Remote Sale

by Andrew on 03/14/2019

A few months ago, I was looking into purchasing a new CX-5 and decided to look into Romano after it was recommended from a family member. Romano was offering a medium-trim for the same price as an entry-level trim that I considered purchasing in Massachusetts where I live. I reached out and connected with Jon, who was helping me each day and educating me through the car purchasing/leasing process. He was not afraid to give me his opinion about my decisions and covered all of the bases which armed me to make informed decisions. Jon made it possible for myself to get most of the process done remotely and when I drove to Syracuse I had to do minimal things to complete the sale. My experience at Romano was positive to the point that I will be doing most of my "big maintenance" there as they respect their customer loyalty. This is a great location for anyone who does not know a lot about car-purchasing and needs a little "coaching", and I believe that they have a continuity of care that many dealerships may not have. Thanks guys!

Extremely UNSATISFIED

by Joe_s on 11/20/2018

I was offered a deal from a salesman and told we could sleep on the deal. I came back a day and a half later and was told the team would work on getting the deal that day, and that I would at least get a phone call back. No phone call back. Then called and spoke to the general manager Steven Abdul-Aziz, who stated that he could not do the deal and that it was our fault. When I told Steven how I did not agree with his business practice methods and that I was going to leave a review he said I was threatening him and his staff and then hung up.

Nima is the best salesperson ever!

by Shannon on 11/13/2018

I had such a great experience working with Nima and Sean to get my Mazda 3. We had a lot of ups and downs and things that happened that we didn’t plan but they worked hard and helped me beyond my expectations. I will definitely recommend them to everyone and I am sooo happy with my purchase! Nima was really great!

Thanks for yet again WONDERFUL experience!

by Kelly on 10/09/2018

Let me first start by saying that after a harrowing experience and totaling my CX5... one of my first stops was back at Romano Mazda to talk to Nima. Thank god for people like you my friend! You took the time that day, the next day and I think yet another day to go over all my options. You are by far the best there is! Thanks for putting me behind the wheel of my 4th Mazda. Best of all, thanks for “selling” me on this one! You are a fine man. Thanks again, Kelly

Sales and service review

by Krollfamily on 11/11/2016

I highly recommend Romano Mazda. I have been a customer of the Romano family for approximately 15 years. We bought our first chevy with Romano. Then our second. We have changed from chevy to mazda over the years. In fact now we have 4 vehicles from Mazda. I have always found the salesperson(s) informative and business like. The service department was always nice and informative. Never had a problem with anyone at Romano mazda. A very nice group of people and enjoy doing business with them.

2nd Car deal experience

by Jcruiser23 on 11/07/2016

I was just in right before Halloween looking to finance a Mazda. I had previously leased a Mazda through the same dealership. Nima helped me both times. He's a great salesman who did his best to get me a great deal for what I really wanted. I plan on driving this car for a long, long time, but I will definitely recommend friends and family to go see Nima for their automobile needs. I will be back for my routine services and maintainence visits. Thank you Romano Mazda in Syracuse, and thank you Nima for being so fantastic!

