"Fool me Twice"

by Carefulshopper on 04/14/2022

"Fool me twice. " I guess this one was on me. After my last review I tried to write to the general manager but they keep the identity of that whatever it is hidden and I'm sure the lady running interference for them tossed my complaint but I did get a couple of calls from someone there asking to give them a second chance and promising it would be better. I did and they made an xxx out of me yet again. Car shown as in stock. I checked the "in stock" box. The picture of the new Camry was an actual picture from their lot (I recognized the background). I inquired and they called me no less than 4 times in a 20 hour period trying to get me to "make an appointment to see it." On the second to last call I told them I might come in the following day but since it wasn't a haircut I was after, I didn't feel the need to make an appointment. They must have made one for me because on the last call before heading down there, they had me down for 3:30. Yup, they made the appointment for me. Anyway, let me get to the good part. ONCE AGAIN THE VEHICLE NOT ONLY WASN'T THERE BUT NEVER WAS. It is inbound, due in a week. They tricked me yet again in an effort to presell the vehicle. xxx is wrong with these people? I hope you North Carolinians aren't stupid enough to fall for this garbage. Yes, inventory is low but they are LOVING this. Fewer employees, less advertising and each and every car sold at an absurd premium. People, just wait this out. It won't be much longer. And don't forgive this crap show of a dealer for what they are doing to everyone.

Most dealers lie a little but yikes, this one takes the cake

by Carefulshopper on 09/28/2021

Even though most of us are used to a dealer telling a lie now and then, there is a line that should never be crossed. Toyota of North Charlotte went so far past that line you wouldn't be able to see it anymore. I confirmed price and availability before heading down there the other day (a Sunday) but when I got there I discovered not only was the car not there yet but they added $5000 on top of the already high price. I don't understand their motivation in this set of compound lies. Do they really believe the people of NC are that gullible and stupid? Did they expect me to just be okay with going down there for nothing? It seems as if they had a personal vendetta against me but I did nothing to them. I complained via email and the next day received a call from Nate, the manager but he offered nothing but lip service and a half hearted apology. This dealer is as pathetic as they come, avoid it like the plague it is.

Rude salesperson

by Ash2424 on 06/25/2017

Trying to purchase a Toyota Corolla for my mom, I had a phone conversation with a sales person named Jamie. He was rude and condescending. When I asked if he would take $300 off of the price he quoted, he rudely/sarcastically said "I already provided the lowest price, that's why I wrote it down". Wow, really? My next purchase will be a Toyota Tundra, but it will not be from this dealership .

Service fraud

by BigAl77 on 05/08/2017

I went to dealer for oil and filter change and tire rotation. I was given written quote I needed rear brakes to be replaced. I declined service, I went to local mechanic I use and had him replace rotor and rear brakes. This is before I actually saw brake pads, and to my surprise I'm sure I had at least another 30,000, maybe more miles to go before changing brakes that dealer told me needed to change. I was also told brake fluid need to be changed, my local mechanic said fluid was ok. I thought those days of shabby service from dealer was in the past. I believe they tried to pad bill another 3 to 4 hundred dollars more. Beware of this dealer, Toyota of north Charlotte for any future work needed.

Excellent Purchase Experience

by Bada__tacoma on 04/28/2016

One of the best experiences I have had purchasing a vehicle. Knowledgeable, friendly and not the high pressure stereotype associated with car dealerships. From Jerry and Steve who helped answer all my questions about the vehicle and helped getting some accessories added to Cathy Fraley in finance who made the entire closing process simplea and straightforward. It was a pleasure doing business with them and would strongly recommend. Vehicle was spotless as it should have been at delivery, had a full tank of gas, tire pressure was accurate. I appreciated these details.

