Everyone Should Be Like DAVID STEVENS

byMike_Mon 08/26/2017

I can't seem to get your link to work [HTML removed] but I can't imagine a better salesman than David Stevens. For the seven months it took to get our car manufactured and close the deal, David bent over backwards to meet our needs. Out of a scale from 1 to 10, David Stevens is an 11! We love our 2017 Toyota 4 with the works! Please relay our appreciation to David!

Shawn Karfs is Awesome!

byGregMon 07/02/2017

I brought a preowned Toyota from another dealership in to Newbold's service department recently to check it over before buying it. Shawn Karfs said "I can glance at it before we bring it back to a technician if you want?" I agreed. He walked over and start pointing out all kinds of major problems with the car that I had not seen!! Really bad stuff! He saved me from making a huge mistake! And because the car didn't have to go back to a technician, he didn't charge me a penny! I am so grateful!! Thanks Shawn!!!! (By the way, I ended up buying a car from Josh Roseke at Newbold that very same day and got a near mint condition vehicle with no problems at all.)

I Highly Recommend Josh Roseke

byGregMon 07/02/2017

I bought a car recently from Newbold and could not be happier with my salesperson Josh Roseke. He really treated us like royalty and worked hard for us. I highly recommend you ask for Josh when you visit Newbold.

2017 Camry Purchase

byskoda10052on 01/24/2017

This dealership has changed for the better. I found Newbold Toyota had the best selection of available cars to choose from. Their prices were the lowest in the St.Louis area. I spent a week checking out other dealerships and they had, by far, the best deal. They have a first class service dept. The parts and service personnel I met were very helpful. My salesman, Jeff Gustafson , was great. He was very knowledgable about the car I was looking for. He explained the process, the service support, and the various options relating to my Camry. The sales management and the accounting personnel were very professional. This was the best car buying experience I have ever had. If you are looking to buy a new Toyota, make sure you check these guys out.

Great Sales Experience, Terrible Follow-up

byteds1952on 12/28/2016

We recently purchased a new Toyota and Matt was our sales person. He was very knowlehgeable about the vehicle and helpful in getting it set-up after the sale. However, I ran into a problem with how they handled the plate transfer and after leaving 4 voicemessages for Matt (none of which were returned) I had to contact the Sales Manager directly to get an answer. The result is that I have to repurchase the vanity plates that we have had for over 10 years because the transfer wasn't done properly at the dealer and it is now my problem to deal with (in the meantime I am driving on illegal plates until I resolve this with the state) One would think that the dealer would know how to handle plate transfers.

Good customer service on purchase of a new Corolla ECO LE. Purchased at a fair price. Everyone was no pressure even when talking price. I will review the service department in the future when I use them.

Horrible experience won't go back

byJasonNaon 12/30/2015

After several calls and a trip to the dealer the night we were supposed to come in with our trade-in (which was getting some work done) to work a deal on the car, we get a call from the salesman that they sold it without even a courtesy call.

Spent as much time as necessary and showed us as many cars as we wished to look at. Was able to settle on purchase price reasonably quick. Salesman friendly and very helpful.

$160 fule injector cleaning on my elderly mothers car with less than 30,000

bydennis141on 06/21/2014

I have purchased two car's from this dealership. I had a decent experience with the car sales person. I did get a better deal buying a warranty from another dealership for half the price they wanted to sell me one for, but other than that and high pressure to buy their overpriced service warranty it was not a bad experience. That was until my elderly mother took her 2009 in for her 30,000 maintenance service. She called me and informed me she had been told she needed her fuel injectors cleaned for $160 and her back breaks cleaned on her front wheel drive car for another $60. for a total of $220 on top of the scheduled maintenance for the car. I could not believe what I was hearing. I called immediately and spoke with a Jamie who told me that he had a bachelors degree in this and that the Toyota would not get as good gas mileage without this service and he performed it on his wife's car every 15,000. I laughed at him and asked him how he measure how dirty the fuel injector was. He finally admitted after much b.s. that they just look at it. No equipment no reading the cars computer. I asked him again why a car with 30,000 miles would need this service, once again he told me that cars will not maintain their gas mileage and this service fixes that. Funny how Toyota does not put that in scheduled maintenance. I will be contacting them and letting them know that the service dept at this dealership does not think their cars can maintain their mileage without this service being done. I will also be asking Toyota why it's does not have the rear brakes cleaned on a front wheel drive car listed on the scheduled maintenance. I mean really dusting off your breaks, wont they just get a little more dusty next time you use them, What a useless service this is. I called an spoke with a mechanic I know who lives out of the area I live in. He told me he has only had to do around 10 fuel injection cleaning in his lifetime when he was a Honda mechanic and it was certainly not needed in a car that had only 30,000 miles. I was told this was a rip off and just an up sell by the dealership. They played on my elderly mothers fears to get her to spend money she does not have, because she was worried something was going to be wrong with her car. That is about as low as it gets.

New Management, Great Focus!

bytrex421on 09/11/2012

We bought a van from Newbold in 2011 and another in 2012 and had the single greatest car-buying experience. Many of the reviews are older and do not reflect the new management and a completely new focus on excellence. I highly recommend that anyone who has had a negative experience give them another chance - we did after a bad experience in 2008, and we're glad we did.

