Best Buying Experience Ever

bySierraNVon 02/11/2017

It was a cold day with snow everywhere, yet all of the cars were clear of snow and easily accessible. We were impressed by our salesperson that introduced us to the General Manager, Tom Diefendorf, who was outside in the snow too. Everyone seemed friendly and straightforward, that put us at ease. Our needs were immediately understood. We were able to quickly identify and focus on the car that suited us. We easily agreed on a fair price our trade-in car. This was by far the best experience we've ever had buying a car, new or used. Based on our experience, I would highly recommend Acura of Reno to any one who asks.

The Best Professional Buying Experience Ever!

byJacksandsonon 01/27/2017

We finally experienced a professional, car purchasing experience and it was at Acura of Reno. Thank you to the All-Star Staff: Bret Kulwin - Sales Professional, Bruno Azevedo - Sales Manager - Tom Diefendorf - General Manager. I located the New 2017 RDX online. I contacted Bret Kulwin and began exchanging email. Bret was Professional, Knowledgeable, and provided Excellent Customer Service. He was quick to address all my questions. The deal was orchestrated via email. Totally awesome. We arrived at the dealership and we were met warmly by everyone. We went for a test drive, came back and executed the deal that was all set up. There were no issues or complications. Bret addressed any & all questions. We met with Bruno Azevedo and our Experience was very Professional….. He talked to us regarding a couple of options. No pressure…. As we processed the financial side of things, the car was fully detailed, and waiting for us. Bret walked us through the various options on this Loaded RDX. Within 2 hours we were on the road home with our new Acura. Thank you to everyone at Acura of Reno, the nicest group of people we have ever met.

Extraordinary, Professional Experience!

byjtfamilyon 12/22/2016

A thoroughly professional and satisfying car buying experience beginning with my initial contact with the dealership on line to the initial meeting with Tom Diefendorf, General Manager, to the considerable time spent with our salesman Canaan Peterson. Canaan attended to every need we had, paid close attention to just what we wanted on the RDX, kept us informed every step of the way, was most gracious on the lengthy test drive we took, especially listening to my wife's concerns. I have dealt with many salesmen over my life and quite frankly have measured them all to my Dad who I observed during his successful retail and real estate career. To him it was all about the customer. Canaan came as close to those ideals as any one I have seen. I also believe that Acura of Reno has established an environment that encourages and supports salesmen like Canaan. We will recommend Canaan and Acura of Reno to everyone we know, every one we met at Acura of Reno made our experience an outstanding one.

They may look "classy," but they are [non-permissible content removed]!!

