dodge...not for servicing our vehicle, not for buying another one, not for recommending them to anyone. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to them. They only care about making the sale, and not about the customers at all. I have complained to Dodge about them. Do NOT go to this dealership for any reason!

Unethical Dealer! Stay away!!!

by lemondrops on 07/30/2008

Please read this before you think about doing business with these people! My husband and I found a Honda minivan on the Landers Mclarty lot in Huntsville, AL that we loved. We inquired about the price and test drove the van. All was well until my husband tried to locate the spare tire. When he asked the sales guy where it was, he said, "Oh it's under the floor storage compartment in the van." Being dummies, we trusted him. Then, when we tried to turn on the radio, DVD player and CD player, they would not turn on. We asked about this, and the sales guy said everything worked great, and we would have to call Honda and get the new user code. Again, we took his word for it. Yes, we are too trusting! After we purchased the van, financing it for nearly $30,000, we get home and get the user code, and guess what? The DVD player and rear speakers did not work! And guess what else, there was no spare tire because we find out that the van was equipped with "Pax" tires that cost $1200 to be replaced every 30,000 miles, and you guessed it, the van will need new tires in a couple of months. These people were completely deceitful just to make some money. They told us whatever they needed to tell us to take our money and sell us that van. When we came back to the dealership the following Monday with our complaints (I was ticked!) they tried to "resolve" the problem by trying to take back the van and sell us another one for almost $2,000 more!! Needless to say, we cancelled the extended warranty that very day and took the van to a local dealer that we knew and trusted, and they were able to get us out of the mess we created by allowing us to trade-in and pretty much break even with a much lower interest rate. Follow up---- Landers Mclarty did not cancel our extended warranty after all. We signed the cancellation form 4 days after purchasing the van. A month later we received an extended warranty notification. The dealership never cancelled it! My husband had to personally go up there today, and they said he would have to wait 3-4 more weeks to receive a check through the main Chrysler company. These people are horrible!!
