Worst Experience for First time car buyer- Avoid This Place
I went to Toyota West on Monday, September 25, 2017 to purchase a car in cash. I had a car picked out in my price range. The dealer persuaded me to go with a more expensive car. After being there for 5 hours they finally reached a deal and financing with my mother as a cosigner. There were issues with the paperwork they supposedly could not verify income. I've worked 3 jobs for over a year. They had already taken a full payment out of my account as well as a biweekly payment that was scheduled. They call me and demanded I come in that day and resign a new deal October 31, 2017, or they threatened to take the car away. They increased my monthly payment and interest rate and asked me to pay a higher downpayment. I agreed because I didn't want to be without a car. The bank was unable to verify my employment even though I provided sufficient information about my jobs. I even called the bank to explain my situation. They weren't listening to me. Columbus Finance/Mortgage Inc claimed I was 'rude and snarky' when in reality I was sticking up for myself. They denied me for that reason. They then required me to use my father as a cosigner. A 74 year old man who has purchased 2 houses. We ran his credit score and came up with a number. I provided the dealership with his information and they told me he didn't have a credit score. Which doesn't make sense to me at all. Matthew H. said he would speak to his boss. I waited for a response and got a snarky text saying I refused to show up to the dealership. I'm being treated like I am attempting to commit fraud. So three months into having this car the dealership has stopped trying to finance me for a 6k loan. They are requiring me to return the vehicle. When I have spoken to the Finance Manager, Matthew Harris, he completely passes the blame onto me. Even though I have fulfilled my end of the deal. At this point, since I've had the car for over 3 months it should fall on the dealership to bite the bullet provide the financing. This is the worst experience I have had to deal with. This is a form of public humiliation since all of my friends and family know that I've had this car for three months. It's a fairly small loan, and I think the dealership should just deal with it. The second I fail to make payments they can seize the car. The payments were set up to be auto withdrawn every week. They have still continued to take my money as of 11/24. This is unacceptable. At this point, they have stopped working to help me. I have been backed into a corner and I do not have the resources to resolve this issue. They are making me return the car. I am afraid they won't give me all of my money back. Big business always get away with doing this to people. I am drained, humiliated, and defeated. They have run my credit so many times, and this will leave me in a worse position than when I started. I have called and spoken with a Manager, he said he would get back to me and look into this situation. I have not heard back. I called again today and went sent to voicemail. I have contacted the BBB and the Attorney General. You need to do better for your customers Toyota West! It's disgraceful!
Toyota West Review
I recently leased a SR5 through Toyota West, and I couldn't be happier with my experience at the dealership and with the staff. Working with Brandon Barnthouse in sales along with Clayton Hill in finance, they both were able to help me with any questions I had throughout the process. I'm loving my new truck and would absolutely recommend Toyota West for exceptional service!
Worst Customer Service Experience - Avoid this dealership
I would never recommend anyone purchasing, leasing or servicing a vehicle from this dealership. I had the worst customer service experience with Toyota West and Andrew Wilson who was the sales person. I returned my leased vehicle, then leased a new one. Later on, I was charged by TFS over $150 for not returning the spare keys of the returned vehicle for which I actually did. Andrew Wilson acknowledged that this was a mistake on their part. A month after, I made a follow up on the issue but he said there is nothing they can do. Basically, he said "this is our mistake due to a miscommunication between my sales manager and me", which caused me to pay TFS $150 plus taxes, and that he said "there is nothing else I can do for you". You can't even refund $150 to a customer for a mistake you did? What an excellent customer service. Never go to this dealership. In addition, he led me to turn in my old lease vehicle and to get a new vehicle. My concern back then was that I just paid my month's lease payment 2 days prior, so if I have to turn the vehicle in I would only turn it in after I maximize the month's lease. But he convinced me that I would get a pro-rated refund for the days of the month after I terminate the lease. I never got a pro-rated refund and he denied we had this conversation or agreement. Very unprofessional and dishonest. You just lost future businesses with me, my friends and my colleagues.
Great experience getting my first 5,000miles maintenance on my Corolla.
Be ready to sit for a while!
This is the second time I have went. In for an oil change with an appointment anit has taken an hour and forty minutes for an oil change. Both times I've been told they forgot about me waiting for my truck
I took my car a 2015 Toyota Venza in for it's 15,000 mile maintenance service and Mike the service representative met me and discussed with me what they would be doing. I also informed him that the front wiper blades needed to be changed. Everything was done in the 45 minute time limit that I was told. I have always been treated as a valued customer at Toyota West. I am sorry that Toyota is no longer making the Venza as this is my second Venza and it as been a very reliable and comfortable car.
Good service. On time. Fast and clean. Jordan was great.
