Our old car was getting to the point that we needed to trade it in. I rented a KIA about 5 years ago and hated it so much that I returned it the same day. Since then research has shown that a big improvement has been made to them. I researched all the various reviews, and compared warranties and crash test and must admit I was impressed with the results. I decided to give it another test run. Like thousands of others I heard the Jim Shorkey’s commercial on the radio and decided to give them a try. My sales associate was Eric Carroll. He returned my call and answered several questions and gave me a vote of confidence. I made an appointment for that afternoon. When I arrived (30 minutes late due to traffic) I was told that Eric was still with a customer and would I mind if Ryan McGuinness assisted me. Eric has previously given Ryan all of my information, and he was prepared for my arrival. I was impressed with the fact that they had a folder prepared for me with information about the car and the dealership. Ryan answered all of my questions and concerns about being a first time Lessee. He was well informed and passed his knowledge on to my wife and I about the benefits of leasing. He then started telling me about the benefits of completing this deal with Jim Shorkey dealership. Ryan told me that the salespersons at this dealership were NOT on commission. Now I was beginning to understand some of the information that he told me that originally made me leery. You see I was use too the sales person trying to get the highest price for the sale. Information that was being given to me was just the opposite as he was telling me how to get the best deal for my money. Now it made sense. Eric came over to our desk when we arrived, and explained the situation as to why he was unable to work with us. He also “Asked” if that was OK! I was actually made to feel like we were more than just a sale. I was impressed with how Eric and Ryan worked together in a non-competitive sense. They both went 110% to assist us. We also had occasion to talk to two other associates during our stay. One was a maintenance worker who saw us looking at the floor model and stopped to show us various features and unique qualities of this SUV. He was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We also talked with Adam, who took the time to answer questions. Maybe this “non-commission” idea has some good qualities. Everybody in the dealership was “Equally” helpful. At no time did we get the impression that “you’re not my customer, I’m not making out on you, you’re somebody else problem”. Now to get on to the deal. We selected the 2016 Kia Sportage LX. I was amazed at the amount of car that you got for the money, but more surprised when we went for the test drive. The car was sound, comfortable, and had some GREAT features. The deal was made. Overall I was extremely satisfied with the dealership, staff, and sale. I would highly recommend this dealership to anybody looking for a car. It’s easy to understand why they continue to grow.
