I appreciated the laid back sales approach and didn’t feel rushed or pushed in any way. They listened to what I wanted and found me the model and color I wanted. I was most impressed with the financial team, who was transparent and got me out the door with what I wanted.

Koons' Sterling Ford Service goes above and beyond for customers

While my husband and I were visiting our son in Virginia from Buffalo, we experienced an issue with our Ford F 150. We thought we would be out of luck as it was late on a Saturday morning. With the help of Heidi in customer service, we were able to connect with Endzo. He was very honest and friendly, and we felt like we were valued customers even though we had just met. He even arranged for their shuttle to take us back to our son's apartment while the truck was being serviced. He was able to get our vehicle serviced and returned to us the same day! They did all of this for people who live six hours away. Koons went over and above our expectations. I would highly recommend Koons, especially Heidi and Endzo.

Safety Backup

They explained their concerns about the "non-Ford" keyfob I wanted linked to my car and told me the fee. They also explained that it might not link but there would still be a charge. Luckily, they were able to program it and I gladly paid the charge.

I paid 17k for a lot of feet dragging, attitude, and sitting around

Go in there with no intention of financing through them, have done your research, know what you want, be polite but insistent. I got a good deal but I had to do arm twisting to make them fix the problems that didn’t let my vehicle pass inspection. They’ll say they’re not being pushy or trying to upsell you when they do both of those things. I wanted to come into this dealer twice (once to test drive, once to buy) and I came in four times. When I pointed out the necessary repairs on my third visit, one of the sales managers tried to gaslight me and tell me there was nothing wrong and that the fact sheets that laid out in explicit detail what was wrong with the car were not valid. I flatly pointed out that the issues were undeniably there, he acknowledged, and they got to fixing my car the next day despite me needing it the same day, the service center being open until 7 officially when they said it closed at 5. Not gonna lie, I will not be coming here again.

Mixed feelings

Bought a used car on Friday, Sep 1, 2023 that requires an electric charging cable. It was missing from the car. Manager said he'd look around and see if they had one. Then I sat down with the salesman to discuss the price and was told they don't haggle, etc. I pointed out that my loan approval was for a few hundred less than the total after taxes, so I needed them to work with me. I simply didn't have the extra money at this point. They wouldn't budge, so my son and I walked out. While i was still in my car trying to call my husband, the salesman came to find me and said they could come down a little bit., but not the full amount I needed. I figured out a way to make it work. A little while later, the salesman approached me and said that as a gift, they were going to order 4 new tires. The process was talking a while (I'm leaving out irrelevant stuff), so I was thinking that overall, this is going well. I sent my son home with my car, and was waiting for the one there to be ready. After 5.5 hours total, I was tired and hungry and finally drove home. The next morning we had to return so that my husband could sign his part of the paperwork. At that point it was made clear that they would provide either the charging cable, OR the tires! I was under the impression that both were happening. He tried to make it seem as if I was the one trying to be unreasonable. Iasked them to order the charging cable, as it would be cheaper for them to do so, then for me. Nope. After another 30 minutes of going back and forth, they found another used car on the lot that had one. In the end, I got what I had expected, but it took way too long and was exhausting, arguing my point. I did ask if they could send the tires to the Woodbridge location, which is only 10 mins from me, but they refused. So I'll have to drive another 90 minutes later in the week to get them mounted when they come in. How easy would it have been to send the tires to the Woodbridge location? Overall, not the worst transaction, but has given me a poor opinion of their commitment to helping their customers. Oh, and if you buy a plug in Honda from there anytime soon, the charging cable is gone... sorry....

Stay Away - Shady!

I will start with the positives first, both gentleman in the financing department were extremely easy to talk to, respectful & knew what they were talking about. Now for the cons, Initially, both my husband and I were looking in the lot however 2 separate employees came out to greet “us” but passed right by me first to go talk to my husband. It’s 2023. Why are we still not assuming women know what they are talking about or have any say? Very irritating. Once we found a vehicle the sales person helping us was friendly however he stated very blatant lies and was shocked I was the one asking questions and doing the negotiating. We stayed several times we did not want the extra protection coat that they offer yet it was still put on. That’s fine as far as their error going in our favor but they kept pressuring us to purchase it because they had already put it on, when we clearly stated several times - no. Our trade in value at other dealerships and from my intense research should have been around 11,000 however they only offered 8,500. I was the told it would be sent to auction which I told him was a lie and not true. Sure enough two days later I checked the website and it was listed on their website for 15,000. Again clearly thinking I’m dumb, when clearly I was correct. Then once purchased, later that week we already had major mass flow sensor issues and it stalled out several times…. we had to have that fixed. All in all, wouldn’t go back and I am advising friends who have been interested in going, to stay far away!

It’s always great and fast service when I come here. I don’t get pushed to purchase additional services to my vehicle and I appreciate that being a female. Everyone is always nice and courteous even early in the morning which is typically when I come in for any service.

Returned for service

I was returning to Koons after being away to get a new battery because my current battery kept dying while we would go camping grrr. Up to this point, I was getting my vehicle serviced closer to my home. I called to make an appointment thinking I would need to schedule it a week or two out like most places in Northern Virginia. I was able to get in the next day. I dropped my SUV off the night before my appointment. Joey Stickman called me before my appointment. I was working and it made it a bit challenging to reach me but Joey called me back several times and we reviewed my service request. Very simple and easy. Thanks Joey!

How can they keep up with this quality so long and so consistently? Not believing in manic I judge the complete respect they give to their technicians' work and most welcome the whole hearted service adviser commitment. Six years an three cars and counting-- next car already "sold" before I even decide on another.

Service Satisfaction - Always

I prefer dealership service. Though at times it can be priced a bit higher than local repair shops or specialty repair shops, Koons Sterling Ford has always stood behind their work. They do advise what is necessary and what might need attention in the future. No pressure tactics. They communicate well with updates on service completion. Hours are very flexible, and everyone you come into contact with is very helpful. I have always been pleased with their service, for 28 years now!
