Ignorant and Dishonest

by Jordanriver on 09/07/2022

Do not expect the sales reps, the finance manager, the parts department or the service department to be direct, clear, or informed. I had $6000 added to the loan. I had items written into the contract that they would add after-market, and the salesman, parts manager, and service rep all said was no problem. Except, it doesn't exist. I had another addition added to the cost (and I am paying interest on these things) to cover these items, one of which I will never receive. They are completely unresponsive to emails and voice-mails. Even when I was still holding out hope and being as pleasant as possible, the only way I could talk to anyone was to drive over and refuse to leave until the person I had sent 3 emails and 4 voicemails to over the past month had 5 minutes for me. I cannot recommend this dealership at all.

Be careful!!!!

by Rjmson on 08/14/2019

I have never been given the run around like this place has done. Bought a NVP 4x4 conversation because I liked the fact it was all Nissan and they didn't cut a hole in the floorboards for the transfer case selector. I live 13 hours away and didn't have the time to drive or fly out to visit the dealer. Called a salesman that was very friendly on the phone. Told him what I was looking for and I wanted one already set up if they had one. Was told they had 3, 2 white and one black. I had him price me a white one and gave them my trade in info. The price was right so I gave them some money to, I thought hold one of the white ones. They sent me paperwork to sign and it all looked good. Fast forward a few days and I call to see about a delivery date. Mind you I paid to have it shipped to me and pickup my trade in. I'm told it just has to be checked over in the shop and it will be ready to go. The next day he tells me it's on the lift getting the 4x4 put in. I thought I purchased the one already done and questioned what I had signed papers on. They knew when I signed papers I wasn't getting the van I thought I was but didn't bother to inform me of that. I'm pretty easy going if you are honest with me. Forward a few more days and we are preparing to leave on vacation. The evening before we leave I get a call saying that it shipped that morning and would be at my house before we left. Let's just say it wasn't. It actually shipped that evening and there was no way it was going to make it. We left without it on a Friday. The transport company dropped it off the next day and the person I had sign for it sent me pics. The ones I had been sent pictures of had aftermarket wheels and tires and was the one I originally thought I was buying. Mine has factory rims with highway tires on a 4x4!!!!!!! They also told me the mileage on the van when it came off the trailer was 1726, the odometer statement I signed said 71!!!!! Where did the extra miles come from? After many phone calls and a ruined vacation for me I was told I had said I would do wheels and tires on my own, the only thing I said I would do on my own was trailer brake controller. My girlfriend left a bad review on their FB page and when the dealer found out they told me they could no longer talk to me till the review came down. She took it down and I still can't get a return phone call or text. I looked on FB after I found the review my GF left and it was full of negative reviews. As of this review they have removed that feature from their page. Hey guys just be upfront and honest with your customers and it goes a long ways. I'm sure when they see this review they will also want me to take it down in order to work something out. I offered to buy the tires locally if they sent me the rims I thought I was getting but no call back and it's been right at a week with no response from them. I even called today 8-13-19 because I still have my trade in sitting here and the forecast is for very high wind and large hail. I was checking to see if they wanted me to put it inside somewhere so it didn't get beat up and sand blasted but never received a call back from the salesman or manager after leaving voicemails with both. Be careful when dealing with this place. On a side note: I am very happy with the work the service department did and the van rides great and has lots of power. It’s also very comfortable to drive and the kids love the room.

