Very friendly and knowledgeable salesman, extremely quick and easy process from test driving to purchasing! loved the extra help with learning all the electronics so I can actually use all the benefit my car provided.

Carousel Motors are FRAUDS. Stay Away!!

by hotskillet98 on 12/23/2016

I purchased a "Certified" Preowned VW from Vince S. Th Carfax was clean single owner no accidents, and Vince S. Claimed it was perfect. After delivery of the Vehicle, it was discovered the the entire body of the car had been repainted and tried to cover obvious damage. The paint job had sandpaper scratches, paint sags, runs, and poor bodywork still showing dents. The "certified" car was missing the VIN verification stickers since car had been repainted. It was also missing a key, battery cover, parcel shelf and had broken lumbar adjustment. Because I gave them negative feedback, they basically told me I'm stuck with the car- have a nice day. I had to file a report with VW of A to resolve them being frauds.

Satisfied thus far

by HardKnox on 03/11/2013

I bought a new Golf from Nathan G. who worked very hard to make sure I was satisfied. A rubber door plug was found to be missing more than a month after I purchased the car and Nathan took care of the issue in short order. Although it's a 2 hour ride to the dealer, I'll still make the trip to Carousel when it is time for my first scheduled maintenance. 5 stars for Nathan.

Pathetic

by joe413 on 02/16/2013

Bought used Lexus LX470. They told me they would fix suspension prior to purchase. While a partial repair was done, they did not fix it. Over next few weeks after taking possession, I realized suspension was still faulty. I requested they honor their word and fix it as they said they would. Used sales manager told me I was twisting words and suspension must have went bad after I drove it off the lot. Get any repair agreement in great detail on sales agreement or better yet - avoid Carousel and Bill W. Wrote general manager as well...nothing.

Mixed Experience

by mmhblg on 10/30/2012

I recently bought my first car from Carousel VW and wanted to inform others of my experience. I’ve lived in town for some time now and have heard mostly negative things about this dealership but wanted to give them a chance to earn my business. First of all, I’m pleased with the quality of the vehicle I purchased and with the amount of time the salesman took to make sure I selected the right vehicle for me. He was patient and thorough and knowledgeable about the cars that were available. The dealership was quite busy with an end of the month promotion the day I bought my car. I purchased a car without an in-dash GPS but did ask about the possibility of adding a VW navigation unit after the sale. The salesman assured me that this was possible and quoted an estimate of $800. He was unable to confirm this, however, as the parts department was closed for the evening. After signing the paperwork I began to think about the various GPS options and decided that an in-dash unit might address my concerns about theft and having unsightly cords hanging in the car’s interior. I decided that I might like to go ahead with the VW unit so I inquired again about the price. At this time the parts department was open and I was quoted a price around $1000 higher than the original estimate. The salesman did offer to discuss this situation with dealership manager Mr. W. and also guided me through aftermarket options should I decide not to go ahead with the factory unit. He put in a significant amount of time and effort after the sale researching options for me. Despite the original miscommunication regarding the price of the GPS Mr. W. was only willing to negotiate a several hundred dollar discount on price. The $800 quoted was a non-starter as was my offer to “meet him halfway” on the price difference. He also did not apologize for the original mis-information regarding price. I did buy this car without a written guarantee of the cost of adding a GPS unit later and wish now that I had not done so. Coming from a customer-focused relationship with my previous car dealer I was perhaps naïve in this regard. Do I still love the car? Yes. Would I feel comfortable dealing again with Carousel VW? No. If you choose to do business with them I would caution you to have a written agreement regarding all aspects of the sale before you complete the deal. They worked hard to “earn my business” before the sale but have shown relative disregard at the management level for maintaining my satisfaction as a customer thereafter. At least I know now where I stand with Carousel VW and why previous comments I’ve heard from others in the community about the business practices of Carousel VW have not been positive. Mr. W. is the reason I won’t purchase here again.

Do Not Buy Here!

by niddup on 07/01/2010

I recently purchased a 2006 Audi A3 from Carousel Motors and I also have had a horrible experience with them. The salesman was friendly and knowledgeable and not at all pushy but when it got to the sales manager it all fell apart. I had asked the salesman if it was Audi Certified Pre-Owned because I noticed that was written on some of the paperwork he was showing me and he said he was not sure but that he would ask the sales manager. They moved me pretty quickly to the sales manager's office where he tried to push all of the usual junk which I declined. He then got out all of the paperwork which stated the car was Audi Certified Pre-Owned on the purchase agreement so I thought that was pretty great and signed away. Four hours later (about 11:00 PM) I got an email from the sales manager saying he made a mistake on some of the paperwork and needed me to come back in to re-sign some things. I went in the next morning to see what it was all about and the first thing I noticed was that the creditor had changed, then I noticed that the new purchase agreement did not say Certified Pre-Owned. I wanted to talk to the sales manager but he was out of the office (I wonder why?) and had just left the paperwork with the receptionist for me to sign with no explanations at all. I had her call his cell and he told me that the car could not be Certified because of the miles and that he would give me 2 car washes to make up for it. I knew I was dealing with an incompetent [violative content deleted] at this point. I should have gone straight to a lawyer at that point. I emailed the general manager that evening to let him know how awful my experience was. Then the next day the starter on the car went out and I had to bring it in for service, which they did pay for, as they should have. When I was in the service center picking up a loaner car the sales manager came in and asked me when I was going to pay the down payment (which I handed him the day before). So not only did he completely screw up all of the paperwork and screw me out of a warranty he also lost my check and was asking me to write another one. Basically the attitude there is that if they screw up you have to pay for it. I talked to the GM on the phone the next day and he stated that he would give me the best deal possible on a service contract (should have been nothing less than a free year) but I have not heard back from him since. He admitted that they screwed up and stated that they did not deserve my business (he got that right). I know many people in this town (and many wealthy people who might shop there) and will make sure that everyone I know knows about my experience at Carousel Motors. Buyer beware!!! Go anywhere else, go to Cedar Rapids, Quad Cities, anywhere but Carousel.
