Horrifying Experience

by Colette on 03/06/2022

Freeman Toyota is the only car dealership I have ever bought (my car life) my cars from. What I like about them is that when you go in to buy a car you will leave there with a car. What I dislike about them is their hidden deceptive attitude and behavior concerning their customer. They are all about excellence review and they are not treating their customers with excellent service. They are more into themselves (employees/ employers) their so call family. You feel like you are dealing with a mafia and not a car dealership. Customer are constantly being deceived in every area of their department. I would recommend people however, I wouldn’t want them to have this kind of behavior experience. My goal is to look at my attitude and work on what might have triggered this experience.

Best Car Buying Experience Ever

by Bunnyf68_Texas on 10/26/2016

Purchased a 2016 Toyota 4Runner from Adam Minkley at Freeman Toyota and it was the easiest car buying experience I have ever had. I have always been a Chevrolet person, so it was a big change for me to even go to the Toyota dealership. They were friendly and not at all pushy. I had been considering a new SUV for quite a while but was dreading the whole "car buying" process. Go to Freeman Toyota and ask for Adam Minkley. Sales and Financing were both amazing.

Best service with friendly and helpful staff

by tamiseckel on 08/15/2016

Freeman Toyota/Used Lot had the friendliest staff. Rudy Cenicero's hands down the best salesman I have ever met. He was friendly and personable. Did not make us feel pressured and most of all made us feel comfortable. I WILL COME BACK FOR FUTURE BUY! We even named our vehicle after him. Thanx to Michael Daniels for his compassion and friendly smile. He made our day.

Wow

by Mondonium on 07/14/2015

These folks are awesome. I was looking for a hard to find model truck. The sales manager worked his magic and soon I had exactly the car I was looking for. I went in, filled out the paperwork and was soon driving home in my wife's new car. Who says car buying is a hassle? Give Freeman a shot. You'lol be glad you did.

Nine Months and STILL no Hitch

by donanddonna on 10/02/2012

I bought a 2012 Toyota Sienna in January 2012, including a tow package. I was supposed to get a hitch installed in a few days. After putting me off for several weeks they finally told me that the hitch for the Sienna had been recalled but another one would be soon available. It has now been nine months and I was told today that Toyota still does not know when a hitch will be available. What did I buy the tow package for?

I took the car back 2 days afterwards after taking it to the shop and they told me they they would not take the car back or even fix it. Seems there's a hitch...or not

by donanddonna on 02/13/2012

I bought my new Sienna early in Jan. It is now middle of Feb and a hitch that was supposed to be installed, just cannot be found...several times. I have been told "on the way", "here soon", "I'll call you'", and variations over the last few weeks. Getting tired of this. I wasn't in a hurry but this is foot dragging and it's getting old. Love the car, but would like to have the hitch installed as promised.

Outstanding "Long Distance" Purchase

by chuck151 on 01/09/2012

I wanted to thank Gary Hopper at Freeman Toyota. He did an outstanding job of helping me to purchase a new Toyota for my sister-in-law, who lives in Dallas. I live in San Antonio and have never purchased a car “long distance”. Gary made it easy and he was a joy to work with. The price was right and he delivered it to my sister-in-laws doorstep. She is very happy with the car. I’ve never had a more enjoyable experience when purchasing a car. Gary and the dealership are highly recommended. Chuck

Excellent Staff, Service, and Product. Thanks Marcus and Dustin!

by donanddonna on 01/03/2012

We have owned a Toyota Prius since 2006 and could not have been more pleased with the vehicle. However, we had a need to move to a larger vehicle and researched several online before our actual purchase. Although we were pleased with Toyota and hoped to get another one, we did consider several other makes before purchasing. As it turned out, the 8 passenger Sienna mini-van, was the best choice. Our first contact was with Marcus Perdue, and later with Dustin...sorry, didn't get his last name. Both were incredibly friendly and helpful, which is particularly apperciated as we both have health issues. On one visit, we brought our 5-year-old grandson with us and everybody made him welcome as well. The price of the van was lower than expected, and they threw in a part for free that I had hoped to get but forgot to order. They were perfectly comfortable with our desire to check out other makes before buying and even encouraged us to do so. We are enjoying our new Sienna mini-van, which drives like a luxury car, by the way, and has the best turning radius of any car I can remember owning....and I have owned many! Thank you, Marcus, Dustin, Mike, Jeff, and anybody I forgot to mention.

