The Meaning of

by drwebb on 05/09/2010

Evidently the meaning of detail is different at varying automotive shops. When I asked to have my truck detailed, I expected the truck to be washed and waxed, the windows to be cleaned inside and out, all the trim cleaned, the interior cleaned, not just vaccumed, the tires and wheels cleaned, and if the wheels are chrome or mags, I expect them to be polished, and I expect under the hood to be cleaned. That is my meaning of "DETAIL". The truck was basically clean, but.......... 1) the top of the truck had not been washed, or waxed. For that matter, I couldn't tell that the truck had been waxed. 2) Neither the bed rails, nor the rear step bumper, had any application of tire shine or anything similar. 3) The wheels were cleaned, but not polished. 4) The windshild, and body of the truck still had water spotting on it from where water had run down and dried in place. 5) Nothing under the hood had been touched. 6) The interior had been vaccumed, and I believe dusted, but no pleasant odor of carpet, or cloth cleaner was present. And finally, 6) My chrome tailpipe extensions are about 24 inches long, and only about 4-5 inches of the extensions had been cleaned.