Sells Unsafe Vehicles

by Erica on 05/01/2019

We purchased a vehicle from Tim Dahle Nissan in West Jordan. Upon receipt of the vehicle there were check engine lights on the dashboard. The following lights were on the dashboard. The brake sensors stating that there was a failure in the braking system and that the pads were needing to be replaced. There was a battery light on indicating that the battery was bad. There was also a steering warning light on and the system advising that increased steering was going to be necessary for the vehicle. When the vehicle first arrived off the truck it was stiff to steer. We did not receive any safety inspection reports on the vehicle when the vehicle arrived from the dealership showing one was done 24-48 hours prior to being loaded for transport. We also did not receive any written or verbal disclosures of issues with the vehicle prior to the closing of the sale. When the vehicle had just come off the truck on the 15th we immediately took it for additional inspections to ensure the vehicle was safe to drive. We were unable to drive the vehicle legally due to the dealership not providing the title and then sending out a temporary registration for the vehicle. We were not able to drive the vehicle until 4/16/19. Within 24 - 48 hours of being able to legally drive on the roads, the vehicles steering became increasingly difficult to the point where the vehicle's steering system completely stopped working on the morning of 4/18/19. My son, who is 17 years old was driving the vehicle when this occurred on his way to work. He came close to having an accident as a result of the steering going out while he was driving. I attempted to drive the vehicle in a parking lot so I could understand the steering issue. I was unable to safely steer this vehicle in any manner. We took it to the auto repair shop next door to his work who could quickly inspect the vehicle and run diagnostics on the steering. It was then concluded that the vehicles steering system had failed and we then had to tow the vehicle to the nearest BMW dealership as the vehicle had multiple failures that the shop felt needed to be addressed by BMW to ensure that the vehicle is restored to a safe driving condition. The vehicle sat at the BMW dealership for nearly a week between diagnostics, ordering parts for repair and repairing the vehicle. The following was concluded that was present prior to the vehicle being delivered to us in Colorado. Serpentine belt was cracked and required replacement; it was stated that this should have been noted on a recent safety inspection report. The vehicles steering system EPS wiring harness that goes to the system was damaged, the clips were broken and was causing the harness to not stay in place and is what led to the ultimate failure of the steering system. The battery was found to be faulty and had low voltage which as a result it was storing the faulty codes for the steering system each time it was sending a warning regarding the steering. Upon taking the vehicle to BMW the reports came back regarding the steering system, braking system, as well as additional issues with the vehicle, and the electrical system of the vehicle. We were trying to give the dealership benefit of the doubt on the battery and omitted the cost for the battery. The total cost for the repairs to make the vehicle safe were $566.05. I spoke with Marco again on 4/30/19 - He stated the dealership knowingly sells unsafe cars and does not repair them prior to selling. They have no intention on reimbursing for the car to be made safe and pass safety inspections for registration. 4/30/19 I spoke with Marco again he knowingly stated they sell vehicles that are unsafe and they do not repair the vehicles prior to selling. They are refusing to cover the repairs made to the vehicle to make it safe and to pass safety inspections.

Sold us a broken truck

by prpl_phoenix on 06/05/2017

Very poor communication here. Can never get anyone on the phone. When we were negotiating on the price, they told us they would run the truck through the shop to get it whatever it needed to pass safety & emission and whatever else the truck may need. Well when we went to sign the contract, we found out that running it through the shop cost $1000! Plus interest because it's financed into the loan. I have never heard of that at a dealership and refused to pay it. They still have to make it pass S & E for financing anyway. After having my own mechanic look over it, it needs a new radiator, the backing plate was bent and rubbing on the tire, the front differential and transfer case are leaking (the transfer case had NO fluid in it btw). The rotors are rusted, the rear brakes did NOT pass safety, and we had to replace the passenger side mirror and flush the tranny. We have put a ridiculous amount of money into a truck we just bought. *update* We are now having to replace the transfer case because there was so much damage from not having fluid. We have put over $2500 in repairs into a vehicle we've had for less than a month! They will not do anything to help us out because they would be losing money. So I guess it's our problem they didn't check the truck thoroughly enough before offering it for sale.

