Ugh. They want it all their way.

by Plate18 on 01/26/2021

I tried to do a long distance trade with them (required shipping cars back and forth). They wanted a deposit, my car, and my title before they would even consider shipping their car. And then they wouldn't return the deposit for 10 days and wouldn't provide their title for a month. I'm surprised they didn't ask for my first born child. Nope - there are too many good dealers out there to work with. Skip this one.

best sales specialist

by Rick F on 05/09/2020

I recently bought a car at Chantilly Audi. I give the strongest possible recommendation of Mark Cooper, their sales agent there. I have had many cars in my life, some bought new, some bought used either at a dealer or at car max. As I usually do when I go car shopping, I did a rather exhaustive search, visiting dealerships of many different makes, and then among my favorites, visiting multiple dealerships within the brand. I wanted a dealership that seemed well run, eager to assist me, and respectful of my time as I figured that wherever I bought the car, I would end up using them for servicing and repairs and basically have a long term relationship with them. I like Chantilly Audi. It satisfied my requirements just mentioned. But that was not the main reason that I chose them. Mark Cooper was. He was the agent that I found by looking at reviews on line. Although I have car shopped for many years, I had never bothered to look for reviews of sales people or dealerships on line before. I just always figured that I would wander into a dealership and meet an agent that I would like. But over and over again recently, with many car dealerships even including other Audi dealerships, I found the sales people, while pleasant, appeared not more knowledgeable than I about their car, sometimes easily annoyed to have to answer a question, short on time from the start as if only interested if they could make a quick sale and move on, and unresponsive to or unavailable for follow up questions after I left their shop the first time. I had almost settled on a different dealership within the Audi system although unhappy with the treatment there, and then I found Mark. For instance, I wanted to have a certain option but the other dealership's sales person said that Audi just didn't do that. I mentioned that to Mark and he said that he believed that they did do it and then proceeded to show me a page on his computer screen that said they did. In many other instances after that, he was similarly informed, interested in helping, and just a pleasure to deal with. I have never in my life written a review of anything online simply because I have never felt strongly enough to do it. I wholeheartedly recommend Mark Cooper at Chantilly Audi. They are lucky to have him, and you will be lucky to have him as your car sales specialist also.

Love my car

by AALamb42 on 08/31/2017

I bought a used 2011 A4 at Chantilly. Lem was my salesman. Everybody was very kind to me (helped that my friend had bought his Audi there, I think) and despite it being a used car, I was treated very well. It was sold pretty much as is, but when I got it home it became apparent that the tire had a leak. I had to buy a new tire. I sent the bill to Lem, and they reimbursed me immediately. Very happy with them and I would recommend them.

"I don’t want to kick you out" Salesman HASAN NORMAN.

by Malla_A on 06/19/2017

To start with, I've decided to lease an Audi A4. Getting started with the test drive, it went awesome, totally loved the driving experience car. So went ahead and started negotiating with Mr. HASAN NORMAN about numbers. During the negotiation, as each and every customer do I start with some numbers which he is not okay with, like every salesman does, he started going back and forth to his manager's room and walking back to us with a smug look on his face. I'm totally aware that the salesperson's are trained to rip off customer’s wallet the moment when you enter their dealership. I've told him that the promotion on the web says its xxx amount, then he told us there is a * which says with limitations, well that’s how the promotions get all the customers miraged by looking at some fancy numbers and get us to the dealership's doorstep. We're okay that he is doing his job and trying to work some numbers up to his margin. As I already said he's just storming in and out of his managers office to make us feel good that he is trying hard for us and make us believe that he is doing us whole bunch of favors in getting the car leased, but this is not our first time dealing with the salesmen at dealerships. The way he spoke, I actually felt like i was just stepping into some hunting grounds where hunters waiting for rare found prey. Well lucky that i escaped the hunt. All he did was manipulation and making us feel better that he's doing great favors for us. He never told us the figures and nothing on the paper until I reached my highest margin. Then he got something printed on paper from his manager's room to negotiate from our highest margin, I'm okay to work with the numbers and see where it goes until he turned disrespectful and spoke all the mean stuff we've quoted below. He pretty much understood that I'm trying to make a deal with him or even closer to the numbers which I’ve got in my mind, then he started turning in to personal stuff to rev you up and make you lease this car for the margin that he have in mind. The personal stuff as such "You work in IT; I know how much you make." "I know your income; this is just a small cut for you" "This is not a right car for you; we'll get you something to your range" "I don’t want to waste your time so mine" "I don’t want to call security; I don’t want to kick you out" "The director of the Audi doesn't get an A4 at this price"(well I know that he doesn't get, cos he gets it for free) The first and foremost mistake a salesmen does is, turning in to customers money management when a customer is not coming up to his numbers, they'll start to hurt your ego feeling to make you buy this car or negotiate, 99.99% of customers will lease the car or leave. We did leave too, but with the entire conversation voice recorded and the quotes above were the actual words came out of the salesmen's mouth, which he never should've spoke and think that the least would be walking out. We'd be glad to post that here if we'd have an option. I would strongly recommend everyone to do one for yourself if you ever happen to deal with the salesmen, record the entire conversation and have it sent out to your attorney, lets the legal experts do their job that are best at. And then he went on "I have my Master’s degree in IT as well. I'm working in IT and as salesmen since 15 years."(Do you really expect us to believe that after all this non-professional stuff you spoke?? I wouldn't either.) I went "have you ever been in our shoes (customer's side), have you ever tried to negotiate with someone from customers stand point." He went "I have 15 yrs. of experience as customer salesperson" I was like, duudee do you even know what you're talking about. I'm asking customers side not the side where the customers are ripped off. No response for that. I've negotiated with him all the way up to the highest mark I’ve set; I actually was willing to go little higher than the highest mark. He said he wouldn't believe in customers referring the salesmen or dealership once their business is done. "I don’t believe customers referring to benefit my business once their business is done and stepped out of this place, no one did", then I don’t believe you coming up with this so called “SPECIAL PROMOTION”; I can print a lot of fake numbers on paper and publish some fake numbers on the dealership web page which are totally manipulated the way you want it. Hear me out I said I was there to LEASE the car not to BUY the car. The numbers which you’ve got is just to get the max you can get by the lease maturity date and sold it as sky rocketing used car price to the customers. You just reach out to neither toes nor head when gets to the point where it’s selling or buying. Well I did give pretty good amount of references to my previous car dealership salesmen where some of them bought through them. I would've certainly referred if he'd been polite and respectful to the customers. I will not recommend this dealership to anyone of my family and friends.

