I have gone to Lindsay Volkswagen for my last two purchases. In 2019, I purchased a Tiguan and now in 2024, I purchased an Atlas. Bob Derby assisted me with both of these purchases and each time he made the car buying experience a breeze. Bob is truly a gem and doesn’t make buying a new car a dreaded experience. I’m always sad at the end because I wish I could see him again the next day. I can’t say enough good things about him but the dealership isn’t bad either! It’s clean, huge, they have great inventory and everyone is so pleasant!

Bob Derby was our salesperson. very down to earth and straightforward. finance and management personnel were the same way. I am a difficult car buyer customer and I would certainly buy from them again. hopefully they woild sell to me again haha!

I owned my 2005 Jetta for 18 years (purchased certified pre-owned). As such, I had no idea how to shop for cars. Bob Derby made the process simple and fun. On recommendation from a friend, I called Bob Derby to discuss options for a new car. He asked about “trim styles” (I’m sorry, what? Newbie buyer here!) Without missing a beat or making me feel silly, he clarified, “are there any specifics” that I wanted in car. Since my car was going on 20 years old, anything at this point was an upgrade from the tape deck, single CD player, and knob controls. Following our phone call, I met up with Bob to test drive a Tiguan. Beautiful SUV. He gave me a full tour of the Tiguan, bumper to bumper, explaining the ins and outs of the various features and encouraged me to ask questions. We got back to his office, he showed the color options and then had the car pulled around in the color I chose making it hard to say “I’m not ready, yet”. [Very smooth, by the way, Bob :) ] I called Bob a few days later with a different model (Taos) in mind. We set up a test drive and the process began anew. The man knows his products and his customers! Never at any point did I feel pressured to purchase—it was more of a conversation to figure out my wants and needs and how that matched with my timing. Specifically, I’d like to point out I told Bob I loved the Taos and the color and THAT was the car I’d be buying, but I had to go home to figure out financing before I could sign. Bob didn’t make me feel rushed or that I was making a bad decision, nor did he push me to purchase right then and there. He did inform it was possible the car would be purchased before my return, but he would work with his team to make sure I would have what I wanted. I left his office with an appointment to return two days later to put pen to paper. I sold my Jetta to Lindsay VW for a more than reasonable price. Bob walked me through all the options and set me up with the paperwork before transferring me to Sarah Ross, financial manager. Sarah made me feel at home in her office—offering me food, drink, and giving me loads to laugh about; it felt like I was chatting more with a close friend than someone ready to take my money. Never at any point did I feel like Sarah or Bob tried to “upsell” me anything—again, it was more so giving me the education of the various options so I could make the decision that was best for me. I appreciate the time and patience both Bob and Sarah spent on me. I would 100% recommend Lindsay VW of Dulles to anyone looking to purchase/lease/sell a vehicle.

This was my first-time buying my own car and I was a little nervous and not 100% sure what I wanted. I was fortunate enough to work with Bob Derby throughout the process. He was incredibly professional and answered all of our questions with the multiple visits we had at the dealership looking at a used Honda Civic EX-L. I recently purchased a pre-owned Audi Q8 here and had an excellent experience with my sales consultant Bob Derby. I am very pleased with how everything went from start to finish. I have purchased numerous cars over the years and this was by far one of the best experiences yet. Bob was extremely professional, patient and very thorough the entire time. Having grown up in the automotive industry and being somewhat of a car guy I am extremely particular about my vehicles. Bob made it a point to make sure I was fully satisfied with the vehicle records and conditions all around before delivering the car. The sales manager Mark was excellent as well and also made it a point to make sure I was comfortable. I never felt rushed in anyway and they gave me and my wife the time to think it all through on our terms. I highly recommend them and I would call Bob directly if you are looking for great communication and a very pleasant easy going experience.

Having worked in the automotive industry for nearly 30 years, I have experienced many dealers and they are not all the same. I would definitely purchase a vehicle from Lindsay again. Dealers are asking huge premiums—$10,000 to $20,000 on these cars. You can’t order one—you just have to wait until cars are allocated & delivered to dealers—and then try to get one. Such premiums are a silly waste of money. I don’t remember how I found John Mule at Lindsay Volkswagen, but he told me Lindsay is the largest VW dealer in the U.S., and they do not charge a premium. He took my name and a $500 deposit & put me on a list. It took 16 months for me to rise to the top of the list, but I got my car, & Lindsay was as good as John’s word. In the interim, John was always prompt to respond to my inquiries, and the rest of the team was equally polite, honest & efficient. If you are in traveling distance of the metro DC area, I highly recommend them & John in particular. You won’t be disappointed.
