Purchase Experience at Seacoast VW, Greenland NH

byjakssonon 01/01/2017

I have just purchased my 3rd Jetta of which the last two were from Seacoast VW of Greenland NH. Both sales and service depts. are exemplary, attentive to and respectful of my needs as a customer. My most recent experience typified the low key but always professional approach of this dealership. My salesman, Erik Murphy, was waiting for me for our pre-arranged appointment to view the prospective new vehicle. As I was already a satisfied owner of a Jetta, I did not require as much information as perhaps someone who had not driven a Jetta previously, however, there were enough upgrades and modifications that I did need some instruction. Erik was very patient with me and did not assume that I knew every feature. It seemed important to him that I felt completely comfortable with and knowledgeable about my new car. The entire purchase process was seamless and efficient. This is a very well managed dealership with conscientious sales and service people. I thoroughly recommend Seacoast VW to anyone in the market for a new vehicle.

AWFUL SERVICE DEPT - DO NOT GO

byTom_123on 01/05/2018

I went there for service and dropped off my car at the dealer overnight. When I picked up the vehicle, I noticed 151 miles have been driven on my car and my gas tank nearly empty. Talked to the Manager, he at first denied the fact mileages have been driven on my car, but after we checked the receipt that shows the mileage in and out, he finally confessed that his employee drove my car home overnight. Even worse, he was being extremely rude and didn't want to do anything about this. I then tried to contact the dealership owner, he ignored me too. DON"T GO THERE! They allow their employees to drive customer's car home and still think it is right to do so.

Zero regard for valued customers. Only care about profit.

byBajalzp21on 06/17/2017

I have had two 3 year leases through Volkswagen. The first I bought. I wanted to upgrade so then I did a 3 year lease at $385 for the VW CC- which for how terrible the car drove, the safety recall on driver air bag which were never repaired and left me feeling unsafe every time I drove- was crazy. I could have been driving a Mercedes at that price. I wanted to give them another chance, yet the $385 for a VW was crazy- so I was looking at a lease for the Passat SE- which retails for $10,000 less than the CC. Yet, when I was quoted for the Passat- they still wanted $385! Quirk Manchester quoted me $125 less a month. For a 6 year valued customer I was being completely taken advantage of. When I spoke with the sales rep EC I asked him to look into it on two separate occasions when he promised he'd call back- yet never did. Twice he failed to get backed to me- like he could care less about me as a customer. Manchester is 45 minutes away so it was less convenient- but the $125 a month difference is huge, and they always get back to you. I could not believe how little Seacoast values their repeat customers- I would not recommend them to anyone. I am going to end up leaving VW altogether after these experiences and going with a car company that actually values their customers.

Exceptional Service

bytreblienon 01/17/2017

I have used Seacoast VW for service on my 2008 Jetta for several years. The car is very reliable and so is the service I receive from the Seacoast service team. The work is done on time and if there is any additional work required or recommended I am notified promptly. Never had a bad experience with this service department.

Top Notch Service Department

My experiences with Seacoast VW service has never been less than excellent. I have purchased several cars from them over the years and have always found them to be quick, responsive and caring. They are courteous and friendly. They actually listen to you when describing a problem and don't just automatically assume what you may be experiencing. They repair the car promptly and correctly. I have no qualms about recommending them to anyone!

The service department at Seacoast VW is amazing. They go above and beyond to ensure everything is correct. I travel over 150 miles passing numerous other dealerships because of their customer support and professionalism.

Not a 'service' department

byGolf_RFanon 09/19/2016

Recently went in to get oil change on my Golf R @ 55,086 miles and was taken back to talk about loose gear box bolting to the shaft drive. The technician said it needed to be "tightened" and also discussed some clutch cable wear. The technician said he aligned and torqued the bolting and that one bolt may be stripped. The clutch is an aftermarket system put on by Prime VW in Maine and in fact is designed to move for the boot system. Sure enough, four 200 mile round trips for work the system snapped and now I've got to buy a new shaft....$1500 + Labor from a real mechanic. I understand things break, but something similar happened to my son's GTI after servicing before we drove it out to Seattle. I normally get service from a specialist because I do not trust Seacoast Volkswagen, but needed the oil change and couldn't get in for two weeks. Never again, I truly believe now the Service Department/technician are poorly trained or not reputable.

See my text conversations with sales

byJustinleepaceon 06/18/2016

I asked sales if they could price match another semi close dealership. They said I need to qualify for that price. I contacted the other VW store they told me that price is for every customer. This VW store then told me good luck. Very short in every response and in no way did I feel like I was speaking to a sales department.