Used car junk - Customer Service - Forget It

by von_1971 on 03/03/2017

Purchased a used Audi from Audi Chantilly - as with most used vehicles it came with no warranty but when buying from a self-proclaimed prestigious Audi dealership - one would expect a modicum of customer service. It was supposedly checked out by their Audi professionals and promised to have no issues as "we stand behind our vehicles". Long story short, the transmission failed within a few days and less than 600 miles and despite my calm and civil efforts to communicate with the dealership, they will not return my calls or emails – nothing from them much less any semblance of customer service. The point of this review is to let any consumer with the perception that the higher prices of this Audi dealership are validated by getting a better car or a higher level of customer service are in fact false. They do not stand behind their product or do anything special to the car you are purchasing – save yourself some money, buy your next used car from a local used car dealer and just have it checked out with an independent mechanic. This dealership does not care about you past the point you sign on the dotted line – again, despite professional behavior a simple phone call or return email was out of the question for this team. Just because your salesperson may be attentive and nice, do not be fooled into thinking the dealership cares past the point of payment – Buyer Beware.

Love our new cars!

by A3Cabriolet on 02/02/2016

My husband HATES to buy cars. Like, HATES it. So when he decided he wanted to look at Q5, I did research and found Audi Chantilly had a good selection of cars. I sent an email inquiry and Hasan responded almost immediately and we set up a time to meet (we were driving from Richmond, VA - we had a bad experience with the Richmond dealership). Hasan literally greeted us at the door. He had keys to two different Q5's (one with the 2.0 and one with the 3.0 liter engine) to test drive. At the end of the test drive and talking numbers, my husband says "you know, I'm not sure I want to buy a car today, but my wife has her eye on an A3 Cabriolet. Tell us about that." Now, you'd expect our salesman's face drop and so some irritation from the switcharoo, but instead, Hasan said "certainly! Let me tell you about these cars" and we proceeded to drive a 1.8 and 2.0 turbo engine car (seriously - if you're buying an audi, buy the turbo!). So after that test drive, we chat and decide we're both buying cars that day. I got a SUPER deal on my A3 (it was a 2015) and we felt like we got a good/fair deal on my husband's Q5 - not quite a BOGO deal (LOL), but we were happy. The finance department was able to beat my credit union's rate, so we financed through the dealership. Our finance person did NOT try to upsale us on every option Audi provides, but had good suggestions on the maintenance package (and we decided to purchase that). Fast forward one month. I had a fender bender with my A3. 1,075 miles on her and I hadn't even made a payment. The night of the accident I call Hasan to get the number for Audi Road Side Assistance to have my car towed to the repair facility - he immediately texted me the number. He's followed up with me several times to check on how the repairs are going and if we need anything. This dealership, and Hasan in particular, have been outstanding. In fact, even though we're two hours away, we will likely take our cars to Chantilly Audi for servicing instead of the local dealership. I feel like they care about us and our cars. I will recommend Hasan to anyone looking to purchase an Audi.

