Great Staff!

byMarshaNon 03/21/2017

I purchased my new car through this dealership because of the way the salesperson treated me. He did not hard sell or attempt to close the deal but worked with me over a 5 day period! I felt like he really cared and wanted me to have exactly what I wanted and at the price I could afford. I bought a car that is pretty hot on the market today but he really cared.

Opted us into third-party mailers

byLVHRTOYon 12/04/2017

Pro: Service and Parts teams. Con: Customer service, registered us for third-party solicitations, failed to accept our opt-out request. History: Leased/Purchased 2010 Toyota Prius. The service department was excellent, parts department was knowledgeable. After purchasing our 2010 Toyota Prius from the dealership, we began to receive unwanted solicitations to sell our car back to Toyota of Lake City. We contacted the dealership and they assured us we would be removed. As of November 2017, we are still receiving requests to sell our car back to the dealership. We are advising all that do not wish to be added to a mailing list, to avoid this dealership at all costs. We are currently awaiting a response from the customer service department, in writing, that states our relationship with Toyota of Lake City is no more and includes third-party solicitations. Buyer beware!

Disappointed

bylovmycar1on 04/04/2016

Spent over 5 hours test driving and negotiating a price on a 2016 Prius. I was very happy with the sales rep. She went to the manager maybe 5 or 6 times as we negotiated and finally came with the keys to the new Prius and told me I had just purchased the car. About an hour later when we met with finance, he filled out the forms for my Prius trade-in first and then told me there was a problem! They were not able to offer the agreed on discount since the manager made a "mistake" on the rebate amount. I respectfully expressed my displeasure but was told there was nothing they could do. I offered up that they could simply adjust the trade-in value to make up the difference. They made a slight adjustment but this ended up raising the total price and extending the loan another 2 years. Was this a mistake or a strategy?? I will never know but they had the opportunity to make the deal whole but chose not to keep their word and honor the original agreement.

Pretty good expeirence in lake city toyota

byEcho_2015on 09/13/2015

I bought two cars from Lake city Toyota. Vera, the sales lady for this time was nice and professional. She was very patient and passionate about what she is doing. And I also had very good experience with the financing department too.

Buying a car is nearly as much fun as a root canal, except more expensive.

bympmpmpmpon 09/08/2015

Buying a car is nearly as much fun as a root canal, except more expensive. Pushy salespeople, scant selection and the endless back and forth is often par for the course. Which is why my experience at Toyota of Lake City was such a nice surprise. The salesman, Undui Redner, was friendly, knowledgeable and informative. Nothing pushy. The process was fairly easy with the Costco Auto Program, although the typical negotiating still played out on the trade in. But Undui at least bought me a latte and snack from their café while we waited for the manager to “call and see if he could get me what I wanted for my trade-in”. However, can't fault a dealership for doing what every other single one does, just part of the dance. In the end, I know got a good deal and overall I’m happy with my experience. It's not often that these words escape my mouth regarding a dealership, however, "I would highly recommend this dealership if you are in the market for a car".

Will not return

byShilvanon 05/28/2015

We just bought a Highlander from Lake City Toyota. I love the car but if I had to do it over, I would have gone elsewhere. First of all, their service is is similar to a wolf attacking its prey and they stated they hated doing business with Costco members because they make more from others that have no idea! They even separated us from other customers to make sure we didn't let others hear that their deal wasn't good since they like to add fees that mean nothing and with the Costco program you can't do that as easily. Every time I questioned a fee they told me to ignore that line. When I wouldn't and made them remove the additional fees, they asked if I was a finance person. No, but I'm positive when I'm being fed BS. I feel bad for others that trust them. Then at the end, we found a chip within 24 hours of buying the car and they told us "too bad too sad" when I complained and told them I expected a bit of compassion. Well I said that I would report it on the ratings since I was unhappy that he didn't do an inspection with us. When I told him I was angry, the salesman's response was "I feel you are attacking me" and hung up on me. I'm nine months pregnant and upset and he hung up on me when I said I was upset about the response? He said he would tell his boss. By the way, he also apparently forgot that he told us last week that he's married to his boss. So of course his boss never called us back. If you go in prepare for aggressive vulture-like sales associates until you purchase a vehicle, then prepare to not be cared about and everything is your problem. Even the rental given to us today had one bar of gas in it, was dirty, and had over 50k miles on it, in addition to it not even being a Toyota! Talk about being given crappy treatment. Our previous dealerships we have used never treated us badly or acted like we didn't matter. Today I'm disgusted and really disappointed but they have our money now so they reached their goal. Will never return again and plan to tell Costco about the trash talking they do about their customers since they say they can easily take more money from a non-Costco Member. Being hung up on by the sales associate was also par for the course. Ask the rep if his wife works there and if she does walk away fast. He not only hung up but interrupted me while voicing my feelings and instead of being compassionate, was instead adamant about telling me it wasn't his problem and that his boss would call us back. She never did. Apparently his wife was too busy consoling him. Conflict of interest - just a little. I'm still fuming about the service and disappointed that we didn't matter the second we left with the car.

