I LOVE My Concorde!
This is a wonderful Car ! My only problems ? I bought an extra key . Locks / unlocks only . I mixed up my keys one day . I could not have stolen it if I had tried . It would start for a second then die . Twice . then it disabled totally . It had a hose lak in the radiator . Ran hot . I replaced the hose . added coolant . after it had cooled . Disabled , becaus I left off the radiator cap and tried to start it . I am so impressed with this car ! It has over 156000 miles on it . Runs and performs flawlessly . The trunk lifters are broken . I just don't care I use 2 dowels !!!Works for me would be the whole descpirtion for the whole car . My wife loves it ! Her last car was a Camry . Better!
RUN AWAY from a 2.7 Liter SludgeMobile
Car was great for the 1st 100000 miles Then at 100k Dreaded SLUDGE problem destroyed the motor I had always maintained the car correctly, with good quality oil but the poor design of the 2.7 liter motor ( small capacity , small oil galleys ) allows sludge to build up and prevent proper engine lubrication. The timing chain broke, and that was all she wrote, valves smashed into pistons, junque! My last Chrysler, as they refused to acknowledge there was a problem with this motor, or offer any warranty support at all . Boo and shame on you Chrysler

No Regrets
I purchased this car 3.2 L engine with 15,000 miles on the odometer. I now have 93,000 miles on the odometer and just had my first major problem. The AC is not cooling and the vehicle is running hot. My Repair bill will be $1,200, but I think it is well worth it since I have not had any problems in the past. I plan on keeping it another 10 years
my biggest mistake
I wanted a car loaded that looked good and that is what i got. Too bad the car spent more time with the mechanic that being driven. I less than 2 years repalced radiator , water pump/timing chain twice cooling fan motors, starter, numerous sensors, 3 power window motors fuel pump and engine ocntrol module. I invested 5,000 in parts and repairs on top of the 5800 i spent when i purchased it new Car has been in shop for over 8 weeks with electrical problems and i am hoping to get at least 250. as is. Will never buy a chrysler product again.
grnman's concorde
Love the features such as the self dimming mirrors the on/off botton for the air system, the big back sits.
CPA's report on car-
Bought car at 30,000 mis., now nearly at 100,000 mis. Overall, a good car. One of the best looking big cars ever. Good looking interior, too. I've had a number of repairs over the 5 years I've owned the car, but nothing big - speed sensor, power window gears, cooling fan motors. The paint is still in good shape. I read about transmission problems on these cars, but are they using the right fluid? I've never had any trans. problems, but I've used the right fluid and had the fluid changed at recommended service intervals. My only remaining question: can I get it up to 200,000 miles?
Owning has been an excellent experience.
A great looking car, handles superbly on long trips. Has the lowest driving-associated fatigue of any I've owned. Interior and trunk space are incredible. Fully loaded gets ~30 mpg on trips. Has been very reliable so far (75000 miles). Problems- Transmission sensor replaced under warranty, Developed window sticking, solved by cycling up and down weekly to keep them unstuck. This is the only design/engineering flaw that has disappointed me. Getting Michelins as replacement tires has improved road noise. Having driven a lot of rental cars, by comparison, I cannot understand why this car is not rated higher. Plan to keep 10 years.
Engine Failure
Oh my God! Don't be fooled by the looks of this car. Changed my oil every 3,000 miles. Was going to work yesterday and it had to be towed. Mechanic said it needed a new engine!! Looked on the internet. Very common with this car. Now a have a 1999 Concorde worth nothing. I'll have to pay to have it taken away!!! Please check the internet.
Great car
Flawless operation, on Interstate and locally, with great (31.5) mpg on 3.2 engine. Only TWO problems.... speed control went out twice till they got it fixed, and 1 power window failure. Car handles great.
None
One of the nicest cars I have ever driven. As they say Drive = Love. I am keeping this vehicle w/ 38000 miles, and selling my '99 Volvo S70 with only 23000 miles The Chrysler is simply a more luxury riding and driving car.
NEVER AGAIN!!!
We bought the car on 02/03/2003 on 2/14/03 the center brake light (in the back window) stopped working it took them to replace it entirely 02/07/03 Driver side window slow going up they lubed it said it would work 02/14/03 driver side window clicking noise when going down, upon inspection found excessive body flex (whatever that is) 03/06/03 driver side window stops half way upon inspection the window regulator cable was snapped replaced regulator and cable .now 04/2004 the windows are still broken and the transmission is going! DONT BUY THIS CAR
Concorde Great Buy
No major or minor problems with mechanical or body integrity. Fun to drive, great gas mileage for a car this size without compromising on pick up. Tons of rear leg room and comfy seating for three. I would buy it again if I had the choice. I chose this over Camry, Avalon, and Accord and am happy with my choice after two years.