Do NOT use the service department

by SubbieGirl on 02/25/2017

So I typically don't Rant... but what I have been going through with Tim Dahle South Towne Nissan service department is BEYOND RIDICULOUS, here's the short story.. I bought my car just before christmas and had their service department do the oil change in February 4 days later my turbo and motor have to be replaced because of OIL STARVATION! The first shop that looked at it had to put 3qts of oil in my car just to get the oil to register on the dip stick!! No my car didn't have a oil leak nor did the oil plug fall out so where did the oil go??? Not in my driveway... While if you ask South Towne Nissan's service department assistant manager or manager they will have all kinds of stories saying that Subaru knows there's an oil consumption issue (yep they do but on newer Subarus and Subaru is assisting those customers) my Turbo probably kicked out 3qts of oil (with out me NOT knowing) ADD in story time: they have 3 subarus in their shop with the same kind of issue (2 days later and the other manger said they had 5 Subarus in the shop with this issue)....They continued to try and Throw subaru under the bus and state that there is such an issue with Subaru that they had to use a used motor because Subaru didn't have any motors in stock...Yeah NO!! I called around and wow to my shock found plenty of Subaru motors... Basically the assistant manager and the manager of the service department treated me like a stupid girl that was trying to blame them for something they didn't do and that they could prove it by all these stories and videos.. I have tried so many avenues to talk this out and at least find someone to at least treat me with some brains.. The sales manager (Grin P) and the service GM (Josh) at least treated me respectfully and listened when the service advisers/ assistant Manager and Manager (John D and Andy) treated me like a silly stupid girl. I finely get the video of my oil change (after I've been requesting the video for a week) - it's so low quality has no time stamp, can't see my licence plate nor the oil meter and its under 2 minutes long.. So they state they aren't at fault and have proof they did what was required of them but want to make me happy and are willing to assist me in replacing my motor at cost to save me some money..

Not an honest dealer

by cbslc19 on 12/29/2016

Salesman kept making obscure offers of warranties and pricing. I kept asking for details. The salesman would not give me any details, instead pressuring me to schedule a test drive. Was told the vehicle was going to auction the next day and they would make me a great offer. I could get no details on the offer. Now 5 days later and the car is still there.

Best car buying experience

by mercedesmann on 10/16/2015

Tim Dahle Nissan Southtowne has the best car salesman Jose Feliz and Ramon, they were so nice to work with and we have bought many cars and I have never said that before. They treat you like family and you don't feel pressured. They are very detailed and are very knowledgeable about the vehicles. I would definitely recommend everyone to go see Jose and Ramon. They're the best!!

Great customer service!

by lgrant11 on 05/09/2015

I recently purchased a Nissan Versa at Tim Dahle Nissan in Southtowne. Chris Pange was there to meet me and he completely guided me through the process of my purchase. Although purchasing a new car involves lots of paperwork, I never felt like I was being talked down to and not once felt as if I was being "worked." He has continued to assist me when I have questions or concerns. I normally don't like going to dealerships, but this was a pleasant experience. Thanks Chris! Lori Grant

Worst Car Buying Experience

by kcustance on 02/16/2015

My husband and I went to this dealership to buy a new car. Before we decided to make a purchase, we went in and the salesman offered us a price of 11k for the base model of the Nissan Versa Note, with my trade in of 2k. We were very pleased with this price. We went in again, ready to purchase a car. The salesman we talked to wasn't available, and although they called him to come in, he didn't show up for about five more hours. So, we spoke and worked with a different salesman. He was really nice, and seemed genuinely concerned about getting us what we needed. We started talking about getting the next model up - so long we could get it in the same price range. Then he started asking us about payments. I said well, if we keep it in the same price range, the payments should be the same - right? Anyhoo, he left us for about 4 1/2 hours at his desk, alone, while they "printed" something out. By this time, we were tired, anxious, and starving. We were not offered food or refreshments. There was no one else in the dealership buying cars that day. It was ridiculous. When we went into sign the loan - I tried reading through the paper work. The loan guy did not want to explain to us anything. I starting skimming as fast as I could, and felt my heart leap out of my chest when I saw "18,000" on the price. So I asked if that was the price BEFORE the trade in. "Nope," he said, "That's the price after the trade in. Sign here." to which he shoved a pen in my face. I shouldn't have signed - but I did. I tried justifying that the payments were the same, so whatever. But they extended our loan to 72 months, which is why the payments were the same. We left with the car feeling excited and disappointed. Over the next week, we received multiple phone calls from the dealership requesting information they "forgot" to ask us for. We had to run to the dealership, which was a half hour a way from our residence several times. Then about two weeks later we got letters saying we were NOT approved for our loan. So we called the salesman and asked if we needed to return the car. He said that we DID get approved and not to worry - to keep the car. Then we got a call a week later from a different loan guy saying the first loan guy left, and he's trying to finish our loan, and we need to RESEND all our information. He then said that he RAN OUR CREDIT to find us a better loan, and that we needed to come down to the dealership and resign. I told him it was illegal to do that with out our permission - and granted, I was upset - he did not handle the situation well at all. He continued to yell at me in response and say that it was not illegal, and that he could run our credit FIVE more times if "that's what we wanted". We went down to the dealership and said we wanted to return the car. He then said that our original loan hadn't gone through yet, and it was being processed THAT day and not to worry. We TOLD him that we were leaving that day for a vacation and we needed to know if the loan was yes or no, and that he did NOT have our permission to run our credit again. We are both college students, and had very little credit history to begin with. I also verified with him that they did NOT need any more information. So we went on vacation and put about 2k miles on the car. He called during our vacation and said they were STILL missing information. We talked to several family members, and all said to return the car and that they were trying to screw us over. SO we got back from vacation, and tried to return the car. We explained that we had a really awful experience and that we were done dealing with this dealership. We were calm. We did not yell. We just wanted to return the car. The loan guy got visibly upset, and then told us because of the miles we would have to pay 3k to return the car, and that they would only give me 1k for my trade in, even though they told us that we were going to get 2,500 for it. We were really, really upset. We explained that we tried to return the car before we left and they wouldn't let us - and he said that was crap, and that if we wanted, they could charge us 4 thousand dollars to return it. Seriously. He was so rude. We asked to speak to the GM, and he instead, called the GM on the phone and said that the GM felt the same as he did, that we had to pay the 3k. We looked over the contract we signed and realized there was nothing we could really do - so we just sent them the requested information and finished the loan. Seriously the worst dealership in the world. Their employees are very, very unprofessional, very rude, and very arrogant. Seriously made the car buying process so stressful and put me in tears. I wish we would have looked up reviews for this dealership before going there. Yelp gave them 2 stars. We figured because they were a Nissan dealership, and part of an automall, everything would be just fine. Unfortunately, we were very wrong. We will never be returning there, and we will be professing it on every review site we can, as well as contacting the Nissan company and letting them know how their employees treat their customers.