Remedy for Airbag Recall
I took my Toyota Matrix to the dealership, Toyota West, to get whatever repair that needed to be performed due to the Airbag Recall.. I had called earlier and was advised to bring the car into Toyota West's Service for assessing what parts are needed since each car would need specific parts. I was informed there is no need to schedule an appointment at this time. Once the parts arrived, I can, at that time, schedule for the parts-replacement. To my pleasant surprise, after about 1/2 hour the service rep. informed me that the shop has the necessary parts and that it would take about an additional 1/2 hour. It was completed and I was on my way. In addition to the needed repairs, the shop also checked the usual stuff, and provided me with a list what what was checked and actions taken. I was very happy with my overall experience. In addition the service rep. responded to my query that the cost of oil/filter change at mileage intervals would cost about $60, including tire rotation. Whereas it used to cost me about $120 for such intervals, with the new pricing structure I may go back to Toyota West for such preventive maintenance work.
Tim Newland , Great Service Department. They are the Good!
I am very pleased with the Service Department. They are very friendly and very quick on the service needed. I will be back! Its a pleasure to come here!
In June 2013 I purchased a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE and have experienced a series of TERRIBLE events since. First, when I purchased the car it had barely any gas, scratches on the surface and the trunk was trashed. When I took it back to have the scratches buffered and trunk cleaned I was told to be there by 10am (I arrived at 9:45) and they didn't even bother to take it back till I complained about the wait. I didn't actually leave the lot till 12pm which is 2hrs and 15mins all for a buffer and trunk cleaning. Second not even 28 days later my starter switch started to go out. When I told the service department about this they advised me that this is not something covered under my warranty and tried to charge me 50%. I ofcourse (like anyone else with common sense) escalated this matter to management and they decided to give me a goodwill repair for "customer service purposes". That resolved that issue but now HERE I AM AGAIN, not even 90 days into my new purchase and I am experiencing yet ANOTHER repair issue. My "Check VSC System" light is coming on I was advised when I called that it could be my gas cap or because I was low on gas. No problem, I fill up my tank, tighen my gas cap still doesnt resolve the "Check VSC System" message I am getting. NOW MY CAR IS STARTING TO SHAKE PROFUSELY and at this point I am afraid that I have been sold a bad car by this car dealership and this company is out to milk me for every dime I have in unneccessary car repairs that I shouldn't be worried about. It's only been 80 days and I haven't even made it to my first oil change for crying out loud. I stopped into the dealer today and had the vehicle looked at by the service department and I was quoted an initial price of $300 to repair what they determined was a miswire and ignition coil (according to Patrick in service) and was told this is not something that could have been detected in the inspection process before putting on the lot for sale. When asked if the price could go up from there I was told that could be a possibility. No discount on the repair was offered, the customer service was terrible and I did not receive any paper work regarding the diagnosis. When I got home I forgot exactly what my diagnosis was so I called the service department to find out and was greeted by a rude lady (or man) named Toni?? She/He advised me that Bob and Chris were gone for the day and that I needed to call back Monday. She/He raised her/his voice at me, told me she/he worked at the desk and was only there to take appointments and could not help me with this matter. I did not understand why she couldn't just transfer me to someone else to simply tell me what my diagnosis was. She finally transferred me to Patrick, who transferred me to someone else. The phone rang for about 2 minutes then I finally decided to hang up and call AGAIN!!! Toni answered again, got an attitude and advised me "a little sugar would be nice" in a sarcastic voice when I asked if there was someone else I could speak to then transferred me back to Patrick. Patrick gave me my diagnosis and when I asked for the number to corporate he told me he doesn't know it and I would need to call back Monday. This place is a train wreck and I despise it!! I regret the day that I stepped foot in this place because its been a complete NIGHTMARE ever since. I will never recommend this place to any of my family and friends, not even my worst enemy.
Greg Is Awesome
Toyota West offered many great cars at extremely reasonable prices. Greg met us at the door and from there we took off running. We informed him of our price point and he was able to work with us to make it happen. I couldn't be happier with the service I received. There was no pressure AT ALL and he really seemed to want to get me into something safe and reliable, which was exactly what I was after. I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone who is tired of scouring the internet for deals and just wants to buy a car already and have done with it!
Great first time buying Experience
Zachary C. provided excellent customer service for me when I purchased, "leased", my first car. I test drove a few cars with Zachary months before purchasing and told him exactly what I wanted and told him to call me in 2 months when I was finished with school. He called me one morning and told me the black Scion FR-S I wanted was getting unloaded off the truck. I drove up and leased the car that day. Unfortunately the dealership did not have the audio component that comes standard in the Scion and I was leaving for out of town. Zachary made sure I got the upgrade and was very accommodating during the entire process. I would recommend him to anyone. He turns the car salesmen stereo type on its head as he put my needs ahead of his. Thanks Zach! I'll be back in 3 years to buy another one from you.
