First, the dealership was honest about what they had in stock, and what they didn't, when they contacted me by e-mail following my inquiry. Especially since I had trouble in that regard with two other area Mazda dealerships the prior day, that made a very good first good impression. Then I met with Rick Pederson. Again, his honesty, and additionally his easy-going nature, were very welcome. Kudos to Rick.

Poor customer service

I should give zero star to this business! The sale manager (Jay) gave us a price for $37590 but after we made a decision after lunch and go back again, the manager said he increased the price to $38590!!!! Just because he is tired with negotiating!!!! $1000 more than what he told us before!!! What kind of business is this!! What kind of manager is this!!! Get away from his place!!!

They refused to return the registration on my trade

I took my car in to be evaluated for trade on a new car. When the they quoted me one trade amount, then changed it to several thousand dollars lower, I decided to walk out. In the process the sales person told me that I was a waste of time and then refused to give me back the registration they took out of my car when evaluating the trade. They gave me a "photocopy" back claiming they lost the original, all in the amount of time I was standing there. I believe they kept my original registration out of spite as I was leaving without purchasing their car. The entire experience at this dealership felt very slimy to me, I strongly recommend considering OTHER dealerships if you want to purchase a Mazda. The sales person told me during the test drive that their sales were way down and the dealership is not doing well. I am not surprised to hear that given the experience we had. I recommend giving your business to any dealership other than this one.

COMPLETELY UNSATISFIED

Was mailed a pre-approval letter "5000-30,000" dollars so I never submitted anything to this dealership. They said that a was qualified like they found me and reached out to me. So I went to the capital mazda of Cary with my approval letter and a appraisal quote what their company was willing to give me for my current vehicle. Which it wasn't "top dollar" like they said. I had browsed thru their inventory before I got to capital mazda of cary and seen at least 6-8 dodge avengers that I wanted. I was strongly considering trading my car in on top of a 2-4 thousand dollar down payment on top of the appraisal that they quoted me for my car. I have never been completely let down by any deal ship like this in my life.... whenever someone finally got to me they told me it was on another dealership lot or its already sold. They mentioned that they could have the vehicle could be brought to me to test drive and check out. Then they told me it couldn't be brought to the dealership . I left 30 min after filling out my paper work to check my credit. They mentioned before I left that they would call the next day. So the next day came and the general manager called me Thursday stating "is that all you can put diwn"?? "Or I have something else u would like" kept diverting me to something that was way over my budget . I only wanted something between 10-14 thousand . The next day general manager called and did the same thing. Asking if that was all I could put down... so uncalled for and had no respect. It's a shame that they had the nerve to pre a proved me and with out me requesting for it and completely got my hopes up. For what? To be mistreated and disrespected . Unbelievable

Car buying was fast and easy

I am extremely satisfied with my new car due in part to the combined effort of the sales team at this dealership. The staff was never pushy or aggressive in their effort. I was there to trade in my car for a deal that was both satisfactory to me and to the dealership and that's exactly what happened. I would recommend this dealership to my friends and neighbors.

Straightforward, easy buying experience

Melvin W was extremely accommodating to us and our needs. He gave us a good price for our new car, was up front about all associated costs and did not play any games to raise the price with added fees, etc. he answered all our questions and was great to work with. Linda in financing was also very quick and easy to work with.

No spare key, had to sign Power of Attorney to buy car

Bought a "Certified Pre-owned" car. Dealer raised the bargained price by ~$400. I had to sign dozens of documents, including a power of attorney after offering to pay with a cashier's check. They delivered next day with only one key, offered a second key for $250. They wasted hours of time, very annoying.