Excellent car
The car is very reliable and you can depend on it. It has good room specially if you have a family and chrysler did a good job with the concord.
Don't do it
Although the car is gorgeous and comes with many extras, it has many problems. I did not go for 3 months in a row without having some major repair. If you really want this car, factor in monthly repairs that will rival or beat your monthly payments. I believe I have replaced nearly every mechanical part withing the last 3 years.
What a Car!!
I've had this car about a month, bought it used with only 19,000 mi and it is show room condition. This car has it all! All the bells and whistles, the looks, ride and quality of build. I'm a Dodge/Chrysler guy and this car is not disappointing. I usually go for sporty or Pick-up but it was time for a little luxury and this car has it!
Overall Excellent Car
Comfort, Style and Perfomance get excellent marks. The exterior design is sleek and prestigious. Interior of car as well as truck is exceptionally roomy and comfortable. All bells and whistles are top notch.
concorde lxi
have enjoyed this car, roomy, easy to drive, rounded fenders make it hard to tell where they are when parking,A/C went out and expensive to replace, not bad milage
Beauty only skin deep
I owned the car for two and a half years; bought at 39,000 miles and sold at 74,000. Problems during ownership; air conditioning, power window, and transmission speed sensor failures, and the radio was erratic. The main reason for selling the vehicle was my experience with a 1996 Chrysler LHS. It appears that a typical "LH" car can become problematic after 75,000 miles. Based on NHTSA info, I was very concerned that the 2.7 liter V6 might fail prematurely. Also, the steering was making weird noises. I now own a Toyota.
Trouble in disguise
I just bought a 99 Concorde and I have to say it looks great!...BUT....I'm already experiencing problems even though it was certified and CARFAX came clean. My climate control doesnt light up and column lights for gears don't light up. Brakes has become a problem and in need of repair. Seals around the headlight is comming apart and will be costly to replace@200 a piece. Just wanted to add that I have had it only a week! Luckily I purchased a warranty that covers it except the headlights. $400 down and who knows whats next.
Love it!
Beautiful car, I bought it at 10,000 miles. The guy that used it before barely used it so it was like buying a brand new car! Fast, slick, hot, beautiful and sexy. Kick down is amazingly fast!
Love that car!
If you can live with almost 100% failure of door handles, window motors, cup holder and upper hood molding strip, the rest is pure joy to drive and comfort to ride in. I am trying to decide between a new car or a rebuilt engine in the 143,000 mile Concord that is using oil every couple of weeks. They don't make them like this now that are affordable for the normal person who can't afford a luxury vehicle.
Best Car
This is the best car I have ever driven. The style is outstanding, the ride is smooth, the tracking is excellent, the 3.2L engine more than enough with good gas mileage. Handling is superb due partly to the 16 inch rims with 60 ratio tires. Chrysler outdid themselves on this one. After 3 and a half years, I enjoy it as much as ever. The front plate goes on a bracket the dealer installs in the middle of the grill. works out ok.
2.7 Ltr. problems
Bought it used in a rush to replace our totaled truck. It looked great, rode great but was a wolf in sheep's clothing. What a mistake!!! 2 weeks after buying the car I found out about the 2.7 liter engine problems. I babied the car in hopes it would get us by until the insurance settlement was paid. No such luck- 8 months later the motor blew. I found out later this was actually the 2nd motor for this car and it had less than 50,000 miles on it. What a piece of junk.
One of the BEST used car values!!!!
I purchased a 99 Concorde about a month ago. I have never driven a car with as much leg room in my life. I have 3 children ranging from 5-9 and it works out fantastic! A great alternative to expensive SUV's if room is what you are after. It handles excellent and looks great too! What a great find for your money!!