Best Experience at an Auto Mall
My personal experience at Toyota West was a fantastic one! My family has always been a Toyota owning family. This was the first time I've gotten a pretty much new car off of a car lot! Chris W. is the man! He helped my parents and I out in a pretty tough situation; my car that I owned at the time (a Jetta) had been giving me so many problems and he knew that I'm getting ready to move to the state of Texas. He found us the most reliable, best priced and sharp looking 2012 Toyota Yaris! He understood my personal situation with finances and helped me tremendously. Later we found out that we knew the same family and used to live in the same neighborhood! He made us feel very welcome and told me to bring the car in to have them look at it again before I make the big drive down South and if I ever have any problems with it in TX to call him personally and he would help me out in whatever way he could. What a relief it has been to know I have this reliable car now and another person besides my Dad to get some car advice from! Toyota West makes me feel like a big extended family!
Amazing Service,Amazing Car!!
Yesterday i bought a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse after going through so much hassle with other dealerships, i thought that this one would be the same. Greg H. made me feel completely at ease! If your looking for an honest and fair dealership, i recommend going to toyota west for all your car needs!
Car dealer I can trust
I gave John T. high marks on everything because he went out of his way to find a car that would suit my needs at a price I could afford. It's nice to finally find a car dealer that I can trust. I encountered about 10 employees at the dealership - everyone seemed to be personable and friendly. I'm highly impressed.
Very pleased with Jimmy H. used cars sales
We stopped to several dealers in the Columbus area and then lastly we visited Toyota West. We found Jimmy H. who was a true professional. Jimmy did not pressure us at all and his professionalsim and product knowledge was the reason we bought our car from him. This was our best buying experience and we will be back to buy from them in the future.
To start off I will say that my buying experience AT FIRST was pleasant. I was greeted by a salesman who took me all over the lot showing me cars I said I was interested in. He was very nice and helpful. When I found the car I had came there intending to buy I was immediately able to test drive it and was very interested. The salesman took me inside and began negotiating the price which also went smoothly and they worked with me. As a young person buying my first car I was excited because this is a HUGE deal and they were being so helpful.. then the problems began. Upon buying the car I was informed that a motor mount needed to be prepared, I was informed by the manager that if I was going to purchase the car at the price I wanted that it was my responsibility to fix the mount and he recommended me to the automotive repair shop they use and told me it would be $150 FLAT to fix and he could send me there with a recommendation or they could add that to the total cost of the car and they would fix it and then call me to pick it up. So I agreed to go there with their recommendation and get the car fixed myself.. well, after driving an hour down there, leaving my car for 2 days at the shop, they call me and tell me it's going to be $120 more than what I was told. I called toyota and told them about the problem and they said they would call me back, 2 hours later I never got a call back and had to call them back myself the next day where I was informed that they were NOT going to help me and do as they promised. So I drove an hour back to the shop to pick up my car and did not get it fixed by that shop. Waste of time, money, and gas. Next, as I'm looking over my contract I notice they did not sell me the car at the price they told me they would. (I KNOW that I should of looked closer at this but the guy in sales was rushing me out the door) I am still so angered at myself for not re-reading what I was signing but I never thought they would do something like this. I was promised a price (tax, papers, etc.) all included and when I get my first bill in the mail its 1800 dollars more. I was so upset at them and myself. Part of the charge included in that was for them to detail my car, what a joke!!! The "detail" they did must have only involved them picking up the trash that you could only SEE because when I brought it home I spent a good couple days clorox wiping, magic erasering and vacuuming the car out. So much dirt and trash under the seats and everywhere you could imagine, it was disgusting. Apart from that they promised me new floor mats for the car (they didn't fit in the car at all), there's a crack in the windshield I have to fix, the brakes squeak, and I'm still responsible for the motor mount. I'm so disappointed, not how I was hoping to feel after spending so much money. I'm a young person, I have thousands of dollars of student loan debt, other bills, etc. I was hoping for a better experience.
Everything was great from the time we arrived till we left. We drove all the way from Nashville, TN because Toyota West had the only type of truck that we were looking for. Jimmy was a pleasure to work with. He had the truck ready for us to drive when we arrived and made the purchase process an enjoyable one!
Great Job! Very Professional!
We stopped to several dealers in the Columbus area and then lastly we visited Toyota West. We found Jimmy Holland who was a true professional. Jimmy did not pressure us at all and his professionalsim and product knowledge was the reason we bought our car from him. This was our best buying experience and we will be back to buy from them in the future.
Great Job Toyota West!
Jimmy Holland did an excellent job of finding the car I requested. We negotiated the price and they were more than fair. I would highly recommend this dealership.
Jimmy Holland and Toyota West treated me very well. They answered all my questions in a timely manner. Jimmy showed me many new and used cars. He was very honest and knew what i was looking for in a car. Thank you so much!
