Just Wrong.

Got my new 2023 Ford F-250 delivered from Cloninger Ford this past Friday (4/28/23). I paid 3k over sticker for a new truck but received a truck with 1500 miles on it. The general manager took it to the Outer Banks on a fishing trip prior to delivery. Shame on me for buying from Cloninger Ford.

Avoid this dealership

Service personnel are rude and are mechanical morons. Front office is clueless and cares about one thing- your money. After a botched job I was shown the door and left to clean the mess on my vehicle. Also wondering actually what parts were replaced on a $4800 job. Avoid this place if you don’t want to be ripped off.

Sold a Defective Car and Was never told about it-Denied help to fix issues

I was sold a defective car and during the two + years I had it never once received a notice of the defects and that there was a limited time to have the repairs done for free. I recent brought this car in for repairs and they said sorry but you are too late. I could keep going but I think that paints a perfect picture of the type of business they run. Lastly please note that if you have to have repairs buy the parts somewhere else because they will be 20-25% cheaper. Their own website has a LISTED lower price and they said I couldn't have that because I didn't get the parts on line. Wow! Sell a defective car and hide that information and then up charge the parts! What a classy sales tactic.

Made appointment to get oil and filter changed, tires rotated (dually all 6 tires) Arrived at dealership 15 minutes prior to appointment and spoke with a different service advisor than the person I made the disappointment with and told him I wanted the tires rotated and aired up to specs, and that the sensor valve stem on the drivers side rear outside tire was losing air and I had to keep airing it up. They took my vehicle on in, and 10 minutes later the same service advisor came and told me I need to have my fuel filters changed, he stated that he recommends to change them every 15,000 miles and I had 19,000 on my vehicle. He stated that he recommends it, not Ford. I ask how much it would cost and he stated $298.00 for labor and parts. I told him to go ahead and change them. They finally came 2.5 hours later and got me and said they had completed the work. I paid the bill,over $460.00. When I went to check my truck out (I always do a walk around any time I get anything done to it) I found black greasy fingerprints on the fenders (vehicle is White) on the chrome grill, on the chrome door handle and after I cleaned that all off, a young boy came out and ask if everything was ok, and I told him no. Then I wiped the steering wheel off with a white cloth and it became black from what was on the steering wheel and I showed it to the boy. The boy stated that he would get detailing to clean it and I told him to never mind that it is like this everytime I get anything done here. I then left and when I got about 8 miles away warning light came on saying ,Water in Fuel Drain Filter. I called the dealership and spoke with the orginal service advisor when I made the appointment and I told her what had happened. So she said to be there early the next morning which was Saturday. When I got home I checked the screen on the truck to see if the tires had lost any air, and at that time I realized they had never rotated or aired the tire up to factory specs. On Saturday I took the truck back and was there over 1.5 hours to get the problems corrected and they told me that to rotate the tires they had to take all 6 tires off and it would be $99.00, I told them I knew that because they had done it twice before. I told them just to air the tires up to specs. And fix the warning light. When the vehicle was done it brought out to me by the service manager, who said nothing. Nothing was said except the lady service advisor said they had it fixed up and they hope I would give them another chance to serve me later. Nothing else was said.When I left I noticed that they had fill my fuel tank up.

Sales and Finance were on the ball during the buying process, then I signed and it was all downhill from that point on. Could not get anyone to return my phone calls, the truck was delivered to my home, however I was told my copies of the paperwork would be mailed back to me and it was an act of Congress to get them (took 2 weeks and many phone calls). The truck had a moonroof malfunction in the first 5 days and the battery died and had to be replaced on day 7. Again, could not get anyone from the dealership to even return my calls once they heard I was having problems. Did not honor their word to "check on what they could do to help with moonroof or replacement battery" and I had to contact everyone listed on their website with an formal email to get my paperwork sent to me so I could find out that they were not going to help with a warranty, (2016 King Ranch 42k miles). Lastly and the latest in dealing with Cloninger is trying to get my permanent tags. I am at the 6 week mark waiting on my tags and had to contact the dealership 3 times before someone, "reluctantly" issued me another 30 day tag while we wait on the permanent ones. The issue was blamed on the state being backed up and slow, but I contacted DMV and they said the issue was with the dealership not processing the paperwork, which I believe is the case. All in all, this was the worst car buying experience, with some of the most unprofessional people. I would not conduct another transaction with Cloninger Ford of Hickory and would suggest anyone that is considering it, just go somewhere else and save yourself the misery of dealing with these unorganized and unprofessional operating staff. My suggestion to Cloninger is to honor commitments when you say you are checking on something or will return a phone call, then just be honest and say you will not do anything with repairs once the car is purchased. Then I could have saved myself a lot of time and frustration dealing with a team of people that seemed too timid or confused to help facilitate any sort of resolution. This includes the General Manager and all staff in the buying process.

Disappointing , Paid for vehicle check up. Seemed like they were more concerned with selling me an overpriced cabin air filter than checking my vehicle. The report showed they gave my wipers the green check. However, 2 days later I needed wipers when I was 300 miles away on a trip! During a rain storm I watched a long strip of wiper come off! They will have to re-earn my trust!

My experience with Cloninger Ford of Hickory

I was in need of a new car desperately. I was driving a older vehicle and wasn't in the best shape. Also, I felt I was paying too much for the vehicle I was driving. So, one day after work, I decided to head to Cloninger Ford of Hickory. I was approach and taken care of by Devron Cummings and also and other kind Ford staff. Before long, I was approved and got a brand new car within the same day! They let me test drive and make me feel important! I got the same payment for a nicer and newer ride! They made sure even though I had not the best of credit and still owe some of my vehicle that they will still do anything to get me in a new car as soon as possible. i feel very satisfied with my experience at Cloninger Ford and couldn't be happier! I couldn't had gotten a better deal! I would highly recommend the kind folk of Cloninger Ford if you shopping for a new vehicle!

Fantastic Dealership and Service

Spoke with Mariah who told me to come over and they'd get my car in. When I got there she was gracious and helped me check-in. They looked at my car and it needed a small repair, and it was so small, they did it and DID NOT CHARGE ME! Who does that any more? It was truly a pleasure and that's not something you usually hear about a service visit at a dealership. I recommend them highly and thank Mariah for her help and courtesy.

First Purchase of a Pre-Owned Car

It was with some trepidation that I contemplated purchasing a pre-owned car but decided to give it a try because I had enjoyed my 2010 Ford Fusion so much. Largely due to the professionalism and humanity of my salesperson, Mr. Jeff Phillips, the experience turned out to be both enjoyable and successful. Of course, I was worried about being pressured into buying something I didn't really want, or even cheated. Nothing like that happened. Jeff showed me the four Fusions I had found on line that I might like and then handled a deal for my trade-in that was ultimately fair. I am pleased with my 2016 Ford Fusion and am glad I came to Cloninger and was lucky enough that Jeff was asked to be my consultant. He is a real credit to the company and a fine person to deal with.