Deceptive Dealership

by mkrman123 on 11/28/2014

I spoke with Devon Dillenburg on 10/18/14 inquiring about a 2014 Nissan Maxima on the lot. I schedule an appointment to meet with him that evening. I broke the first law of car buying - don't go car shopping at night! Anyway, I found a Maxima that would meet my needs. Before test driving it, I did inspect the vehicle, but it was very dirty and it was dark. Agreed on a price for the vehicle and the trade-in value for my current vehicle. Not the best price out there, but I am not the type to grind the dealership over price. The F&I experience with Bruce Cherrington was the most uncomfortable experience I have ever had (and I have purchased a lot of cars!) This was the first time I had done a lease, and frankly didn't understand the terms of my lease well, but decided to wait and ask NMAC instead of prolonging the agony. Also, the dealership tacks on a $100 "maintenance package" without informing the customer and seems priced high for what the customer gets. Bruce didn't seem to know what he was doing and took him 2-3 times to print out each piece of paperwork and did not offer to explain anything to me. I know this is not entirely his fault, I should have taken charge and asked to work with someone else. I took delivery at 9:00PM. Again, it was dark and I took delivery in the parking lot, which was pretty dark (mistake # 2 - always insist on inspecting the vehicle in the service bay if at night). The next morning, I got in the vehicle to go to Costco. That's when I discovered how bad of shape the vehicle was delivered to me in. There was fruit roll-up stuck to the passenger side seat, some other foreign material stuck to the driver's side seat, and miscellaneous stains all over the seats (all of them). There was tar & bug "guts" all over the vehicle. The adhesive from the covering put on at the factory hadn't been removed thoroughly, so every piece of dirt was stuck to the adhesive (the car sat on the lot for about a year). The scuff marks on the driver door & driver seat are so bad the plastic is damaged. There are at least 5 paint chips (as far as I can see). The entire interior was dirty - there was dirt on the door threshhold, carpet was dirty... I could go on and on. I ended up spending 6 hours cleaning the inside & outside of the vehicle. My neighbor came over, who was a sales manager at a Chevrolet dealership for 6 years, who said the car was "disgusting" and would have fired the lot techs & salesperson who delivered a car in such condition. Worse than that was the customer service. I never received a follow up from Devon, although he said he called (I double-check my sales paperwork and they had the right phone numbers, both work and home). I ended up emailing him just to tell him how bad the vehicle was delivered to me in. The car was delivered without the Monroney sticker (which is a violation of federal law) and the key tag (which is needed to make keys in the event both keys are lost). Since taking delivery, it has already been to the dealership twice - once because the transmission wouldn't engage in reverse and another because the heater had a burning smell. This is my 3rd Nissan, and my 2nd from Tim Dahle Nissan. I definitely am done with Tim Dahle and will not buy another Nissan due to the few Nissan dealerships in the Salt Lake Valley. Through this experience, I have learned that the dealership is more important than the vehicle when making the purchase! On the bright side, at least this is a lease and I learned a valuable (but expensive lesson) about how to buy a car. Things just got worse after the experience. I received a call from the dealership that my plates were in. When I went there, I was told I "needed to talk to Finance." I waited... and waited... and waited. Then I was told that the payoff for my trade was short and I owed them $165 dollars... right then. I ended up paying it (luckily they take credit cards). I gave Devon an EXACT 20-day payoff from the finance company (I logged on while at the dealership and gave it to him). Somewhere between Devon and Finance the number was revised down. I sent an e-mail to Alen Maric and received a call from Mark Ingleby, but couldn't answer because I was driving at the time (and my steering wheel controls don't work). I called him back, but he was "busy," and never received a call back. The only reason to go to Tim Dahle Nissan is for price, and make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing and don't let your guard down. Worst car buying experience ever!!