Great People, not great prices

I have a Mazda that uses a credit card advanced key. After taking it to my mechanic because the car suddenly stopped recognizing my key for the ignition (but not the door locks) he informed me that while Bentley, Mercedes, and BMW allow independent mechanics to program their cars keys, Mazda does not. I had to get a new key at the dealer. I went to Capital Mazda on Wednesday. The staff in the service department were very friendly and helpful, and their prices were competitive with other dealers; though it certainly would be cheaper to do almost anything with an independent mechanic. The diagnostic was $100 (which is applied to the cost of any repairs I do there). Apparently the transponder in my key was going bad, and I quoted $750 for two transponders and one auxiliary key (the spare that slides into the credit card), but they would not be at the dealer until Friday. Two days. Friday I was informed that the keys wouldn't arrive until Monday. I went Monday and the Mazda North America website was down, which apparently was required in the programming process of the keys. So finally on Tuesday I got my car running reliably again. I must say I was very satisfied with the people there. They drove me home and picked me up while I left my car there, since it was getting difficult to start (immobilizer kicks in or something when key's not recognized). I was later shown an override (holding down the unlock button on the key for a couple seconds before starting the car), which allowed me to use the car to get to work over the weekend. I just wish that I'd been shown that the first time I came in, and I wouldn't have left my car there for two days (for no reason as it turns out). I was disappointed that I didn't get anything for the trouble (which granted was out of the dealership's control) of the shipping delays and technical problems. P.S. Friday I called a locksmith and was informed that he CAN program Mazda keys, including the credit card key, and it would have been closer to the $500 range for two keys, but they still would have to be shipped combined with the $100 for the diagnostic I'd lose plus possible restocking fees, I just had to wait until Mo--Tuesday---6 days.

Shady Sales Tactics

In my life I have purchased 5 new cars and all purchases have gone relatively smoothly...until this one. I called into Capital Mazda looking for a new CX-5. I told Mike (salesman) my budget and the features that I preferred in the car. We spoke on the phone several times and Mike was very helpful during the process. We found the car that I wanted and Mike gave me a quote over the phone that he said was approved by his sales manager. I was happy as it was the price I wanted to be at and the exact car that my wife and I wanted. I made an appointment with Mike to come look at the car in person and sign the paperwork. I stressed to Mike that I have two small kids and live an hour (one way) from the dealership. I made a point that I wanted to do the negotiations over the phone so we didnt waste anyone's time. Mike assured me we were good to go on the price and not to worry. What a mistake I made in trusting his word. I drove an hour to the dealership Saturday morning to purchase the car. Mike met me and we drove the car around the block and he showed me all of the features. I was impressed and was ready to buy. We got to his desk and I began filling out paperwork. Mike left to get the final numbers from the sales manager. Boy was I surprised when he showed up with numbers $1750 higher than we had agreed on over the phone. I should have walked out right then, but I gave Mike the benefit of the doubt and tried to let him fix the mistake. Maybe he just forgot our phone conversation. He left and came back with a better number, but still $1000 over the price we had agreed on. He then goes on to tell me that the sales manager doesn't remember agreeing to that price and this price was the best they could do. The old bait and switch. Not only did this dealership try to screw me over, but the sales manager did not even come out of her office to meet with me. I suppose she was too busy/lazy or I was not important enough of a client for her to greet. I have never been to a car dealership, new or used, where the sales manager did not take the time to at the very least say hi. This lady attempted to screw me out of at least $1000 without even a "Hello". I left the dealer extremely pissed off, but ended up purchasing a car at another dealer for $1000 below invoice. Maybe Capital Mazda actually did me a favor in allowing me to buy a better car for a better price elsewhere. I would not recommend purchasing from this dealer. If you do deal with them, make sure you get EVERYTHING IN WRITING.

We purchased a Mazda5 from this dealer and were very happy with the entire process. I initially test drove the vehicle with them. then got an initial quote which I worked on getting as low as I could for the vehicle I was looking for. I shopped around with several other dealers in the area for the exact same thing. No one was able to best their offer. It was a much different experience than I had anticipated. I expected all the typical sales tactics but ended up not having to play the game as some would say. Overall, Great Dealer and experience.