Everyone shoudl have one of these!`
This is the vehicle we wanted and finally got,,,there's no turning back to other car makers, not even imports.
dont buy
We purchased new. The right window motor had to be replaced within the 1st six months. The rubber insulation abound both rear doors keeps poping off and the rubber insulation around the headlights are coming off. Had to completly replace the transmissing after 32000 miles and 41 months of ownership. Did the dealer help? Completly ignored all calls and letters as did the factory. Am getting rid of it as fast as I can. Will never buy another Chrysler product.
dont buy this at home
Remember to get the extended warranty b/c your screwed if you dont...thank god we did! This is a p.o.s!First on the list is a very serious electrical problem, then a tranny problem and then the oil in the engine came out kind of a paste which caused a serious engine problem! The sensor went out but we lucked out and had an extended warranty however we did not remember about it until the last moment and that stupidity cost $600.though ont the upside, its a good car now after all is fixed
Haven't found a better car for the $$
Purchased used with the 2.7 liter option in it, was skeptical about the drop in engine size, however 200 hp moves this car well in 95% of traffic situations. Handling is great, I upgraded rear struts to performance package for better cornering.
You'r going to love it!!
My wife and I purchased this car out of nessecity after our van with 220k miles died on a road trip. It was a 99' model with 65k miles. We where sceptical at first, but quickly fell in love with the car. Since then we have had no major problems. I am 6'2" and have never driven a car with such comfort. We also have a baby and find plenty of room to place stroller, car seat, travel bags, presents at Christmas time, and much more.
Where Do I Start?
I bought this car in a hurry when the transmission on my old car gave out. I needed a car ASAP, so I didn't take a lot of time to look around. BIG MISTAKE! The first few months I had it the cow on the hood flew off in the highway, luckily it didn't hit anyone. Weeks after I bought it the back seat windows stopped working, will not raise up and down. My engine and transmission light come on every other week, have to put fluid in it all the time. Both front door handles are broken off. Top overhead lights don't work. CD player stopped working a year after I bought it. And just last week my window got off track for the second time, and the glass shattered all over me. NEVER BUY A CRYSLER!!!!
Good Car
Bought this car used with only 30K and it has been great. The gas mileage is the best. Not much power but I can get 340 miles before the low fuel light comes on. Great when gas prices go up and down. Has the smaller 2.7 liter but Ice cold A/C. OH, and the trunk space is even better. I hope this car can last me. No complaints here.
I love it, but I hate it...
I have never been behind the wheel of a car that was more comfortable or more fun to drive on the interstate than this "Highway Hog." Even when the A/C is on, it gets great gas milage, 21 city 32 highway! If it wasn't for the two times I had to put it in the shop to replace transmission sensors(the input and then the out sensor--about $110 each time) I would have no complaints. I've sat up to 7 people(3 front, 4 back) comfortably. Overall, it's a good car but if I got another one I would buy it new, lease it for 3 years, and get rid of it because Chrysler transmissions suck once they get over 3 years old.
Chrysler LXi
This has been a great car. It is luxurious and very comfortable for traveling.
Keep breaking down
I purchased my car on January 1 2001. I had a bad wheel alignment when i bought the car. The right wheel bearing let go about 1 month after. A few months later i was backing out of my driveway and the reverse let go, no reverse. Lucky I had a warranty. A garage rebuilt the transmission and it cost about $2300. Three years later the transmission let go but now the drive gear, back to the garage i go. They said that they had to rebuild it again another $2300, but i said forget it. Then the right and left power widows let go. The muffler had a small leak and that was $800 dollars because it's a one piece stainless steel. I traded it for a new car, its worth $50 bucks now. scrap.
Concorde is an excellent vehicle
The one thing that makes the Concorde undesireable is probably the thing that makes it a great car if you're looking to buy a used car -- It hasn't held it's value well at all. I don't understand it because it is very comfortable and probably the best- handling vehicle I've owned although I've never owned a sports car. I have the 3.8L V6 and it gets 29 MPG on the highway. Road noise is a bit loud on rough surfaces.
honeymobile
Comfortable and reliable family car. Great mileage for commuting. 48,000 miles - mainly from long trips.
Good Design / Bad Construction
If only it was built as well as it was designed! 2 window motors in 3 years. Rear window glass replaced when defogger quit. 4 trunk lid pistons replaced - going bad again. Headlight gaskets won't stay on. Driver's window retainer clip broken - falls off track. Door panels loose - driver's & left rear. Hood trim moulding flew off on highway. Radiator fan motor quit at 48K - $200. Speed sensor bad at 59K $110 - had to be towed in. Fuel gauge sensor bad 60K, A/C intermittent since day 1 - Evaporator core now bad $1200 to repair.
