Dishonest business practices at Hawk jeep
I purchased a brand new loaded out Jeep Wrangler back in February 2014, cash deal. I traded in 2 different cars and the rest cash. Due to the deal being a bit complicated with the tax savings on my trades, Heather my sales lady, Sam the general sales manager and Tom Crane one of the owners had the chance to inflate the price on the Jeep thru the camaflage of lots of different numbers on the paperwork. I caught them in the act 3 different times. First was was over 2000.00 2nd was 1200.00 and the third was 500.00 give or take. They deliberately tried to pull the wool over my eyes and play it off as a mistake. Well shortly after I finally was able to get the deal finished with these dishonest people. I started receiving letters from the cook county tax accessors office that the newly enacted 1 percent tax for cook county residents wasn't paid. Which was Hawks responsibility. It was only 91.00 on one of my trades. That I got 4700.00 trade allowance for. So I had no reason not to believe it wouldn't be paid by Hawk. I mean after all, that is the dealers responsibility. So a couple months goes by, and now I get a second more threatening letter from cook county. Now I call Hawk titles and registration lady Jennifer Simon back and demand answers. She apologized and promised it would get paid for sure this time. I forwarded her letter again. So 2 whole years go by and I come to find out it was never paid, and now I have a judgement on my credit bureau for 161.00 penalties, late fees and what not. So I stopped up at Hawk yesterday and spoke to Robert the new general sales manager and confronted him about how I was outright lied to by this lady Jennifer Simon that handles their titles, plates and registration. So Robert leaves me at his desk and goes to talk to owner Joe Crane, whom by the way didn't even have the decency to come and face me. No class! Owner sends Robert back to tell me they would pay part of judgment. I replied back, "you have got to be crazy if you think I'm paying any of this"! then I said where is the lady that was supposed to handle this and get it paid? Robert replies she's in the back office busy at the moment. Robert gives me the usual used car salesman malarkey and says he'll look into it and call me. So I get a phone call this evening, Roberts exact words from owner Joe Crane were as follows. "Your on your own"! How does this dealership get away with these dishonest practices? So basically Hawk told me to screw off. These people at Hawk are the worst of the worst. Their reviews speak for themselves. Felt like I was dealing with some shady used car lot on western avenue. Disgusts me this is the world we live in that these dealerships can so easily screw the little guy out of money and laugh about it. The owners of Hawk have no Class, Morals, or Backbone to even face a customer with a legit concern. These owners hide behind their little curtain and use their sales managers to pull off the magic acts on good hard working Americans. My advice is to Stay away from Hawk at all costs! They will get over on you some how some way.
I had a great visit with hawk dealership in forest park .Was treated with great patience for a inconvenience that was puzzling to my vehicle. It was two days to solve and fix the problem but Brian my Service guy just owned the reposibilty of repairing my Suv. He was very kind and patient. Thanks Hawk DCJeep
Best sales and service
Whenever I had to visit the service dept. I always dealt with Mark. He is the most honest and nicest mechanic(service advisor) I had ever met. When I was looking to buy a new car, I went to Mark and he introduced me to Heather L. This lady knows her stuff. She worked her magic and got me in a new car that I LOVE!
Easiest Transaction Ever!
While buying a new car can be nerve-racking , Chris, from Hawk Hawk Chrysler Jeep Ram, made this the best experience I've ever had buying a new vehicle. He went above & beyond my expectations. He not only fully explained the vehicle, but took the time to show me everything the dealership had to offer as well. It was worth my while to travel the extra distance from Indiana for the service I received!
Unprofessional, Never Complete On Time
Absolutely the WORST service department we've ever come across...for any product. Anywhere. We had some issues with the Jeep we bought there. A repair or even diagnosis has NEVER been completed on time. Once, it took more than 45 minutes bouncing from on hold to on hold ...just to find out when out vehicle to be done. The dealership general manager "Sammy" even said he would take care of us since the service department did such a terrible job. And then HE completely botched it, again not having a repair as simple as replacing badges completed when promised, THREE TIMES. We even left our vehicle with them over a week vacation. That means there's not even anyone higher to complain to! Again, in a bind with a check engine light and heading out on a trip, we set an appointment for 6:30 pm Wednesday. It's now 6:30 pm on Thursday and it's "up on a lift" with no word even on what's wrong. WTF make an appontment then? That surely means it will be fixed in time for our trip on Friday, right? No one's perfect, but no one is this bad and disrespectful either. Looking at other reviews, next time I'm heading to Larry Roesch Jeep Dodge 200 W Grand Ave, Elmhurst.
I had just recently but a Jeep Grand Cherokee from this dealership. I had found the car online and called regarding interest in the car. They did offer me the online price that was listed. The buying process went so smoothly. I got to the dealership around 100pm and I took it for a test drive. All of the finances and everything was completed around 400pm and I was able to drive the car home. The sales woman who took care of everything was very nice and went through all of the electronics inside of the car. This included how to change radio stations, linking your phone to the car and personalizing settings. I would definitely recommend this dealership to my friends and family.
