Chatty

by NWGST on 04/08/2024

For the most part my service visit was fine. The people at the express desk were courteous and efficient. When I went to the service desk to make another appointment things did not go so well. There were two employees at the desk, one was attending to a customer the other had no one and was facing the other employee talking. I was unable to make eye contact with the free employee so I said”I would like to make an appointment”. The reply was “I’ll get with you when I’am done Chatting. I left and spoke with the Service Manager. The manager spoke with me in a professional and courteous manner. The manager addressed my concerns and I was satisfied.

Friendly but Dishonest

by subaru_fan1 on 03/15/2016

I bought a used car and was told that the dealership was required by federal law to keep my and my wife's social security numbers on file due to the amount of the transaction. I confirmed verbally that no credit check would be run. The dealership then ran a hard credit check on myself and my wife two days later against our express instructions. When I called to complain, I was told that they possess a signed credit check approval from each of us despite the fact that neither of us consented to anything of the sort.

No pressure, No hassle, No surprises

by zigzagz94 on 01/28/2016

I don't normally write or read reviews because I'm always skeptical of them but I had such a great experience that I felt I owed it to them. Purchased a new BRZ Premium on 01/16/2016. I had been to 3 other dealers in the area whith all of them trying to pull the typical sleazy used car salesman bait and switch tactics. From the moment I contacted the internet salesman, Joe Hall, I knew the experience with Peninsula Subaru was going to be different. There was no haggling back and forth as I already knew what other dealerships were offering for the exact same vehicle and Joe agreed to my first offer. I arranged for a test drive later that week. Showed up to the test drive and was greeted immediately by Adam Gary. Really nice guy. He grabbed the keys to the car and off we went. Five minutes into the test drive I'm sure Adam realised that I knew way more about the car than he did so he just sat back and navigated to the best twisty roads in the area. There was absolutely no pressure and the test drive was extremely fun. Thanks Adam. Went back to the dealership and within about an hour and a half I was signing the financing paperwork. No surprises in the fine print. Everything was upfront, honest and smooth. I will definately recommend this dealership and Joe/Adam to all of my friends and family.

Near instant regret

by jay1029 on 11/12/2015

Horrible experience. Very impersonal service, many, many messages left (even in person!)/voice mails/e-mails/online requests and questions all left unanswered and ignored. Truly feel abandoned and forgotten when I'm not at the dealership. Actually, I felt the same while I was there. I actually bought a car there, but have regrets now. Could have done without all this stress and despair.

A pleasant car buying experience.

by 2014_Forester on 03/16/2014

Years ago I accompanied a friend to a car dealer. When she asked to see the engine of the vehicle we were looking at the salesman opened the trunk and exclaimed, "Look at all the room you have for your shopping bags!" Erik L., my salesman at Peninsula was nothing like this. After months of research I was convinced that the 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5i Premium was the right vehicle for me. Erik was eager to show me everything the vehicle could do, with attention to what I'd be using it for. I prefer a standard transmission and was hoping to get it in jasmine green. Erik checked the computer to see if he could find a Forester in the area with those features. His only priority was to get me into the right vehicle and not just make another sale. The computer showed one Forester 2.5i Premium in jasmine green with a standard transmission on its way to Washington from Japan. It was heading to another dealer. With a few clicks of a mouse, Erik was able to reroute it to Peninsula with my name on it. Not only did Erik get me the exact vehicle I wanted, but he also sold it to me for an awesome price. All of the people I have encountered at Peninsula have been friendly and helpful. This was my first car buying experience and it was truly a pleasure. 5 stars all the way. The Forester is a great vehicle and I look forward to many years with it. And I am happy to display the Peninsula Subaru license plate holders!

Excellent car buying experience

by my4thsubaru2 on 12/21/2013

DJ D was great to work with. Never made me feel pressured or manipulated. I left feeling very good about the purchase and trade-in. A process I normally dread was easy and pleasant. Highly recommend this dealership.

First time new car buyer

by patjrice on 05/22/2013

I recently completed the purchase of a 2013 WRX from DJ D. at Peninsula Subaru. Pure class from start to finish at the dealership. I went in a few months back looking for a slightly used Subaru and not really knowing my exact buying parameters. After many conversations with DJ and my financial advisor I realized that I could afford a new WRX and I couldn't be any happier with my purchase. I had never purchased new before and was pretty hesitant to buy new initially. Peninsula's knowledgeable and helpful staff helped guide me through the buying process and did not try and take advantage of a first time buyer like some dealers would have. I test drove vehicles at various Subaru dealerships in both Washington and Oregon and felt a level of trust at Peninsula with DJ that I did not feel at others. I would highly recommend this dealer to new car buyers and will definitely refer friends and family there in the future.

Great Deal

by BainbridgePaul on 05/02/2013

Third Subaru I've bought new and second one through Peninsula Subaru. New one is 2013 Outback; traded in 2007 Outback. Bought it through the Costco Auto Purchase program and it was exactly the same price as the internet offers from other dealers. Experienced very good treatment on purchase day; good brief on the car details. Actual transaction very professionally handled.

2014 forester

by GRV1947 on 04/13/2013

I solicited 4 or 5 dealers online from the beginning Peninsula had the best offer and with a few discussions remained that way. When I picked the car up there were no surprises. I will try to use their service department and see if they are as good as new car sales. I would recommend the dealership to a friend and will go back. I would buy a new BRZ there If it fit me.

