Excellent buying experience with Shane Randall

What a great experience we had buying our new Audi Allroad at Audi Beaverton – never did we feel pressured in making a decision on which model and trim to buy, or rushed in agreeing to the final deal. Shane Randall, his Sales Manager, Brad Russell, and the whole crew at Audi Beaverton guided us through the deal and went above and beyond in finding the right fit for us. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!

I had the WORST experience at the Sunset Audi pre-owned dealership. The salesperson Chuck (or Larry? he never gave us a business card) was okay at first but only wanted to go on the freeway for about an exit or two. A few blocks from the dealership, I noticed that the engine was loud, revving high and the transmission was shifting inadequately. So, naturally, I tested the downshift and up-shift on the freeway. While on the freeway, the transmission issues were amplified and the car started making odd noises and clunky shifting to which I remarked to the salesperson. The salesperson recognized the noise, but when he realized we knew what the issue was, he started to SHOUT and YELL at me arguing that the car had over 100,000 miles and that my driving was the cause. Upon return to the dealership, I asked to speak to a manager to notify him of our dissatisfaction of Chuck's aggressive behavior. Then, the salesman refused to give me the photocopy of my driver's license (they took prior to the test drive) and he proceeded to SHOVE me!! The manager came out, but did nothing to help. After several minutes, he returned my paperwork to me. No apology was made neither from the salesperson nor from the manager. NEVER GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP! They flood you with BS so that you overlook problems and get stuck with a LEMON. This salesperson needs to be sanctioned as he is not fit to hold a customer service job!

Some good people, but some bad apples as well

After purchasing multiple cars from this dealership over the years, I will not be back. This dealerships has some people that are good to work with, but it seems that management takes a very shortsighted approach to sales. They would rather squeeze every dollar out of a sale than make a small concession. They use a lot of funny money tactics and describe "other interested buyers" to make a few bucks. Most recently, I had a deal agreed upon only to have them rescind the agreement because another sales person got a better offer from another buyer. This is perfectly fine if they want to do business this way, but I'd prefer to work with a company that stands behind their offer and doesn't play games. If you are shopping in the Northwest, there are some higher volume dealers in Seattle that have more selection and do so much volume that they don't haggle over the small stuff. My last new car I purchased from Sunset, I looked at Barrier Audi and Sunset. Barrier had better prices and selection, but I stuck with Sunset for the location and a nice sales guy. I won't make that mistake next time.

Sunset is making an effort

I must say that Sunset Audi really is trying… After having a horrible experience right off, Sunset has made an effort to try and make things right. After getting a personal phone call from the operations manager and having what seemed like a sincere and authentic conversation, I do feel like the company truly wants to make up for the actions of a rogue employee. After much deliberation, my husband and I have made the decision to give Sunset another chance in the hopes that they can correct a terrible first impression and create a lasting relationship with us as customers. I have to commend them for making the effort and I do hope that this time around, things are different. I am a hard person to persuade, but so far they are back on the right track.

Nothing special, and weak service hours

I visited this location as it is the only Audi dealer within a 150 mile radius of Portland Oregon. The showrooms are attractive and they had a decent but not huge inventory of vehicles. Given that they are the only Audi dealer around, their service hours were surprisingly limited - not open at all on Saturday, and only limited weekday hours. They did claim they have two service locations to better handle the weekday loan. There was nothing special about pricing (standard handoff policies, markups or packs on more popular vehicles). It certainly did not smack of anything "Premium", and did nothing to assure me there would be standout support for what is perceived to be a premium brand that unfortunately still has reliability issues.
