When I needed to buy a new vehicle, I definitely wanted a Honda. I had heard of their great reliability and knew they were popular cars. However, I was not happy with the sales person I encountered and have had some difficulties with the "certified" used car that I've purchased. First, I felt that the sales person was not honest with me in pressuring me to buy and telling me that someone else was looking to buy the car "right now." He also was not able to correctly demonstrate features of the car to me. As far as the vehicle was concerned, the only option that I paid extra for was a remote starter which was very important to me. However, I have had a few problems with that. First, the directions for using it were incorrect and I had to go back to the dealer to find out the correct way to use it. The directions said you had to press it once, when it was really three times. Then, it often would not start. Eventually, they did replace it for free and it starts about 90% of the time. However, when it doesn't start, the car is in a stalled position and drains the battery. The batter has gone dead on me twice because it didn't start. Now I have to open the door of the house and listen for it to start, or make sure that I'm going out to it right away, least I have a dead batter. This is a concern that I shouldn't have and never had with my Chevy van. Sometimes I am not so close to the car that I would be able to hear if it starts or not. This does not give me the peace of mind that I would expect. When I first purchased the car, I also had problems with a tire which they eventually fixed, but it took me a few trips to the dealership. Just after purchasing the car, the drivers side windshield wiper flew off as I was driving down the road. I can understand that they cannot control such a thing at the dealership, but when I took it in fully expecting them to make it right, one of the workers in the service department insinuated that it was my fault and that I had damaged the wiper. Although Honda has tried to make things right with these different scenarios, they have involved A LOT of my time and many trips to the dealership. Thank God it's not too far away. Overall, I just haven't had the peace of mind that I had hoped for.
