Just purchased a 2024 forester touring. What an amazing car. In Florida while writing this on out 1st road trip with car. Nothing but positive things to say about car. Finance Team did not keep their word and almost create a finacial situation

The issue is not with sales but with finance, who did not honor his word. Prior to buying, I query on the payment options. Personal check was offered as an option and they stated they can provide a few days (in this case 4 business days) to allow time to complete transferring funds. They cashed the check after 1 business day. It is fortunate that the transfer did complete within one business day but if it did not then this would have been a bounced check and would affect the credit rating. This is a "dick" move or just incompetent people that can hurt the customers financially. As they cannot keep their word and this situation has financial impact, I cannot recommend Stohlman Subaru of Sterling or Subaru for the following reason: * Potentially financial impact can be devastating to the buyer. * Cannot keep their word. * Due to the above, make one wondering what else they blunder. What makes this worst, this is a finance person who seems to not care or does not seem to understand the financial impact with this action. There was also no apologies from their management when I informed them of the situation. Their comment was similar to Office Space of they fix the problem.

Excellent warranty service

In all the years that i have purchased a car this experience was the best. No hassles and the entire staff went out of their way to make the entire process painless. Great service, honestly delivered

Took vehicle in for routine maintenance and asked for brakes to be evaluated. Eval was that brake system is fine with normal wear. No need for service now. So we did the basic routine maintenance with no extra bells and whistles.

Stay far far away from these guys

I recently purchased a used vehicle from Stohlman and I couldn’t be more unhappy. Let me start off by saying that I called Cathy Stohlman, the president of Stohlman Automotive Group three times over the course of 10 days, leaving voice mails explaining I had a bad experience with one of her dealerships that I wanted to share with her as I was sure that she would be concerned about. Apparently she does not care and her inability to respond was consistent with the treatment I had already received. I saw a vehicle listed that I was interested in and after daily communication with the salesman; I came out for a test drive with my wife. I had done a ton of research on the dealership as well as this particular vehicle and I was interested. Knowing that the vehicle was priced below Blue Book, and had a Carfax, I made it clear to the salesman that as long as I got a decent price for my trade in, I was certainly interested in the car. Test drove the car and liked it. Next thing I knew, the Finance guy, Fernando Avila came out and said by signing a promissory note I could leave with the new vehicle. I never expected to leave with the car and I know that dealers are highly motivated to close the sale prior to the customer leaving and having second thoughts and not returning for the car. I get it; I’ve sold, managed teams of sales people and am not naive about sales tactics. I loved the idea of driving home in the new car and said yes. To be clear, this was a “lay down” sale. No bickering or negotiating as I knew this was a solid car and priced well. I chose not to get the car detailed as we had already been there for two hours, not expecting to leave with the car. I had to sit with Mr Avila as he attempted to sell me an extended warranty package for the car. I found it slightly comical that when I didn’t agree on the warranty extension, he then proceeded to cut the price three times in a matter of 90 seconds, lowering the price of the package by over 30%. Great way to create value. I left promising to stay in touch on the wire transfer coming in a couple of days. I called Mr. Avila a couple of days later to update the timing of the wire transfer. A day later I was looking for the Carfax as I wanted to see when the timing belt had been changed as the car had 95,000 miles on it and I haven’t bought a car for my wife or I without knowing the last time the timing belt had been changed. Carfax was no longer on the website as it was sold and reached out to the salesman. He responded later with the Carfax and I noticed that there was no mention of a timing belt replacement. All the work had been done on the car at Pohanka Acura so I called up their service department and sure enough, the belt had never been replaced. Roxanne at Pohanka was great and told me that Acura recommends changing the belt every 110,000 miles or 7 years. The car is 7 years old. I gave this some thought and called a friend, now retired from running Car Dealerships his entire career and explained my predicament. In his experience he said that this happens all the time, and the bottom line was he was always motivated to make the customer happy. He suggested I “appeal to their better angels” and ask to have Stohlman do the work, and split the cost to with them. Make no mistake, I was going to reach out and see what their response was previous, but my friends feedback made me feel comfortable asking if they would pitch in. I reached out to the salesman via email approximately 90 minutes after he sent me the Carfax and told him that I’d discovered that the Belt had never been changed and that was a concern of mine considering the cost involved. I sent a second email. My emails went 4 days w/o a reply so I texted the salesman. He responded and said he JUST FOUND THE EMAILS and what did I want them to do. I told him. At no time did I threaten to withdraw the sale, but I just thought they might help out. & hours later the salesman emails back and says his sales manager had left for the day and was off the following day and would call me on Thursday. That was over two weeks ago and I’ve never received a call. Mr Avila called 4 days later and asked what the status of the wire transfer was apparently unaware of what was going on. I brought him up to speed and he made a halfhearted attempt to explain that I had signed a note and agreed to purchase the car. I told him that this was not a negotiating tactic, that I fully intended to buy the car, but had not wired the money as I was unhappy that the sales manager had not called as promised. Four more days go by and without any contact from Stohlman, and I’m getting pissed. What should have been a very happy day and car buying experience, was summarily ruined by these [non-permissible content removed] lack of professionalism. I called Avila and told him I was upset, that I just wanted to be done with Stohlman , and I would wire the $$ the next day. He listened to me, said he would share the conversation with the sales manager. No one ever reached out to me. I called Avila the next day to make sure that the $$ came through and it went to voice mail. I assumed he was off that day and called back the next day and it also went to voice mail. Three weeks later and he has never called back to verify that he received my wire transfer. At this point I called Cathy three times over the course of 10 days only to be reminded exactly how much Stohlman appreciates my business. They couldn’t care less, they got their money.

