Disappointment and Deception

Disappointing experience with online sales rep, sales associate, and sales manager. We spoke with the online sales rep three times today over the phone regarding the price of a vehicle and were told if we brought the listing to the dealership found on CarGurus that the “price would be honored”. After driving 75-minutes to the dealership we were told that individual we spoke with over the phone was the “online sales rep” and that another sales rep would be assisting us. The sales rep printed a sales quote to which we mentioned the previous conversation with the online sales rep whom stated the price that would be honored (about $1800 under MSRP). The other sales rep stated he would need to ask his manager to pull up the conversation with online sales rep to determine if this price was quoted. After a moment the sales manager inquired again about the price we were quoted, requested to see the CarGurus listing, and explained that he cannot sell the vehicle at that price and provided brief education about how CarGurus is a “third party site” and that the price could not be honored unless it was on the dealership’s website. The manager stated he wanted to work with us and offered us approximately $1000 off the MSRP. Despite whether CarGurus listing was accurate or not in regards to pricing, the sales manager and sales associate did not own the misrepresentation of their vehicle pricing by their online sales rep. Extremely disappointed in the lack of ownership and deception by this dealership. Additionally this dealership was deceptive in listing of fees; as the online sales rep listed additional fees over the phone the “sales commission” fee of $150 was not mentioned but was listed on both quotes received at the dealership. Ultimately we walked away because our only encounters with this dealership and their staff were accompanied with deception and misrepresentation.

They made the process easy: explaining the car we were interested in, offered good pricing up front (car, trade-in, loan) and made the closing process smooth. My Honda leasing experience at Cambridge Honda was pleasantly easy. Car buying can be notoriously stressful. There was no pressure, extensive information and clear bottom line, "walk out the door" pricing. My sales person, Rubin Calderone, was easy to work with and more than happy to address all my questions and concerns. After finalizing the negotiated price, my experience with Marat Alavarian in finance was also exceptionally easy. Overall, the leasing of my new CRV was clearly defined, easy to navigate and stressless. I woiuld reccomend Cambridge Honda to anyone looking to purchase a new vehicle. JP Schmitt

I've been to other dealers with relatively low pressure sales, but Honda was close to no pressure sales as you can be, service was great, knowledgeable, and attentive. I probably ended up going for some extras, but never pressured towards anything.

I started a lease for a Honda CR-V just a week ago with this dealer. Shiva was my main contact and very helpful all along the process, we had a very good communication and he answered all of my questions very timely. The only thing I regret is that they don't have a professional email meaning that you don't get "out of office" replies when people are out on holiday for example but the standard replies and can give you information.

I bought my first car from Cambridge Honda last month after the place was recommended to me by a friend.I had considered buying from private sellers, but my experience at Cambridge Honda makes me glad I didn't! My salesperson, Rebecca Rideout, handled everything from beginning to end. She was honest and upfront, so we didn't waste time on models that were outside my price range, and we got to test-driving quickly. Negotiation of the price was brief and straightforward. She gave me all the attention I needed without ever pressuring me. She helped me get the best deal on car insurance, which is necessary for buying a car in Massachusetts it's not an easy process either! and of course the dealership handled all the paperwork. Rebecca Rideout drove me to a mechanic so I could get a pre-purchase inspection done, and even bought me a slice of pizza because we were both hungry after spending all day on the sale. A shuttle brought me to and from the bank where I could get a cashier's check. Rebecca Rideout gave me her contact info in case I needed it because I had to come back the next day for a state inspection. The state inspection at Cambridge Honda took less time than expected (and I got a complimentary donut and coffee while I waited). All in all, I got quite a fair deal from Honda. And perhaps just as important (especially for me, since I was buying my first car), I got a whole day of service and help so that I could be on the road with peace of mind the very next day!

Bad Experience

Purchased a Used CR-V for a second vehicle First of all, I am used to high pressure sales tactics, and usually find it amusing. This place is all that. What I didn't like was that when we settled on a price, I asked if that was the total price, and was told "yes". Twice. But when you go to pay for it, they added the salesman's commission to the price. I have never seen that before. Now, the sales guy is sitting there with the puppy eyes and so you have to deal with this in front of him. I told them I was out, and the sales guy offered to forfeit the commission, and the sales manager was OK with that. What a [non-permissible content removed] that they would allow a transaction to happen where their sales guy doesn't get paid, or its just a last minute shake-down and they're both in on it. Whatever. I ended up getting all weather mats thrown in instead, but it took walking out the door first. Anyway, just slimy. Also, the car smelled of the usual shampoo they use at car dealerships and I asked both the sales guy and the sales manager if this car belonged to a smoker. "Absolutely not", I was told, "we never deal those cars". BS. 2 weeks after bringing it home, it reeks of cigarettes. Nothing I can do now though, except spread the word that this dealership sucks! stay away?
