Bad Customer Service

byAScotton 08/23/2017

I received a direct mail piece, which offered me a trade price on my Subaru Crosstrek towards a new Subaru. I have emailed two of the sales people asking about the validity of the offer and to receive more details, and neither have responded back to me. I have contacted them back, again...and once again, no response. As someone who has purchased a car at this dealership, customer service definitely seems to be lacking, and not at all a priority. I will not be buying from the Winchester Subaru dealership anymore, even if it is my local dealership.

Never Again

byscreaming_emuon 04/27/2017

I'm a firm believer in giving people multiple chances to redeem themselves. Everyone has bad days and should be given a second chance. I've given the Mazda/Subaru of Winchester service department multiple chances to redeem themselves and I've only ended up with more bad experiences. First bad experience was the result of a safety inspection. I actually am very thankful they found a rust related safety issue that I would have never spotted on my own. These inspections definitely serve a purpose. What I wasn't pleased about was a misdiagnosed exhaust issue where I was quoted $1,800 to fix, which really ended up costing me a quarter of that to have fixed at an independent shop. Second bad experience was when I was getting a recall addressed on our Mazda. I communicated with the service department that I didn't have the time to bring the car into the dealership unless they had the parts in stock ready to go. We made an appointment for early in the morning so that they could have me in and out in plenty of time. The upside is I was out on PLENTY of time, but the downside is that they didn't have the parts in stock and it would be a week until they did. Last (and final) bad experience began yesterday and finally finished this afternoon. I had already given up on the dealership and have found an absolutely trustworthy independent shop in Boyce. We are planning a road trip to visit family this weekend, so we decided to get our next required service done this week. While getting the oil change and tires rotated they noticed a large bulge in the sidewall of one of our tries. We haven't owned the Crosstrek for even a year and after examining the warranty information for the tire, we were still within the warranty period for manufacturing defects. Because this was a warranty issue, we decided to try our luck with Subaru of Winchester one more time... Yesterday afternoon we made an appointment to have the car seen at 7:30 this morning. I was assured by the woman on the phone that if we needed to order a new tire, it would arrive next day and we would be on our way. To save time we dropped the car off at the dealership that evening so they could get a start on it as early as possible. The morning passed with no information, so I finally broke down and called the first time at 11:58AM. I was told "Oh the car just went in. I'll have some information for you shortly after lunch." Lunch came and went, so I called back again at 3:27pm. Again I was told the same thing "the car is in the back right now, we'll call you as soon as we have information." A little less than an hour passed and they finally called me saying that we do indeed need a new tire (information that we knew yesterday) and that it will take 2-4 days to get it in stock. Also, they determined the bulge was caused by impact, which is not covered under warranty. While I don't agree with their finding that the bulge was caused by impact, I'll admit that part is up for some interpretation. Their job is to sell parts and services so of course they are going to recommend that I need to buy something. What my chief frustration is that they weren't truthful in their estimation on how long it would take to get a tire in stock and they wasted an entire day that we could have spent making arrangements. Now our road trip will need to be delayed while we figure out where to get a replacement OEM tire, because it sure isn't going to be coming from Subaru of Winchester. We are currently on our 4th and 5th Subaru and Subaru of Winchester will never get another dime from us. We have had pleasant experiences at other Subaru dealerships, as well as independent shops in the area. Places like Subaru of Winchester are going to guarantee that those places stay in business for a very long time.

Awesome service!!!!

by2sibes1houndon 01/27/2017

My husband and I just bought a 2017 Subaru Outback this past Thursday (January 26, 2017) Our Sales girl Haley was absolutely wonderful!!!! We were treated like royalty, and they listened to what we were looking for, and didn't try to sell us something we didn't want. They made sure we were absolutely happy with the vehicle we decided on before we bought it, and the entire process from finance, to getting the tags put on our car was absolutely fast, and painless!!!! We are definitely going back for all of our vehicle needs!!!! I wish I could give them way more than 5 stars!!!!

Fantastic Dealership - no need to drive east

bystumps1on 08/01/2013

I buy cars regularly, and have had experiences with many dealerships near the DC beltway that have all been the same - high pressure games to get back as much $$ as possible after an initial great price was agreed upon. These games leave me happy to drive away from the dealership with no plans of ever returning. Subaru of Winchester was a completely different experience. Not only did they offer me a price competitive with the "high volume" DC dealerships, they made the purchasing experience completely enjoyable. They honored the price offered over the phone, they kept to their word on my trade-in, Gary, my salesman, was thorough in taking me through the steps of ownership and in explaining all about my new Outback, and their finance manager was polite, honoring of my time, and thorough. I left this dealership not only extremely happy with the price I paid, but actually looking forward to returning for maintenance and service work in the future. I know some Winchester dealerships have the reputation of being hard to bargain with on price, but I found Subaru of Winchester in every way to be the reason to deal with them and not drive east. Excellent marks for every part of the buying process. A special "thank you" to Bobby the General Manager, who took the time to check on my satisfaction, and who was true to his word in every way. A fantastic business.

6 weeks and major body damage

byvwman3on 05/24/2011

Took my 2010 Outback in because I had 3 warning lights on the dash. Two weeks later and almost $1000 later it was ready. After driving for less than an hour the lights were back. Took it in the next day. This time it took 4 weeks for the repair. When I went to pick it up the problem was fixed however the windshield was broken and the hood and right rear corner were scratched, bad! The refused to accept responsibility for these problems saying my insurance would pick it up. Unbelieveable!

Avoid this Unethical, Dishonest Dealer!

bylucy02on 08/28/2008

They didn't have the exact new Subaru I wanted, but the saleswoman said she'd locate one. While I was out on a test drive, the saleswoman examined my trade-in, and got very excited about its low mileage and good shape. She told me they'd have no trouble selling it, and she made me a WRITTEN offer on the trade-in that beat other dealers' offers, so we agreed to the deal. It took several weeks to locate my exact car, but finally she called, apologized for the delay, and assured me we still had the same deal. I said I'd be there in the next day (they're 100 miles away). As I was leaving home the next day, she called asking for the VIN# of my trade-in (she didn't get it BEFORE making me an offer?), claiming she "just wanted to have all the paper-work ready" for me. But when I got there, she said she'd "just" found out that my trade-in had been in an accident the previous year (which I never tried to conceal from her), so the value of my trade-in was now $1700 less. I reminded her that she had put her offer in writing, but she said she would not have made the offer if she'd known about the accident. I pointed out that the damage was cosmetic only and was completely repaired, that a responsible dealer inspects a trade-in thoroughly BEFORE making an offer, and that if she'd bothered to ask me any questions at all about it (as other dealers did), I would have answered them honestly. In spite of this, and in view of the long delay in getting the car and the LONG distance I had just traveled, I indicated I would be willing to discuss the $1700 reduction -- I expected her to offer to split the difference, which I would have agreed to. However - and this is where she went from unethical to dishonest AND greedy - she said I would now have to pay $3300 more than our original deal because, in addition to the $1700 reduction for the accident, it had taken her so long to locate the car, that the value of my trade-in had depreciated even further (and she actually said it with a straight face)! Yet that morning on the phone, she lied and said our original deal was still on -- she let me travel all that way under false pretenses. My guess is her management thought her offer was too low and nixed it, or she had another buyer lined up who was willing to pay more. Needless to say, I walked away from that deal and that dealer, and you should too!