Great experience

bybabs21on 05/27/2015

I've visited the dealership several times to get my vehicle serviced (love the late night appointments). The last time I came in for an oil change I mentioned to my service advisor I was considering replacing my Prius. I had a bad experience with the dealership I had bought the car from and he knew I didn’t want the run around again. He said he knew just the person to help and put me in contact with Olie Iarsomiuk (sp?). When I talked to her I explained that I wasn't in a rush but would be interested in replacing my Prius when there was a good deal. I’m shocked she didn’t throw me to the side or forget about me when I said I wasn’t buying right away. She wasn't ever pushy and she would send me emails here and there checking in for months. She called me this past weekend and let me know about some great specials they had for Memorial Day. I figured it was just a gimmick to get me to come in but I figured since my out of town plans fell through I might as well stop in. She presented me with 2 Prius’s that they had on special but it wasn’t the color I wanted. I figured great, I can get an amazing deal just only on the god awful Sea Glass Metallic, thanks but no thanks. The pricing was only supposed to be on those 2 cars but she went to work for me and got me the Black one like I wanted. Then I was onto the room where they force you to buy crap or keep you in there forever. I ended up with Diego (I think that was his name). I’m not sure if it was because he was new at being in there or what but he was surprisingly nice and even helped me get a better rate than what I got at my own bank. Olie truly made what is usually a painful experience a great one. I would definitely recommend anyone to see her.

Terrible Sales People - ZERO Stars

bySeattleEcoMomon 06/11/2013

We ended up buying from them just because they had what we wanted, but we left feeling like we needed long, hot, showers. I had prior experience with their service department and they are excellent. SALES, NO. I would recommend finding the car you want SOMEWHERE else.

Avoid at all costs

byhufftwon 02/19/2013

As with every Toyota dealer, you have a sales person that greets you, takes you on a test drive, and then passes you off to a Sales Manager. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Han S., the Assistant Sales Manager. This individual attempted most of the usual unscrupulous methods of price inflating that I have only read about. Let go through the list: 1. Stating that the printed "invoice" that he gave us was an accurate accounting of the cost associate with the car we were buying from the factory to the dealer - WRONG. It had nearly $1,500 in holdbacks that the dealer would immediately get back upon sale of the car. 2. He brought out a "cost sheet" that had a Dealer Prep charge of over $1,000(!!!). The factory pays the dealer to prepare each and every car for sale. No one should ever have to pay for this. 3. He attempted to include the dealer's flooring costs (the loan the dealer must take out to acquire each car). However, he failed to mention that the factory covers this ~$150 burden upon vehicle sale. And yes, the flooring costs listed on his "pricing sheet" were highly inflated. 4. The worst one was trying to include the destination charge as part of the base cost of the car, which he then added a percentage mark-up to. The destination charge is always a separate line item that never gets included as a basis for mark-up. I strongly recommend not going to Lake City Toyota. Do not expect anything better than this type of behavior from Toyota "Sales Managers" as they all behaved the same way at each of the four dealerships I had to visit before finally buying a car. It is unfortunate the dealership owners condone this nonsense (and they do), because it generates nothing but mistrust and anger for customers that will promptly use the Internet disseminate their bad experiences. This was easily the single worst car buying experience I have ever gone through.

SERVICE DEPT BETTER THAN SALES DEPT

A/C high pressure line needed to be replaced, and Mike Long Service Adviser kept in close touch with me about the repairs. It was an expensive repair, but he was very helpful. And I realized no need to get rid of seven year old car just because of this problem

Very dissatisfied with the dealership. Avoid if possible!!!

bymysterybuyer1on 12/14/2009

I went in there to buy a Rav4 and test the vehicle. On the "test drive", we went up the hill right outside the dealer, then went over 2 blocks or so and the salesman already wanted me to turn back into the dealership. How am I supposed to test the vehicle well if they won't even let me test it on the highway or drive it further?? The salesman also didn't try to explain the features of the car during the test drive! Also, the salesman was dishonest about the location of the vehicle and the mileage on the odometer (claimed it was low/under 10 miles). He tried to sell me another similar vehicle that he claimed was being detailed at their dealership so I couldn't see it yet. Apparently, this vehicle was on another dealership's lot at the time of the purchase (vehicle had over 160 miles on it). The manager claimed that it was an error in communication, but no one informed me of the mistake until I requested to see the vehicle upfront the following day in the afternoon. To make up for their mistake, the manager offered to get me another new vehicle, which I accepted, but when the vehicle finally arrived, they decided not to sell it to me after waiting for 2 weeks for it to arrive at the dealership. Their reason was that I seemed too dissatisfied with their dealership and they couldn't do anything to make up for it. Of course I was dissatisfied, they lied to me and wasted my time. You have been warned so beware when you go to this dealership. They seemed nice at first, but becareful when you finally make your purchase. Look over everything carefully and ask questions if you feel unsure of anything!

