I had a very pleasant car buying experience at University Mazda last weekend. I was in the market for a "new to me" car. After a few not so good interactions with a few other dealerships. I found the car we were looking for on the University Mazda website. I made an online inquiry and within 15 minutes, I had two separate email replies. One mail from Duane and another email from Gray. I scheduled a test drive and that day I bought the car. Gary was easy going, professional, and he didn't pressure me. I felt he was honest and straight forward. Thank you Duane, Gary, and Scott of University Mazda!

Just purchased a new/used car from U Mazda last night. William is an excellent, calm & efficient salesman. Not pushy AT ALL but definitely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the entire inventory. I needed a certain type of used car in a specific price range and he steered me in the right direction. Both William and Winnie, U Mazda's Finance Director, were supremely quick and helpful. The whole buying process was even less complex than choosing a new pair of glasses, honestly. :)

A VERY Pleasant Sales Experience!

We were dreading the car buying process but came away very happy customers. We were lucky enough to work with Gary Chairez. Gary is a pro: he listens well, he knows his products, he was kind and he treated us with respect, and most importantly he did not pressure us. We went in to test drive a CX-5 and returned several days later having tested other vehicles. In our absence, we did not get any follow up calls urging us to return. When we did return, Gary took care of us and made it really easy to buy our beautiful new car. In addition, Winnie in Finance was a huge help in streamlining the paperwork process and topping off a pleasant car buying experience. Thank you Gary and Winnie!

We can't say enough great things about University Mazda, Eric our Salesperson and Duane the Sales Manager! We bought a new Miata, our third, from University Mazda. We had been to Lee Johnson Mazda first and they left us less than enthused. Poor follow up and they were not willing to negotiate a win win deal. We had to 'chase' the sales guy via phone and text to get him to call us back. We always check out the competition and this made us want to more. Eric understood we wanted to buy the car and negotiated in a fair way so that we got a MUCH better trade in our truck. He phoned around to see what the best deal he could get and beat LJ Mazda's trade in price by almost 2K. Totally win win! We got a better trade in price and they knew they could sell our trade in and make money. Eric was prompt in getting back to us and listening to our point of view. We walked in Monday night and Wednesday night we were driving our new baby home! Thanks University Mazda! Zoom! Zoom!

A different "shady" Mazda dealer lead to to U Mazda. I really couldn't have have asked for a better car dealer experience. U Mazda didn't give me any bad feelings after I purchased my car. Often times my wife and I will say "remember that dealership" because of the bad experience, it was not that way here. We knew what we wanted and a fair deal was made and we were on our way. On top of that, years later U Mazda was able to help me out with another situation that left me with warm fuzzy's. I'd say wherever you purchase a car, do research first, and know what you want and expect.

We recently purchased our 4th new Mazda from University Mazda. Ten years ago, when we purchased our first vehicle, Chris Wayne was the sales manager. Chris also sold us our second car. We were so pleased with him and University Mazda that our third vehicle was purchased sight unseen over the phone! Chris has now moved up to General Manager, so we dealt with Sonny this time. He is just as great as Chris! When we first started dealing with University Mazda, we lived in the Seattle area. We now live near Spokane, but driving the 5 hours to University Mazda is worth it. We cannot recommend this dealership enough, It's G.M. and sales people are friendly, honest, knowledgeable, and low pressure.

I purchased a brand new cx-5 on new years eve. I worked with Gary Chairez a few days before via email on the price of the vehicle and was quoted a price a bit lower than expected before even setting foot in the dealership. I decided to move forward on arranging a test a drive and possibly a purchase. Gary was fantastic to work with and, despite being incredibly busy for the day, was very attentive. He was very helpful and courteous the whole way. The whole dealership was very friendly and they really made the car shopping experience an enjoyable one without haggling or implementing questionable sales practices. I walked off the lot the same day with a new car and am very happy with the experience at University Mazda.

I did a lot of research online before finding a low mile 2013 Honda Pilot LX with this dealer. Gary Chairez was the salesperson that we dealt with and we were very happy with our buying experience. We were able to reach an agreement on the price of the vehicle over the phone before traveling south to test drive. Ended up loving the Pilot and drove home with it a few hours later. Gary was very friendly and not pushy in any way. He was a pleasure to work with. Their finance director Winnie Lam was also very friendly and we got through the necessary paperwork quickly. Over all a great buying experience and would definitely work with them again in the future.

Bought a CX-5 because Eric D., the salesmen was super helpful, not a pusher. He was very busy that day with other customers as well, but he still managed to give me a lot of attention answering questions, setting up a test drive. He hand picked a car that no one test drove before(had only 7 miles) The process was only slow at the end of the process since finance person was trying to sell extra warranty and extra services, etc.

