Buying a new car can be extremely stressful and confusing. I was so stressed just thinking about it, I procrastinated for over a year going to a dealership. Boy was I wrong. Stokes VW in North Charleston was the first dealer I went to. From the moment I arrived til the moment I drove off the lot in my new car, I was stress free and well taken care of. They took all the confusion I had away and explained everything in detail in a way I could understand. I am so thankful to them for getting me in the car of my dreams that I know I will be safe in. The team at Stokes VW are amazing people and I thank them for everything they did and continue to do for me.

Zero Trust and No loyalty to customers

I purchased a Mercedes GL 450 from Stokes in May of 2016. There was no trouble with the purchase at all. I traded in my Mercedes GLK 350 because my wife was about to have a baby and we needed a bigger vehicle. I showed with a certified check from my bank and purchased the vehicle. After leaving the lot we learned that the entertainment system the car was equipped with did not have a remote to activate the system, and that we had left our garage door opener in the other car we traded. Blane Cook, our sales rep, promised to order the remote for the system and send both our garage door opener and the remote to us because we lived in Savannah, GA. Basically it's mid August and we have received neither. Every time we called he claims that he has sent the opener and waiting on the remote to come off back order. I purchased the remote from Mercedes and received it in less than a week. Blane is a dishonest person, and I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle from this location.

Wouldn't help me....

I took my 2003 Beetle in for a couple issues, oil change, headlight replacement, look at a/c, etc and the desk staff was perhaps the most unfriendly group of people I have ever encountered. I suppose they have enough work and have made their money for the 2014 year. Left my car overnight, got a call the next day, and they refused to do any work I had asked them to do. They stated they could not do the work because the car had been wrecked. What does that have to do with anything...Anyway moved on to the location who works on Beetles in Mt. Pleasant...you should do the same.

I was looking to get out of my current vehicle we dubbed "The gas hog" & "Problem Vehicle" since we no longer have a house full of kids, I was looking for something smaller to fit my lifestyle. One phone call to Stokes Volkeswagen and the wheels were set in motion. Travis and Kevin were able to get me out of my current vehicle and find a car with everything I wanted with minimal effort. Less than 3 days laterI had my new vehicle delivered to my door. What exceptional customer service. Mr. Kevin was my sales associate earlier this year while in pursuit of a new vehicle. He had sold me on a Volkswagen last year when I was just browsing their lot. Mr. Kevin went above and beyond to try and find me a car that would suit my personal needs as well as my budget. When I thought he had given up, he would always come back with another option/selection for me. Mr. Kevin sold me the Jetta I now drive. He is one dedicated and loyal sales associate. I can't say enough about how great the service was at Stokes VW. Kevin S was my salesman, an honest, professional and very kind man who helped me get into a new Passat. I moved from abroad with no credit history, and they worked very hard to get me a great deal. I love my new car and I feel completely supported by all of the good folks at Stokes, including Mike M, Travis W and many other kind faces I met including in the service dept.

TDI Purchase

Went to trade my car for a TDI wagon. While selection was limited I was able to take a meaningful test drive and had a pleasurable experience getting my new ride. Bought a brand new car. Have a problem with 5th gear. Been in 3 times. Each time I sit for 2 to 2 1/2 hours watching my car sit outisde. Then someone drives for 15-20 minutes, comes back, and tells me that cannot find the problem. The issue with 5th gear is real. They will not fix. I am about to start driving 45 minutes across town to another dealership, because the service is slow, the people are unhelpful, and I think that they will not admit they sold me a brand new car with a problem. My advice, do not use this dealership for anything.

Best Internet VW Sales in South Carolina

Having found the VW model that my wife and I wanted to purchase (and having been turned off by our local dealer), I went shopping on the internet for other dealers in the SC and East GA area. The sales staff at Stokes responded to my request in near real time, and provided a quote within 5 minutes. Not only was their bottom line price (including all fees) the best I found, they made the purchase of the vehicle the easiest (and most honest) I've had in over 40 years. Financing was quick and fairly priced, no high presure was used to drive additional add-ons, and they delivered the car the next day at no charge. I have no problems recommending the staff at Stokes as fair, mean what they say, and stand by their commitments.

I was in a situation where I needed a car very quick; my wife was taking our one car to her new duty station in Florida. I made the mistake of going to Stokes Volkswagen, then I made another mistake in trusting them. I was assured that they had found a great deal, they continued to warn me not to buy a similar car from anyone else, because they had seen so many people come into their shop with VWs that had major problems. So when they said they had the car inspected, and even before I bought it, they inspected it again. I asked if it had been in any accidents, the salesman said he "did not think so". After I drove it off the lot, I started to notice things about it that seemed like it had been in an accident. There was a lot of road noise coming from one of the doors, and the bumpers didn't quite line up properly. I decided to check it out, and sure enough, it had been in an accident, and it was a dealership that had done the repair, I can only guess it was Stokes, because on the cars history it was sold just after repairs were made. I talked to Stokes; they said, "it was sold as is" when I mentioned that I asked if it had been in an accident the seller told me "I said 'I did not THINK so'" The vehicle was sold with a completely clean title, but the damage done to the vehicle was substantial; Stokes chose not to include any of the repair history when the vehicle was sold. I was told "you should have done more research before buying the car from us."

Stokes VW caused $8000 damage - Car Repair

The following letter was sent to both Burlington Volkswagen and Stokes Volkswagen. Rob Womack from Stokes called me back saying they would cover the work on the 7th of March, but then stated they would not fix the car two days later. Neither Stokes Volkswagen nor Burlington Volkswagen has replied to this letter in writing as per my request. Ed from Burlington Volkswagen has made it clear that they would repair the car for over $8000.00 out of my pocket. Stokes Volkswagen has not taken any responsibility for the damage to the engine due to not repairing the car correctly. I called [violative content deleted] for Volkswagen Customer CARE asked the person on the phone to give me a statement in writing on Volkswagen Corporation’s position on warranting work done by Certified Volkswagen dealers. The person on the phone said it was between the dealer and me and that they do not get involved. They refused to make any statement in writing or forward me to anyone who would. On March 27, 2006 I was on my way to Florida, when my car started to hesitate and stall. I called a tow truck. The tow truck driver informed me that the nearest Volkswagen Dealer was over 50 miles away and asked if I would like to take the car somewhere else. I insisted that it only be repaired by a Volkswagen dealer who knew how to repair my car. I left the car with Stokes Volkswagen of North Charleston, SC for a week to be diagnosed and repaired. They stated that it was the timing belt that caused the problem. I asked them to replace any other parts that they thought should be replaced due to wear since the car was in their care and being taken apart anyway. It cost over $1200 dollars to repair the car. I drove the car home and it seemed OK. It did seem to be a little off, but I assumed it was break in of new parts and trusted the “Expertise” of the Volkswagen dealer. Within a month of very scarce driving and under one thousand miles the car gave the exact same problem. Seven hundred of the miles were to bring the car home from South Carolina. I towed the car to Burlington Volkswagen who diagnosed the car with timing belt problems again. They stated that it would now cost over $8000 to repair the car again, due to the car not being repaired correctly from Stokes Volkswagen. The service manager at Burlington Volkswagen spoke to Stokes Volkswagen and they said they would not pay to fix the car. Please read and correct me if any part of this is not factual.
