Not your typical car buying experience

Wow what a great experience - I research a car to death before I am ready to buy. I know roughly what the dealer cost is, incentives, rebates, etc... I know the car I want, the features, check the industry reviews and then the consumer reviews, safety ratings, insurance..... I love going through this process. Then comes the painful part, finding a dealer who will be straight and will respect my time and the fact that I am spending a boatload of money and want to do it right. Its "not" about a monthly payment. The first dealership (NOT Apple Ford) I contacted was near my work - they said they had the car I wanted (2014 Focus Titanium with Sport Handling Package) so I agreed to meet over the lunch hour, I went in to look it over and test drive it. Long story short, the Sport Handling package was on the showroom floor so couldn't take it out, offered me about 2000.00 less than what I should receive for a trade, and priced the Focus higher than what I knew I could get it for - I wound up driving the standard Titanium and was considering it since I didn't want to deal with swapping my summer tires for winter tires every change of season. Tried to leave but he wanted to sell me a car over lunch, without my wife there and a car I wasn't sure I even wanted - his words "what will it take to sell you the car today?" Don't do this folks.... I ended up getting a lot of calls emails etc... dealers wanted me to come for a test drive but didn't have the sport handling equipped car to drive, offered pricing for a sedan vs hatchback, etc... I finally sent an email to Apple Ford and was surprised. That evening I got an email with photo's and description of the car I wanted, equipped as I asked and in the color I requested. They posted what they termed one low price - I thought it was a mistake or gimmick - it was almost exactly the price I was expecting to pay. When I got there to see the car the good service continued. Scott was set up to show me the car. Took me out for a test drive, looked at my trade and put the numbers together. He showed me how they arrived at my trade offer (same method I used and it was 2000.00 higher than the first dealer). I was waiting for the hard sell - it never came. He suggested I come back with my wife the following day to allow us time to discuss it and not feel hurried. We did just that. We came back the next day after spending the evening discussing the decision. We sat down and did the deal never feeling pressured, very pleasant. We drove away "feeling good" about our purchase - it was not about a "monthly payment" I love the car and would recommend this dealership to anyone who is looking for a fair deal without all the hype and pressure.