I wish I would have gone somewhere else.

by cmcipriano on 03/29/2016

We went to Toyota of North Charlotte on Easter Sunday just to take a ride and get out of the house and to look at the outside of the vehicles we were interested in. We totally didn't expect them to be open. The facility is absolutely gorgeous and very clean. Our initial contact was with Michael and he was awesome!! Michael was the best part of our entire visit. We really like him... But it went downhill from there. The "sales team" he was forced to hand us over to was bad. And, although, I like my new car, I have a lot of buyers regret from buying from them. I really, really wish I would have done more research and gone somewhere else. I'm not going to name exact names out of respect. They were just going to run a few numbers and the first "offer they came to me with" was absolutely ridiculous and no one in their right mind would even consider it. I think it was like $770 a month and I think they did it because they were really pushing a lease on us... Of course, our sales guy had to go back and forth and back and forth with one ridiculous offer after another. When the "Sales Manager" that the sales rep kept going to finally came out he was pushing the leasing yet again, I got kind of angry and gave him the cut it sign across my neck. I think I said something like, "A lease is completely out of the equation so stop asking." Once we did agree on something and I decided to buy the vehicle, it was late on Easter Sunday and the finance girl was in such a hurry, I'm not even sure she said, "Hello." I apologized for it being so late and she cut me off with a curt, "It's okay." but didn't even make eye contact with me so I know she was mad about having to stay late. Last night we went back to take our trade-in to them and the new finance person was more pleasant (we saw the one we dealt with the night before chatting with another employee and looking at wedding dresses on her computer). We saw the "Sales Manager" we dealt with and asked if they would sponsor a hole at our Little League Golf Tourney... it was worth a try... we figured we had them because we had just bought a new vehicle from them... But he was real negative and said, "the owners of the dealership never do things like this since they are in Florida." Our new finance person walked us over to the shop to get our mats but they were would have been forgotten if I hadn't mentioned it. Then when we were leaving we wanted to go through the car wash to get that days pollen off the car but had to search for someone to help us. Honestly, I wish I would have walked out after working with Michael. I will not recommend this dealership. At all.

Superior Customer Service

by CCN2016 on 02/16/2016

Darryl Nesbitt, Tierra and Shaderra Terry exceeded my expectations in purchasing my 2016 Toyota Highlander XLE. I was pleased with their professionalism and superior customer service. Toyota Scion of North Charlotte offered a systematic approach in selling cars. Each employee had a speciality area, which required them to work together as a team. Tierra served as the product specialist. I was impressed with her professional presentation of the car. During the product selection and test drive process, she asked the right questions to select the perfect vehicle. She considered my needs, criteria and future goals. She was able to select the right car, the first time for the test drive. When it was time to focus on a deal and purchasing, Don, a kind sales specialist, provided a detailed overview of purchasing options. I primarily worked with Darryl Nesbitt, sales specialist/manager. He was sharp, professional and confident. He was able to answer my questions with ease and thoroughness. He exhibited patience when I was trying to make a final decision. When I decided not to settle on a different trim, Darryl presented a new deal and financial agreement that fit my criteria and budget. He and Tierra sincerely wanted me to have my first choice. After finalizing the deal, my husband and I were escorted to the office of Shaderra Terry, the financial specialist. She explained all of the forms and their purpose. I had a clear understanding of the entire process. She was efficient and personable. After the car was detailed, Shaderra installed the car mats and set up my phone to Bluetooth. She gave me a tutorial of the technology package. When it was time to leave in my brand new Highlander, the team joined us outside and celebrated my purchase. I truly felt that I was treated with dignity and respect throughout the entire process. Please consider purchasing your new car from Toyota Scion of North Charlotte. You will be satisfied with the buying experience and your new vehicle.

Best Car Buying Experience Ever!

by ronaldkbrink on 12/07/2015

Absolutely delightful experience from the time we walked into the showroom until driving out later that afternoon. Actually had our initial sales contact with the President of the dealership - unplanned but a neat way to do business. Follow up by the Sales team (Chris) and the financing team (Cathy) was also very well handled with no pressure, lots of good information provided, and very easy to do business with. Could not have asked for anything more from the three folks we dealt with on our purchase.

Don't like this service dept at all

by carolina15 on 10/23/2015

This is one of the worst Toyota service departments I’ve been to. So bad in fact that I’ll start driving further to go to another dealer. Service Adviser Lou Simmet embodies the qualities that make so many people reluctant to go to a dealer service department: he’s [non-permissible content removed], and does everything he can to inflate a bill regardless of whether or not a car needs the procedure he’s pushing. He uses strong arm tactics to try to separate the customer from their money. Consequently I’ve learned to avoid him, and therefore Toyota of North Charlotte, since he is their Service Manager.