byjoeya775on 05/25/2016

My Facebook Review: 3-23-2016: [non-permissible content removed] tried to scam me while servicing my vehicle. DO NOT USE ACURA OF RENO!!! They will lie and cheat you on unnecessary bogus repairs and then file a warranty claim to try and get even more money without you knowing. They put a front up to look all high end and classy, but they are just as bad as any other shady dealership/mechanic. Only go here if you know something about cars or have someone who does know with you. Due to posting my experience on facebook, I now know that 4 other friends have had issues just as bad and one issue was even worse. STAY FAR AWAY. Go to Reno Toyota or Honda. WAY BETTER and they treat you like a valued customer. Their Response: Acura of Reno: 4/5/2016: Joseph, sorry for the bad experience. Although we strive to be the best customer oriented dealership, some bad experiences are due to miscommunication. We would appreciate for you to come back in and have us re-diagnose your vehicle. My Response: 4/5/2016: This was no miscommunication. I had my car towed to you when it broke down. Upon inspection, you guys claimed my spark plugs were fouled and my battery was dead. I told several people this since you guys wanted to charge me almost $600 to complete the repairs. I don't know a lot about cars and I am not going to freely give out $600 without doing my research. These items weren't covered by my warranty so I had to pay out of pocket. Each person told me Acura of Reno's diagnostic didn't make sense and the service paper you guys gave me 3 days prior to the repair proved my battery was fine. With the advice I received from others, I took my car to the mechanic my family has used and trusted for many years. I paid for the tow and the 2nd diagnostic knowing in my gut Acura was being 100% dishonest. My mechanic inspected the vehicle and found out the timing chain guide was broken. Which WAS covered by the warranty. They checked my spark plugs and battery first and determined they were just fine. Unfortunately the warranty wouldn't work with my mechanic unless we make the suggested repairs by Acura. Once that didn't work, we had to take several pictures and document everything in order for the warranty to cover their work. This experience became a nightmare for me when it all could have been avoided. I am now out several hundred dollars for false diagnostics, tows, and unnecessary repairs. I could probably sue, but Acura or Reno is not worth my time. Your general manager is extremely rude and if you guys truly believed in good customer service, you would reimburse me for the costs I have had to eat due to the dishonesty from Acura of Reno. I feel like I was scammed and I refuse to be yelled at and treated poorly by your general manager. Obviously if he can't be professional or even TRY to do something to right this wrong, then there is nothing left for me to do here. There is also no reason why I would take my car back to Acura of Reno to "re-diagnose" when I already had my car fixed by my trusted mechanic. I gave you guys $130 alone to FALSELY diagnose my car and you guys have yet to even offer that back to me. I think THAT, if nothing else should be redundable. Especially since you guys know your "diagnosis" was wrong. You guys have the power to do the right thing and how you respond to this could either be a good advertisement for Acura of Reno or a bad one. The power is with you. NO RESPONSE FROM THEM TO DATE!!! DON'T GO HERE!!! Go to Honda or out of state to another dealership!

Where was the leisure suit?

bylj6on 07/09/2014

The car sold itself. The sales manager was only missing a powder blue leisure suit. Very, very unprofessional. If you live in Reno and know you want an Acura, it is worth the drive to Roseville. I have bought all previous cars down there and they are much more professional. My actual sales consultant was good and I have no complaints about him, he knew the cars well but in the end had zero authority. This is the last car we purchase in Reno, it is still very old school.

Excellent service at a fair price after local Honda dealer tried games

bymlempireon 08/14/2011

After an insane quote for basic oil change service at a nearby Honda dealer, I appeared without an appointment for an oil change at the Acura dealer. I was quoted a normal/reasonable price for this basic service. I was told that the work could be done within an hour or so even though the service department appeared busy. The service writer gave me a tour of the dealership including directing me towards the internet cafe for a free breakfast snack and drink. He also offered a free manicure that was offered daily to all their customers during certain hours. I was spending less than $ 50 for my oil change so I was shocked that these perks were offered to me. The work was performed within the promised time frame and the service writer came to where I was waiting to tell me they were finished and the vehicle was currently being vacummed and washed at no additional charge. I paid the cashier and found my van clean and ready to go. What a breath of fresh air after a horrible experience at the local Honda Dealer.

