BAIT AND SWITCH!

by Nick on 02/14/2023

I have been looking for months for a 2021 Trackhawk in maroon, finally found one with the options I wanted (Laguna leather, 19 speaker sound sound system, and most of all, the trailer hitch package). I called about a week ago and was sent the window sticker for the jeep, today 2/11/23 I called 21 century auto group at 11:12am, a woman named Linda answered the phone, I gave her the last four digits of the VIN number, she confirmed that the vehicle is still there, and for sale, once, confirming the vehicle is there, I asked for a salesperson, she said “I can help”, the first question that I asked her was if they would wholesale the vehicle… she told me no they do not do that, I proceeded to ask her if they would sell it to a business, she said yes and asked me about financing. I told her that I am a cash buyer, I then asked if the price was negotiable, she told me “yes but we only make deals in the showroom” so I them confirmed the vehicle was there again, I told her that I was from a few hours away and I would be coming down with a dealer plate and a check. I drove over and hour, then took a train for over 2 hours, then a $30 Uber to the dealership. When I arrived I had to ask someone for a salesperson. I was introduced to Jay, I told him I came from Massachusetts. I gave him the info on the Trackhawk and he wrote down some info then went to get the key, a few minutes later he came back and said that the vehicle was sold and here’s some other options on Trackhawks. I explained to him that I literally called someone around 11 today and confirmed that this vehicle was here and that I would be coming with a check to buy it today. He said that they sold like 15 cars that day, he said that a wholesaler bought the jeep and a few other cars! Now of course I was highly upset, I told him I called and that was the very first question I asked after confirming the vehicle was still there. Jay said “let me check with the manager, maybe we have another one coming in” he came back and had nothing, he then tried to show me multiple other Trackhawks, I explained I only want a maroon one, and there is no point to look at other colors. The manager never came over to say anything to me, they never offered anything but to call me if they get another maroon one in. Between the 2 train rides, Ubers and fuel, it was about $300 all for nothing, I was never even offered a ride back to the train station. Knowing my situation, they should have tried to do something to make it right!

Do not go here! Bait and Switch

by Anon on 05/29/2020

I called about a specific vehicle for a great price. They confirmed the availability of the car and I scheduled to come see it the next day. I came in and the salesperson began his reign of terror. As soon as I mentioned the car, the salesperson mentioned that the car was "driven by someone in the hood" and "failed their inspection". He continued on by bringing me to a car that was $12k over the price range I was looking for. The salesperson gave me the price of $28k for the car and insisted it was a steal because of the low mileage. Fast forward, I left the dealership and gave it all some thought. As I reflected, I noticed that I had the carfax of the original car I inquired about which was 100% clean. I called the dealership back and they told me that the car was sold in the morning before I reached there. The person on the phone mentioned a similar model listed for 25k. Turns out, it was the same car that the salesperson tried to sell me for 28k. All in all, don't waste time going here, very unprofessional.

Not a good experience buying car at [non-permissible content removed]

by lenf on 12/22/2018

They advertise one price on internet but when at the dealership it was quoted by $2K more. Also, most of the cars are advertised with the options that not true. For example: the car I was interested in was advertised with sunroof and navigation system. But none of these true. Sales person was not knowledgeable and had no idea what is in stock. Dealership itself is very suspicions.

false advertising bad customer service

by nicolas on 06/13/2018

I do not recommend to visit this dealership. False advertising and description of vehicles in carfax.com and verbally. Spoke with John on the phone about a vehicle I was interested in buying cash. Since I live two hours from location I asked the right questions before I went there, .... Is it something wrong with vehicle?, John stated no! When I got to dealership I was helped by a salesperson who told me immediately something was wrong with that particular vehicle, and tried to sell me other double the price....Usual strategy from sales persons. After, my wife and I showed frustration, I was attended by the man who sweeps the floors "James". .....So this dealership sends the "Sweep man" to resolve issues......You wonder!!! James was very disrespectful, rude and nasty towards my wife and I and did not care for customer service. We took our business somewhere else. Do not buy from this dealership!!

