Carl Black Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC

by abelots on 12/01/2023

The salesman Brian Mobley was very nice and polite but that's where the good experience ends. The dealership charges $3,000.00 extra for a "Carl Black Cares" package (explained to me as a protective coating sprayed on the interior and exterior of the vehicle) which I was told is non negotiable. When asked about what product was used, I was unable to get an answer. When I requested that it not be done to the vehicle, I was told that it was already done at on off-sight location prior to the vehicle arriving. The problem with this whole transaction is that the vehicle arrived straight from the manufacturing plant covered in dirt and still with the factory plastic covering all of the seats. I am a mechanic and pretty well versed on most things automotive, so I know that the truck never had anything applied to it since it arrived with the factory plastic wrap on all the seats. If anything was applied then the plastic would have been removed. And if anything like a protective ceramic coating or vinyl conditioner was applied then the plastic wouldn't adhere to the seats. Also the truck arrived with a large scratch on the passenger side quarter panel that had to be buffed out twice and is still visible. There are now swirl marks in the paint of my brand new truck due to that process, which leads me to believe that either the truck wasn't cleaned properly beforehand or, the buffing pads weren't clean and had some sort of sediment on them. If there was a protective coating like a ppf applied to the vehicle then neither the scratch nor the subsequent swirl marks would have happened. THIS IS FRAUD in the utmost degree. Not only were we not informed about this charge until beginning to finalize the purchase paperwork for our vehicle, but there is no proof that this so called "Carl Black Cares" package was installed, and there is proof that it was never installed. Once again, this is clear cut FRAUD. I was informed by my salesman that lots of dealerships do these kind of packages and he specifically stated the Toyota dealership located behind theirs. This wasn't a good example because Toyota is currently being sued for illegally preventing car buyers from canceling unwanted car bundles among other things. I can't stress enough that I am car literate and there is nothing someone can spray on the interior of my vehicle that costs $3,000.00. A paint protection film (ppf) and ceramic coating, on average, is over $10,000.00 for a truck of that size, and if something like that was applied then the dirt and water sticking to my truck, on top of the paint swirls that are now clearly visible due to having to buff out the scratch twice, would not have never been there. This service was never applied to my vehicle and I was FORCED to sign something that I didn't want to in order to receive my truck that I had custom ordered and have been waiting six months, three months after its completion date, to receive. THIS IS FRAUD. I love Chevrolet and all of the GM brands. I consider them the best of the USDM vehicle range. I have been a fan since my early childhood and throughout my professional automotive career. I am now blessed to be able to purchase my first diesel truck and my first brand new Chevrolet. I love my truck. I just wish that I had picked a dealership that didn't charge me for nothing and made me feel more like a friend and less like an annoying guest. Aleks B.

We love Carl Black Kennesaw!

by Jeff Black on 10/02/2023

This is our 2nd purchase from Carl Black Kennesaw. Your salesman Will Bird actually came in on his day off to sell this vehicle to us. We text in advance about which SUV's you had in stock so Will had the two vehicles we wanted to compare ready upon our arrival. Ken from the financing department was very friendly once again and had us out the door in our new Suburban in no time! My two year old son and I enjoyed playing in the bouncey house as well :)

Parts Department terrible

by Willie G on 05/23/2023

Sales advisor was great Andre thanks 5 stars all the way. The one star is for the parts department. The worst I seen from a dealership in my life. They talk on the phone with rudeness and when you ask them questions they respond like they got an attitude problem. I will never order from them again. If I could give a 0 star I would.

Disappointed in my $90,000 truck deal

by Dissatisfied on 08/01/2022

We all know the automobile market is hot right now but its a shame that we have to walk away feeling taken advantage of by a dealer that you have had 2 previous purchases with and who you go to for all your service. I traded in my 2017 Silverado 2500HD Duramax LTZ with Z71 package w/113K miles and only received the lowest of trade in values based on online sources. $39,000 (and the manager said he could simply do no more). I specifically asked if they would be selling it or sending to the auction. I was told that due to the high miles (113k is not high for a Diesel) that it would go to auction. However, before I could even leave the dealership they had a buyer waiting. Felt like ol' Bait and Switch. While the dealer demanded no less than full sticker price for my new truck plus an additional $2995 "Carl Black Cares" package which I was told by an employee was there in large part to since they were not going above sticker as they said many dealers do. I had already bought two other vehicles there and made that known (a 2013 loaded LTZ Tahoe and the 2017 Silverado 2500HD LTZ Z71) but they did not seem to care about customer loyalty. Just that they had a truck they could sell to the highest bidder and give the least amount on a trade. That was the situation I found myself in when purchasing an $87,000 truck (PLUS I had to pay for the $3k 'Cares' package). And I bought an extended warranty from them! Tax tag and title put the deal at close to $100k! At this point I will not recommend Carl Black GMC/Chevy nor will I ever buy another vehicle from them again. I am in the sales profession as well but, in my humble opinion, I am extremely dissatisfied in the way this was handled at the dealer.