Lemon Alert

by customerM on 08/12/2014

The RX8 I purchased in May of 2014, turned out to be a real lemon, with constant, expensive repair bills. I can't believe it "passed" the dealer's inspection. Tim Dahle never should have sold a car is such a poor state of disrepair, but the sales person represented it as having no known problems, and dismissed any concerns I had during the test drive, as normal behavior, for that brand. After purchase, I immediately had to replace breaks, shocks, springs, engine mounts, spark plugs and very soon afterward the cracked and sloppily repaired, water leaking tail light that was on the car when purchased. Later, I had to replace the entire steering assembly, when the power steering went out three weeks after purchase. All this cost $6,500.00, almost as much as I paid to buy the car, after my trade in. The the car soon repeatedly and dangerously stalled at intersections due to compression failure commensurate with worn apex seals and I was faced with having to buy a new engine for $5,600.00. I therefore cut my losses and traded it in for a new car, after only two months of ownership. I took very good care of the car and no problems stemmed from my misuse. This experience reminded me of all the stereotypes from the movie "Used Cars" except it was so funny this time. I have no inclination to do business with Tim Dahle Nissan again, and would not recommend them to anyone.

Amazing service!

I was looking for a new car and knew nothing about cars. When I pulled up Chase was welcoming and very friendly. He was very knowledgeable about the cars and helped me find something that was in my price range and something that I would be happy with in the long run. He wasn't too pushy and demanding at all! He made me feel right at home and I enjoyed my experience there very much!

Lease 2014 Nissan Leaf

by rjac1 on 06/13/2014

Justin and the management team worked very hard to get me a lease that I could afford on a Leaf all electric car. I am very happy with the first week of driving the car. If you can live with the range of the vehicle (advertised as 100 miles/charge, but probably more like 80) I would highly recommend Justin, the car and dealership.

Great Deal, Great Place to buy a car

by frontierlover on 06/11/2014

Never in a million years would I have thought that buying a car could be so easy and smooth. Not only did I get the perfect car we were looking for but we got a super good deal! Stephen made the process very smooth and is great to work with. He followed up with me the very next day. I thought he was calling me to tell me I didn't get approved or they need more money, in my head I thought, (I knew it was too good to be true). But I was sooo wrong. He only called to make sure I was happy and loved my truck. Thanks Tim Dahle and Thanks Stephen. I will be back, but hopefully not soon.