Dead Engine
Have loved this car for its size and comfort for many years, however have also lived with the problems for many years too! Bought in 1999 with 10,000 miles. Headlight grommets started coming off a long time ago, lived with it. Been hit on the head with the trunk after a few years, replaced lifts. Dash and lights have been flickering bright & dim for many years, figured it was not worth paying to have researched, so we have lived with that. Back and side windows stopped working a few years ago, lived with that, until my driver side completely died, put in over $1,000 last year to fix those, since the air died also. Now, now with no warning, the Engine just Died!
LOVE the car, but a few problems
The car is awesome to drive! But....I have only had it four months and have put about 400.00 into repairs already. First, which is not the cars fault, I had to replace the battery. But the battery location made it where I had to take the car to a garage. Second, the starter just went out, and the location of the starter also made it where I had to take it to a garage. So....I am afraid of what is next! But the inside and outside design is GREAT! Huge trunk, every thing powered, keyless entry, all the comforts that most people enjoy! And I think the pickup and power for that size car is great. On the interstate, you can fly and hardly feel like your moving!
My LXi
Nothing but good driving pleasure. This car has been extremely reliable.
1999 Chrysler Concorde LXi
Bought this car new in 2000 w/ only 340 miles on it. Very roomy and comfortable and excellent gas mileage for size. Trunk lid stabilizers replaced twice. This year, 2010, with only 54,000 miles started having numerous electrical problems. Engine started stopping. Had to replace Powertrain Computer Module. Very expensive. Probably spent 2-3,000 dollars in repairs over the years. Lucky that I bought extended warranty. Finally gave up and got rid of it. Wish I had seen these reviews before I bought it.
Great Choice !
It was just before closing on a Friday when I test drove the Concorde LXi. The salesman told me to keep it for the weekend. Since I was just looking I decided to take the nicest one on the lot. It was green with tan leather, moon-roof, CD etc... That was three years ago. Needless to say, I never returned the car.
Not bad
First owner was an elderly man who passed away and the family did not drive for several years. Since I have had it, I put 10K on it so far and it has been great. Just wish it had more passing power when I travel, but the gas mileage makes up for it. Able to get to PHX to Las Vegas on just a little under half tank. Not bad for a sedan this size. Tons of leg room. No problems so far at almost 40K. Hope it keeps up the good work.
Great comfortable car.
I purchased this car since I car pool to work. My car poolers love all the space and comfort the car has. I have had no major problems with the car at all. Once I thought that the air conditioner broke but all it needed was to be recharged. This car handles great on the highway and provides a smooth ride.
Great car!
Have loved the looks and ride of this car since I bought it. Was looking for a second car to go to work with and this has now become my primary car.
Great Car
I purchased this car used in 2000 and it has performed very well over the past 82,000 miles. Fuel ecomomy is great for such a large car. 28 to 29 mpg is comparable to a Honda Accord. Repairs have been low. A faulty sensor and a bad cooling fan have been the only repairs. My only complaints would be the discoloring head light covers and the sticking rear windows.
Iacoka's Iatola idea to save Chrysler??
I would give $4000 to have seen these reviews before I spent it on this junk- of-an-idea-car-design-to-save-Chrysler I signed the last paper & problems started. 4 wks later (bought the car oct. 24)it has been towed twice, broke down 30% of the time I've owned it, and has cost $1500 additional and counting. Who's the "Lame-Brain" that designed a motor with the water pump "inside" so it would practically destroy the motor when (not if) the water pump goes down. Mine did after 3 weeks. Many other problems arose before I could get it towed to the mechanic and he's got a fulltime job as long as even one Concorde is left on the road. Way to save a lost automobile corporation IaIdiot. What a curse.!
I Switched
Recently purchased a used Chrysler Concorde LXI. This car has all the bells and whistles anyone could imagine. I've never been a real Chrysler fan, with their past history of transmission problem. However, after taking this car for a ride I soon changed my mind. It seems like a very solid car that rides well. I am a 41 year old male with a wife and 4 young daughters. I am also 6' 4" tall and weigh 260 pounds. Plenty of room up front and back. The only problem that I had was a very small oil leak underneath. Took it to the garage several times and I still find fresh oil underneath the car. Overall, after driving this car for several months I believe I made a wise purchase.
Good Car
This car handles good, and drives very smooth. The only thing I have had go wrong is a ball joint. I had the car completly checked by GM certified personal. They said the car was in great condition and 95% was original. No problems just basic maintenance. If you don't take good care of it you can run into problems though. Must take care of transmission.
99 Concorde