Good service, answer your questions

byEcoDisasteron 05/04/2016

So let me start off with this: I went to another dealership on Saturday a few days before going here, where I looked at a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta with 68K miles on it, listed at 10.5K. That vehicle had no warranty at all. When I came to Seacoast Volkswagen, before I arrived the woman I emailed had put together some cars within the budget I had stated, and the salesperson, Fred, and the sales manager Nancy both explained to me their financing routes and options. They answered all my questions, and when I got handed off to finance instead of feeling stranded, the finance guy read through the paperwork with me before handing it to me, unlike the other dealership which just said "sign here" and got angry at me reading the paperwork. They also let me know that apparently, the other dealership had run my credit 7 times in the few hours I had been there. But, at least here they gave me a local insurance quote to compare to the geico quote I had, and their financing was much better than what I had expected. I got a car 2 years newer and half as used as the one I had looked at previously at the other dealership. Not only that, but they read me through the warranty and answered all my annoying questions, AND when I explained that the vehicle was already a tad out of my budget, they didn't push me to sign for more extras other that the initial explanation of what those offers were. So, even if I did go just a bit above what I wanted, I am glad I did, and it took less time than at the first dealership I went to. I have my new car with me, and I feel well-treated, quite unlike what I expected after buying a new car. I am very glad I walked out on Portsmouth Chevrolet and came to Seacoast Volkswagen instead.

Lazy, Expensive Service

bytrayc_won 04/13/2016

I brought my 2011 Tiguan in because my driver side headlight and bend light went out within a day of each other. Because it was so expensive, Service had me sign an agreement to pay $245 for a new HID headlight bulb. An hour and a half later, when the shop was closing, I was told that they replaced the bulb, but it still wasn't working. They said that the "computer" wasn't talking to the headlight - that they were trying to diagnose the problem, but needed me to drop it off for a day. I was told that there were no loaner cars available, but they should get one back the next day and would call me. That night my brother looked under the hood and saw that the headlight was not connected properly and was just hanging loose inside the housing. They had also neglected to replace the rubber cap on the passenger side light and it was sitting up under the hood. Long story short, after a week had gone by with me having to call twice to inquire about a loaner and tell them about the loose bulb, I arranged for a ride and left my car for the day. Around 4:30pm I received a call from Service - "it doesn't look good" "the connections are corroded" "you need to replace the entire headlight assembly" "parts alone will be ~$1,300". Given the price, I told them not to go ahead with the work; that I would be in with my boyfriend at 6:30pm to pick up my car. We arrived just after 6:30pm and my car was still apart so that I could not drive it home. They offered to show us the headlight since it was out of the car - sure. There were tiny bits of green fuzz around the pins on the ballast and control module. "See all this corrosion, that's why it's not working", "all you can do is replace the entire thing". I asked if they could show me a breakout of the parts and the costs - "no, we just get them from VW and have no control over the price." My boyfriend requested that they clean the parts before putting it back together. They gave me a loaner (finally) and I arranged to have the car delivered to me the next day. Around 4:30pm, no word from Service, so I called. Yes, it's all back together, but we need to charge you for the 4+ hours spent diagnosing the problem and the headlight bulb. I told him (for the 2nd time) that I was not paying for the bulb, because that was not the problem. I agreed to pay 1/2 the diagnosis fee, $160. I specifically asked if they put the bulb back in correctly so it wasn't flopping around anymore - "yes, it's all back together properly". Turns out it still wasn't and the bulb ended up being damaged. I called and told Service this and they said to bring it back in. I decided not to. My boyfriend replaced the bulb again and it still didn't work, so he bought a new ballast for $100 - popped it in and the lights now work fine. Amazing. I am so frustrated and disappointed with this shop. I had good luck with them in the past, but will never bring my car there again. I am a single mother who would have paid them the $1,500 had it not been for someone taking the time to diagnose and fix the real problem. How many times have they taken advantage of people in similar situations?

HORRIBLE

byLoganjeon 01/02/2016

The worst service department I have ever dealt with. Thought I was the only one until our last visit dropping off someone was yelling in service department. Wrote entire review on Google, and didn't include everything. Nothing is good about this place- manager in service seems to never be in, techs don't know what they are doing, and front desk is clueless! Pasted Google review below! Service at this dealership is absolutely a waste of time!!! Do not bring your car here! The first incident happened mid summer, my car had a ripped axle boot. I brought my car in and told them I was already experiencing clicking sounds on a right hand turn. They assured me that putting a new boot would fix it. It began to get worse over the next few weeks so i brought it back saying the axle was clicking at every RIGHT HAND turn, which indicates that the LEFT axle was going. They had the car for a week, with no phone calls on the status of my vehicle, I called, and I called, in which I was told they heard NO clicking and I could take the 30 minute drive, AGAIN, to go for a test drive with them to point out the sound. We drove across the street, straight into the gas station, and imediatly my first right hand turn, CLICK CLICK CLICK, and they were like "Oh WOW! We didn't hear that before!" Next my car sat there for another WEEK, they called me and said it was all set, my new axle was put in. I take the car home, and take a right hand turn off the highway exit- guess what happens, CLICK CLICK CLICK! To make a longer story short, they replaced the wrong side, they replaced the Right side axel!!!! The car had to go back, AGAIN, for the SAME issue. They did end up giving me a loaner car for the last visit, but throughout the entire process, no phone calls, and when I called either the service manager was not in and no tech or front desk employee could assist me. ----NOW- here I am again, with a car issue. I brought it to a local garage to be diagnosed first because I dont trust VW diagnostic, techs dont seem to know a thing. Here I am a week later- no update on my car, I call and they tell me the tech assigned to my car is not in today, and the manager is not in. They tell me my car was fine and it was ready the day of apt, NEVER got a call, and a garage previously told me what was wrong with it. ( It is not shifting properly, and my solenoids are no good). Not only did i not get a call to say we looked at your car and we didn't find a problem, but they took it for a test drive and found nothing, did not look under the hood, now going into work week number 2, no manager to speak to and my "assigned car tech" is not in, so i guess that leaves me with NO CAR AGAIN, that isnt fixed or diagnosed correctly. This place should be SHUT DOWN!!!!