Great!

by Mrparollie on 05/14/2018

I was super afraid after reading some opinions here about them, but took the risk. I drove from queens for a ride I found on internet. Called front desk to make sure that car is there. Everything perfect. Car was there, price same as they offered on internet. Customer service was nice, treated me with high standard. Desk stations are located between the cars, interesting idea. Financing took a while, but was worth it tho. Got guaranty and insurance. So far so good!

Classic, Shameless switch and bait

by DhanyRod on 04/24/2018

Classic bait and switch, done to a shameless level. They advertise a car significantly under priced, which is still available on their site: http://www.21centuryautogroup.com/used.cfm#sort VIN number: WBA8Z5C54FGS36564, they called me twice verifying the car's availability (11:03 am from [contact info removed] and 4:29 pm from [contact info removed]), and once there they follow a script: "The car has an issue, still under the manufacturer's warranty, we had to take it for service, but let us show you what we do have available". I have evidence of the car listing, of the calls. They did not show intent of selling me the advertised car. The car advertised is NOT available for purchase. This is their MO. False advertisement, switch and bait scheme.

FAKE, stay away. Scam!!!

by dan2nice on 02/19/2018

I hope this helps. I didn't test drive it because it doesn't exist. This dealer posted a car that doesn't exist. The person who picks up the phone lied and told me they have it. It felt like this was a a fishing scam....to get you there to see other cars that are nothing like the deal posted. Beware !!!!! Waiting on a call back to get explanation. If this isn't removed, you know they are a shady and you should stay away.... The dealers name was 21st Century Auto Group in Springfield NJ. P.S, staff was nice. This has nothing to do with the staff in the office.

Showed up, place is empty but everyone sitting around doing nothing. Finally salesman comes over, shows me the computer and says is this the car you came to see, UH....YES.... "Oh the owners wife came by and took it out", really, 300 cars and she took that one in the last hour?? [non-permissible content removed], they just want to get you in the door, disrespectful of peoples time. Confirmed 3 times, plus multiple emails from Yunis the week prior. Told that its a call center that answers the phones???? and they don't actually know if car is there... but I also spoke to sales who assured me car was available to be seen. SAVE YOUR TIME AND DO NOT GO THERE.

2014 Maserati

by Hang_lin on 02/04/2018

Bad experience with this dealership. Called yesterday asked them about the 2014 Maserati s q4 black with red interior(ZAM57RTA3E1095337) here is the vin number Incase anyone going up there for this car. They told me they have the car and ask me if I can set up appointment for test drive. So I called again today to making sure if they still have the car and talked to (John)at 2:30pm and confirm wit them to set up an appointment at 5:30 for test drive . So I drove almost 3 hr from Pennsylvania to their location at 305 us22 Springfield . After I got there I went to front desk and told them I had appointment with John to test drive the car and they send me to a salesman I forgot his name a African salesperson his desk was closed to the restroom , as soon u go in the showroom the very end of the desk on the right . So I gave him my drive license and told him what I was looking for. He wrote down my information and walked away the desk and came back after 5 min and told me, sorry we don’t have the car here. We having some problem with the car so we have to send it back to the auction. I was like I just drove almost 3 hours and just come here to check out the car that I was looking for and now u told me u guy just send it back to the auction in the morning ? Why not check ur inventory first when I called telling u guys I’m coming up for a test drive. He was like. Sorry he probably didn’t check. But we do have other Maserati that u can check it out. He show me the white one that they just got, I ask him can I test drive the car. He said no we can’t. Hasn’t go into the shop yet for inspection , I was like ok cool I get that. Safety first, how about the one in the showroom. Can I test drive this ? He said it’s going to be difficult for us to remove the car in the show room, there was one right in front of the front door all he need to do is remove the car that was blocking the garage,Instead of that he just told me no we can’t do that. U have to make a appointment for a test drive and I told him that’s why I called before I heading up here ,And I ask him do you have anything outside of showroom that u guys can let me test drive the car ,what about the other Maserati u had in the front of the front lots? He said. Oh that one hasn’t go thro the shop yet for inspection. I’m thinking like if that car didn’t go thro the shop why put in the front porch to show to the customer. Finally I gave up and left the place. Never want to come back anymore . Not recommended

