After having bought our Avalon and our 4Runner at Ganley, our daughter decided to buy her first car here. The used car salesman was nothing like the salespeople we had dealt with before. He was the type who is stereotyped in bad tv shows. Be that as it may, the Toyota RAV4 that my daughter was purchasing had a lag in the steering, which they said they would repair. Upon returning to inspect the car, prior to purchase, we discovered that when they removed the steering column cover for repair, it had cracked. Instead of owning up to it, the steering column cover was being held on with black electrician's tape. That should've been our first warning sign. Especially when, after bringing this to the salesman's attention, he asked, "And...you're going to let that keep you from buying this car?" To his credit, he also repaired a broken tail light, but his remark, along with the taped column, was enough that we involved the general manager, Mitch. He ordered a new column to be installed, and my daughter bought the car. Now, in the 8 months that she has owned the car, it has been a disaster. The wiper motors, both front and back died. Twice. Now, 4 days ago, every dash light came on and her car completely died. Couldn't even be jump started. We had it towed, on a flatbed, $85 dollars, back to Ganley. The service manager told her 2 of the 6 cylinders were not firing, the O2 sensors needed replaced, 2 coils are bad, needs new spark plugs, and the previously installed remote start was done incorrectly and was a mess of tangled wires and needs removed. (I will state here that the remote start was a huge selling point of the car.). He also told my daughter that she had only put 6000 miles on the car in the 8 months she has owned it, and these problems would have been building up far before her purchase. She inquired as to how this car could've passed their USED CAR INSPECTION process? (In my opinion, if a trade is good enough to be on a REPUTABLE dealer's lot, and not taken to auction, it should pass a thorough inspection.). Neither the service manager, the used sales manager, or the general manager was willing to answer that question, or offer an amicable solution, as they stated, "we already put too much into this car before you bought it." Firstly, the broken tail light and the cracked column cover were their responsibility. Secondly, with such low miles since purchasing, could they not have compromised on a repair of things that were already an issue when the car was on their sales lot? Lastly, the service department will not touch the remote start mechanism, even to remove it, since they did not install it. How is my daughter supposed to address this issue? And the higher price she paid when buying the car was due to the much touted convenience of having that remote start! Now it needs removed, through no fault of her. As it sits now, her car will need towed off Ganley Toyota's lot. Never again will we consider this dealership.
**Update** The car has been towed. But not before the Service man said, "A car like this should've been auctioned. A reputable dealer wouldn't sell a car that had this many problems, even if it was 'as-is.'
*UPDATE 2-22-2018**. The local service center mechanic phoned to say that the ONLY ISSUE with the RAV4 was the electrical wiring. ABSOLUTELY NONE of the other items that Ganley stated needed addressed. The coils, the o2 sensors, the spark plugs, they were in perfect working order. The remote start wiring was corroded and needed removed. The local technician told my daughter that the wiring was so corroded that it appeared as though this car had been IN A FLOOD. We do not get flood waters like that here in Ohio. That being said, the estimate for repair from Ganley had been almost $2k. The actual repair was only $200. NEVER AGAIN, Ganley.
I recently purchased a new 2017 Toyota Tacoma truck from Ganley Toyota of Akron and the salesman and the business manager was very professional and very nice! It made my buying experience a great one! I would highly recommend Ganley Toyota of Akron to anyone that is in the market to buy a vehicle! I can't say enough good things about my buying experience! Thanks Ganley for making everything Perfect for me!!!
I drove quite a distance to look at a car that their salesman Jeff assured me was in excellent condition. He told me that he pulled the car in the showroom, wiped it down with a shammy, and it was in perfect condition.
You can imagine my surprise when I found a large, badly repaired crack in the bumper from a fender bender bad enough to partially tear the bumper from the car. The bumper was badly reattached with epoxy. He also did not mention the car smelled badly of smoke. When we asked him about the bumper, he did not seem surprised and explained what happened.
When we were asking questions and asking for something to be done about the smell he seemed angry and scolding is like we were children. The mechanic said the wiper blades were streaking and we asked for them to be replaced. Jeff assured us that they worked fine and would be fine throughout the winter. We drove home in the sleet and snow and they were in fact streaky. Very dangerous situation that was dismissed by Jeff.
Since we needed a car right away, we decided to go with the car. However I would tell anyone to be cautious about traveling long distances because this dealership told you that the car was fine. They will not tell you the truth and if Jeff becomes your salesman, he may be very unpleasant to you like he was to us.

I had Scheduled a service appointment with the toyota service dept for 12:15 for a simple hand/parking brake cable adjustment. long story short the maintenance pays .4 of an hour for the tech who works on the vehicle.
I sat at this dealership for a little over two hours, confused why my car wasn't done i went to the service adviser (Mike Flanagan) asking about my car. he told me that they just put it in the air on the rack.
after having an appointment already, and finding out they did absolutely nothing to my car after 2 full hours of waiting, im a bit past upset.
the Customer relations manager (Patrick Connor), and Mike. both told me im right to be upset and that they want to fix and make my experience right. a nice gesture but the true intentions to fix this have yet to be seen, and probably take weeks based on the speed of which they want to do anything.
I've never had but one other bad experience with any service on any of my multiple cars, and go figure it was also a toyota dealership. i will not be returning (also telling all my friends and family to steer clear of this dealship) unless we can make an agreement. and i would highly recommend you get your service done elsewhere.

