My husband & I are not "car" people - we typically purchase demos or service cars and drive them until they stop. My car is 15 yrs old with 240,000miles. My husband's car was going on 8 yrs... until a deer jumped in front of him on the freeway while traveling 70mph. Ouch. Though ecstatic he survived the brutal accident, we were forced to get a car and fast. And we BOTH hate the process... I developed a disdain for salesmen years ago so left the entire process in the hands of my husband. He was wavering between a Prius and a Volt and he was online and test driving for two weeks. Doing all this while juggling a very hectic work schedule was beginning to drain him. Meanwhile, a friend recommended a Fusion. We had never purchased a Ford, but my husband reluctantly agreed to test drive one. The dealership was about as I expected - to the point where helping us when we were already "with a salesmen", another would avoid our questions. It was a very popular dealership but I felt they were a bit cocky and several were downright rude. That being said, the test drive went well and my hubby actually loved the car! Somehow, I worked up the courage to step in more. With the internet, one can find so much more info than years earlier so I could at LEAST feel armed with info about pricing and options. I made an offer on the Fusion we drove and was not contacted for 2-3 days. In the meantime, I went online to find another with the options we wanted. No demos or service cars available and we were faced with sticker shock but figured out our budget. Hence, I ended up at AN Wickliffe. I made an appointment to meet with a salesman... by myself. Mind you, at 55 this was a first. Ray greeted me professionally and we discussed the car I'd found online. We agreed on a price - he was even so great that he steered me to a more cost-effective financing plan! The manager came over to introduce himself and was friendly and professional (not condescending or cocky). I didn't feel rushed, taken advantage of, talked down to or made to feel uncomfortable at all. So I bought an auto on my own and felt good about it! I explained that my hubby was still driving the rental and Ray arranged things so that hubby could come by that evening after work, drop off the rental at their lot, and drive home in his new car!!! And Ray took care of getting the rental back to the agency! No one can buy a car for nothing - maybe I didn't get the best deal someone else could get. But I felt dealt with in a positive light and I think we got a great car at a good price... and hubby says every day how much he is enjoying it!! Thanks, Ray and Auto Nation Wickliffe!!