Failure To Make It Right

by CEjohnson on 09/27/2015

On 9/22/2015 around 9:00 am, my wife called me from her employer advising advising our 2011 Toyota Venza was failing to start. She stated it was making a clicking noise. I inquired about the last service of the vehicle and she advised, the car had an oil change completed on 9/18/2015. Upon arrival, I notified a national towing company to assist with having the vehicle towed to the above noted dealership for service. It should be noted, this is the dealership the vehicle was newly purchased and all of the vehicle's maintenance has been performed by this dealership. To my surprise after opening the hood of the vehicle for the first time, it was revealed, that the battery was severely eroded with corroded battery terminals. Battery acid was all over the top with leakage present on the sides and all throughout the area as well as underneath. It was obvious, the battery acid had corroded the holder as well as the cables. Due to the extent of the damage and the dryness as well as the darkness of the liquid, it was established that some of the majority of the acid was more than 6 months old. Furthermore, the covers that reveals the cells was off and it was obvious that the top had been off for a few days based. This was also verified by the mechanic that was observing the damage. We also have pictures to validate the same. I would not allow anyone including the towing company touch the vehicle or components without notifying the above noted service department of the above noted dealership. I spoke with a service manager and explained the situation, he stated that he was going to speak with his supervisor. When he returned, he stated that I failed to have the battery service conducted several oil changes ago in 2014. It should be noted that this took place between the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014. I advised him, that the service person during that time advised that it was not a priority because the battery was in good condition, but that they normally service the battery during this time. I remember telling the service person since it was not a priority, i guess we can wait until it becomes a priority. He stated ok and moved on with the other items that needed care at that time. Needless to say, the battery service was never mentioned again. The service manager stated due to the age of the battery, since it is the originald battery, they would not pay for a battery but would provide free labor. I advised him, if he was going to fix the problem that they failed to notify us of the severe condition of the battery, how could he make this right. it would be fair to apologize for their part in this considering, they are providing service to keep the veicle safe. I explained to him, I've always believed in their service department and didn't think it was necessary to look behind their work or report to another dealership to provide service on their product. I also stated to him, the whole purpose of purchasing the vehicle was because I knew my family would be safe and that they would maintain the quality of their product. This vehicle was purchased for my wife and that safety for my family was paramount. I was hoping they would feel the same way. I further indicated, its the moral of the situation that was also important. Since the date that the battery service was mentioned by their employee, we have had more oil changes performed by them and it it would have been appropriate for them to follow up acknowledging that the battery service is now a priority. The battery service obviously should have been mentioned as a priority service on 9/18/2015, the date of the last oil change. However, again, they never mentioned it any further. I asked him, if his mother or wife or daughter was in this situation, what would he do and how would he want this to be resolved? He paused and became quiet, and I asked him again. He stated he would want this to be handled appropriately. I then stated to him, that this situation makes me wonder if the maintenance was ever performed or completed. Apparently they do not value their customers and again, SAFTEY is not a priority of the company. I ended the call with, I hope and pray that at some point, I will be able to have trust in their service department. Have a blessed day and he said you also. Note, UNTIL THEY MAKE THIS RIGHT, I WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I LOVE OUR 2011 TOYOTA VENZA. THE REAL PROBLEM IS AN OUTSTANDING COMPANY HAVING A SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFTEY OF THE CUSTOMER.

Great experience!

by trcox on 07/27/2015

It was a real pleasure buying my new Prius at Toyota of North Charlotte. The first people I met were the two people (over two nights) that help with all my questions about the car and both gave me a test drive so I was certain this was the car would be right for me. Greg Gatewood and Victoria Pham knew all the answers. My sales guy Steve Gregory was very up front with me and did not give me the typical car salesman pitch. He wanted me to be certain knowing all my options and ultimately worked to get me the best deal. Shaderria Terry helped me with very patient with me while signing my final paperwork so I knew exactly what each paper was for. Overall very satisfied with everyone there.