Fleet Mgr Gary Hopper found what I wanted and kept his word

by rd7scoop on 05/03/2011

Gary Hopper, the Fleet Manager at Freeman Toyota in Hurst, TX, was able to get me the 2011 Sienna I wanted (an 8-passenger Red Salsa Pearl in the LE trim level with the factory Tow Prep package and Remote Start). Several other dealers had told me that the LE just doesn't come with Tow Prep (larger radiator, fans and oil cooler) and tried to "steer" me to something else. I had a list of features that I did not want, such as moonroofs and high-markup dealer add-ons. One dealer was very condescending to my wife, so he didn't get far with me. Gary, though, was straight-forward and kept me informed on his search. He kept his word on the price (which was very close to Edmunds' TMV) and I enjoyed doing business with him. When Toyota temporarily suspended factory change orders on the Sienna, Gary found the vehicle I wanted in Memphis, made a dealer trade (between Regions), and had the swap completed via trailer. We did everything via email and telephone except for one trip to the dealership to sign papers. Edmunds research was very helpful.

Best Car Buying Experience

by cristina1116 on 04/13/2010

I recently started listening to 'The Car Guy' (Jerry Reynolds) on WBAP because I hate shopping for a new car. So I contacted Jerry by email for advice on where to go for a Toyota Rav4. He told me that Freeman Toyota is the only Toyota dealer to go to and that they would take care of me. Thanks Jerry! Buying a car has never been this easy. They took care of every thing by email and phone. When I finally did go in to sign papers, they had everything ready. I was out in 30 minutes!! Best car buying experience I've ever had!!!

Amazing Sales, Finance and Management Staff

by nannie04 on 02/03/2009

I have been buying Toyota automobiles for most of my adult life and have experienced varying types of treatment across most of the dealerships. Most recently I spent 3 full months researching and exchanging information with various dealers across a 5 state area. All of this time, Jeff Thompson (Internet/Fleet Sales) and Chris Wilson (Finance) were by far the most courteous, friendly, respectful of my time, intelligence and personal status (single white female near retirement age) that I can remember doing business with. Although they were not the most responsive to eMail communication (may be underestimating the purchasing intent of internet shoppers) they were extremely responsibe to my telephone calls and personal visits. Neither of them made it difficult to schedule visits to their dealership (other sales folks never could be there when I could get there). They were extremely attentive to my concerns and did not blow me off or dance around the issue when I questioned the information they were trying to "sell" me on. They are both friendly without being in your pocket all the time. They were warm enough to be likable and easy to talk to and never came across as know-it-all or pushy. Before I completed my transaction, the sales manager stopped by and chatted with my grandson and I. I asked about a third row floor mat and he personally went to make sure there was one - promising if there wasn't he would make sure I got it before I left the dealership. The extra touches and the willingness to find terms and negotiate price points made the experience not the normal dread of preferring a beating to buying a new car. This is not to say they or their dealership is an "easy mark". It is up to the consumer to do comparative shopping, research the pricing of options and models (many thanks to Edmunds.com for the great help) and be prepared to be reasonable but fair and firm in your negoations. I have purchased from three different Toyota dealers in the Fort Worth area and at least 1 outside of TX and highly recommend the dealership as well as both Jeff and Chris - and did so just this morning to a colleague who is considering a new Toyota (Rav4 or Highlander) purchase in the coming months.

