Long story and a bit wordy, apologies for the length:
My initial visit was for a 2009 Nissan Xterra they had on the lot since September and on which they claimed they had done a 400 point check and made repairs and upgrades so that it was ready to sell. After looking it over carefully with a knowledgeable friend I brought with me to help me choose, I decided to put a deposit on it. Two weeks later, I went and bought the car. Upon bringing it home, I noticed that the (good condition Yokohama) back tires it had on when I looked at it initially had been switched out with one-size-too-small tires with ZERO tread on them (this is a 4WD vehicle on which you should never partially replace tires, you should always replace all four at once so as not to mess with the 4WD systems). One day after I got it home, it started making a strange rocks-in-a-can grinding noise when accelerating, and the RPMs would quickly dip down when it finally came out of that grinding stalling sensation. I have taken it to three mechanics, and they all agree it needs a new transmission, which is going to cost me $4300. Avoid this dealer at all costs, they are very dishonest in their practices. This is an issue they definitely knew about, but tried to cover it up.