Great deal on 2011 Cadillac SRX

by C_Tyson on 10/18/2017

I went in thinking they would try to game me but nothing could be farther from the truth. Justice the sales rep. is a highly professional no nonsense but pleasant and very knowledgeable. I got the car at the internet listed price which is several thousands below book value and what comparable 2011 SRX are selling for today and I should know I've spent several hours a day over the last 2 weeks searching SRX listing on edmunds, car gurus, auto trader, cars.com,carmax and dozens of local dealer in a 50 mile radius.

Total [non-permissible content removed]

by Michael on 10/13/2017

Total [non-permissible content removed]!!  Don't ever go there. We drove 4 1/2 hours to see a car they claimed to have. All of the sudden when we showed up it was "sent back to the auction" because it had some issues. I even confirmed by phone that it was still there. Yunis on the phone lied to me about it being there and it was supposedly in perfect shape. Diego the manager was no better. He just tried to sell us something else.  It's been 5 days since we were there, and that same car is still listed for sale on their website. I called again to inquire about it and they said it was still for sale. They clearly just do this to lure people into the dealership and sell them something else. I knew the price was too good to be true. Beware of their internet rebates that they don't tell you about until your ready to buy. It adds almost $2500 to the cost of the car.   I have never had a worse experience. I'll be calling the BBB also. Total [non-permissible content removed]!!!!! Stay away!!!!!

Bait and Switch, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME

by hofpower on 09/14/2017

If there is a great price on a listing, guarenteed the car will be "sold" when you get there. Confirmed with Yunis online sales rep my appointment for 7PM @ 3PM and when I arrived after 2 hours driving, the 2010 gold Sequoia had been "sold" that morning, but they had another one on the lot for only $10K more. They told me Yunis doesn't get the updated list until the following day...seriously they want me to believe that?

BEWARE! ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE TRUE

by Ginamagz on 04/06/2017

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!! If I could give it 0 stars I would. I'm in the market for a very specific make, model, and trim(Honda Civic EXL). So knowing how specific my request is I did all my research and leg work to locate this exact type of car. Their website had the exact one I was looking for listed, so I called to confirm that it was available (even referenced the stock number) and confirmed the price. The receptionist, Yunis confirmed both for me and set me up for an appointment that same day. Great, so I hopped in the car and told them I would be there in 2 hours since it's far from where i live. Upon arrival I was greeted by a salesperson and asked what I was there for, I told him what I told Yunis and showed him the listing and said he had to check if it was still here..... Right then and there I should have left, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. He comes back and says they don't have that car (SERIOUSLY?!? I called 2 hours ago and it was confirmed by their own employee that they had it) but he would show me a few others that were similar. He tried showing me the base model of a honda civic, then he showed me one that didn't even have seats in it. Then when I turned both down he tried talking me into luxury brands or sport models, neither I wanted any part of. I told him I didn't come to browse, I had a specific car in mind and I wanted to see that car. He told me that Yunis had made a mistake when she said it was here. He also told me that she doesn't look at the database, she goes off the website and that doesn't update right away, but honestly if someones sole job is to schedule showings for cars don't you think they would reference the most up to date and accurate database?! Clearly they don't!! And if were being really honest how many cars do you sell in a 24 hour period that you can't keep track of it to update the inventory. I was there for over 2 hours and I didn't see one sold, so it's just complete incompetency and dishonesty. I truly believe that they never had the car, they just lied to me to get me in so they could manipulate me into another car they were trying to get rid of. At one point the manager came over to try to help, and again I was made to feel like I was the bad guy for not willing to compromise on what I wanted. He said "so it has to be a honda civic exl, you're not willing to buy another car" ANOTHER CAR?? NO WAY!!! I DID MY RESEARCH AND DUE DILIGENCE, I know what I want and hell no I'm not willing to settle for whatever crappy car you're trying to pawn off on me. Never I have I ever left a place feeling so horrible. The people are manipulative and condescending, and don't care about the customers. They had no problem lying to me. I straight up told them I didn't want to make the drive if they didn't have that exact car, and I was assured they did. So all in all I wasted over 6 hours of my day, 4 hours of driving and 2 horrible hours in the dealership, plus the $25 I wasted on tolls. This is the worst car dealership never will I ever give them my business, and the fact that they are still in business with their practices is flabbergasting and appalling . CONSUMERS BEWARE!!!!