Don't waste your time here

We contacted a sales rep about a used truck we wanted to add to our business. He said it was still available. This was at 2:00 PM. We advised him we would be there within two hours as we live an hour and half away from the dealership. At 3:30 he called to ask if we were still coming. We said yes we were on route. Shortly there after he called and informed us they close at 5:00 and maybe we should come tomorrow. We said no we were only 20 minutes out and would be there well before closing. Also mentioned it would have been nice to know they closed early on Saturdays. When we arrived nobody is really around so we walked to the desk area and asked for the rep. We were told he was busy with other people. He came out 10 minutes later and said he would be right with us. We waited another 10 minutes and he came out and mumbled something we couldn't understand so my husband asked to see the car. He said sure and walked outside with us. He pointed to it a few yards away. We asked if we could test drive it and he said "I don't think so I just sold it to another person." We left. Highly unprofessional sales rep. Couldn't have mentioned that during the three phone conversations we had with him during the last two hours. Run don't walk.

Worst experience ever

Have you ever had one of those experiences that just ruin something? That’s what just happened to me at Stohlman’s Subaru in Sterling. I’d like to put one caveat to this, and it is that our sales person was exceptional and very knowledgeable. As for everyone else, they completely ignored me for over an hour and a half. And when they finally were ready to acknowledge me, they were cold and not helpful at all. This was my family’s third purchase at this dealership, and it will be our last. And that’s sad because the sales team really tries.

The managers, salespeople, and finance professionals are knowledgeable and excellent at what they do, and they are also terrific human beings. There is an atmosphere of kindness at Stohlman Subaru that impressed me deeply. The building is beautiful, the inventory is deep, and of course the vehicles are terrific. You will not regret working with Stohlman Subaru -- it is hands down the best car dealership I have ever had the pleasure to work with.

Disappointed

First, my sales person Ali was great but had to work under dealer policy's. #2 THE DEALER CHARGES 699$ ADMIN FEE + TAX??. #3 This dealer like most only detail the car, you'll need to inspect the car and if something is wrong with it they want you to pay half to fix it ( car sold at book value ) #4 Their vehicle inspector put a state sticker on the car with bad brakes (amazing). For me it was a 6 1/2 hour trip, 5 1/2 hour fix the car and paper work, and going home 7 1/2 hours. All in all my wife is happy and I hope this review helps someone.

Great dealership

Enjoyed the overall experience, though it took forever to get out finance application processed. They were transparent in telling the reason of delay to be high amount sales due to Labor day. Mike Schaub our sales representative, is extremely knowledgeable and friendly about the car feature details. Took all the patience to explain us in clear lay man terms the benefits of each technology jargon. No hard add-on sales attempts. In fact they understood that I have already stretched my pocket and simple told me the different add ons available without pushing me to purchase.

Great Dealership for transparent, no pressure purchasing

Picked up a 2018 Subaru WRX limited this week. Worked with Mark & Joe. They came together to pull the car from Rockville, and got it to me in time, so I can make my meeting out of town. No high pressure sales tactic, no shady dealings, no "I'm going to keep checking with my manager for a great deal" tactics, no hidden fees. Easy to get a test drive for new car. Great atmosphere, and great team to work with. This is why I only work with Subaru dealerships on my new car needs.

This dealership has the best customer service. They work with you to find the best car that fits you and will do whatever it takes to make sure you are beyond satisfied. I was very happy with my purchase and was told to call or stop by if I have any questions, comments or concerns which makes me feel at ease.