Unfriendly, rude, and lets see [violative content deleted]?

by michael_t817 on 01/25/2009

I went to Freeman Toyota in hopes of finding myself a car for college with my father. I left Freeman feeling angry that I had wasted my time with such unfriendly, ignorant fools. My father who's english isn't the very best, was spoke to as if he was retarded. Our salesmen had to consult his manager every 5 mins to give us the "best possible price". In the end the manager came out pretty much told my dad that his dealer is the best in the world and if we can find a corolla for the price we wanted(15k) , he would go to that dealer and buy 100 corollas off his lot. He insisted that a corolla for 15k could only be found in our little fantasy land. At this point I was getting pretty ticked off. But what pushed me over the edge was the fact that he was mocking my dad's stuttering and his bad grammer and english. I finally had enough, so I used his own smart aleck bs on him just to get him mad. We left of course and proceeded on to going to [another dealership] in which I made my purchase of a Honda civic. If you can't speak english very well, your better off going somewhere else.

Sterotype of a slimy dealership

by itshanayo on 06/29/2008

Got a 2000 Mercury Cougar from them. When I bought it, there were cords in the backseat hanging out, they said they would take care of it and even wrote it in the contract. We bought the car for like $80000. When I came later to get it, the cords were NOT taken care of, and there was still a live wire in it. They didn't clean the car, and only cleaned the areas that come within first sight (as in not under the seats, the pockets, under floor mats, etc). The salesman just put ducktape over it. The dealership failed to put a front license plate on it and I got stopped by a cop 2 weeks after having the car because it didn't have one, luckily he let me go, but I was very upset. I've only had the car for 9 or 10 months and these are the following problems with it: Exhaust pipe has come off 3 times. The hazard lights, turn signals, and car horn don't work. They almost wouldn't honor the warranty until I said I mentioned Better Business Bureau. They also wouldn't repair the car, told me Mercury Dealership would have to fix it, not Freeman Toyota. The car was sold at a terrible rate and wasn't even worth the price paid for it. On top of that, they had absolutely terrible service and gave us the run-around. I would recommend a Saturn dealership. They're no haggle/no hassle and are MUCH nicer/better.

Highly Recommend Freeman

by irsteph on 01/13/2008

I am a single Mom and this was my first time to purchase a new vehicle that did not involve buying from friends or family. I had done my research through Edmunds on the 2008 Camry. I used the car buying service through USAA (for military and their families) and was assigned Gary Hopper as my rep. Gary was extremely professional and there was NO pressure or games. He was able to get me exactly what I wanted and the price was right at the USAA and Edmonds target price. He even threw in tinted windows. Even when I went by myself to to talk to the finance guy I didn't feel like I was sitting in a shark tank. He was able to get me a better interest rate that beat even my pre-approved rate through my bank or USAA. When I told him I wasn't interested in the extras, such as Lojak he didn't keep hounding me. If you want a good price and a salesman that will work hard with you and no games, then you can't go wrong with Gary and Freeman!

The WORST dealership ever!!!

by annak3 on 11/27/2007

Came to buy a 2007 Camry. Unprofessional, uncourteous, you name it. Got the run around and the stall tactics. Got a good monthly payment. But wait after signing contract the price mysteriously sky rockets. I asked for the copy of the contract blatantly lies to me saying I already have one. Did not want to deal with me anymore so calls the police to escort me away at closing time. The dealership is full of [violative content removed] the salesman, the supervisor (Tad), the Manager Victor Bernal. This is a great example of how to not run your business. Spread the word Freeman Toyota of Hurst can't be Trusted! [violative content removed]

A Pleasant Experience!

by sunfusionfj on 11/03/2007

I contacted Ken Laird through the "Request a Quote" page on the Toyota Website. He immediately answered through email with a serious quote. I waited until all other quotes were in to request that he move the exact car I wanted to his dealership. From that point on, the purchase was a breeze. Everyone at the dealership was extremely friendly and helpful. After dealing with all the horrible tricks that other dealerships play on buyers, I was extremely relieved by the professional atmosphere at this dealership! A previous buyer had recommended this dealership to me, and I would also recommend it. I dealt with 5 other dealerships before I found out about Freeman Toyota, and I was ready to give up on buying a Toyota at all. This dealership saved Toyota's reputation with me.