2013 Honda Civic LX -Horrible and Pathetic Customer experience

by PinakiDash on 01/31/2017

I had purchased a Honda Civic 2013 LX model car from this dealer just a month back(17th Dec 2016). I was very happy with the dealer and provided my reviews in best possible way in Google and DealerRating.com. Just after 20 days, I faced one issue while starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taking time to start and it looked like an issue with the battery. I informed this to the concerned Sales person Mr.Justice when I collected my permanent number plate(13th January 2017). I also requested for a service check up of my vehicle as I faced the above issue. Mr. Justice told me that he would set up the appointment and I would be getting a call from the dealer regarding this. Nobody contacted me after this. On 24th January 28, 2017, unfortunately the vehicle didn't start for almost 45 minutes and I had to call up my insurance company where they sent a mechanic to do a jumpstart. I informed this to the dealer and my salesperson Mr. Justice. Meanwhile, I showed the battery to Autozone and Goodyear auto service, where both of them advised that battery is charging 100 percent but it'™s condition is BAD and needs a replacement. I tried reaching to a Service manager for almost 2 days and finally on 26th Jan I was able to speak to Mr.Joseph (Service Manager). He heard the matter and informed that this matter is being discussed with their General Manager and he would get back to me shortly but never did. Worried for my vehicle'™s condition on 27th January, finally I went to the showroom as anyone from the dealer did not revert back. They inspected the vehicle and now they are telling they will give the battery but I need to pay for the deductible (battery cost is around 130 and I need to pay around 80 dollar). The worse service from this dealer is they make you run a lot for minor things, never call back even for any of your concerns. They keep saying we would talk to our manager and discuss the matter but they never revert. None of your complaints are recorded so the same matter needs to be explained from the beginning all the time to every new person. It is just a month since I bought the vehicle from the dealer(drove only 1200 miles) with a price more than 12K and I faced this issue with the battery within 20 days. The 2 month warranty from the dealer is still valid for my vehicle and I have signed the lemon law document as well with the dealer. I informed about the issue immediately to the dealer but did not get any proper response so far even after numerous follow ups from my side. Finally they are ready to replace the battery with deductible from my pocket(which is more than 60 percent of the battery cost) which is not at all acceptable to me. My experience so far in this matter is really bad and I can clearly say œDon't expect any kind of help from this dealer once you purchased the vehicle from them even when you are under the warranty. They don'™t have the courtesy to provide a call back too . It was horrible and pathetic customer experience for me in last 4 days. Their behavior is not at all courteous towards a customer who has already purchased a vehicle from them. Their service is really terrible and I would literally give a 0 star. Worst dealer!!!!