Wow what a wonderful time my wife and I had deciding which car to purchase. Our choice was perfect thanks to Chris,Drew,Patrick, and lease consultant Allie. Everyone had so much patience with us and devoted so much of their time to answer all of our questions it became the best new car buying experience of my life and I have purchased cars from six other Toyota dealers in the past. The lease experience was fast, precise, and understandable. Patrick in Customer Relations explained and educated us on the entire car before leaving and it took the edge off having to learn the features on our own. What more can we say than to mention how these folks removed the stress from the buying process. Car was immaculate when we drove it home also. Buy your Toyota here folks. These people will be the last Toyota dealer we will use.
Dave Bowman was my salesman, and went the extra mile to find the truck I was looking for. He ended up ordering a vehicle out of production, and changing the color for me.This is the second truck I have bought from him.
When my lease was nearing its end, I began shopping for another Toyota Corolla.
I first visited the dealership I'd been doing business with since 1993, but was extremely disappointed.
I told them what I wanted and after an hour, they offered me the exact opposite.
I drove directly to Ganley - where I was lucky enough to meet my salesman, Al Rojas.
He presented me with such an amazing lease agreement, I was speechless - and that was quite an accomplishment.
I can't say enough about that day - just ask my family, friends, neighbors . . . and even a few strangers!
After being a customer of that "other" dealership in Kent for 17 years, I was disappointed with how I was treated.
I didn't realize how bad it was, though, until I compared it with how I was welcomed and valued as a customer at Ganley Toyota.
Thanks to their sales team of Al Rojas, Rance Williams and Patrick O'Connor, my husband also leased a Camry the month after I did.
As I said in the title of this review, we couldn't be happier.
We can't say enough nice things about Ganley Toyota and their staff.
They not only were great when we purchased our new vehicles from them, but contacted us many times after the sale, just to see if we were completely satisfied.
They are awesome!
Have recommended to family and friends and will continue to do so!
I got a terrific used car from Ganley Toyota that hadn't yet had its inspection to be a Certified Used Vehicle. In fact, when I test drove the car, it hadn't even been vacuumed out. Nevertheless I completed the purchase and was given an (also great) loaner car to use while my car was being inspected.
My car was not only to be inspected, but cleaned and detailed at that time. Heck, it was clean enough for general purposes when I bought it so, lacking a cleaning and detailing wouldn't have bothered me much. But they were gonna do it so who was I to complain?
I picked up my car the following day. I had an appointment elsewhere so I didn't really take a good look before I left with it. The interior smelled like carpet shampoo and appeared clean at first glance (but as I said, it was clean to start with.) I was in a rush that day, so I didn't notice until the next day that, quite literally, they had done nothing else to the car for cleaning and detailing except run a carpet scrubber over the floor mats. And JUST the mats...there were crumbs and pebbles under those. None of the rest of the car was even vacuumed. Then I ran some armor all wipes over the dash. Filthy-dirty. Then I found the ashtray (which I didn't even know existed before, LOL!) was full of candy...and in the backseat I found a CD holder with a bunch of CDs in it. So I guess they didn't look at the back seat at all.
And so, since they didn't clean and detail the car as they promised, I wonder...what ELSE didn't they do?
Bullet point facts about our car lease experience at Ganley Toyota of Akron.
Sales person simply did not show up for the new lease accusation appoitment with us.
Another sales woman we almost "forced" to assist us, went home not even half way through the transaction.
Nobody was around to accept our trade-in- vehicle.
Dealership did not honor specifically requested by us, value of a previous lease turn-in truck's tires, to be reflected as part of a new lease contract. We lost money because of it.
Credit applications was not submitted ahead of time, as was promised to us on the phone, causing us and our kids great deal of inconvenience and waste of time submitting and processing it.
Trade-in portion of our deal with Ganley was completely mismanaged, as a result, last bill from Toyota Financial was NOT paid by dealership, but was forwarded to us.
To my specific request to settle some of the issues, I brought up, customer relations manager Ms. Slack, went behind my back multiple times to speak with my husband instead.
Managers did not offer any resolutions or compensations to neither horrible "service" we received, no the financial loss we suffered due to their negligence in their contract preparations. It is the first time in 16 years of leasing experience, including third lease with Toyota...our trade-in contingency was not honored by dealership!!!
Ken Ganley added some personal insults to me and my husband verbally and in writing, basically blaming all the chaos is his dealership on us - customers, who did nothing but put our hard earned money in his pocket. ???
We reported him to Toyota Headquarters. Our experience was carefully documented and added to Ganley's file.
Toyota Corporate Office did distance themselves from private owners of dealership, who may intentionally mistreat customers based on their gender, race or cultural origin. They extended their deepest regrets and apology to me and my husband for having to experience the treatment we should have never received coming back to Toyota for the third consecutive lease, and offered us partial settlement for the trade-in loss we endured.
Ladies, remember the name - Ken Ganley and, if you see it, please take your business somewhere else. In this day and age, female customers must be treated with the same respect and dignity as men, even when dealing with cheap salesman.
And, no matter where you shop, don't forget to fill our corporate Customer Satisfaction Survey. Apparently our opinions do matter.