Bag of Tricks

by brianjames on 09/16/2007

I went looking for a specific $32K truck this weekend. They have "kids" running the place and the results are obvious. They wanted to do the old "here is how this is going to happen" routine...I am your friend...I work for you...yada yada. They did not know their stock or where it was on their relatively meager lot. When I ask for pricing on a specifc unit, they pull the old 'how much have you got" gag. I respectfully asked for their best price. They send out a boy no older than 22 who tells me he is the sales manager and proceeds to show me a print out that he says is their dealer invoice. I laughed so hard I thought my side would split. "Junior" then counseled me on the "we need to trust each other..this is not an adversarial situation" speech. Of course we all know that is problem...buyers not trusting their dealers enough. I thanked them for the 30 minutes of time (no effort expended) and walked. While I was there, there was an older couple that had been there since 9:00AM that morning. It was close to 4:00PM by that time and they had no idea what was going on or when they would be done with their deal. I felt sorry for them. I suspect they were in the middle of the wringer process and only half-way done. If they had a choice, I hope they saw that they should run the show left before getting thoroughly fleeced. This dealership is a joke. I suggest going to Vandergriff in Arlington. They appear to be the only one in the DFW metroplex with adults in charge and business being done in a dignified, respectful way.

Freeman Toyota Screwed Us Over!!

by 2002vwpassat on 08/16/2007

When my car died we didn't have a lot of time to shop around for another since I have to work to make money and all! So we found a 2002 VW Passat at Freeman Toyota that I immediatley fell in love with! The salesman said they had done a 60 point inspection and the car was in tip-top shape, so we buy it! As I was driving it home from the dealership, the skid plate underneath came off! They replaced that for free... thanks. Before we even put 500 miles on it, the engine light comes on! Since we were 3 hours away from home we took it to the only VW place we knew of where they tell us that the brake hose is so old it should have been the first thing changed when the dealership had it! They literally crumbled the hose in front of us to show us exactly how old it was! Cost us $117! Then they told us that the power steering pump was also going out and that should be fixed soon as well! When we got back by husband called the salesman and told him what we have had to deal with and he told us just to stop spending money on it and just bring it in, they will take care of it. That day, my front passenger tire was flat! It was so old that the sides were bulging out! I haven't even had this car 2 months and I'm already having to change an old tire?! We take it to the dealership and the guy who sold it to us pawns us off on another guy who knows nothing about our situation. So he tells us that we can switch it out but that we would be upside down on it and will have to pay more for me to get another car! No, I don't see how that is helping me! So I ask if they can just fix the car since it was obviously neglected before it was sold to us. He says that we will have to talk to the Sales Manager Mark Wimberly, who before we even get into the room, yells that he won't pay for anything, that we bought the car that way and it's our problem now! I ask to see the 60 point inspection because I would think that a brake hose might be considered important enough to be on an inspection. He tells me that it doesn't matter if I see it or not that it doesn't change the fact that he won't be paying for any of the damages on my car. He and my husband yell back and forth to each other about how people should be treated when he finally says that he will see what they can do to fix it. They give me a loaner to drive, yeah, the gas tank was empty! This was all last Friday and I haven't heard anything from them other than me calling and getting the runaround about what is going on with my car! I expected buying a used car that I would need to repair some things like the ash tray that won't stay shut and the spot on the passengers seat, but not things that would threaten my safety like a brake hose! I also never expected to be treated like that from someone calling themself a manager! I will never refer this dealership to anyone and have and will take every opportunity to let everyone know how they treat their customers! When I'm done with this I will submit a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.