How can the state of NJ let Century 21 be in business

by pcollipp on 01/18/2017

I recently bought a car from Century 21 Auto Group in NJ and had an absolutely horrible experience. 1st they are completely misleading and put ridiculously low prices online to sucker you into going in. I drove over 3 hours after calling to confirm the price on the phone and when I got there it was $4000 more because of some BS about military discounts and travel discounts etc.. When I told them I was in the military and qualified for all their discounts they still charged me $16,500 for a car that was advertised for $12,500 on their website. I agreed to purchase the car under the condition they fixed the tire sensors and cleaned up the inside. (Which was absolute dirty). I put $8000 down and agreed to come back in 2 days to get the car when everything was done. The next day I got a call from my salesman Issac who said they were going to sell the car to someone else if I didn’t come back that day to get it… Keep in mind I put $8000 cash down on the car and it was less then 24 hours later. I reminded him of our previous agreement and went back the following day to get the car. I got to the dealership at 8pm expecting to sign some paperwork and drive away in my new car. Only one problem, when I was signing the paperwork they refused to tell me how much the purchase prices of the car was. They kept asking how much I wanted my monthly payments to be. When I finally got the paperwork it had the cars purchase price at $22,500!!! When I confronted them they said that was the agreed price. After getting my sales guy Issac involed and he seemed to lose his mind and forget everything we spoke about and agreed on. I was so pissed off I told them I wanted my money back and was leaving. At that point they said “What money” as if they were going to try to steel my $8000. And begged me to make a deal. After arguing about “Discounts” and bank financing charges we agreed on $16,800 which was still $300 above the previously agreed price. But, I was so tired at this point and just wanted to leave with the car. When I got back to signing the paperwork they were visually pissed off at me, (I guess because I didn’t let them screw me for an extra $6000) and we began going over the paper work again. This time they had the purchase price at $17,800… WTF! And when I caught it they quickly apologized and said it was there fault and changed it to $16,800. I guess they have gotten away with that before. When I finally got in the car it was almost 1am. I drove off the lot and within 15 min the tire sensor light and the check engine light came on. I tried calling the immediately and got no response. I called 40 times the following day and kept getting pushed off by the answering service and promised they would call back. (This became a common theme with them. They never called me back. EVER….) I eventually took my car in Monday to talk with someone. First they tried saying they didn’t agree to fix anything until I showed them the proof and then they reluctantly agreed. Over the next 4 weeks they had me drive back and forth 3 hours 3 times to pick up a car that they said was “fixed” only to have the check engine light and tire light come back on. I finally took it to a Mercedes Benz Dealership and they give me a bill for $8,600 to fix everything that was wrong with the car. I would love to elaborate more but my blood pressure is preventing me from continuing. The people at Century 21 Auto Group are the most dishonest, unethical, and unmoral people I have ever worked with in my entire life. I am surprised that so many people exist on this planet with their values, (let alone in one dealership). Over the months trying to get my car fixed and get my money back, none of them were of any help or any sympathy. Again, there is a lot more to this story including : they never registered my car or gave me a license plate, the warranty I spent another $4000 on from Century 21 didn’t cover any of the $13,300 in repairs, I canceled their “Oil Change” service contract within the 30 days as the contract said and not only didn’t get a refund but never even got a response! I am currently pending lawsuit with Century 21 Auto Group and wanted to save anyone else the agony I have been though dealing with them. They have been sued successfully many times before and even sued by the state of NJ for false scam business practices. I can’t believe they are still aloud to be in business. If anyone is considering buying a car from Century 21 Auto Group I am happy to share my experience with you. Please comment on this post or send me an email [contact information removed] and I’ll walk you though the experience you will have with them.

I received a great deal here

by Valle8930 on 12/02/2016

I've been in the market for a new benz for about 2 months now. Looking for the best price obviously and I found a few at this dealer. I decided to stop in and take a look at a few they had online. I expected the usual bait and switch but was supririze to find all 3 cars in the showroom ( amazing since it was freezing out). I test drive 2 and feel in love with a nice silver one. Had great experience and help from John and I really couldn't ask for more.

Horrible Experience

by bmw7141 on 12/02/2016

There is a reason this dealership has 100% negative feedback from the Better Business Bureau. Do your homework! Wish I did. The only saving grace I had was that Joe Dennis did what he could to get our car fixed and to pass inspection. Joe Dennis is the only one there who actually cares. Oscar the so called manager would not return a phone call or an email. If you have any problems do not expect any help, unless you are lucky enough to get Joe Dennis to assist. I would NOT ever recommend this dealership and I would stay far away.
