Worst Dealership Ever

by beachxbabi1392 on 01/11/2018

Tamiami Hyundai is by far the WORST dealership I have ever dealt with. I own a 2013 Sonata Hybrid that I bought new in the Spring of 2014. It currently has 32,800 miles and has been the biggest headache I have ever dealt with. I took my car to Tamiami Hyundai for a routine oil change. I made an appointment, showed up on time, and even planned for it to take longer than it should. I waited for one and a half hours only for the serviceman to come out and try to upsell me on filters, maintenance kits, and other packages. When I declined, I asked how much longer the car would be and the gentleman said they had to put it back together. After another 15 minutes, I asked again for an update. I was told they were bringing it around. After another 5 minutes, I asked where they were "bringing it around" from as I needed to get to work and this was making me late. Eventually, a few minutes later, my car appeared. After that, I had a recall that needed to be completed. I scheduled an appointment and stated I needed a loaner car since I could not be late to work again. When I arrived, on time, I was walked to Hertz on site where I waited over 15 minutes for a person to appear to assist with a vehicle. This again made me late to work when I allotted ample time. Most recently, it was time again for a routine oil change. I scheduled an appointment and said I had some difficulty with the high beams flickering and my automatic window not operating fully. They added there was another recall on the vehicle. Due to all of this work, I requested a loaner vehicle since I could not sit at the dealership all day fixing manufacturer defaults. They said they do not offer loaners but I could take their complimentary shuttle, which only operates during regular business hours when I would be working, or pay for a rental car. I eventually spoke to a manager, John Atashian, who agreed to the loaner vehicle. When I dropped off the vehicle, I went over all the same questions and was again told they do not loan out vehicles. I explained the situation and the gentleman went to inspect my car. When he returned he said they would have provided a loaner anyway since it's a hybrid. It would have been nice if he had gotten all of the information so I would not have to argue in that case. I later received a call saying the high beams required a part they had to order. To my dismay, this would mean I would have to return yet again and most likely have to argue all of the same points just for Hyundai to correct a MANUFACTURER DEFAULT. Also, please note my car was never in any accidents to cause any damage of any kind. When I called to make the follow up appointment for the high beams I was told the shuttle operated until 6pm daily and I could then take that instead of a loaner car. All I cared about was getting to and from work in a timely fashion. When I appeared at the dealer, I asked if I could arrange for the shuttle pick up as I would need it at 5:45pm when I got off work. He said I could schedule it when they called to tell me my car was finished. When I entered the shuttle, knowing the driver would most likely be the same all day, I asked him if I could schedule a pick up at 5:45pm. He said he could not since the shuttle finished at 5pm. I told him we would need to turn around as I would be stranded if we continued. When I got back to Tamiami Hyundai, I explained that I was quite angry since I arranged this in advance and was now going to be late to work, for the third time due to this dealership. The gentleman was nonchalant and clearly wasn't bothered by the fact that I was given misinformation by representatives of their company. He spoke to his manager to inquire if a loaner car could be taken care of and returned without saying anything to me. After a minute, I asked if I should go to Hertz since I was in a huge hurry due to their miscommunication. He replied with an attitude and I walked to Hertz where the woman commented, "you were here the other day weren't you." If the rental car company knows who you are, you know you have a problem. In addition to the recalls I mentioned, there were at least one or two others that I am forgetting. Almost every time I go for any work, it is brought to my attention that there has been a recall Considering I spent over $20,000 to avoid problems that used cars often have, I cannot convey how truly disappointing and aggravating my experiences have been. I will never buy a Hyundai again, at the very least so I never have to deal with Tamiami Hyundai again. I will say, John Atashian has been helpful at times. He did agree to rotate my tires complimentary since I had so much trouble. He also was the gentleman who okayed the loaner cars on various occasions. I also reached out to Tamiami Hyundai's General Manager, Greg Abraham. He offered no compensation and said they will "attempt to get better in many ways." He was very short and showed no genuine care.