Got a car with a lot of issues

bybrikevgabon 11/02/2009

Got a car with a lot of issues. Don't buy there, buy somewhere else, there are so many dealers around. They sold me a car with a lot of issues. I was worry because the car was without warranty but they told me (sales manager) that the car was under warranty when they brought the car, and before the warranty due date, they always look at the car with a "magnifying glasses" as they can fix every issue for "free" (warranty pays for that). I trusted them, as this kind of makes sense, and looks like a smart move. BUT, this was not true, after get the car I went to the car dealer to do a check-up. The car had a LOT of issues that I will consider easy to find by a Toyota dealer service department of "Toyota of Lake City". They were incapable of finding these issues while the car was under warranty. My car have issues on the gear, air-conditioner, electric seats, etc. This was an expensive (more than U$3000.00) and unexpected addition to the price, and, I cannot do anything about it... and the only thing that I can get from them is an "I'm sorry that you have these issues with your car". They also own the "Chevrolet of Bellevue". I would avoid these two dealers, or, at least be really careful when you buy a used car from them (without warranty).

I had a good experience, but maybe I got lucky?

bysweetsamon 10/06/2009

I purchased a Camry from them after being treated badly [elsewhere]. I was greeted by a sales person almost immediately after I came to the lot. There weren't many choices -actually there were only two cars with my requirements and neither color was too desirable, but I went with one of them because the price was fair (below invoice) I also and went through the financing process smoothly. I am surprised to read the other reviews. I am in the market for another vehicle and will post my experience if I go back to this establishment.

Be prepared for Aggressive sales

bywarmonkedon 04/26/2009

As the other reviewers have mentioned, the salesmen here are Very Aggressive. In my opinion, this really isn't a problem as long as you remember one thing: You Don't Have To Buy A Car Here! The aggressiveness can be annoying (especially when they take your old car keys to "appraise its value," thus preventing you from leaving), but if you come in expecting their push, then you can avoid being affected by it. There are PLENTY of Toyota dealers in the Seattle area, don't forget that! I personally would not buy from here, just because their attitude annoys me, but that shouldn't discourage anyone from coming here to get a quote, which they can then use as leverage at another dealer.

I ADVISE EXTREME CAUTION HERE !

byantiquer5on 01/15/2009

I had a nearly unbelievable experience buying my Scion at Lake City. They charged me $1500 for after-market leather, showing me where on the agreement it said I wasn't comitted if my daughter didn't want it -- I was buying the car for her birthday. When I called to say she didn't want it, they told me to come pick up a check. When I got there, I was told the person who wrote checks wasn't in. Same thing happened the next day, so they said they'd mail the check. They never did. I spent a year of phone calls and frustration on this; it was clear that they were just giving me a run-around and had no intention to return my money. It's crazy but the truth. Maybe I'm just one person and one incident, but it seems so unquestionably unethical if not illegal, that I'd have to recommend buying elsewhere. There are so many places to buy -- go elsewhere.

Buying experience

bypcdoc101on 08/27/2008

I went there and told the salesman what i was looking for and he passed me onto another salesman. I had to repeat myself on what i wanted over and over they just had me sit there for an hour and waste my time. The worst part of it all is that I already knew what i wanted when I got there, but they didn't have it. Rather than just being honest, they kept trying to convice me to buy something else.

shady sales and no customer service

byyjkon 01/23/2008

Went to buy a car using costco program after verifying with them over the phone, but when I sat down to purchase the car they came back with price $2500 above the actual costco program. After that I told them no thanks and decided to leave, but they decided to rework the deal by fudging the number hoping I was too stupid to notice that they only lowered it by $200. I wasn't going to purchase the car from these people after this but my wife really wanted this car so I had them honor the price. Week and a half later I called to have the car looked it for rattling sound from the dash, and I am told they will not give me a courtesy vehicle while the car is being looked at because the issue could be caused by loose change. Sad to see how quickly they will run away as soon as they made their sales. I've purchased toyota vehicles from 3 other local dealers and this is the first one to treat their customer in such manner. Whole experience has been very disappointing and needless to say I will not recommend them to anyone I know. I will take my next $30+k purchase to different dealer where they won't treat me like mentally challenged person. Finance manager was the only person I would definitely will do business again with, an absolute professional gentleman.