Very unprofessional staff - 3.5 hour wait and no results

byafkbradon 08/11/2011

Went into the dealership with a printout of the vehicle I wanted and a price quote. Not rocket science to get the sale especially since we told them we were buying a truck that day. It was a price quote from another Toyota dealer and they said they'd honor it. 3.5 hours into the waiting game there was no answer on the credit application and we weren't any closer to sealing the deal. With two hungry kids anxious to go after 3.5 hours we told the sales manager we had errands to run and to call us when they were ready to sign the papers. That's when things went from really bad to the worst possible. The sales manager raised his voice at us in front of everyone in the dealership saying he wanted assurances we were going to buy the vehicle before proceeding. I thought it was clear when we came in already having picked out a vehicle and told them we were ready to buy. Never in my life have I seen such an unprofessional action from a manager. After 3.5 hours waiting around with no results he should understand if people are hungry and have a life to live. That wasn't my first bad experience at Newbold. The first vehicle I purchased I asked the salesman if it had stability control. He said he'd check and came back and assured me it did. He lied. When we purchased our second vehicle the finance department had pre-filled out paperwork with tons of add ons. We told them upfront no extra warranties or other garbage yet they still tried to slip one by us. Newbold could have had an easy sale. However, after 3.5 hours of waiting and then being yelled at by a manager in front of the entire showroom they've lost this customer for life.

Disgusted

byplado22on 11/01/2010

This dealership had a gimick to get people into the dealership (target gift cards) which of course they ran out of quickly, giving out a raincheck... which again they did not have when they said they would. I wanted to test drive a car, but of course the 'keys were locked up' for the one I wanted to drive.... I was told if I come back on Monday, the car would be ready at a certain time.... hahahaha That was not true, either.... the car was still not available for me to test drive!!! This dealership had no regard for my time.... Did they think if I sat there for an hour I would want a different car???? Oh, and then while I was sitting with this African American female who was dressed better than I was, prettier and younger than I was, and there before me, 2 salesmen asked me if I was waited on!!!! I had heard African Americans complain about this before but I had never experienced it first hand until this day!!!! I will never go to this dealership again!

Horrible Experience

bywarriormomon 08/05/2009

I wanted to email and tell you about our experience tonight. We called and arranged to see Derek. My husband and I were trying to decide between the Highlander & Rav4. I spoke with Derek and he agreed to stay late to help us. I told him that we would call when we were on our way and that my family would still need to get dinner tonight and have my husband to work by 9pm in Bethalto, IL. I also explained that we were driving from Godfrey, IL. I explained that we would be bringing my parents and son. I told him that my son was 5 and had Autism & that we needed to make sure that we get the vehicle that was best for him. We arrived at about 5:50pm. We had called on the way and told Derek we were in route. I had given him the information about my van and asked for a rough idea of the trade in value. He said he would have that information by the time we got there. He greeted us and showed us both vehicles. We decided on the Rav4. My dad liked it so much too that he asked Derek to look for 2. Derek agreed and we head back inside. On the way in, Derek started talking the another gentlemen about a truck. Derek put us in front of the tv (Wheel of Fortune was just starting.) and told us that someone was coming right over. At the end of Wheel of Fortune & having talked to no one, I went to located Derek. He was no where to be found. We decided to leave. I told the young lady to tell Derek that we waited for 30 minutes with nothing & had decided to leave. As we were leaving, we saw Derek in a truck with this other guy trying to sell him a truck. HE DITCHED US!!!!!!!! I can't believe this happened. We were there first and had made arrangements to see Derek. There were other salesmen available. We wasted 30 minutes of our time on nothing. I was never given any information on my trade. No vehicle was ever located for me. I don't appreciate having my time & gas wasted in such a manner. I also don't appreciate being ditched!!!!!!!! My sale and business should be just as important to anyone else's. Believe me, I will let my friends and family know what has happened. You also lost a second potential sale tonight from my parents. I run a support group for families dealing with Autism. I always let them know about how we are treated and the accommodations that our made for our kids. I don't know if my business is not as important as a man's or if my son's Autism was the problem. To be honest, I really don't care at this point. Derek could have let someone else help us. We were his responsibility!!!!!!!!!!! I am looking very forward to our appointment tomorrow afternoon to get a Rav4. I hope his truck sale was worth it:( Derek never even bothered to call my cell after we left to even attempt to apologize!!!!!!!!!! I really don't even have the words to express my anger and disappointment. I have never written a review on line of any business, but I am certainly going to invest my time tonight doing just that. I hope the time is taken to read this email. I am sure you will find this same information in my review of our experience. PSalvato

No-Hassle purchasing at Newbold Toyota

bycolinblairon 09/29/2007

I have had a harder time signing up for a cell phone than buying a car at Newbold Toyota. I Received a bid for a new 2007 Camry SE V6 from Brad Clanney at Newbold Toyota through a request I submitted through Cars.Com. The price was good and it was exactly the car that I was looking for down to the color so I jumped on it. When I went to actually pick up the car I only had to sign and initial a few forms and the car was mine. I actually ended up paying a little less per month than had been quoted in e-mail.

Transmission problem? I think not.

bypengwinon 07/25/2007

Took my car in for maintenance, said transmission was bad, and needed to be replaced, just so happened to find it after my warranty expired, I didn't want to pay $4k for a new tranny since the car was worth about 10k, Now it has 130k miles, runs fine, tranny isnt slipping, nothing I can feel is wrong. Dealership trying to make money? I think so. If you really must, then take it to them, if not i'd suggest taking it across the river into St.L and getting it serviced at a more honest dealership.