Service as one should expect

by embee4488 on 07/08/2015

Cathy Fraley, who handled the financial end of my purchase, and Aaron Gaymom, who was the salesman, were exceptional in their level of service when I bought my 2015 Venza. My brother did all the legwork for me as it pertained to finding the right car for me, and I flew up to Charlotte from Florida to pick up the car. As my flight was late, and it was July 4th, I expected a less than enthusiastic welcome, but I was really surprised! Both Aaron and Cathy were very thorough in their responsibilities as it pertained to making sure I knew exactly what I was paying for, the highlights of the car's capabilities, and Aaron was even willing to spend an hour orienting me to each of the features. Cathy had a thorough financial package ready for me, without one error, and made sure I understood everything. Aside from her professionalism, she was friendly, witty, obviously loved her job, and simply said, is a "people person". It was the best car buying experience I've had to date. I should also mention I love the Venza! I went from a full SUV to this Crossover model, and it's fantastic! I cannot recommend this dealership, and these wonderful people enough!

Very good experience buying my 2015 Tundra

by ogelnibor on 06/30/2015

Our experience with TONC was very nice compared to other dealerships we have visited in the past. We went to look at a used 2014 Tundra, but were beat to the punch by another couple. We had a good idea of what we were looking for in a new truck and our salesman, Edwin Ramirez, showed us a new two-wheel Tundra Crew Max that was very nice. A couple of spaces down was a 2015 Tundra that was a White 4x4 with the 5.7L Flex Fuel SR5 package and the Entune Audio Plus system. We couldn't pass it up. Samantha Mattson was great to work with on ironing out the deal, and Cathy Fraley was great with finalizing the paperwork and explaining the basic features of our new truck. In all, our experience was as relaxed as a major purchase such as a new vehicle could be.

2015 Toyota Tundra crew cab purchase

by jasonmckale on 12/22/2014

Cathy Fraley helped me out with my finalization of my paperwork for my purchase of a 2015 Toyota crew cab this past Saturday. She went above and beyond with helping me through it and with the preparation of my new vehicle. All of the staff there have helped me out when I've needed it. This includes anything from service work, test drives, questions, paperwork, etc. I always have my service work done here, and it goes smoothly. Be sure to speak with Eric in that department for all of your needs.

RUN, RUN, RUN

by MikeM123 on 12/07/2014

Let me start with, I own a company in Huntersville and will always try to buy at the local businesses. I had been warned about this dealership and would have listened but my wife had a busy month and we only had an hour to look at cars. We meet Matt the greeter at the dealership and he was great, he helped us and answered the questions that we asked. I had told Matt when I was there that I had been warned about giving my number to this dealership would lead to trouble. He was instructed to e-mail me for questions, since I am very busy during the day to talk on the phone. Less than 24 hours passed and the calls started, I asked the young lady on the other end to respect my privacy and not call me again. I was told I would not be bothered again, Matt did e-mail me the next day to ask if I had any questions, I told him that the dealership had called and that I told them not to call again, he apologized and said he would make sure it would not happen again. I told him that my wife would be back later in the week and we would be in to purchase a new Highlander limited platinum. The dealership started nothing less then a stalking of myself with 23 calls to my cell phone, almost every day they would call, sometimes 3 times a day, it was insane, I set them as a blocked call and it would sent them to my vm, then my voicemail filled up with messages from them, I called them and the woman asked for my phone number, at this point I was more scared to give it to her then to travel to west Africa during the Ebola scare. She said I am very sorry Mr. John Hickman we will remove you from our system, Mr Hickman who the hell is that? My name is Mike Mc! oh ok we will remove you from our list, ( heard that one before) Not trusting a word they say I felt it was time to talk to the general manager, but he was a bit to busy to talk to me. Not so fast there young lady, are you aware of the fines both with the state of North Carolina and the Federal Government for calling someone who has asked you to stop? They must have since Mr. Kramer was on the phone in just a few minutes. I did buy a Highlander, but not here, they have a broken process and can't see that, I have to get another car later this month and again it won't be here. Do yourself a favor, if you visit this dealership DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PHONE NUMBER, GIVE THEM THE NON-EMERGENCY NUMBER TO THE HUNTERSVILLE POLICE DEPT.

A great car buying experience. The salesmen were knowledgeable and didn't provide pressure to buy. Worked with Darryl N and Paul F on the test drives and purchase details. Then had a very efficient meeting with Kim Venney to complete all the paperwork. All were very pleasant and explained the process to our satisfaction. Great place to do business and we will look there first when we are ready to replace our car.
