Wonderful Experience!

From the time my husband and I started interaction online until we drove away in our new Ford Edge SEL, the experience was great! Knowledgeable salesman. Greg was awesome to deal with! Everyone at the dealership was easy to work with and financing was a breeze. If anyone is in the market for a new vehicle, I am sending them to Capital Ford in Hillsborough, without hesitation.

Faulty Oil Sensor Diagnosis

On August 24, 2018, I brought my 2012 F150 (71,000 miles) in to the Capital Ford in Hillsborough because the low oil pressure light was coming on. After keeping my truck for over a week, the service lady called and said I had 3 options. 1. Replace the Oil Pump ($1800) 2. Do a complete engine breakdown to pinpoint the problem ( 15 hours labor just for the diagnosis). or 3. Replace the engine ($8700). She said she could not guarantee that replacing the oil pump would fix the problem. She emphasized that replacing the engine would definitely fix it. I was shocked to hear this as the truck had been running fine and the engine had not been giving me any problems. I asked her twice if it could be the sensor (oil sender unit) and she said that it was definitely NOT the sensor, and my only options were the 3 she gave me. She said she knew it was a big decision and to take my time thinking about it. I contacted the Capital Ford salesperson who sold me the truck 4 months earlier and he said to take it to another shop for a second opinion before spending that kind on money. So, I went to pay for the diagnosis and pick-up the truck. The service lady and the shop foreman were insistent that they had made no mistake with the diagnosis and the sensor was not the problem. He said they had attached the pressure gauge to check the engine oil pressure and that it was low, so it couldn't be the sensor. The shop foreman said he was pretty sure it was a bad oil pump. She was still pitching the benefits of a new engine and gave me the warranty info for the engine when I left. They seemed a little bit irritated that I would question them and take the truck somewhere else for a 2nd opinion. I then took the truck to Firestone and they said it was highly unlikely the engine or oil pump was bad at 70K miles so they looked at it and replaced the oil sensor ($275 parts and labor) and were very confident that this would take care of the problem as they had seen this kind of thing before in the F150. They also did this in one afternoon as opposed to Ford keeping it for a week just for a diagnosis. I have since been driving the truck for a few weeks now and the oil pressure light has not come on. I have visited Ford F150 online forums and several people also said that they had similar problems with the pressure light coming on and replacing the sensor fixed it. This was such an easy, inexpensive, fix and I am surprised Capital Ford couldn't figure this one out. Based on my experience with the service department in Hillsborough, I can not recommend anyone take their truck there for servicing as they are either trying to rip you off or are incompetent.

I called late on Saturday evening and got a call back right away. This was very helpful because I had been out of town all weekend and not had a chance to look for a car. An excellent experience!

We dropped in just for a test drive. The whole floor made us feel welcome, whether we were going to buy or not. Our salesperson was very knowledgeable about the vehicle we wanted (Fusion hybrid) and didn't hurry or pressure us at all. We liked the car, so we decided to buy. There was a bit of dickering but I never felt at all like I was having my arm twisted. I am very pleased with the car and the dealership we bought it from.

Capital Ford has serviced both my F250 power stroke diesel and my Chevy 3500 Duramax diesel. They are always friendly, they provide a shuttle service to get me to work and they call me with any updates on my vehicle. They have always been upfront with me about any repairs needed but never pushy about any work.

After shopping around at several dealerships, we bought a car at Capital Ford in Hillsborough, NC. From Wiley Bass to Jeff Bowen to Matt Horne, the interaction was phenomenal. This was undoubtedly the best experience we have ever had in the purchase of a car. I was torn between two different makes of vehicles and my final decision was totally because of these three gentlemen. Capital Ford has been top notch from beginning to signing on the dotted line. and..... I love my Ford Explorer!!