Truth is Simple, but No One Here is Familiar with it

by Deceived Georgia Car Buyer on 12/22/2021

It's a rather simple concept, the truth, but no one at Carl Black is familiar with being honest, honoring their word or anything related to the truth. First, Sharon Hampton lied up front by stating they don't markup vehicles, as many dealers are these days, but hey at least those dealers are gouging consumers directly, without any spin, lies or manipulation to cover up the markup. That's what Carl Black does best in the form of multiple unnecessary fees and offering incentives that suddenly, as if David Copperfield were involved, magically disappear! They required I pay for the vehicle, sign all of the documents before I ever saw the Yukon otherwise they said they would sell it to someone else. Fantastic, right? But we must trust people, to some degree, in this delightful COVID world we are living in... just don't trust anyone at Carl Black. To make this process even more cumbersome for me, they don't offer any virtual experiences even in COVID affected times so I was forced to drive hours to meet the sales rep and sign the docs in a cold and windy parking lot. These people clearly aren't familiar with not just the truth, but any kind of customer service is a foreign concept as well. What business doesn't offer virtual services after nearly 2 years of COVID in our lives? I've purchased other cars in the past 2 years and was offered a seamless, completely virtual experience by the dealership that then brought the car to my house so I never had to leave the comfort and safety of my home. Carl Black clearly doesn't believe in service to a customer in any way, at any time except on their own terms, how they define it, how, where and when they want it... which is the opposite of serving the customer. But wait... there's MORE! Then comes the bait and switch. They had provided two proposals, one for financing and the other for cash purchase, both showing an incentive (cash bonus) if I financed through the manufacturer's finance arm yet, when I drove hours to meet the sales rep, William Bird, to sign the docs, this wasn't reflected on the documentation. I asked about it and the sales rep said they didn't recall anything of this sort. So young to be suffering from early on set Alzheimer's. The sales rep told me he would check into this and they would fix it later. Famous last words because his amnesia further took hold over his young mind as I was told this was never offered to me... so I emailed the written proposals to the General Manager, Louis Spaeth, with a question as to what happened? He never replied. Then I emailed the friendly, engaging lady that first spoke to me from the dealership, Sharon Hampton, asking about this discrepancy. She never replied. So then I called and spoke to the Sales Manager, Jon Ziegler who attempted to distract and deflect by mentioning many completely unrelated factors in order to confuse and confound me and ended with that he would look into this. The follow up from the sales manager was that they value my business and wouldn't want anyone to feel misled. Placating me with lies isn't helping anyone. It's a rather simple concept, the truth, but these people are so unfamiliar with it that they make it much more complex all to the detriment of the customer they claim to value and serve. I asked them to honor their word, which they put in writing, but they chose to spin, distract, deflect and lie instead. Save yourself the trouble of dealing with people that don't deserve your time, energy or decency and skip over any dealership with Carl Black on the sign or building. They lie, deceive and spin the facts to the point I don't think they would know truth if it slapped them across the face.

Jason and the Carl Black Team does it again!

by Hands Free on 06/06/2019

Because of the new hands free law, this is a biggie. My new Samsung phone and voice recognition on my 2016 Colorado wouldn't synch. T Mobile said it's not the phone and I may have to contact Google (Good luck with that!). As it turns out, it was the phone, and Brian and the detail manager (a very nice gentleman who also has an Android, though I didn't get his name) , sat in the cab trying different things for as long as it took to make it happen. Many thanks to these three gentlemen. By the way, there was no charge. Roy Lantz

Simple fixes not so simple

by RobertoR on 06/13/2017

I came in to have the driver side mirror adjusted and the seat belt tensioner adjusted. I was told the tensioner had to be replaced and the part was on backorder. Several weeks later, the part came in and I came for the service. Apparently, changing a seat belt tensioner is quite an involved task and I was given a loaner vehicle, which annoyingly announced it was in demo mode every time I started it. Late the following day my car was ready, and I went to retrieve it. While there I asked about the driver side mirror. The original problem is that it cannot be adjusted out far enough. I travel for a living, nearly every week I'm in a rental car. Every car I have ever rented, from many different manufacturers, has been able to adjust the driver side mirror our far enough to see into the blind spot, from the normal driving position. This is the ONLY car I have not been able to adjust out properly. This is a serious safety problem. I cannot see into the blind spot without leaning far forward while driving. The mirror position also reflects the headlights from following cars directly into my eyes, rendering me blind. I have to misadjust the mirror so I can see to drive. I have a hard time believing that this serious safety problem is a design issue. I have a hard time believing this cannot be corrected. But that's what I was told, that I would have to live with this serious safety problem. I sincerely hope I was told wrong and that this can be corrected. If that is the case, please feel free to contact me.