Don't Be Fooled

byrenoguy1on 03/22/2011

My initial feelings were positive during the test drive phase until we actually started dealing for the particular car. The salesman brought me a "best price," which was higher than I was willing to pay. Because we had spent some time together and had developed a rapport (as good salesmen will), he was able to get me to reveal to him my "last best price" with the promise that if they couldn't say yes, we'd shake hands and part on friendly terms-no further pressure. After a significant wait, the used car sales manager appeared . . . very smooth and polished and charming and managed to get me to raise my offer (bid against myself) $270 (which was accepted-subject to my mechanic inspecting the vehicle (a Honda, so not a Certified Pre Owned). This was the point where the wheels started coming off the deal. I was willing to sign the papers, subject to the inspection but the used car salesman was not. Since it was after 5 p.m. Friday, the mechanic could not see the car until Monday. The used car sales manager started using the "we have to keep trying to sell the car over the weekend and it could well be gone by Monday" tactic (even though the vehicle had been there a month already. When that didn't work, he said I could look at their inspection report done by their in-house mechanics. I agreed. He was gone a long time before coming back with a multipage report. On the first page were two items the mechanics said needed to be addressed but he (as used car manager) overruled the mechanic and the work had not been done. While this was very significant to me, it was not a deal killer and I was willing to accept those things if there was nothing else. The car was taken to my mechanic on Monday to be inspected at my expense. After the inspection, my mechanic noted with some chagrin that in addition to anything else, the fluids were all in need of being topped off and the windshield wipers needed to be replaced. I got hold of my salesperson and asked if he wouldn't get the fluids topped off and the wipers replaced while I got the cashiers check for the all cash purchase and signed the papers. Sounding a little embarrassed, he said he could not get that done and would have to get the approval of the used car sales manager and call me back. We are talking less than $20 of fluid and windshield wipers for a car the used car manager claimed had been fully reconditioned until his own mechanic's report showed that wasn't true. Fifteen minutes later the used car sales manager called back and cancelled the deal, ranting that he would not authorize topping the fluids and replacing the wipers because, he said, it would wipe out any profit and they wouldn't even be able to pay the salesman any commission. What BS. I was paying $24,000 cash for a 3 year old used car. After thinking about it, I realized this person must have calculated that since he had persuaded me to go beyond my "last best offer" before, it was just a challenge to see if he could do it again. My question: why would an honorable dealership do a deal that made them feel they had to go out of their way to make the customer feel short changed? At the end of the day, the attitude a customer leaves with is either the dealership's best or their worst advertising. I've lived in Reno for over 50 years and have been telling everyone I know how poorly treated I was by Acura of Reno. Because of $270 + a pair of windshield wipers and some top-off fluids, Acura of Reno changed me from a completely satisfied purchase who would sing the dealership's praises to 50 years worth of friends and acquaintances to a completely disillusioned and disappointed non-buyer who is telling anyone who will listen what a bum deal Acura of Reno is.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!JUNK USED CARS!!!!

bybuyerbeware4on 01/15/2011

Purchased a used car which they knew was defective. As I drove it off the lot the check engin light came on, I took it back and they said the spark plugs had water in them. They reset the check engin light and lied to me that the car was ok and I had nothing to worry about. 3 weeks later the car is leaking 1 quart of oil a week and when taken to a mechanic, he said it would be $960.53 to fix. The owner of Acura of Reno Alex Chow said "buyer be ware, thats just the way it happens sometimes. I thought buying from a dealer, I would purchase a car from an honest person, but I was wrong. I thought I would get a dependable car for my teenage sister that wouldn't leave her on the side of the road. But after a month it has left her on the side of the road. BUYER BEWARE OF ACURA OF RENO. The dissatified review was totally on the mark! The satified buyer was 3yrs ago! Current Review:

Acura of Reno is THE BEST!!!

byacostason 11/27/2010

I cannot believe the review that I just read about how horrible Acura of Reno is. I highly disagree, and all I have to say is that some people simply cannot be pleased. Let me explain why I highly recommend Acura of Reno to any interested buyer looking for an amazing automobile. I was one of the first customers to purchase my Acura TL in 2008 when the dealership opened. Aside from the beautiful facility at Acura of Reno, I completely fell in love with their vehicles. Each member of the staff were very professional and extremely helpful. My salesman did not just treat me as a customer, but as a close friend instead. My concerns and questions became his top priority, only I didn't have any concerns, just many questions about the beautiful car that I didn't want to leave without. Acura's are very expensive vehicles, but for every cent you spend on purchasing an Acura, you'll soon find that it is one of the best possible investment choices to make. The general manager at Acura of Reno made sure that my entire experience was the best possible; he went above and beyond to make me happy. I was so pleased with Acura of Reno and their amazing qualities in customer service, that I've since returned to purchase two more vehicles from them. My experience was no different than my first; I was treated like I was the only customer in their dealership and my every need was addressed. Just recently, I was involved in an auto accident, and my beautiful Acura TL was declared a total loss. A drunk driver rear ended me while I was stopped at an intersection, and my 11 year old son was in the back seat of my TL. I feared that my son would be seriously injured, but because of Acura's amazing safety ratings, my son and I only suffered minor injuries. My Acura TL did it's job in protecting me and my son; the back end of my car collapsed just as it was supposed to. Although I was upset that I lost my car, I knew exactly where I was going to get my replacement from. When the staff at Acura of Reno learned of my accident, they did everything they could to help me through my ordeal, and of course I bought another beautiful Acura from them. My most recent purchase from Acura of Reno is the fourth vehicle I've bought from them, and I will continue to use only Acura of Reno for all of my future purchases. The level of customer service that they provide cannot be beaten by any dealership around; believe me, I've had my fair share of crappy experiences with dealerships around the Reno-Carson area. I urge you to go in and visit the friendly staff at Acura of Reno; experience the great qualities for yourself. Thank you to my salesman, our finance guy and the general manager at Acura of Reno. You know who this is, and please know how truly greatful I am for everything that you have done for me and my family. Interested consumers, GO VISIT ACURA OF RENO NOW!!!