Willing To Negotiate

by Elkbayou on 04/06/2013

Dealership was willing to match any other dealerships offer and they topped it off by offering free oil changes for life. The salesman I worked with was friendly and non-pressuring.

Five Stars to Peninsula Subaru, Bremerton

by Eugene03 on 02/15/2013

This was my first car shopping experience via the internet which gives shoppers accurate price information. With that information I felt in a good position to negotiate price in kind of a reverse bidding process. My search quickly narrowed to two dealers and I tentatively accepted the offer from Peninsula Subaru. I live in Alaska and needed to ship the car. The Internet Salesman continued to work with me on exchanging paperwork and arranging shipping. I felt like the salesman was very experienced and knowledgeable. He was also very patient and answered all my questions. Best of all he was skilled at problem solving. Peninsula Subaru will deliver anywhere in Washington at no additional cost to the buyer so my car is coming to Alaska on a ferry via the Alaska Marine Highway. Car dealers obviously must compete shrewdly for internet customers. In this respect they are all equal. To distinguish themselves they must offer exemplary service and court favor with customers so customer will recommend the dealer to others. In this respect I give Peninsula Subaru a 5-star rating and plan to recommend them to my friends.

Thank you Peninsula Subaru for helping me find a car for my dad and giving him a great deal on it. He loves his car and now can afford to travel across the bridge and pay the toll everyday for work that truck was taking his whole check in gas. Thanks again!

Buy your Subaru here!

by driverofsubey on 03/10/2011

I considered this purchase for over a year. The first salesman I spoke with suggested I test drive a car from Saturday to Monday since the dealership is closed on Sundays. Without going into too much detail, our salesman, DJ Dougherty, ended up selling us our Subaru Legacy for less than the price I wanted to pay! It was even lower than what Edmunds.com said was a good price. He also custom ordered the car from the factory to our specs without any price penalty. I can't think of how I could have gotten a better price. The dealership has been great when it comes to service including free oil changes and service loaners when needed. Buy your Subaru here! By the way, this dealer also sells the Suzuki Kizashi which seems like an excellent vehicle too.

Dishonest Sales Team

by cust_service1 on 02/25/2011

I would like to relate to you a recent experience that I had with the Peninsula Subaru new car sales team. I found a new car, through their website, that I was interested in purchasing. I called and asked for Subaru new car sales. I was transferred to Tyler. I told Tyler the exact vehicle that I was looking for and stated that I could pay $22,800 "Out-The-Door". He stated that he had the car in stock, but that he would have to talk to the sales manager on the price. He said that he would call back in 5 minutes. I did indeed receive a call back from him in about 5 minutes, and he stated that "it's a deal, $22,800 Out-The-Door". I asked him to confirm that this is indeed the total, out-the-door price, which includes tax, license and fees. He confirmed that it was. We made an arrangement to have the car and paperwork ready for Saturday delivery. I stated that I would send a follow up email to him confirming the deal, and asked him to email back with the confirmation. He said that he would send a confirmation reply as soon as he received the email from me. I immediately sent the email to him. When I didn't receive a reply back after a couple of hours, I called him. He said that he would send the confirmation "now". I then received an email from him stating that he could "do 22,800 plus tax and lic. = 24,066 after tax and lic". I immediately called him and asked what was going on. He said "that's the best we can do". When I stated that he previously told me $22,800 "Out-The-Door", and we made arrangements for Saturday delivery based on that, and asked why "did you lie?", he answered, "Well, I guess I lied then, that's just the way it is" I contacted the owner, John Dionas, and relayed the incident. He seemed unconcerned. I purchased my previous two Subaru's at this dealership. This certainly does not seem to be a "Stellar" way to treat repeat customers.

Rave for Peninsula Subaru

by newsubaru1 on 01/03/2011

I had a fabulous experience with Peninsula Subaru. I was in contact with DJ Dougherty via email and telephone. We arranged for an extended test drive, and when I was unsure about the vehicle, he let me take it home overnight. He did not use any high pressure techniques. He gave me a fantastic price for the car I wanted. I was going to purchase from him, but was surprised to get the same price close to home. It was a difficult decision. If you are looking for a car, by all means contact DJ Dougherty at Peninsula Subaru.

Great repairs, shoddy customer service.

by denmom on 08/25/2008

Penisula subaru has a great service department with very qualified people to work on the cars. The person who always drove me to and from work when I had my car serviced was very nice and always on time. Unfortunately the management and sales staff do not merit the same praise. Three years ago we went in to purchase an extended warrenty for our Subaru Outback. Of course, they tried to sell us a new car and after hours of negotiations there was an incident with a sales rep and my husband in which the sales rep called my husband outside to fight. I called Peninsula Subaru today because I need repairs thinking that after 3 years they would have calmed down and I really did like the people in the service department, only to discover that, even now, I have to drive over an hour away to Seattle because they will not work on my car. I don't understand why I am being punished. It is my car and I am the one who always took it in to be serviced. We didn't offer to fight the sales guy. I didn't even complain when he pushed me and my infant child aside while challenging my husband. I will be telling everyone I know that the mechanics are great, everyone else is holds a grudge. I guess they really don't value local customer service. I don't even think the sales rep involved still works there. I could be wrong.
