Bad Service - Long Wait time - Car needed work after purchase

by happyhappy2 on 11/14/2012

I was looking for a very specific car and Pedersen had the car. I had done lots of research on the car itself but forgot to look at the information on the dealerships. As it turns out I am the first to write a review for this dealership. The funny thing is this is my first time to ever write a review. My experience was just that bad that I felt like I had to take the time to write! LOOKING AT THE CAR: I called ahead to see if they still had the car...yes they did. When I arrived the salesman1 was closing on another car so he handed me off to salesman2. Salesman2 asked Salesman3 to go retrieve the car. Salesman3 returned and said the car was sold. So we drove a hour home without a car. For some reason I called back late that afternoon to confirm- guess what...the car was still there! There had been confusion in what car (because I had been passed off 3 times). So we go back, test drive the car, and buy it. (side note: the person selling us the car was from another part of the dealership (not Volvo) and that salesman did not know what any of the features were in the car. For example the key pad for the radio, he did not know what it was. It looked like a hands free phone to me but later learned it was the radio preset buttons). BUYING THE CAR: The process initially seemed to be going well but then we had to sit & sit waiting 1 hr before the finance guy was even available to complete our paperwork. I will say once in the finance office, that man was profession, knew his stuff and was hands down the best part of this whole experience. (we were at the dealership to buy the car from 4:45 - 8:30 pm- way too long of a process!!!) So we buy the car - As we drive off the lot to make our 1 hr drive home. 2 lights came on in the dash board- the "DSTC ON" light and the "Check Stop light" light. The one thing that salesman1 said was that they check out these vehicles from head-to-toe and they are the best used vehicles. I drive the car for a week and then also begin to notice that the car is shifting to the left every time I break. So I final take it to a more local dealership to have checked out. Folks in their words: "I can not believe someone sold you this car in this condition!" My heart sank. The new dealership replaced lights, updated settings and replaced the Control Arm bushings that were apparently down to nothing. All was luckily covered under the original factory warranty. Whew. I am hopeful that I know have a Service dealership I can trust and my dream car running perfectly!!! Conclusion: My experience was bad at this dealership. It is a family owned business that has been in business for a long time. I believe they need to dust off their customer experience manuals and let Volvo handle their own customers.