Absolutely HORRIBLE Experience!!

bynikkiq13on 03/25/2010

We recently tried to purchase a used BMW from Acura of Reno and while everything started out OK, it went severely downhill. The night we test drove the car we fell in love and bought it. We gave them a down payment to hold until payday, did the paperwork, and left with it. It smelled heavily of shampoo and air freshener that night, so we didn't notice the horrendous smell until the next day. We spent two days searching for the source of the odor and $50 on neutralizers and air fresheners. My boyfriend tore apart the entire trunk and discovered MAGGOTS where the spare tire was supposed to be. We made several phone calls to the dealership trying to get someone to help us and nobody would return our calls. I finally drove up to the dealership and waited for somebody to talk to me about the problem and try to come up with a resolution. While waiting, one of their salesmen (who had nothing to do with our sale originally) was incredibly rude to me when I asked if I could speak to a manager. They claim to be the #1 rated dealership in the entire country, and I find that utterly laughable (apparently all you need to get that rating is Starbucks coffee and a manicurist there twice a week--to hell with a decent sales and finance team)! Once I finally was able to talk to someone, they agreed to solve the problem and had the car for approximately 24 hours. When they finally called us back, they admitted they could not get the stench out, that they were unwilling to re-upolstor it, and agreed to cancel the deal. While their willingness to do the right thing lifted our spirits a bit, things progressively got worse. We were willing to look at other vehicles on their lot and were told by the Sales Manager that he would look into a few and call us to schedule an appointment to come look at them. He never did. When we called them a week or so later (thinking we were still willing to give them another chance), they pulled the same song and dance and didn't call for several days after promising to return our call within an hour. Meanwhile, after they specifically told us they would have to whole-sale the car and refused to put it back on the lot (because they didn't want their reputation ruined...HA!), it was back on the website within a few days. I can also say the car was inquired about after they reposted it, and they confirmed it was for sale (at the same list price we had seen) and they never disclosed the issues it had. Finally, the icing on the cake was the fact that 2 weeks after our deal was unwound, they CASHED THE DOWNPAYMENT CHECK. The check that we had asked them to give back to us, but were assured was shredded and would never be cashed because there was no deal. While I'm happy they were quick to resolve the issue and refund the money to me, the fact that they even let it go that far is bothersome. We literally were told by every single person in the dealership that they're rated #1, yet they acted WORSE than your typical joe shcmo lemon lot! Having to waste my gas and my time to go back and forth with them still makes it feel like we lost out on something. The bottom line is that Acura treats you like dirt unless you have money. And while I understand it's a luxury car dealership, every sale they get puts food on their table and ALL customers should be cherished. They obviously did not want our business, and obviously don't care enough about the bad reviews they're getting on multiple websites to rectify the situation or to improve their quality of service. I would STRONGLY urge anyone to go to a different dealership. If you must have an Acura, I guarantee it would be worth the drive to Sacramento over purchasing an Acura or any other car at this dealership.