Bait and Switch

by tr16 on 06/15/2015

This might a slightly long review for some, but I thought I should write this and share my experience with Audi Chantilly. My wife and I went to test drive a slightly used Q7 on a Saturday afternoon in April. We sort of liked the car and went on to test drive other cars ( Range Rover, BMW X5 ) at other dealerships later that day. A few days later I contacted Audi Chantilly and make an offer via e-mail as I was on a business trip in Europe . We batted this back and forth for a while and about a week later came to a compromise and I said I would take the car. Everything seemed OK! We went back there on another Saturday to do the paperwork (which took 3 hours) and to pick up the car. We took a cursory look at the car and noticed a bunch of scratches on it as well as stains in the interior that we had not seen before. The factory rubber mats were gone and a few other things seemed off. We were told that this was the car we test drove and nothing had changed. Nevertheless, we decided to buy the car – after all we were at an Audi dealership and were buying an Audi Certified car from a dealer that is part of the Penske group (NYSE: PAG ) .My weekends are precious as I travel for work during the week – so I just need to get stuff done on weekends and need to move onto other things in my spare time so I really don’t have a lot of time to see if I’m getting screwed. I assumed that an Audi dealer , who tells me I am buying the care I test drove would be somewhat truthful. We bought the car and went home. I went through the car thoroughly in my driveway and noticed a lot of other things wrong with it. I went to my iPad as we had taken pictures of the car we originally test drove. I was shocked to see that Audi Chantilly had done a “bait and switch” – in other words committed total fraud. I could tell the difference from the original pictures that the tires (Pirelli vs. Bridgestone) , badging on the fenders and a few other small details that they had sold us a different car. The next day I proceeded to e-mail can call the sales person, who did not return my calls or messages ( obviously). This is a Sunday and I’m due to board a trans-Atlantic flight the same day, so I really don’t have a lot time to deal with these [non-permissible content removed]. I then drove the car back to Audi Chantilly , met the salesperson who told me I had taken pictures of a totally different car at another dealership and that the deal was not reversible. I asked to see the sales manager and after showing him the pictures with dates and time and the Audi Chantilly dealership building in the background he asked for the keys but did not admit to the fraud they had carefully executed. I had already called Amex to dispute the down payment on the car and also called my bank to stop the money transfer. Lesson learned: if you buy a car there put the down payment on a credit card which you can then freeze if or when they defraud you . It took two weeks to get them the reverse the Amex transaction after which I got the funds fully credited (after I have left them with the car , keys and paperwork ). Lesson learned: If you buy from a shady private dealer, you are setting yourself up to be conned. If you buy from a publicly listed company that is also a brand dealer they might defraud you . If you are looking at buying a car here, take pictures of it and write down the VIN and go home . Do not stay there to negotiate price but take your time and look at other options as well. Long story short : Yes they an Audi dealer but they operate just like many fly by night “Buy Here Pay Here” scammers. Interestingly enough I mentioned this experience a business colleague who mentioned that he had had a similar experience. He bought a brand new R8 that was used and actually rejected by the original purchaser. He found this out by dialing home on the MMI and spoke to the original buyer who said he had returned the car after a few days of having it…Go figure I’m sure many people have good experiences with Audi Chantilly, however if you are buying a particular car, remember: take down the VIN, take pictures of it etc. go home and then negotiate remotely without the pressure tactics etc. that usually apply to buying a car at the dealership. I originally thought about not posting this but after talking with a lot of my friends and colleagues they urged me to post this. This is a crowd that likes German cars and are all now looking at dealers in the DC area that do not belong to the Penske group.

2012 Teak Brown A5 Cab Premium Plus

by briskt on 03/21/2012

We worked with Sean Haidari at Chantilly Audi. We wanted a Teak Brown A5 Cab, Sean was able to find one for us through the inventory at the port. I was able to determine TMV using Edmund's pricing tool, and gave Sean the figure, and they agreed to that figure in 30 seconds, after that, it was just a matter of waiting for car to arrive 10 days later. They had the car prepped for us in 3 hours from it arrival at the dealer. So far have nothing but good things to say about Sean and Chantilly Audi.

Good buying experience - Although high pricing

by j_o_s_e on 09/15/2011

The dealership is clean and highly eye-appealing. The sales people were very friendly and knowledgeable. But their pricing was rather outrageous... they were not willing to deal on the sticker price of a vehicle because "it was in high demand". Not a way to bring business. I was able to bring them down some or I would walk away, but their initial attitude was difficult to swallow. After we agreed on a price, everything went smoothly and rather quick (1 hour to 1.5 hours tops by the time I had keys in hand and had signed the papers). I would go back to the dealership, but sticking to my guns in price.