Questionable Business Practice

by JoeinNaples on 01/08/2018

Went to Tamiami Hyundai to buy out a lease on a Hyundai that was leased on the east coast of Florida. Paid the amount specified in the lease plus a several hundred dollars "processing fee" and title fees. Received a call later from the dealership saying there was going to be an additional $400 fee from Hyundai Leasing, but that they would send a check to me to cover it. Never got the check, but got a bill for the $400 because they were informed that the car was returned not purchased. I was told to bring the bill to the dealership and they would write a check. Got a call the next day from the General Manager saying no need to come in because all was taken care of and the fee was waived. I called Hyundai Leasing and was told that the $400 had not been paid, and they would not released their lien on the title until it was. I asked why there were any issue and was told that most likely the dealership tried to buy the vehicle from Hyundai Leasing for less than the residual amount. Spoke with the General Manager and was told everything was cleared up and I could pick up the title a few days later. The day I was supposed to pick up the title the GM called me and said they had to redo the title work and it would be ready in a few days. I called Hyundai Leasing to confirm that the $400 fee had been taken care of and they released the lien on the title and was told that they did not get the payment, and hadn't released the lien. Tried to contact the GM but he has not returned the call.

Hurricane Fraud

by Jo_2017 on 09/24/2017

I recently went into the center because the dealer who sold me my car a couple months ago told me he could help me with my car situation after Hurricane Irma hit. The insurance company was wanting to offer me a few thousand dollars lower then what it was worth and the dealer said that was insane and he had a great deal for me to help. The dealer knew I was brand new to the area and this was my first car I have ever bought. I bought my new Elantra all up front with no lease. I specifically said I do not want to have payments I want to pay for it all right now. He said the Tamiami Hyundai company was trying to help their customers with hurricane insurance. I was told I could get a new Elantra if I leased the car and paid for it all upfront. So I assumed that meant I would pay for it all at once and be on my way. According to various emails I received about matching and helping with insurance money I assumed it would be only a little out of pocket to myself. So my dealer basically said it was going to be a great deal and I should take the money because you all would help me the rest of the way. But while I was waiting for my loan process I finally got my dealer to eventually spill the facts that in 3 years I would owe 13-14000 dollars on top of the 14000 I was going to pay upfront. I literally thought I was going to pass out. I am a single 27 year old woman who has moved from across the country to live here. My dealer knew I was all alone with no family here, scared, and just overwhelmed from this traumatic experience. He knew I was a teacher on a limited budget. He even pat me on the back and told me everything was going to be okay. Luckily I was able to withdraw my insurance claim because there is no way I would ever be able to afford to pay 14000 on a car in 3 years after I spent 14000 on it upfront. I would be in financial trouble and would seriously be trouble in medically because of the stress this would cause on me. In fact, this whole thing was very stressful and caused me to breakdown. I mean we have just survived a cat 4 hurricane and I get taken advantage of at a dealership that i loved and trusted. I still can not believe how I was treated and how the dealer immediately changed his face and approach towards me when I finally found out what was really going on. I spent over 2 hours at the dealership that day when I could have been at my home working on it after finally getting power back after 9 days. I love my Elantra and was planning on being a Hyundai car owner for life but this has extremely effected my decision. I have lost my faith in this dealership and the company in general. We are supposed to help each other after natural disasters not use each other for profit.

Very disappointing after buying several cars from them

by mgjordansr on 02/22/2017

5/7 recent google ratings are one star! I'm not surprised given my recent unfortunate experience! This is my 4th purchase from Tamiami Hyundai and my first bad experience. I was quoted a lease payment and when they couldn't deliver on the payment amount they decided to "shop" me to other lenders. I specifically told them I was buying a home and that they were only authorized to run my credit once. Instead they shopped me to four lenders and this lowered my credit score to a point I'm now having to pay a higher rate on my mortgage. They put the sale ahead of the customer. I've given them every opportunity to resolve this and all they do is argue that they got the deal done. Well their goals and my goals are very different. Their goal was the deal and my goal was getting what I was promised. I thought my sales person (Eddie Garcia) would go to bat for me since he's been the salesman on 4 deals but all he did was justify the process and focus on the end result. He just sent me a text saying that "from here on I'm not available to you". They thought me getting a new car was important - it wasn't. I only wanted a new car if it made sense.

