2019 Santa Fe 2.0T delivered w/ disconnected hose

by Disappointed on 09/08/2018

I purchased a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0T within the last 10 days (currently 9/8/18). After their delivering me the wrong car first (a non-turbo), which I was willing to overlook, I have absolutely loved this car since I've bought it. However coming from a sports car, and having never owned a car with a turbo, I was unsure if the perceived lag in power and loud sound of the turbo was due to it being a different vehicle. Today (9/8/18) after washing the car for the first time, I thought I'd pop the hood just to see if maybe some leftover plastic or some such would have been causing the loud turbo noise. It turns out the hose connecting the turbo to the intercooler was disconnected, and oily fluid had been dripping from the disconnected hose and surrounding area. This vehicle has 450 miles on and I have yet to make a payment, however it was delivered in such a pathetic condition I am having to take time out of my weekend to deliver it to Jim Johnson Hyundai. I am so severely upset and disappointed by this. My wife is pregnant and I purchased this vehicle to support my young family. I do not know what they can possibly do to make me, as a customer who has just spent tens of thousands of dollars, feel safe and satisfied that my BRAND NEW vehicle has not suffered severe damage and will not last as long as it would have. I am frankly embarrassed I recommended JJ to people I know who were interested in a new vehicle (and I have yet to receive my $100 referral bonus, and now I doubt I ever will). My brand new vehicle I love so much was delivered to me with mechanical problems, and after I was told it received an inspection. Was the vehicle not inspected? Or was it not inspected very well? This hose was either delivered to the dealership disconnected and was not caught during inspection, or the hose was already loose and they did not perform an adequate inspection. I believe it is the former, because the first day I started the car in my garage (second day of owning the vehicle), you could loudly hear the turbo spool, so I don't believe the hose slid or blew off driving it the first day. I believe the inspection is part of the contracts signed when purchasing - does their failure to uphold their end of the deal invalidate the purchase? This is so unacceptable I am at a loss for words, and am so upset by this I am at the verge of tears. I have already contacted Hyundai corporate through several channels, and will be bringing this vehicle to their service department tomorrow (9/8/18). I will follow up with the result of that, but short of literally giving me another vehicle of the same model, I am not sure how they are going to rectify this situation. I have attached pictures of the disconnected hose as well as a picture of a 2018 2.0T engine circled in red where it was located. https://goo.gl/maps/b6wEQWHfCLm https://goo.gl/maps/oZTyojcfQEq I have purchased many vehicles from local dealerships, such as Gary Force Toyota AND Honda, and Campbell Chevrolet. I have also purchased a Hyundai Elantra several months ago from JJ (which makes me worry about that one, too). Never before have I felt the need to inspect a brand new vehicle for manufacturing or dealership delivery problems. Completely unacceptable and I deserve compensation. Update 9/8/2018: My mother (who has purchased two cars from JJ) and myself took the vehicle to the dealership. The sales manager (Adam? Alex?) was extremely rude and dismissive to my mother, and attempted to place the blame on us. The service manager was not in, as it was a Saturday, so I was forced to leave my brand new vehicle there until Monday. JJ provided a loaner, and attempted to give me the loaner with no gas in the tank. Great job! The mechanic who supposedly performed the inspection said there was (quote) "a 50/50 chance of permanent damage". That's right. A coin flip on my brand new vehicle with 450 miles to whether or not it has permanent powertrain damage. This may necessitate the involvement of a lawyer. My mother and I were both visibly (and justifiably) upset by the extreme stress this has caused.

Wonderful Experience

by BMWFan44 on 10/02/2014

I have purchased several vehicles from Jim Johnson Nissan/Hyundai over the years, and each time I have had a wonderful experience. The process is easy, everything is spelled out, and I feel like I am buying a vehicle at a value. I highly recommend Jim Johnson Nissan/Hyundai to my family and friends.