Sales Associate Great / General Manager Inappropriate

by machupichu on 10/19/2016

My rating is based on my experience with General Manager Steve. Sales Associate Matt was wonderful. I am in the market for a mid-size sedan. This is my first car purchase in 10 years. I had my mind set on a Camry, had some offers from one Toyota dealership, and was in talks with another, when I decided to give Mazda a try on Monday, October 17. I test drove a new 2016 M6 ($24,140 ) and a certified used 2016 M6 ($20,995). I explained that I originally had a budget of $18,000 for a used car, but that so far I loved the M6. This was my first time ever in one. Sales Associate Matt - did a great job of working with me - and I made it clear that I would go home to think about my options. I told him that I would not mind buying either of those cars if they could come down on the price. This was when the regional manager Steve came in. Typically - he was someone who tried to use charm - and a rather overbearing tactic while talking to me - but not listening. He kept trying to get me to apply for the Mazda credit - although I repeatedly told him that I did not need to. After about 20 minutes of going around on the numbers - he left - telling Matt to have me fill out a credit application. Matt came back with one - and I told him that I was not doing that; I was satisfied with the terms of the loan I had gotten from my credit union. I did loved the M6 - but as I had been looking at the Camry - I had not done any serious comparison shopping on it. I explained this to Matt - who made it clear that both of those cars could be sold while I made up my mind. He suggested that I leave a $500 REFUNDABLE deposit on at least one of them to hold until the next day. I was leery - and repeatedly asked him if I would absolutely get my money back if I decided not to buy one of those cars. He assured me I would. I returned the next day wanting to test the stereo systems - which I did not have a chance to do the night before. I have a new phone and have no music on it. The new car has the 11 Bose speaker setup. Matt and I test drove the used car again while listening to Chuck Mangione and Sade and laughing and honestly talking. Then we sat in the new one doing the same. I was still undecided if only because I was so far away from my initial budget, BUT I loved the M6. I told him that I had never purchased a used car and had some concerns about that - and I did love the moon roof of the new car, but the price..... I told him that I needed one more day to decide. He asked that we finish the conversation inside. He repeatedly asked me what I wanted - and I said - if Steve the General Manager would come down $1,000 off either car, I would buy it tonight -otherwise - I just needed to do some comparative shopping to see what typical prices were. If Romano had the best deals - I would buy from them - but if not - I would go elsewhere. I was frank with him at all points of our interactions. I asked about the Mazda 3 - which is cheaper - but he said he thought I would not be happy in one - that the M6 was a much better car. I repeatedly said that I hope I was not putting him in a bad situation trying to negotiate with Steve - and he did say that he did not think Steve would give me a deal. I told him that it was worth a shot. He kept telling me the he understood my need to “win.” I said - “It is not about winning - I want to make an informed decision - and I do not want to buy a car - get home just to find out that I could have gotten it for $1500 less.” He told me that the cars were already aggressively priced. That was fine - but I wanted to find out for myself. He went to talk to Steve - who then came into Matt's office - and was “smooth” if you know what I mean. That did not last long. I explained to Steve that I needed the extra day because I did not have time to do research the night before and earlier that day. I said if I did not find a better deal - I would decide on either car the next day. What Steve did not understand wast that I never said I would not buy either car - I said I needed to do my research. I had already told Matt that I would make a decision the next day. But for some reason - they both needed me to make a decision THEN - which made me wonder if they knew there were better options out there. I even told Matt that because I appreciated his work with me, that I would not buy elsewhere just to save a few hundred $, but if I could save a grand or so - I would go with that option. I repeated my request for a $1,000 reduction in price. He made it clear that he would not make that deal. I thanked Matt and him for their time - and Matt for all that he had taught me about the cars. I was disappointed - but not angry. I told Steve that it was not a problem - since I am was trying to save money, while they were trying to make money. I understood that. This conversation should have been over. But he would not let it go. Steve started in with the emotional manipulation and accusations. "Why would you do this to us?" Then - "Why would you waste your time and this man's time too then not buy a car?” "For someone with all of these degrees, why are you so unreasonable?" At that point - I became angry - I told him that I did not like the way he was talking to me, and it was best that I go. "You put a deposit on a car and we expected you to buy it!" I was done - I said - "What do you mean I put a deposit on it? I repeatedly asked Matt if I could get my money back if I did not buy the car. He assured me that it was just to hold it while I made up my mind! I will make sure to write about this experience on social media." He responded with "What, are you threatening me?" - That was my cue to leave! Something in his demeanor and those words were very unnerving to this woman! He told Matt to go get my check, but as I waited STEVE himself brought it to me with a snide comment - "Just to continue our good customer service - we did not even deposit your check" and he walked off. Talking to his back, I responded - "You had no RIGHT to deposit my check." Matt - I could tell was in an awkward situation. Again - I thanked him. He was still cordial to me - and I said - "I am sorry that you work for such [non-permissible content removed]," and I left. Steve tried to use some strong-arm tactics against me and became attacking when I would not fold. He refused to listen to me - even when I repeatedly said I did not want to apply for credit with Mazda; no matter how much I told him that I just wanted to do some more research, he could not hear that. I had not said no to the deal; HE said no, and then got upset when I graciously accepted his no. That made no sense to me. Buying a car is a process - it takes longer for some than for others. It is as simple as that. Matt did the job for which he is paid to do - I wanted to make sure I made an informed decision. Steve was the only person being unreasonable and inappropriate! This should not have ended this way!

Great experience

by Victory1987 on 09/29/2016

I purchased my new Mazda from Zak at Romano. I had a really nice experience. He was so helpful and I never felt like I had to rush to make a choice. I really wanted to get something with a little bit more options, it was just out of my price range a little too much. Zak was totally understanding though, and helped me get the most out of my purchase and I am so glad I had him to work with because I think a lot of times salesmen are just in it for themselves. Zak really made a true effort to make sure I was going to be happy with my car, and I can't say enough good things about him! Thank you!!

Awesome Dealership*Awesome Sales*Awesome Experience

by nparky71 on 08/11/2016

I cannot say enough good things about this dealership. I chose Romano because another dealership wouldn't deal fairly with my trade in. I was put in contact with Daniel and he was very knowledgeable and professional. I wanted a Mazda 3i GT and they had many to choose from. Daniel was very patient with my questions and went out of his way to make sure I was getting everything I wanted in my new car. I ended up getting what I wanted, they gave me double for my trade in and dropped the price of the new car to meet the payments that I wanted to be at. I am so happy with my new car, and so happy with the sales and service at Romano. I am recommending this dealership to anyone who is looking for a Mazda or any other used car. The sales and service and management are #1 in my book and I will be back when I am ready for another car. Thank you Romano Mazda and Daniel...I had my best experience ever with a dealership thanks to you.

Awesome experience

by BonitaNaranja on 06/30/2016

I just have to say, Zak is awesome. I am so glad I had him to work with! He was so helpful and knowledgeable, so great with everything! We looked at a few different options and he helped me so much, he was so patient! I never once felt pressured, or rushed, and he was always so nice! He genuinely cared about me, and getting me what I wanted to have in a vehicle. He had no problem taking the time to make sure I had all the info I needed to make my decision. In the end, I went with the Mazda 3, and it has everything I wanted, AND we stayed in my budget, and I love it! Couldn't be happier!

1st time Romano buyer

by zoomzoomMiata on 06/25/2016

Wanted a CX5, talked to Jon about the best time to get out of a Nissan lease. He followed it about 3 months and contacted me when he thought would be the best time for me, not him. You don't see that very often. Very satisfied with the car and service so far.Plan on coming back for my wife's first Mazda purchase in the spring. Jon's the man!!

Another great experience with Zak !!

by Blvckharvest on 06/13/2016

This is my second Mazda I've gotten through Zak Hourigan. I was really close to not being able to get another car because one thing after another kept falling through on my end, but did everything possible to make sure I was leaving with the car of my dreams. Ive talked to a few different car dealers in the past and they all seemed the same and only cared about getting your money. Zak is always extremely friendly and makes me feel at home. Never again going to anyone else for a car. Forever greatful for everything he did for me. (: -Dominique
