Friendly courteous employees. Willing to listen about my questions and/or comments. The receptionist is especially friendly. Employees unrelated to the work I am having performed are friendly.

Short notice repair visit

Lance was able to work me in on short notice. The young man who handled my transaction was professional. He understood good customer service. Please pass my thanks on to both.

Service Writer Stole And Wrecked My ZL1 Camaro

by TotaledZL1 on 12/20/2013

On Sunday, December 15, 2013, my prized 2012 Camaro ZL1 took its last breath at 4:47 pm. The car was at First State Chevrolet in Georgetown, DE for paint issues (under warranty). It had been locked in the service bay over the weekend. On Sunday afternoon, an employee of the dealership (service writer) entered the locked building, removed the keys to my car from the service department, and went on a joyride. The car was totaled when he lost control and sheared off a telephone pole. The dealership informed my wife and I on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. of our loss. Yes, they waited over 16 hours to tell us about our car. I am sure they discussed the incident with their attorneys prior to calling us. It is now Friday, the car has been officially totaled by the insurance company, and the dealership is telling us it is not their problem. They even refuse to provide my wife and I (and our insurance company) with their insurance information. I traded in my 2011 SS2 Camaro and sold my 1969 Camaro SS in pristine condition to buy the ZL1. I will never be able to afford another new ZL1, and basically I don't think I should have to be put in the position to have to buy a new one. We trusted First State Chevrolet to use vigilance while our car was in their possession. We can't even have charges pressed against their employee for theft because the car was not in OUR possession when stolen.

WOW, That's a surprise!

by hardwareman on 09/28/2010

I am a business owner in a neighboring town and have purchased 20 plus vehicles for personal use and our stores and have always found First State Chevy's service department to be extremely professional even when occasionally I can be a little impatient. We currently are running six trucks from diesels to Avalanches and every repair from oil changes to transmission issues on a 100,000 mile Avalanche have been, and will continue to be, repaired at First State. Their service writers are a gem to work with, their service manager and technicians are well trained and extremely knowledgable. With this many vehicles on the road everyday, we have something in their shop monthly and have never had an issue that was not taken care of in a matter of a couple days. Don't know what the issue with the clutch is, but you can bet, if First State's service department would not warranty a repair they have a darn good reason.

Bumper to Bumper a real bummer

by chevyblaster on 02/06/2008

If you spend $11,000 on a new car would you expect to pay over $1,000 in repair cost the first year despite having a bumper to bumper warranty. No I didn't wear out the tires, if fact went less than 10K miles. And no, I didn't hit anything. Seems the clutch wore out and that made the rotor fan break. Come on. The dealer 1st State says it's caused by abusive driving. GM says they go by whatever the dealer says. Bottom line I'm stuck for 1000+ for a car nine months old and certainly not abused. I will not value Chevy's bumper to bumper warrenty for as much as a dime.