The mechanic spilled coffee in my car...seriously!?!?!?!

by 239Living on 02/07/2017

I was in for service on 2/4/17 at 9:30 am for a warranty repair issue. While I was sitting outside in the service drive waiting for my vehicle to be inspected, I saw the mechanic walking to my vehicle with a completely full cup of coffee, no lid, and so full I saw steam coming from it. I saw him get into my vehicle and drive away. I sat waiting only hoping that the coffee was not spilled into my vehicle. After the service was completed I was presented with the paperwork, asked to sign, and I was told my vehicle was waiting. I would like to point out that there was NO mention that a mistake was made, or that coffee was spilled in my car. I went to my car and as soon as I opened the door I could smell the strong odor of coffee and it was completely obvious that it was spilled in my vehicle. The driver’s side seat was wet with coffee, the center console, and the driver’s side door. The fact that I need to write this review is mind blowing! The fact that they let their mechanics into customer's vehicle with ANY beverage is beyond unprofessional! I would NEVER expect that from a dealership! I understand accidents happen, but for a mechanic to spill coffee in my car is something that should NEVER in a million years happen. It is completely 100% unacceptable, and unprofessional!

Never again

by GabrielB on 11/11/2016

I bought a Genesis from this place. Worst experience ever... after I bought the car the manager didn't even shake my hand, or said anything. I found out that the price of the car was lower advertised on their website, than I bought it for. They tried to blame it on 3rd party (their own website), and then something about disclaimers. (lame excuses). I will make sure that I will not return back to this place for my next vehicle. The only nice person was the finance person.

BAIT and SWITCH

by scamedinnaples on 10/14/2015

The biggest example of BAIT and SWITCH, the worst customer service imaginable, and a finance manager by the name of David Madreros who gets angry if you don't want to buy GAP insurance and will tell you anything you want to hear until you drive away with the car. Took a friend with me to Tamiami Hyundai on August 15th, 2015, found the 2016 Hyundai Elantra that was exactly what I wanted, the salesman Steve Kalinowski gave me a trade in value for my Honda CRV that I was happy with, wrote my order up and moved me on down the hall to the Finance Managers office. The finance manager Dave Maderos took my application, said everything looked fine, he would have no problem finding someone to finance me at a good interest rate, that I just had to sign a few papers and I could get into my new car and drive away. I stated specifically, that I was not taking the car or signing the papers until I knew who was financing me and exactly what my payments would be. I stated this clearly and repeatedly. It took a very long time in his office while he was on his computer before he announced to me that he had found a lender (Grow Financial) and that I was locked in at $348.09 per month. I signed my papers of sale with Grow Financial as my financer, my payment was set and I drove away my new car. My Filthy new car, but that's another Tamiami Hyundai story. Almost 2 months have gone by and I have yet to receive any information regarding my car payment, so I called David Maderos to inquired about it. David said it was no big deal, just stop by and bring the payment to him along with 2 more recent pay stubs. I went in Monday October 11th where I was met by another Finance Manager by the name of Remi Mendozzi who informed me that David was on vacation and he would now be assisting me. Once I was seated in Mr. Mendozzi's office I handed him the copys of my 2 most recent pay stubs, he set them aside and went on to inform me that they were unable to secure financing for my car loan from anyone except Hyundai and that it would change my payments from $348.09 that was originally agreed upon when the sale was made, to a $408.00 payment per month. I said that it was absolutely unacceptable for me to even consider a $60.00 per month increase on a payment that was clearly stated as locked in before I even took possession of the car. To say that from the moment that I entered his office, Remi Mendozzi was rude, condescending and intimidating would be an understatement. In fact it was so uncomfortable that I said I had to leave and go to work just to get out of there and gather my whits about me. I returned to speak with and settle this matter with Mr. Mendozzi the next day, October 12th, and was met with the same nastiness and intimidating tactics as he tried to use the day before only today I recorded the whole conversation. From the time I walked into Mr. Mendozzi's office until the time I left 1 hour and 3 minutes later it is very, very clear to anyone listening to this conversation, the dishonest and intimidating tactics whith which this business and it's employess operate. I left Tamiami Hyundai with two things: a car payment of $8.00 more per month than my original sales agreement and a complete and very clear audio recording of who these people really are and what a $36,000 scam looks like. This is just my first post. Now onto every news channel, news paper, social media outlet, better business and consumer protection agency.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