Devon D provided an excellent experience purchasing Armada

by firedolphin on 04/29/2014

Devon D provided an excellent experience purchasing 2010 Nissan Armada. My wife and I visited several car dealerships the day we bought the vehicle. There were several salesman at other dealerships who were quite aggressive that day and it seemed like they had not had a sale in weeks. The were helpful, but I just didn't want to by a car from them. When I arrived and Tim Dahle Nissan in Sandy I met Devan. He joked around a bit which I really liked. He had some catchy little sales phrases which were entertaining which make me chuckle. However the test of a great salesman comes after the close is made. Devan continued contact with me several days after the sale arranging to have some things done with the vehicle that we had negotiated at closing. There was a window tint that was scratched and they repaired that for free. I got the vehicle a bit dirty the week after I bought it and the service center washed it without saying a word. Great service Devan Dillanburg and Nissan of Sandy. I like Devan and the next time I buy a car I will look him up. Russ K

"Earned Our Business"

by smerrill67 on 05/13/2013

*I would have liked to have been able to delete my prior review. The managers at Tim Dahle Nissan of Sandy contact me on May 14, 2013 and have since made everything perfect. We did purchase a car from them and I can honestly say, they truly did "earn our business." Here is my new review: I cannot thank managers Umair R and Mark I and salesman Stephen G enough for making our daughter's first new car purchase an over-the-top experience for her! There were some previous issues and Mr. R and Mr. I did everything in their power to ensure that customer satisfaction was their #1 priority. Salesman, Stephen G was an exceptionally pleasurable person to work with and his personality and no-pressure attitude made my daughter feel extremely comfortable. Tim Dahle Nissan in Sandy and specifically Mr. R, Mr. I and Mr. G definitely "earned our business." As buyers of two other Nissan vehicles which we purchased new, we will return to Tim Dahle Nissan in Sandy when we are ready for a new Maxima and will continue to have our Nissan vehicles serviced there as well. An extremely satisfied customer, Stephanie M

Great first car buying experience!

by Linz_E on 04/13/2013

This sales team makes it very easy to get into a great car! With Devon's sales assistance I had discussed pricing and chose a car before I set foot on the dealership. When I went in to take care of the paperwork I was welcomed immediately and the process was cake from then on. Paperwork took probably less than an hour to complete, thanks to Michael, and I was able to leave in my shiny new 2013 Nissan Sentra. Devon and David worked to get me a great deal, I never would have dreamed that my first car could be this nice. This very friendly staff made me feel right at home and made my first buying experience something to remember. Thanks Tim Dahle Nissan! You guys are great!

What do you expect from a car salesman?

by eztt on 03/10/2011

I used Edmunds to get a price quote on the Nissan Rogue S360, love the service! Tim Dahle responded and after a few discussion and emails we decided to visit them. The price still wasn't as low as I had hoped, but the salesman told me "butts in the seats, not phone conversations makes my manager deal". We drove to the dealership, the manager wouldn't go any lower but they were still the best deal around so we agreed to purchase. From there we waited for 2 hours to sign the papers, then as we walked in to the finance office my wife clearly said NO extended warranties, NO discounted service plans, nothing but the car. Maybe the guy didn't hear the repeated no's, we still had to listen to all the offers. Then, comes the disclosure about negotiated bank rates being lower than advertised and if they got it for lower, they pocketed the difference. We told him from the beginning that we wanted to go through a local credit union and then noticed he had "accidentally" listed a national bank with no local branches on the contract. Again, maybe he didn't hear, right? 10 months later here's the last straw. While opening the mail tonight I get this official looking letter with fines and penalties for misuse printed all over it, I'm thinking what did I do to the IRS? I open it, it's a buy back promo for Tim Dahle. Being a sucker I read it, it tells me to go to a mytradeincar.com type website to see what their 120% (up to of course) trade in value based upon KBB. It also has cash rebates and bonuses and discounts all listed. I click submit, it doesn't give me a price, it puts me on contact me list and of course within 30 minutes my phone rings. While talking to the salesperson, he reminds me of the best case stuff they print on there, he points out the fine print and the either / or's. Then to add an unneeded insult for not reading all the fine print first he says common sense should tell me that they can't give me all of this stuff. Well common sense tells me that I won't be back to Tim Dahle nor will I refer anybody to them.

Good Service!

by kmaurer on 07/10/2009

Took my Rogue in for its 15,000 mile service. Was greeted promptly, and car was finished ahead of schedule. They also wash the exterior after washing it! The inside was also clean (tan colored interior). All of the work seemed to be up to snuff, and my oil level was not too full. Overall, a good job, but somewhat pricey.
