All around pleasant experience

I've been looking around for a replacement for one of ours cars and and considered several different brands and visited a number of dealerships. In my opinion Subaru of Morristown was head and shoulders above the rest. Our salesman, Al Rowe was courteous, knowledgeable and no pressure. Their pricing was fair without haggling and everyone involved was friendly and accommodating.

Thumbs Up for Subaru Crosstrek/Subaru of Morristown (NJ)

We have just gone through a very pleasant experience purchasing a new Crosstrek from Subaru of Morristown. This is our first Subaru; we had 2 Hondas. Our daughter just bought a Crosstrek from the same place, and that got us interested in it. We were also looking at the Honda HR-V, frankly thinking that's what we'd get. While the Subaru was somewhat more expensive, we were impressed by its looks and especially the interior quality, space, comfort, and feel. We were very disappointed in the HR-V, which just felt like a slightly larger version of the Fit we have. We could accept the very plasticy feel of a cheaper car like the Fit, but not in the HR-V at its cost. (The Crosstrek also gets higher safety ratings.) We worked with our friendly Subaru salesman, Al Rowe, to get what we felt was a very good price, without hassle or stress. We are loving the car! So thanks to Subaru of Morristown! (But as in any car dealership, be ready for the pitch from the finance manager for the extended warranty and other add-ons. These items may be worth it for you, but be prepared with your decisions about them BEFORE that final meeting.)

Beware

Got offer on a 2018 Legacy 3.6R. Interest rate on the offer was 3.9 for 72 months and $500 dollars for my trade. They could not budge on the MSRP (only $200) because it's the only one in stock. Monthly payments were way too high, so I said no thank you, and that I was leaving. Typical response, "let me talk to my manager". Came back with lower monthly payment, by taking another $200 off MSRP, giving me $1000 for my trade, and lowering the interest rate to 2.9. They were playing the monthly payment game where they trick you into thinking they lowered the price of the car, when they mainly just lowered the interest rate instead. Still said no, and they came back with yet another offer. They were trying to "work" with me to try and get me into the $450 dollar monthly payment range that I was looking for. They did this by trying to get me to increase my down payment and lowering my trade in value to $750. The numbers did not make sense. I put all the numbers they were giving me (including tax, doc fees, motor vehicle, trade in, interest rate, finance length, etc.), into several different finance calculators online. I also put them into an excel spreadsheet that I prepare myself that allows me to plug in all of the numbers so that I can calculate the monthly payment myself (I am a software developer and do these types of finance calculations all of the time). All of the online calculators that I used, including my own, indicated that my payment should have been $20 dollars less than what they were showing me on the paper. This means they were actually sneaking in an extra $1,000 dollars into the price of the car. The moral of the story is be careful when visiting this dealership. It's very easy to overlook this type of scam here or anywhere, especially if you don't do the calculations yourself. Twenty dollars doesn't sound like much, but $1,000 is significant and what they are doing is deceptive. Also, in general, I learned that you should not talk about the monthly payment. Focus only on the price of the car and be sure to get them to list all taxes and fees (doc fee, motor vehicle fee, sales tax, etc). Don't even talk about down payment and finance terms. And after you negotiated the price, use some calculators to verify the numbers.

Not so credible dealership

I've recently purchased a Subaru Legacy for lease. I agreed to a monthly price plus a check for my last two payments on the lease vehicle I was driving in. The check would be to eat the last two payments of my Chevy in order to jump into the Subaru Legacy. The agreement was made in March and I've not received a check to date. I was actually told the other day that I would not be getting a check anymore even though we have an agreement in writing. The dealership is staying that the person who filled out the registration paperwork did not properly fill out the correct amounts and that the taxes came out to more than the payment of the check they owed me so they will not provide me a check due to their error. The agreement was zero money down, $245 payment and a check for my last two payments of my previous vehicle. I was never responsible for the registration or tax cost yet they are trying to get out of paying me the money we agreed on. I like this car, and would considering purchasing the vehicle or another like it once my lease is up. But I will not be coming back to this dealership for their business. The GM I've dealt with is Kevin Gilbertson and he has been nothing but difficult to work with and has lied about our written agreement.

I recently purchased a 2017 Forester from Subaru of Morristown. What a pleasant experience. Al Rowe took me for a test drive and explained the features of the car in a thorough,patient manner. The price negotiations were handled in a gentlemanly,respectful manner. Upon delivery Al spent a long time showing me around the car. Joe handled the paperwork and I bought an extended warranty plan at a great price. All in all, I left the dealership feeling as though I was appreciated and respected. One of the best experiences at a car dealership in a long time.

Great Dealship to do business with!!!!

