excellent service all around

by joseph clark on 10/25/2021

got a new-to-me pilot at gillman. it’s where my family comes for a reliable vehicle and great service. everyone i interacted with was polite and professional, from wanda at reception to monty, my sales rep, to rudy in finance. it was fantastic. i had done my research and knew which vehicle i wanted. monty and rudy made it happen and better than i had budgeted for. i even had a question about something on my pilot before i left and monty referred me to ‘spanky’ in service. they are a team that knows who to lean on. i love it. thank you wanda, for always being there to greet me and ask how i’m doing before you set me up with someone great. thank you monty lagunas, for treating me with so much respect. thank you rudolph “rudy” branham, for crunching the numbers and getting me a great deal. thank you brian “spanky” scott, for helping with a random question and checking back to make sure i got it solved. the guys in make ready did an awesome job before i drove off. i recommended all of them when you visit gillman honda.

Bait and Switch Trap - STAY AWAY

by user_212 on 06/27/2018

I was looking to purchase a car that was advertised on Edmunds.com under Gillman Honda, and spoke to chat specialist from Gillman Honda regarding the vehicle to ensure it was still there. After receiving confirmation that this vehicle was still for sale and present on their property from the representative, and even setting up an appointment to come see and test drive the car, I discover that they do not have that car in their inventory after all! I do not recommend this business to anyone as they will just try to bait you with cars they do not even have to trap you and sell you another. Don't waste your time with them!

Gillman Honda

by ms_sanantonio on 02/28/2018

As a former Honda of America Mfg associate I greatly appreciate the professionalism and knowledge that Ana Valadez demonstrated when I was in the market for a new car. Ana Valadez represented the Honda values from the initial contact through post sales. As a follow-up, I asked for the opportunity to speak with Gillman Honda SA’s General Manager and expressed my appreciation for her professionalism and knowledge; and would have spoken with the Honda zone representative if on site.

Negative buying experience

by Unhappy on 08/08/2017

Please tell any family, friends or military moving to the San Antonio area to NOT do business with Gillman Honda. We used USAAs car buying service, placed a hold on the car we wanted with our credit card, and scheduled my husband an appointment to purchase the car (flying over 5 hours in from out of state) Behind the salesman's back, their finance manager over-rode our hold and sold it out from underneath us. Unfortunately, it sounds like it was the only one in Texas with the color, trim, and options we wanted. USAA was very interested in our story. Not a happy Gillman Honda customer. I would give zero stars if I could.

Failed to honor price quoted

by AFLtCol on 07/14/2016

In the Fall of 2014. the Pentagon Federal Credit Union was offering a 0% interest rate to members who purchased a new car from a dealer participating in their program. In San Antonio, TX, one participating dealer was Gillman Honda. I took the PFCU price sheet to Gillman, who said they didn't have any Accord Hybrid cars that weren't fully loaded with all possible options (and a price tag of $40k). Apparently, the demand was so high in the first few months after the Accord Hybrid's release that Honda and its dealers didn't feel the need to sell lower priced versions (the one I was looking for was about $28k). I told them I was in no rush, and could afford to wait until production caught up with demand. Called back every few weeks to see if the car was available, and was told it wasn't. After about 5 months, Gillman says they couldn't possibly sell me the car at the price negotiated by PFCU. I decided to walk out at that point and went to Jordan Ford, who was happy to sell me a Fusion Hybrid at the PFCU price. If I ever decide to buy a Honda again (we previously had a Prelude that we were very happy with), it will NOT be from Gillman.

Dealer Met My Expectations

by HarryELowe on 01/07/2013

My wife and I recently purchased a 2013 Honda Accord LX from Gillman. I had discussed my terms with the internet manager and quoted him a price I wanted. He told me that he could meet it. We arranged to meet him at the dealership and he met us promptly. He was busy with another customer but the salesman who took care of us did a great job. We got to drive the car and it was just what my wife wanted. Gillman processed our paperwork as fast as they could (being 12/29 it took longer as more people were buying). When it came to finance, Hugh F. was outstanding. I think he is the best finance person I have ever dealt with. Overall, this was a good experience. I remember helping my daughter a Honda from Gillman and we received the same great treatment. If you want a Honda, do your research and then contact Gillman.

Wonderful experience!

by solob on 11/11/2012

Marc W. emailed me back with a price. I went by 2 days later and he was professional and helpful. I had a terrible sales experience with Benson when my husband bought his CRV in 2011. I had always been a Saturn owner and my Gillman experience was equally as customer service oriented. Everything about the experience was catered to my needs and schedule.

