In Dec 2006 my wife and I purchased a Certified preowned 2004 New beetle convertible from Heritage VW Union City. April of 2007 we started having problems with the transmission. We took it back to the Heritage and they told us we had damaged the transmission because there was a dent the transmission cover and that we had damaged it and would have to pay for repairs. We refused. May 2007 We took it to Aamco and they said it looked like the cover had been replaced after the damage to the transmission since the cover had no damage to it. We then took it to Jim Ellis VW they confirmed the same thing, that cover had been replaced after damage was done. We asked that they repair it since this was NOT a “AS IS” purchase and was covered under the Certified preowned program. Jim Ellis said that it was not in the computer as CPO. Jim Ellis called Heritage VW Union City and they said they had forgotten to enter it into the computer and they would be sending a tow truck to pick up the car. June 2007 Heritage replaced some parts on the transmission . Aug 2007 We took it back for another issue and they told us that the transmission cover had fallen off and suggested we replace it to avoid further damage to the transmission. They charged us $336 to replace a cover that they were the last ones to touch. Nov 2007 More transmission problems. Took it to Heritage and tech said nothing was wrong with it and no repairs attempted. Nov 2007 More transmission problems, they replaced a gear indicator. Sep 2008 07 Oct 2009 Problems with faulty turn signal. I looked up the problem on the internet and found technical advisory on the turn signal switch causing the exact problem we were having. I printed out the paper and sent it with my wife to have them replace the turn signal switch are at our expense since we were out of warranty now. They replaced the hazard switch at a cost of $122. 09 Oct 2009 We Took car back to Heritage for same turn signal problem and the replaced the turn signal switch and we have had no more issues with the signal. Only problem now is that they installed the steering wheel incorrectly and it is about 10 degrees out of center. I would have taken it back to them but I am afraid to let them touch it ever again. July 2010 Transmission problem is back again, never really fixed the first time. Nov 2010 Received recall notice on 2004 VW beetle tranmissions up to 100,000 miles, we have 130k.Aamco wants $3000 to rebuild transmission