Ask for Chris K.! Chris is a great listener, and made sure to locate exactly what I was looking for. I love my new 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, thanks to Chris!!
Beware of this place
I've never written a review of anything online but felt compelled to warn others of how dishonest this place is. They clearly have no problem lying. They make empty promises that they have no intention of keeping. I went in to this place and they promised a price on a new car. I told them I needed to think about it. The next day, I called to say I was going to come in and get the car. They said ok, good. Left work early and drove 2 hours in rush hour traffic to get there. When I get there, they apparently assumed that I would not notice if they tried and raise the promised price from the day before by $2,000. They didn't say this of course, they just wrote it down and tried to get me to sign it. After I point this 2k discrepancy out to them, the sales manager comes over and tells me that he can't sell me the car at the price they promised the day before. Perhaps they thought they had some kind of new found leverage because I came right back the next day. What a huge waste of my time. The sales manager, Damien, was full of himself and clearly has no problem wasting other peoples time. He was totally unapologetic about any of this. They also tried to rip me off with some backwards math regarding a loan they were trying to sell me that I didn't even want to begin with. A 19k loan at 72 months at 2.14% is not $328/month. This was neither a mistake nor a misunderstanding and it didn't stop them from writing this down and trying to get me to sign off on this fraudulent loan. If this is how they treat people before selling the car, I can only imagine how they treat people after they've sold the car. No reason to do business at this place. There are plenty of other dealerships in Chicago that sell the same products in a more trustworthy manner. There is a culture of lying and deception at Hawk Jeep. No integrity whatsoever. I suspect any good reviews of this place are fake. This review should actually be for Zero Stars I left there and immediately went to another jeep dealer and bought the same exact car that night. Had a great, easy, honest experience at a different dealer.
the Purchase of a SUV FRom Hawk
Several months ago we purchased a gently used SUV from the Hawk Dealership of Forrest Park (which was about 150 miles from our home) and found the process quite professional and satisfactory after having to deal with some very unprofessional salespersons in our local area. Chris K. (I still can't pronounce his last name correctly, but I know it's Greek!), Carl, Joel, and Mike I believe were very helpful in adapting a deal to meet our needs within our budget. When we found the vehicle over the internet and talked to Chris over the phone, he went out of his way to get us the needed information, set up the financing, and went out of his way to meet us at our convenience. Therefore I have to highly recommend that anyone considering buying a vehicle should definitely look at what Hawk has to offer before they buy and talk to Chris who is admittedly a very great and busy sales representative. Thanks again Chris and Hawk!
Worked with Chris K to try and get my daughter a car. He had a couple that would possibly fit. He was honest and up front when we got down to applying for a loan. He didn't make us jump through hoops to try for a loan that we might not have gotten. In a few months when she is more ready I will definitely go back to Chris. And when I need a new car myself he will be my first and probably last stop.
Purchased a car
I purchased a car from Hawk Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram. I worked with Chris K. he was great he answered every question that we had regarding the car. Chris worked very hard to find the car that my husband wanted. Thanks Chris you are the best.
Very friendly and honest online communication
I was in very thorough conversations with Chris K, one of the online support salesmen. He was very open and honest with me, which I greatly appreciated. He answered all my questions in a very timely manner. I ended up going another route with my purchase, but because I had such a pleasant experience with him I wanted to review him/the dealer anyway.
Great Customer Service!
Bought my car from Hawk, super easy deal and great people to work with. Get my car serviced here regularly as well. Definitely recommend!
Do Not Trust THis Place Wish I Would Have Seen These Reviews!!
I bought a Jeep here and they were very nice during the sales session. I was told the Jeep had two keys. I was hoping for 3 as i was concerned with the keyless entry. When i got home i asked my son for the 2nd key and he said they never gave it to him. I called right away and afters months of LIES!!! no key. I made a claim to my credit card but in the end I didn't have in writing two keys. Honestly when you buy a car I think everyone expects 2 keys. The car was only a year old! They NEVER once mentioned they couldn't find the other key. They then LIED to my credit card company about what they said and I guess I am naive because lying just taste wrong in my mouth. I will now be buying myself a second key but NOT from this dishonest place they will not get another penny of my money!!! Do not buy here!!!
Buying a car through Hawk was a surprisingly easy experience. The sales rep I worked with, Chris, was very responsive. Unlike the 7 other dealers I emailed for quotes, he responded with exactly the information I requested. I had asked for dealer's invoice and a price quote with a breakdown of all the options, taxes, fees, and incentives. We kept up a regular correspondence until I was ready to buy during which he always answered all my questions. Negotiations at the dealership were very easy. Chris came in on his day off and stayed late to accommodate us. They accepted our offer, which was below the TMV price without all the bickering I would have expected. In fact, I think it threw my husband, who spends his days negotiating deals. The negotiations for the trade-in value of our truck and also the APR on our financing were equally as satisfying. The only dissatisfying part of the experience came in the F&I office. The finance manager (Mike I think) didn't try to sell us a bunch products we didn't need or use any kind of pressure. However, when my husband noticed a small difference in price he said he would change it. What he did was change the total and then added the change as an optional fee on the line under it. He also continued to make snide comments on the silliness of the change after he made it, despite the fact that I'm sure he could tell I was embarrassed by it. The change was very minuscule but the way he handled was rude. Despite that small hiccup, I thought everyone involved in the process was very helpful and made it a low stress experience for me.
