Bad service department

by AdamT on 10/07/2023

We had our 09 Camry Hybrid towed here with the VSC light on as well as ABS lights. The car was starting weird and basically had no brakes. Wasn't sure what it was so figured let's let the experts take care of it. We were called later that day and told that we needed to replace the ABS module to the tune of $3,600. We decided against fixing it at the moment as that's a lot to spend on a car with 248k miles and is 14 years old. My wife stopped in to pay the $205 diagnostic fee and get it towed back to our house. The tow truck driver noted that the voltage on the 12v battery was dropping when he went to start the car. The 12v battery doesn't actually start the engine, however it runs the all of the electronics. While all this was happening a different service writer then the one who wrote us up was asking what we were going to do with it and saying he'll buy it right now as is. Just kept saying let me know. Ill pay cash and buy it as is. The tow truck driver mentioned that this all sounds like they're trying to scam us. Once home I'd purchased a better car scanner and scanned the active codes. All of them came up to being set when the voltage to the ABS module drops below 9v. So I bought a battery load tester and tested the battery. Low and behold voltage was dropping to 7v while trying to start the car. Replaced the battery cleared all the codes car is back to its old self. So I guess let that be a lesson to us to never visit them again as it appears they were trying to rip us off in more than one way. If they weren't they have awful techs that can't follow a diag tree. This is why people don't trust dealers. Out $205 for nothing from them. Will make sure I tell everyone I know never to come here.

Delays for an extended warranty refund

by LChan on 02/29/2020

On 11/21/19 I purchased a used 2018 Subaru Crosstrek at Hanley Toyota in Davis, CA. Caleb Hargreaves, who works in the finance department, completed the necessary paperwork to complete the transaction. During this process he sold me an 84 month extended warranty administered by Enterprise Financial Group, Inc. (EFG) for $3,446.00. This contract had a 30-day cancellation policy attached to it. On 11/30/19 I went to Hanley Toyota in Davis and talked to Caleb Hargreaves to cancel this warranty contract. Caleb filled out a Cancellation Request/Quote Form in which I have a copy. Caleb told me he would send the form to EFG and by my second monthly car payment (by February '20) it would show up as a credit. I called EFG on 02/19/20 to verify that the cancellation was submitted and being processed. EFG told me that they did not receive a cancellation request from Hanley Toyota. I then called and emailed Caleb on 02/20/20 and he told me that he sent it in but they must not have received it. Caleb asked me to send him via email my copy of the Cancellation Request/Quote Form to him and that he would send it to EFG immediately. On 02/25/20 I emailed Caleb to ascertain where we were in this cancellation process. He did not respond. I called EFG on 2/28/20 and they told me they had not received the cancellation form. I then called Hanley Toyota on 02/28/20 and talked to several managers (Late & Dave). Dave assured me he would expedite this matter being resolved. I feel Caleb was deceptive throughout this process. He told me that this process would take about 3 months before I saw a credit. When I called EFG they told me that it would take up to 3 business days to process the refund and 4-6 weeks to receive the refund. Upon reflection it appears to me that Caleb purposely delayed the process so that he could receive his commission check from EFG/Toyota. He obviously had no intention of sending EFG the cancellation form right away. And even after several phone calls and emails, he still refused to process the cancellation form.

Terrible, wifi doesn’t work in center

by Matt on 02/20/2020

I planned to work here while I wait for my car. It said it will take about 1.5hrs. Of course, they never get it done in the time frame that they give me in the beginning. I already prepare I need to wait for more than 1.5hrs, the time they said it will take. Then guess what, when I plan to work in the center, the wifi from hanlees does not work! Then I go to ask the staff, they said they also don’t know why, the wifi has been weird the whole time. How can they fix a car when they can’t even fix a wifi???

Cracked cap during oil change

by Tianna on 06/29/2019

I got my oil changed right before Memorial Day for maintenance and for an upcoming road trip with my husband and new born baby. Luckily that trip went ok, but not even a month afterwards my car stopped working. I took it to a mechanic and he said I had a massive oil leak and someone had replaced the cap with a cheap one that was completely cracked. Looking back to the day I was serviced at Toyota, it took forever and they didn’t try to sell me anything, which is abnormal for them. It now feels as if they wanted to get me out after they tried to fix a mistake they made rather than being honest. I’m only writing this review for the danger this could have caused and lack of honesty I feel I received from the dealership.

Don't buy here

by Chuky098 on 07/18/2018

Don't buy a car from here. Here's my experience. Bought new car, but am only handed 1 key. I'm told they will mail me the 2nd key. A few days later Me: âWhen I getting my second key? Them: Let me get back to you by end of today Next day Me: You guys didn't get back to me yesterday Them: I called the guy and told him to call you Few days later Me: Nobody called me Them: I'll remind them to call you Next day Me: Didn't you remind someone to call me? Them: We wrote it down to call you. We'll remind the guy again More than week has gone by and no one has called me. Sounds like a great shopping experience right? Round and round we go. If you want to jump in on this Merry-Go-Round, ask for Scott Nannini or Joe Ponce. They'll be happy to take you on a ride.

Con Job! Almost Criminal broken verbal contract/deal

by davenkit on 10/15/2012

Criminal Con Job and Broken Promises/deals: 1. Sales manager (John P) quoted me a price by voice mail and then again by phone. 2. When I drove an hour to pick up the car at that price, they told me the price would be $1000 higher, since the ad they were running in the paper included a college grad discount. That was NOT the deal he offered me. I had 2 communications with John and he said nothing about the college grad thing in either one. They just plain would not honor the price John had offered me, even when I played them the voicemail message he left me with the exact price quoted in his voice. 3. They didn't tell me any of this until AFTER they had run my credit and my wife had left me at the dealership to finish the deal. So they figured they could trap me into accepting the higher price after I had come all that way. Total scam, and in my opinion a verbal contract or at the very least a promise broken. Do not trust this dealership. They were all in on it from the main sales manager down to the weekend sales manager (Billy) and the salesman I dealt with (Jimmy), and they will do it to you too in a heartbeat. Con Job!

Wait Wait and then Rush Sale

by mia22 on 10/02/2012

I bought a new Prius in Aug 2012 and brought in written price quotes. They haggled over $100 and I waited 3 hours (!) to sign papers. Yet two days later, they advertised 4 of the same model at $1500 less than I paid! When the car arrived later from another dealer lot, they rushed me through with minimal review of the car's functions.