Absolutely phenomenal treatment!

byjunior56on 05/04/2015

Was just browsing on line at used vehicles yesterday, and happened to see a pre owned truck on Seacoast VW website that I thought looked interesting. Was in no rush to by a vehicle, and really didn't need it, but gave them a call anyway to make the inquiry. The sales manager Nancy Buell answered the phone and was so down to earth, I decided to take a drive up the next day to look at the truck. WOW! Nancy greeted us and introduced us to the salesperson Joe Meoli who took it from there. He set us up for a test ride and meantime took our keys to give a trade in figure on our vehicle. It has been 1 hour and we're sold on this fantastic vehicle. Doing the paperwork with Mike Cormier was painless, and we're on our way. Really, this is the first dealership I have EVER walked into and not felt pressured, and not questioned what I was being told, or sold. Will always check with them first from now on, very happy experience.

Service questionable and deceptive sales tactics

byangreeon 11/02/2014

Service department is not too competent and I was scammed by the used car manager. First the service department: I brought my ’06 Passat in to check out a loud humming sound. The car sounded like an airplane when I drove it on the highway. Very obvious something was wrong. They checked everything but could not ID the problem. They (over)charged me for their time and I went on my way. When I was back home in Mass, I brought it to my local service station (not VW) and they found the problem immediately: bad wheel bearing. They fixed the problem. Now the used car manager story: once again I was in New Hampshire and my dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and lost all power. Had the car towed to Seacoast VW (no choice!). Service looked at the car for days and could not definitively ID the problem. They told me it was electrical (no kidding) but they would have to throw expensive parts at it to find out for sure and there was no guarantee it would solve the problem. They were talking about $2000 just to run this experiment. Also, I had them check a rattle in the front end and they said it was a broken spring. Another $1000 they told me for that. Faced with all this discouraging news I thought it was not worth repairing the vehicle (they conveniently agreed) but I could talk to their used car sales manager to see what he could do. He told me he could only give me $1500 for my car since he was basically going to dump it at the auction. Mind you, my loaded 3.6L ’06 Passat was in perfect condition otherwise (I take excellent care of my cars) and the normal trade-in value would be more like $6500. I had no other choice but to believe him and take his offer and buy another car from him. Well, surprise, surprise, he didn’t send my car to the auction after all but rather decided to fix it and sell it for a nice profit. I’m sure the repair was very minor and I was a victim of deceptive practices by both the service department and the sales department. My advice: avoid this service department and don’t do business with the used car sales manager.

Dealing with the sales staff at Seacoast VW (Derek & Don) was a real pleasure. One of the best buying experiences I've ever had! Never any sales pressure and the bottom line deal for my 2013 Passat TDI SE was exceptional! I highly recommend Seacoast VW for a new or used car purchase.

Outstanding People And Stress Free Purchase

bywilcymooreon 04/27/2011

As my wife and I went recently went through the often arduous process of selecting and buying a new car, we had vastly different agendas. She believed that doing business locally would inevitably prove to be the best way to go while I was more focused on pricing. When I went through the process of researching pricing and obtaining quotes from a number of dealers, I originally believed that Seacoast Volkswagen would not be as competitive as several of the others. At least that's they way it appeared on the surface of pricing the same vehicles using a low to high search as well as reviewing sales ads in the local papers. I am happy to report that I was wrong and that my wife's instincts proved to be 100% correct. The sales team, Brian was our salesman, and the other folks with whom we interacted during the purchase process were professional, courteous and consumer focused. They respected us and were most importantly honest and straightforward. The biggest challenge we faced was that there were two tiers of pricing on the VW CC which we purchased, both having to do with how we would finance the purchase. The other dealerships with whom I had spoken and corresponded via email "neglected" to mention this major pricing impact at any time during our conversations. Essentially, a customer could "buy" 0% financing for a what amounted to $2,000 on the price of the car or find their own financing and pocket the $2000. It was a pretty simple decision once the two options were presented. Seacoast Volkswagen was cited as one of the most outstanding VW dealerships nationwide by the parent company for their success, service and consumer sentiment in 2010. At the end of the process both my wife and I understood why and we experienced one of the most outstanding interactions we have ever had for a major purchase.