My wife and I were looking for a new car and found a 2017 Subaru Forester 2.5i Touring which was loaded with all the safety features we were looking for. The car was listed on Subaru of Morristown website. We had been to various car dealers and looked at other vehicles before deciding this was the one we wanted. I am glad we did. I emailed Rebecca Charles (Internet Sales), she was very helpful by answering any questions by email until I finally agreed to an appointment for a test drive of a comparable vehicle since the one I was interested in was in-transit. When I arrived she introduced me to Al Rowe (Client Advisor), he went on a test drive with me and explained all the new features (EyeSight Driver Assist System, Subaru Starlink, etc).Once the test drive was over I told Al that I was looking at other vehicles and was not ready to decide yet. Al introduced me to Duke Snyder (General Sales Manager), both Al and Duke were very pleasant and not very pushy. They said I could call with any questions I may have. I did have a concern regarding the 0 percent financing promotion which was going to expire on 10/31. I spoke to Al about it a few days later and he assured me that the vehicle would arrive on time and that I would not lose the 0 percent rate. He gave me a call on 10/28 to let me know that I could come in and pick up the car on 10/31. When my wife and I arrived Al went over the entire vehicle and all its features again. When we were done going over the car Al introduced us to Mike Viscione (Finance Manager), having purchased new vehicles before we were not looking forward to this based on past experience at other dealerships (especially on the last day of the month). Mike made us feel very comfortable and was very patient in explaining anything we did not understand. We were very pleased with our experience at Subaru of Morristown, the sales group was great!! We look forward to bringing our car in for service, if they are anything like the sales group, I am sure we will be pleased.

I purchased a car from Greg Hazen at Subaru of Morristown after visiting several NJ and one NY dealership. My experience of Greg was that he was a good listener, didn't try to push me into something I was not interested in, and he was extremely detail oriented. He gave me the space to make my choice, and honored that, which I really appreciated! I got a fair price on a wonderful car. When I took possession of the car, he was ahead of me with every question I had - ready with answers and already had done legwork and research for me on other aspects of the sale and it's process. He took the stress out of the new car buying process!

2017 Outback special order

Al Rowe was very thorough in explaining our new car's features. He was willing to match our USAA car buying quote, so we decided to buy the car from him. However, if I had not come in to sign the financing on the Tuesday before the Friday delivery, I would not have noticed that someone was set to take our new car out for a test drive with another customer. We would have hated to wait another 7 weeks if our car had been sold. On our first visit, Glen, the manager, explained that we would have to wait if we wanted to order a car, but did not pressure us to buy. Michael, the finance officer, was helpful in explaining the various warranties available, and was also not pushy. Over all, I would give this dealership high marks for the dedication to their product and customers.

Once we decided which Forester we liked with the extras we wanted, the sales associate that helped us with our car buying experience made sure he can get us the best possible deal and he did so in a short amount of time. After having leased three Acura's over the last nine years, an Audi before that, and a Lexus before that, I found the vehicle I truly love at Subaru of Morristown. It's the 3.6R Subaru Outback. Greg Hazen was the best salesperson I have ever had (and I've been buying or leasing vehicles since the 1970's). He is knowledgable, thorough, returned all calls and emails, and kept me up-to-date on when my vehicle would arrive. Also, manager Duke Snider deserves praise for how friendly and helpful he was. Everyone at Subaru of Morristown went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Buy or lease from Subaru of Morristown!

I test drove the Crosstrek with Greg, and I found him not only to be knowledgeable regarding all facets of the SUV--and added services such as Starlink and SIri--but passionate about his message for safety and value. It's refreshing to witness someone as meticulous in service--and style--as Greg; I greatly appreciate his diligence, thoughtfulness, and organizational ability that all comprised to make my first Subaru purchase an expedient and wonderful process. If you are looking for a car, check out Subaru of Morristown. This is my third Subaru, my second Subaru from Morristown. Greg is the finest, kindest and most thorough salesman I have ever had the pleasure to have on my side. I took my Forester in for service only, really, just service and I drove out with a new car. I told Greg my story and he put me into the best fit for me. Before you go to another dealership, invest the time and energy and visit Subaru of Morristown. Ask for Greg. He will not let you down. Wait until he "details" your manuals for you.

This was our first Subaru purchase. We were looking for either a Forester or an Outback, and visited five of the Northern NJ Subaru dealerships over the course of a few weeks. We wound up purchasing a Forester from Greg Hazen at Subaru of Morristown. Greg was BY FAR the best salesperson we encountered over the course of our Subaru dealership experiences. Not only was he the most knowledgeable, he was also the most positive and enthusiastic of anyone. He showed us features of the vehicles that no one else at the other dealerships took the time to introduce us to, and encouraged us to go beyond the typical "get on the highway for 10 min, and then turn around and go back to the dealership" test drives most places take you on. I would recommend going to Subaru of Morristown and speaking with Greg if you are interested in a Subaru. Like I said, BY FAR the best person we worked with, and we visited all five of the Subaru dealerships in the Northern NJ area. Bob (manager) and Mike (finance) were also great members of the staff that we met during the purchase process..

Smooth, Easy Purchase

I bought a new Outback at this dealership. The sales associate, Greg Hazen was a real pleasure to deal with. His knowledge of the product is exceptional, and he was very patient with my family and I. He answered all of our questions and did not try and give us a hard sell. When we picked up the car, he spent a good 45 minutes with us, going over the operations and features of the car. Greg knows everything about Outbacks. The dealership has a nice, comfortable atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Greg and Subaru of Morristown. They made it easy.

Watch out if you consider this dealership for service. Their price is not competitive. Rep does not keep promise, simply not accountable. I had a really bad service experience at this dealership. Think twice before you go. There are better options nearby.
