First Car Service

Service not the best

This is the second poor service experience I have had at Smail Mercedes. The last time I went in for a new rim to be put on my car and the service tech punctured a tire. Seriously? Who does that? This time I thought I would be in and out. All I needed was 1 TPMS monitor replaced. The service tech replaced the WRONG monitor. I was told the car was "reprogrammed".. started down the road and my dash lite up saying my TPMS system was inoperable. I returned to the service dept and spent, ready for this.... a total of 6 hrs in this Service dept waiting for the correct TPMS monitor to be replaced and my car "reprogramed again. The ONLY thing I can say is that the Service Manager was very nice AFTER he found out the issues I was having. I was treated well AFTER I spent my whole day at the dealership. I appreciated the outcome but things like this should NOT happen. How does a tech 1) puncture a tire as they are changing it and 2) replace the INCORRECT TPMS monitor? The service dept manager and his staff out front are very nice. The quality of the technicians working here... Another story.

Fast Fix

Bought a Ford Fiesta off of my bf this year and we got a letter there was a software update affecting the transmission. Called the dealership he bought it from originally when we got the letter, but they didn't have the update yet to install. Last week I called again and made the appointment finally. It was about a week before they had any openings (I think due to the holidays, Christmas & NYE). I was there for a total of two hours. It would have been done in about 1hr but they told me my tires were warrentied & needed rotated which was covered so they would do it for free if I wanted so I let them. It was very nice of them to let me know about the tires and I spent $0 to get everything taken care of. They also told me if I needed new tires in the future they would beat any price by a dollar. Great experince here.

Easy No Pressure Experience

Our experience at Smail was actually pleasant. Tim our salesman was not high pressure or pushing us to a higher level vehicle. Listened to our needs/wants and gave us time and space to make the decision that was best for us. The dealership had a very good inventory of the car we were interested in and in the end a fair price.

Outstanding Customer Service

I required my E350 to be picked up and serviced. When the service representative was late (because of difficulty finding my home), Bud Smail made every effort to rectify the situation. It is how they corrected the situation that impressed me. Customer service exists for when things do not go right. I didn't get run-around. I received a direct apology and an action plan. They are the best Mercedes Benz dealership in the Western Pennsylvania. I know this because I have used other Mercedes dealerships.

I usually only deal with Mike Griffith who has always proven to be excellent and knows my SLK as well as I do. This last visit to the dealer was last minute on a Saturday and Mike was not in so I worked with Ed. Ed proved to be very knowledgeable and gave me great confidence in his abilities to diagnose the problems with my 14 year old car. The service is what keeps me coming back to the dealer as I have for over a dozen years. This great service also is why I am purchasing yet another new car from Bud Smail Mercedes Benz.
