The worst and best car buying experience I have had in my 71 years on earth

I spent my entire career in sales and sales management and when I see the incompetence I experienced at Capital Ford it just sickens me and I feel compelled to tell you all how badly Capital Ford treats potential customers. I called Salesman, Gerald, who was referred to me by Sales Manager, Scott McKinnon, on Aug 7th. I told him exactly what make and model of a Ford Edge Titanium I wanted and which options I wanted. I told him I was not interested in financing or leasing options but wanted to pay cash and just wanted the best price he could give me. That was on Monday at noon. By the way, they had 2 vehicles in stock that met my specifications. When I did not hear back from him that day or even by Tuesday evening I left him a voicemail saying I would be out of town for 3 days and would call him when I returned. When I got back Friday night I did have a voicemail from him saying he had pricing and to give him a call. I called Saturday morning and left a voicemail on his mobile phone. I did not hear from him all day so I called the Sales Manager, Scott McKinnon, at the end of the day and left him a voicemail saying I was ready to buy a car but could not get a callback. I asked him to call me. When I did not hear from him on Sat/Sun/Mon I called him Tuesday morning. The receptionist Linda (who was a very positive person and friendly voice) I asked for Scott and she told me he was with a customer and would I like to leave a voicemail. I told her "no" that I had tried that and was not getting called back. She asked if anyone else could help me and I said "no" and "I was just trying to buy a car from Capital and no one would call me back." She told me she would personally give this message to Scott and was sure he would call me right back. I never got a return call from him either. This is after 10 days trying to buy a car from these guys at Capitol Ford. So, I woke up this Thursday morning and said to my wife "I have never had this kind of lousy service from a car dealership ever." She said "why don't you try someone else?" I got back on the internet and found a Ford Edge Titanium AWD loaded with everything in the colors I wanted at Randy Marion Ford in Statesville.. I called the Sales Manager, Chad Sigmon and in less than 5 minutes we made a deal. I went up there the same day and bought the car, paid cash and it is now in my garage. Chad had Don Scott, a veteran car salesman help us and he was also great to work with. Please rest assured I will tell anyone that asks me not to go to Capital Ford as they give lousy customer service. Go to Randy Marion Ford and have a very good car buying experience. They are the Best!

Terrible Weekend- Bait and Switch

Randy Marion is a bait and switch dealership! I went there on Friday because they advertised the best price on a 2017 F150 Eco-boost truck. I went and looked at the truck and decided to test drive. The salesman took me on a very short trip. No big deal. I got him to take me on another one on the highway. We came to an agreement on the final sales price – out the door price. I told the salesman I would be using my own lender. He said OK. As I went to call my lender to have them pull credit. The salesman came back from talking with the Sales Manager and said “no deal”. I have to use Ford Credit. He said had had mentioned to the Sales Manager, but he must have not “heard him”. As, I waited to see if they were working something out, I told my lender to hold on. My lender commented that it sounded fishy. Finally, I asked the dealer, what was going on? I had my lender on hold. The salesman said, I have nothing for you and walked away. I gathered my stuff and left. I then got angry and came back and gave the Sales manager a “piece of my mind”. He actually yelled back. Bad business- he should have understood the customer’s frustration. They never attempted to salvage the sale. They were letting me walk for $1250. They didn’t offer any other vehicles or see if I was able to budge. They just left me there. They deleted my previous review from Cars.com. They have since, changed their online ads, now listing all the possible discounts. They didn’t have them listed before. It turns out they list every discount possible that you don’t qualify for on their prices, to get you in the door. I wasted an entire day there. All they had to do was be nice, and try to work with me. I was giving them money.

Worst Ford Dealer in the Country

Randy Marion Ford, other potential Ford customers should be aware of poor treatment, customer service and lack of respect I have received from this dealer. I noticed they had a 2016 Ford F450 Black Platinum I was interested in. I made a phone call to receive some truck info, many of my questions could not be answered and requested a price drop. I was assured the price would not drop. Priced market value. I disagreed. Two days later the price was reduced over three thousand dollars. I attempted one more time to establish contact and deal. Spoke with CJ, a Randy Marion Ford salesperson. He was very interested in making a deal and a trade for my current truck. He provided multiple email addresses to forward photos and my VIN. I received a call from the internet manager and he too was very eager to trade vehicles. He received photos and VIN, loved my truck and would be back in touch with me in less then 24hrs. The next day I received an email from CJ seeking more input from me in writing such as what numbers was I looking for and he would work his magic, CJ wants me to have the truck and the truck has been fully services. I responded to CJ's email in less than an hour with a counter offer, some additional items I had forget to mention originally and asked his bottom line. After 24 hours I had not heard a word. I called and left a message. No response. I sent another email to CJ, seeking a response. Another 24 hours (total 48 hours) have gone by and no response to emails or phone calls. I will certainly never recommend this dealer and anyone, other then steer them away. My son goes to University in the area and we knows a lot of college families and graduating student who need new or newer wheels. I'm also and owner of a 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum, 2016 Ford Fusion and 2013 Ford F450 KIng Ranch. Randy Marion and CJ should be ashamed.

The culture of helpfulness, knowledge, and unbeatable price that Mr. Marion has created and instilled in this dealership obviously started from the top, and has percolated effectively to everyone I interacted with. I had the pleasure of working with the dealership's manager, Chad Sigmon, who certainly went the extra mile. I had an amazing experience with the finance department. Joey Gallietz made the "closing" short and sweet, while making available the needed financing and extended warrenty. Also interacted with Russel Oliver, who promptly brought me a loaner vehicle so that a minor issue could be addressed. Above all, many thanks to Mr. Marion, for facilitating the purchase of my awesome Raptor!

I was not committed to buying a new car when I inquired on a quote, I came to see the car because the salesman when presented with lower prices at other dealerships refused to bad mouth them and instead focused on what Randy Marion offers, awesome integrity for a competitive business. The whole office worked together to get the deal done, there was no competition among them but instead the focus was on serving the customer. Excellent experience, a great team to work with!!! 2010 Ford Fusion power steering repair

My 2010 Fusion lost power steering at one point and advised me of such in the electronic message system...upon taking it to the service department, Heidi provided her always excellent customer service and the technician, after clearing up a Ford Computer system connectivity issue, was able to quickly diagnose that there was some kind of electrical issue in the power steering circuit system. To correct the electronic problem the entire steering assembly had to be replaced at the cost of nearly $1,800.00. In the process the technician discovered a few other issues that needed to be addressed and did so appropriately. No problem with the end result of a drive-able vehicle as a result of Randy Marion's excellent service department. My issue is with the Ford design folks who in an age of electronics with predictable electronic problems have made simple circuit board replacement fixes into an unduly expensive entire assembly replacement process. I hope these Ford Motor Company design flaws are being addressed to facilitate simple and reasonable cost repairs for electronic components and are not an intentional means to generate parts fees for FMC.