Customer service leaves a lot to be desired
Beware of these guys...follow-up customer service skills are non-existent. They threw in a lot of deals to get me to buy the car and when I called a week later, asking the salesman who sold me the car about a promised part, he told me he had no idea who I was, what I was talking about, and hung up, never asking for my name or phone number. Would never buy a car from him again. Had to talk to the sales manager to get anywhere. Also, communication between the sales department and the parts department isn't great. Sales manager promised me a part would be installed, however, the service department had no idea how to install it and my car sat in the dealership for two days waiting for them to learn how to install it. Not the service department's fault; the sales manager should have been truthful and told me they didn't know how to do it.
DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!
The worst customer service imaginable. Promises made, promises not kept! The management should be embarrassed! A promise of "yes we inspect our cars from the factory, before we offer it to the customer" I think not. A major issue over looked, and not care for the consumer. No wonder why Dodge ranks last, it's because of shady dealers like this. Stay away if you know whats good!!!!!
Worst customer service ever....
Spoke with Brian regarding a vehicle for sale. Told me that my offer was accepted, and that I could come in a make the purchase. Drove to Forest Park, from the Chicago border of Indiana (A LONG WAY). Got there within an hour, only to be told that the vehicle had been sold. No one ever even apologized. TOTAL waste of time. Don't do business with this insensative dealer.
I began speaking with the member of the sales team at Park Plaza on Tuesday, of the week in reference. We set up an appointment for Saturday, after making a deal on Thursday. Many email request for photo's of the vehicle were never responded to. After arriving at the dealer on Saturday, I awaited as the vehicle was brought to me. The vehicle had a strong interior odor, electrical equipment was inoperable, the body had considerable damage, the vehicle was misaligned, and the windshield on the vehicle was broken. When I inquired as to why the vehicle was not in condition to be delivered, the salesman scoffed, "hey, you're getting a great deal!" I was then told that I could take delivery on that day, return with the vehicle on Monday, and the deficiencies would be corrected. When I suggested that I leave the vehicle, return on Monday, and see if it met my standards, the salesman told me that it would be impossible, because the vehicle would be sent to auction on Monday morning, if a deal wasn't made that same day. I declined, and left the dealership. A week later, I received a call from a manager asking me if I was still interested in the vehicle in question. When I asked him to confirm that it was the same vehicle, the manager confirmed the stock number, year, and model. I digress.......
On Monday, July 27, 2009, I purchased the Caliber ST from Park Plaza Dodge. During the purchase negotiations I was told by the salesman, Gabriel, (in front of a witness) that the vehicle had a factory installed security system. Later, when I got home and reviewed the vehicle owner's manual for instructions on the security system, I discovered there was no security system installed on the vehicle. I also discovered that on the financial paperwork that I had signed, I had been charged $199.00 more than the final price negotiated with the salesman. I also found the missing vehicle's window sticker conveniently folded and stored in the glove compartment. On Tuesday, July 28th, I called the dealership and explained my complaints to the Sales Manager, Sammy H., and he arranged a meeting at the dealership for Wednesday, July29th, to discuss the matter. At that meeting I was told the $199.00 overcharge on the financial paperwork was due to a computer system error which resulted in a $199.00 charge being added to the price of the vehicle instead of a $199.00 credit for the non-existent security system. Sammy H. told me that I had 2 options. (1) The dealership would issue me a check for the overcharge of $199.00 or (2) the dealership would install a security system. I told him that both options, or $398.00, were required to make me whole; but he refused my request. At that point, I asked if I could return the vehicle and cancel the transaction. He told me that was not an option, so I told him I would pursue other avenues to resolve the matter and I left. On Thursday afternoon, July 30th, I received a call from a salesman at the dealership by the name of Damian. He told me the dealership had changed its mind and wanted to know if I still wanted to return the vehicle and cancel the transaction. I told him I would return the vehicle the next day. However, later that evening I learned from the TV news the government rebate program that I used to purchase the vehicle was out of funds. Therefore, I concluded that it would not be in my best interest to give up the $3500.00 government rebate and the $4500.00 manufacturer's rebate (which was also ending the next day). On Friday morning, July 31st, I called Damian at the dealership and informed him that I had changed my mind and would not be returning the vehicle. Later that afternoon I received a call from Damian telling me I could not change my mind and I needed to return their vehicle immediately or the dealership would send the police to my home to arrest me. I told him that I did not believe they had any legal grounds to have me arrested and hung up. Thirty minutes later, Gabriel from the dealership called me and told me he was giving me one last chance to return the vehicle. If I didn't return it by 5:30pm, I would be arrested and charged with theft. I told him I would not be returning the vehicle and that I would explain my position to the police when, and if, they came. That was the last communication that I had with anyone from the dealership and I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Illinois Attorney General.
