Update to previous posting

I am happy to say that there is an update to my situation with Lugoff Ford. I originally posted here with a one star review because I voiced concerns regarding an unpleasant situation and the management did not respond to me when they agreed they would. That being said the GM Richard did reached out and took the time to listen to my concerns. I requested documentation and true to his word, I received it same day. I want to thank him and the Sales Manager Joe for fulfilling my request. The situation has not been fully resolved, but I wanted to update my score to more accurately reflect the experience I am receiving. I will provide a final update once everything has been resolved.

Will Never Buy From Lugoff Ford Again

This has been one of the worst car buying experiences I have ever gone through. Lugoff Ford sold the vehicle to another customer after I put a non-refundable payment on it, during the time in which they were supposed to be holding it. Now they want to keep my money because I didn’t want to buy a vehicle from them. I put $1,000 down as a non refundable payment on a Shelby GT 350 for the vehicle to be held for two weeks. I only agreed because a sales representative told me that the non refundable deposit could be transferred to another vehicle or paid back to me but it takes a while as it depends if they have cash on hand. One business day later I called them back because I was concerned what would happen if I could not get the funds to finish the sale and asked what the process is if I needed to get a refund. The sales manager told me that someone would call me back to go over options. After a week of no one calling me back I drove down to speak with someone and the Shelby was sold to another person. They offered to move my money to a different mustang. I saw that another dealership had the identical make and model over $1200 cheaper. I showed them and they refused to take any off the sale cost of the vehicle. They only offered to remove the up-charges that I didn’t have any interest in buying anyways. I ended up going with the dealership that was willing to work with me. I then went back and asked for my refund. They had me wait around for 4o minutes before the sales manager told me that I could not get the money back. I informed them what the sales representative told me about it being possible and both the sales manager and GSM accused me of lying. They said that their staff would have never told me that and they tried to disprove my statement. I asked for a copy of the signed non-refundable agreement, because I knew the car was sold when they were supposed to be holding it. They have failed to provide it to me when they said they would. The GSM was supposed to speak to the GM and follow back up with me today regarding the refund. I am disgusted that Lugoff Ford would accuse me of lying and yet their leadership has repeatedly failed to keep their verbal agreements regarding follow ups. It makes sense their sales staff are dishonest when their leadership themselves don’t keep their word.

misleading pricing

11 year old used car advertised online at a price that seemed a thousand or more below market so i called and asked why the price was so low and was the car alright. salesman said the car is clean and the price is right. so i drove 30 minutes out to Lugoff, drove the car and pulled out my checkbook. then was presented with a invoice totaling 64% above the advertised price. All i wanted to do was buy an old car from them. Why they would treat me so shabbily is just beyond me.

Outstanding job

"Outstanding Job" I tell you what I had best experience at a dealership then I have ever had . I found a truck online. JC called me back with all the information plus some. I stop by on my way home from Atlanta. JC helped me with another truck I liked. I had to go but JC got everything ready for me when I came back the next day. I was in and out. I will only buy my vehicles from JC and Lugoff Ford from now on.

Could not have gone better!!!

"Could not have gone better!!!!" I've bought many new cars in my life and I will have to say that this was the best experience my wife and I have ever had in purchasing a new car. Super friendly staff, very knowledgeable about the product and very sensitive to our needs...what we wanted in a car and our budget limitations. We will definitely be going back for our car and truck purchases in the future and also recommending Lugoff Ford to our friends and family.

Easiest car purchase ever

"Easiest car purchase ever!!" I had been putting off buying a car. Finally after hearing and reading only good things about Lugoff Ford I decided to give it a shot. I hadn't financed a car in almost 20 years, had damaged credit from divorce, but the staff immediately made me feel at home. Every part of the process was easy. They were patient with me picking out a car. They found me the perfect car, 2012 Mustang GT, great financing and answered all of my many questions. If you're putting off buying a car because of the typical "car buying hassle" , then go to Lugoff Ford, I will buy all my cars from them from now on.

terrible experience

Aside from an online catalogue that is completely out of date, the moniker 'always fast, always friendly' was a bit of a misnomer; considering my initial visit lasted 6 hours to look at one car, involving multiple prolonged periods of waiting. When I came back to get my car after waiting a week for simple maintenance repairs, the work had not been completed [yet Lugoff Ford intended to release the vehicle to me anyway]. During attempts to contact the dealership I received horrible follow up service, on multiple occasions being told I would be called back only to have to call back myself hours later. After waiting another week to have the work on the car done [again, with no feedback or follow-up from Lugoff Ford that wasn't pried] I arrived to find part of the work still hadn't been completed, because the shop manager 'refused' to do it - despite a written agreement at the point of sale indicating the work would be done. In addition to refusing to perform the service agreed to, the car was damaged in while under the care of Lugoff Ford and they refused to repair the damage due to ‘having spent too much money on the sale of a used car already’. How exactly that justification is made is beyond me - when work was agreed upon at the point of sale and damage was caused while under care of the dealership. Additionally, I requested to have my tags transferred when I purchased my vehicle, but Lugoff Ford neglected to remove the plates from my trade-in when sent to auction, which means I have to schedule a visit to the DMV now. The loaner vehicles offered during the time my car was in the shop were nice; but, unfortunately they practice a ‘finders keepers’ rather than a lost and found policy. I suppose it’s my fault for possibly leaving items in the vehicle, but I would still expect more from any customer based Service Industry Company. I am incredibly dissatisfied with the service provided, and would strongly recommend interested buyers look elsewhere.

Nightmare

The finance person Billy P. treated me and my wife in a most condescending and arrogant manner. He consistently gave half-answers to our questions and tried to make us feel stupid. My wife couldn't take it any more and actually walked out of his office in disgust. On a question about having a loan co-signer his only response was "You don't want to go there." On why his estimate of interest rate was so high, "What did you THINK it was going to be?" He also didn't disclose that he had added an extended warranty for $1700 dollars into the loan amount until we questioned why the monthly payment was going to be so high. Billy made us wait over an hour to remove it from the deal while he chose to help another customer, then unbelievably compared the extended car warranty to medical insurance asking if we would consider going without that. Throughout the process, he mentioned things like "You don't understand how much of a burdon this is on me," and "I'm doing you a favor." This treatment turned an OK car-buying experience into a nightmare.

Wish I Bought A Chevy

Bought a new mustang on 9-21-10. Next day car started to skip, smoke and stall. Brought it back to dealership where it has been ever since, waiting on a new PCM. Tried to void out the sale but sales manager said the car was already titled to me. Very fast with the paperwork at this dealership. Asked about an extended warranty at there expense and got nothing. You would think after returning a car after 1 day the dealership might step up and try to make it right, but I am getting nothing from this place. Never again will I buy a car from them.