Gillman Honda is a joke

by blu2229 on 06/25/2011

This place is incredibly unprofessional. We told Tony (the internet sales guy) that we would be there in 20 min. & when we showed up, we waited for him to "get back" for about 45 min. Then he took us to the Honda Pilot we had asked about. Ironically, this was the same Manager's Special vehicle we had test-driven 3 wks ago & were at that time told it had been sold-??? Then the car had no gas and wouldn't start. Tony even went to get a jumper battery and it still wouldn't start. He left us out in the 100+ degree heat waiting for him to figure out what to do. (he was inside enjoying the air conditioning) We went to 2 dealerships including Gillman Honda that day and ended up buying a new vehicle from the other dealership. Poor poor customer service when you make them wait, lie to them, and then try to sell them a junk car.

Wonderful experience

by armandg on 04/06/2010

I was pleasantly surprised by the experience that I had while purchasing my 2010 Honda Odyssey at Gilman Honda. Initially, we went there just so we could test drive the vehicle. I told the sales consultant, Kevin Hellums, that we weren't interested in buying it, just driving it. He was very respectful to our wishes and didn't attempt to sell us the vehicle. We test drove it, then inquired about used Odysseys. We went to CarMax and then determined that it would be in our best interest to purchase a new Odyssey; therefore, we went back to Kevin and informed him that we wanted the price for a new Odyssey. After receiving his price, we were up front in telling him that we were going to Gunn Honda to compare the Gillman offer with the Gunn offer. Gunn offered us their "low simple price," which was much lower than the Kelly Blue Book value...and slightly lower than the Gillman price. Since Kevin was so respectful to us during our two visits, we decided to return one last time and make him aware of the Gunn Honda price for the van. Most of this deal was conducted by my wife, who is familiar with one of the desk managers at Gunn Honda; therefore, I didn't expect Gillman to beat the Gunn price, but they did. They also had the color van that I was looking for (Alabaster Silver Metallic). Kudos to Kevin for his professionalism and easy-going attitude. I know he wanted the sale; however, he kept his cool demeanor throughout the entire experience.

Lacks Customer Service

by cmrivera on 08/21/2009

I purchased an pre-owned auto that only came with one key; the valet key. The salesman said he would work on getting me another key for it, after I purchased the vehicle. I waited several weeks and kept getting the run around and eventually called the Manager of used car sales. The Manager told me that his records show I got 2 keys when I purchased the vehicle. Suddenly, the original slaesman, also recalled that I got 2 keys when I bought the vehicle. My wife and I went to Gillman, in person, to speak with the Sales Manager and told him I was upset that the original salesman was lying about the key. I was told that the Car Porter also said I got 2 keys. I left the office to check on my registration and approximately 5 minutes later, the Manager came out and said he talked to the Car Porter alone and that he said that he only recalled 1 key being issued. Gillman eventually did pay for a new key for me after all this hassle. What concerns me is that 2 employees would lie about something like this and the fact that the Manager wouldn't believe a customer who spent over $20,000 at his dealership. Whatever happened to "The Customer Is Always Right".

Poor customer service

by knight3 on 04/21/2008

Recently, we had completed 95% of a used car purchase on a 2005 Honda Odyssey Touring Edition. The only thing left was for my wife to come in a sign the paperwork however prior to doing that we wanted to give the vehicle one quick run through prior to getting the keys. What happened next was totally unexpected. The salesperson handed us a defective remote key fob while at same time telling us she forgot to fill the vehicle with gas even though she had all day to do it. Okay, second key fob works but after 20 seconds of checking out CD player, the battery dies. Okay, time to jump start. Open the hood and the engine is filthy dirty. This is a vehicle supposedly just out of what they call "make ready" otherwise known as detailing it and making it look new again. This was especially disturbing since this vehicle was being sold as CERTIFIED and we had also signed on to purchase the 100K Bumper to Bumper warranty. While looking over the rest of the vehicle it was obvious they did a lousy job of detailing the interior to say the least. When you find a lollipop stick and coke/coffee residue spill on folddown trays without even looking someone is not doing there job. Too make a long story short, 24hrs later the vehicle still was not ready. We gave up and are going in another direction especially since not a single person from management has contacted us to find out what they can do to earn our business and trust. If it is this bad at the purchasing stage...what will the service be like. One can only imagine. Furthermore, I even wrote the President of Gillman AutoGroup out of Houston, Texas today to express my displeasure and unfortunately have yet to hear from them either. If anything should change whether good or bad, I will update this soonest. Signed, Dissatisfied in New Braunfels