I was looking for a car that fits my family needs. After a lot of research Mazda5 was my best bet. Great price, gas mileage, and fulfill exactly my needs. I was not sure which dealer to pick so I decided to check different ones. My experience varied between mediocre to average till I visited this dealership. First I checked the inventory over the web and found the car with the right price tag. It was hundreds of dollars less than the best deal I got so far. I couldn't believe it. I called the dealer and it happened over the phone. Anthony W. picked my call. He was nice, smart, and to the point. He honored the price and assured me the car color, features, and the great deal. I was excited so I visited the place on the same day. He showed me the car, explained to me the contract, and showed me different options. He was very considerate, good listener, not pushing in any direction. I really liked how he came up with a contract details that matched my needs. He stayed away from different dealers' processes to trick the client. With all that, It was very appealing to go on with the deal. We went through financing. Here I met Winnie L. Another cheerful & genius person who knows how to use, explain, and play with numbers. Usually, it's the boring part of the process, but with Winnie it was more than fun. She explained the contract in thorough details. She explained next steps, what I should expect from Mazda and what they expect from me. We signed all paper work. There were some additional offers with incentives. She explained them. When I decided to pass the offers for today, she respected that and moved on with the rest of the paper work. Now I'm back to Anthony. He escorted me to my dream car, handed over the keys, and encouraged me to contact him for any questions or concerns. We shacked hands and I drove my car home very thankful for him making my day after many weeks of search for the right car and the right dealership. I'm really pleased with my experience with University Mazda leadership.

Standard Tactics - Rude Manager

I went in with an offer to purchase a car and a well researched price for my trade in. The first salesman I spoke with misrepresented the sales tax benefit of my prospective trade in saying that I would only get credit for my equity in the car not on the full trade in allowance. His focus on doing this calculation to get to a payment amount suggested to me that they intended to pack the deal or inflate the sales price to compensate. The second salesman used the tired tactic of having me sign a worksheet that said I would buy the car if they could meet my price and trade. I did this but informed him that we both knew that doesn't make it a contract. I gave them my keys to allow evaluation of my trade. They took a long time doing the back and forth dance with the manager and in the end told me they couldn't give me my asking price for the trade in. The sales manager suggested that I didn't understand the math on the value of my trade in or the sales tax advantage of the trade in. (I had asked for the straight KBB/Edmunds.com trade in value). I left telling them that I would try to sell the car myself and might be back to do a straight purchase deal. I extended my hand to the manager and he refused to shake it.

Rude and dishonest staff

This was as recent as last month. I had emailed them about a price promise certificate that I had. The salesperson was cool about it and made an appointment to go into the dealership. When I got there, they were really rude about the price promise certificate. They told me that they could not honor it because they "could not make a profit out of the car sale". They even drove back the car that I wanted because I was "not going to buy it (with attitude)" (yes! I heard the salesperson tell another employee!!). The salesperson (and the person in charge of the dealer that day) spent 30 minutes (by clock) looking at the fine print trying to find a way to not honor me the price. When they could not find anything, they started to talk trash about Edmunds and other sites and how they lie about prices. When I started to ask more questions, they were really rude and confrontational with me in their body and verbal language, and I did not appreciate that. They made me feel like I knew nothing about the car I wanted to buy and had been researching for the last 6 months. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. I wrote to the manager and I am still waiting for an answer. I have reported this dealership to every place I can think of due to rude treatment and lack of honor. I have to IMMENSELY disagree with most of the posts here. I am not recommending this dealer to anyone and will give bad reviews everywhere I can find them. They do not deserve your business. Horrible experience.

Finance person too aggressive

The finance lady was way too aggressive in pushing the extended warranty and service contract. If it had not been for her the process of purchasing the mazda would have been okay. I paid cash so was surprised at her attitude and aggressivness. The salesman was fine and would deal with him again.

Love our new 2013 CX-5

Fell in love with the CX-5 after seeing a red one at another dealer and checking out test drives from the automotive press and user reviews of the car on line. After looking at dealer reviews, decided to go to University Mazda, which was both the closest to home and had an excellent reputation, for a test drive. Eric Demeter was the sales rep, who was most helpful and informative. We were there on a Saturday looking for a Zeal Red Grand Touring model with a black interior and AWD. It turned out the exact model with features we wanted was coming in on a dealer trade in a couple of days. After test driving another GT with the same features, we were hooked. We signed the paperwork on a Saturday and picked it up on the following Monday, which was a painless process. We met the service department manager and set up our first scheduled maintenance. We were impressed with the cleanliness and organization of the service area. After driving it for a week, we couldn't be more pleased. Eric emailed us and sent a video focusing on some of the new safety features, which was very interesting and reassuring. The CX-5 is an incredible car for handling, and we are looking forward to taking it on a longer trip in a few days.

I have just bought my second used car from University Mazda and it is outstanding! As a shopper there is a chance for any dealer to get my business in the Puget Sound area. The difference is the quality of the used vehicles they keep on the lot at University Mazda and the professionals that are there to help you. My salesperson Will Crane was wonderful to work with and made me feel right at home. There are no high pressure tactics here; no bait and switch, it’s a friendly dealership to be in because the employees are relaxed and happy to help in any way. Ask for Will when you arrive and you will get to meet a great guy that will take care of you and your family.

I've always had my Mazdas serviced at U-mazda. I'd rather have my car serviced by a certified technician than somebody who was only last week flipping burgers at a fast food place. Especially when the price is nearly the same. Although the fast food wasn't as good at the Mazda store.