They Called Me a Liar

by NotALiar on 05/05/2017

I brought my car in for routine maintenance and to have the radio repaired. In the process of Carl Black working on my car, the windshield was damaged. After several days of leaving messages, I was finally able to speak to the service manager Terry. He agreed to replace the windshield. I want to be clear at this point and say that my complaint is NOT about the windshield replacement. My complaint starts with the fact that I was never given the benefit of the doubt that this damage was done by Carl Black. From the beginning, I was made to feel that I caused this damage and was trying to pass it off on to Carl Black (wrongfully accusing them) in order to get a free repair. I was then made to jump through hoops and run after Terry and Will (my service advisor) for two weeks to get a resolution. I have never had such poor customer service in my life. And of course, I DID NOT BREAK MY OWN WINDSHIELD. It was done at Carl Black. Why did the person who replaced my windshield wipers (routine maintenance), the person changing my oil, the person performing the multi-point inspection, or any other person with eyes on my car, not notice the damage if had been there beforehand? One would think that would have been noticed, no? Will, the service advisor, then had the audacity to say to me that this situation has been a 'teaching moment' for their guys, so that they know now to take better pictures as the cars arrive for service in order to see damage (because they couldn't see any damage in the pictures they took of my car), implying that the damage was already on my car and that I am scamming for a new windshield - they just didn't have a good enough picture to prove otherwise! Now that the windshield is replaced, there are multiple waves and distortions in the glass. It looks like I'm driving under water. I brought my car back to Carl Black to speak to Terry again today, 5/4/2017. He inspected my car for my complaint about the waves in the glass. The first thing he said to me was, "Have you looked at other windshields?" I asked him what that meant and the relevancy. He never explained what he meant. He then sat in my car and stated that he saw no distortion or wave. After arguing with me, he left me for about 15 minutes. He then brought a car to me from the dealership lot with similar distortions in the windshield (though not nearly as many as mine), trying to tell me that this is what windshields look like. But how can this be if he didn't see any distortions in my car to begin with? He then admitted to seeing the distortions in my car, but he said they are normal. He then told me to my face that he did not believe the initial damage was caused by Carl Black; the damage had already been there and that I got a free windshield out of them; and as such he would no longer discuss my concerns with me. He called me a liar. I then asked to speak to his manager or supervisor, and he told me that he was the manager and there was no one else to speak to. This is when I passed my tolerance level of frustration and left Carl Black. This was an atrocious act of customer service, and I cannot express enough my deep dissatisfaction over this entire situation. Because at the end of the day, this is not about the $250 windshield. This is about the relationship I have with my Chevy dealership and the expectations I have on the care I receive there. Carl Black, through Terry, has completely failed me in this, and I will never step foot in Carl Black again.

They charge your debit/credit card TWICE!!!

by MW12345 on 12/17/2016

I wish there was 0 stars. I had my car serviced here and my debit card was charged twice for $2,820 today 12/16/2016 totaling $5,640 one week before Christmas!!! Accounting rep responsible for the refund(Sheila Beck) has NO CUSTOMER SERVICE skills!! She didn't get out her chair to explain to me or talk to me directly, only to the service rep as she just stared on with no concern through her glass window. So asked to speak to Director-No definitive time frame on my refund after talking Service Director. They don't even know how long it takes their vendor (MES) to process the refund. It takes 2 seconds to take your money, but Carl Black has no clue how long MES will take to process my refund/credit. INCOMPETENT!!! So now I'm left to figure out how to pay for: dinner I was hosting for 15 kids I mentor, groceries, gas for my car, my birthday plans, last minute Christmas items, not to mention regular bills......because who knows when Carl Black will show ACCOUNTABILITY and give me MY money back. It doesn't affect them personally so they DO NOT CARE!!!!

Kim=Awesome...GM support and sourcing were terrible

by seider12 on 06/07/2016

The ONLY reason for rating 5 stars is for my service rep Kim. My car had a TSB on its rear cradle where if any of the seals were leaking then the entire cradle had to be replaced. Took over 8 weeks for them to source the part and for it to get 'approved.' Now in my understanding, the TSB's are created when there is a large demand to solve a reoccurring problem, in which case any respectable company would be prepared to match the demand with a supply to resolve any customer problems. However, this was not the case with GM. Corporate side of things and customer support were pathetic with info on the case i had to open to speed things up, and even then, gave false information 2 times about my part number being shipped with ETA's. I was provided a courtesy vehicle, but was in no way given an allowance or compensation for my inconvenience of over 8 weeks without my car. The only '2 cents' i received form GM, was i should have checked into my used Cadillac more before i bought it! I purchased it form the largest Lexus dealership in the state with the best dealer rating, which was twice the overall rating of GM, so get that!? Plus giving me that type of rebuttal when I purchased YOUR brand at a Lexus dealer, just proves you don't stand by your product and your ignorance for customer service.