by skoeppel on 02/19/2015

I urge everyone to NOT conduct business with this dealership and save yourself the headache. I have never interacted with such INCOMPETENT and misinforming individuals in my entire life. My experience with Tamiami Hyundai started when I came across a used BMW on their lot that I was interested in. My e-mail exchange began with Kevin Poeling. Our electronic communication, up until my in-person appointment with him, was positive. We scheduled an appointment and I ended up purchasing the used car from him (later to realize that this would be an incredible mistake) and, in turn, provided to him my trade-in that was a leased vehicle. A few days later, following completion of the transaction, I received a bill for $650 because their dealership did NOT do their part and obtain an accurate payout for my car prior to closing the sale. While at the dealership, Kevin did not inform me that there was the possibility for ANY sort of discrepancy until I questioned this information when I received the bill. I contact the managers, who simply informed me that this was not their responsibility. I was appalled at the blatant disregard for the customer and lack of service they provided following the closing of my near $20,000 sale. I regret to believe, looking back, that Kevin likely knew what the outcome would be and suspected that I would owe additional funds but did not want to say anything at the time for fear of not obtaining the deal. He did not do what was in my best interest and demonstrated distasteful business practice. Numerous times he indicated that he was "not a typical salesman" but turned out to be just that. He prided himself on being a veteran of the industry and a successful one at that; however, I am hesitant to believe that someone with his REPORTED level of experience had no idea that I would owe additional funds AFTER a signed contract was complete. To top it all off, I received an ADDITIONAL bill for tag and registration, which was already estimated in my contract at $130 and then billed at $388.35, creating the difference of $258.35, and thus the amount of my second bill. Again, this dealership should know what a tag and registration fee is! I have bought numerous cars in the past and never have I ever received a bill for close to $1,000 AFTER a transaction is complete. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with this dealership and I urge others to consider other dealerships nearby, as it is not worth the hassle or headache to deal with Tamiami Hyundai. They come HIGHLY unrecommended given their obvious incompetence and blatant disregard for customer service and satisfaction. Please shop elsewhere and/or contact me if you have any questions, as I would be happy to reiterate why this experience was beyond unimaginable and ridiculous!

Poor Car Bad Service

by elder9 on 08/20/2014

Sonata Hybrid with 12,400 miles and the transmission blew up. Never lived up to promised mileage Hobbled into the dealer and then I had to call to find out the problem, Then what would be done about it, when, etc. Only the mechanic Anthony ever talked with me or even knew the car was there. When I call and try to talk to him (since they do not call the customer) we are disconnected, shifted to voice mail, etc. Now, CAN I TRUST this car ever again? Hyundai???? Would I trust and Equus? 6 people at the service desk and none seem to know what is happening or even basic customer care (like calling and updating, status report, etc.)

"service was outstanding." Stranded.

by Frank1129 on 09/21/2013

Your warranty and the way your service department stands behind your product is great. My car had a problem with the Battery and the car would not start, in a parking lot, between cars. I had a meeting in Marco Island and called for service. The service department took full control and within 15 mins. the car was picked up, returned to your service department, replacing the battery and offered to me a ride to get my Vera Cruz. The best part there was no charge ...... The maintenance shop and personnel were Outstanding. The service was impeccable.
