Luxury SUV
Excellent choice for full sized SUV. Very nicely equipped and well appointed on the inside. Only downside is the very poor design for the third row seat. There is no leg room what so ever as the seat cushion sits on the floor. Otherwise, a very nice vehicle. We traded our 2016 Tahoe LTZ for this new Tahoe Premier as we wanted a second row bench seat. We are much happier with the bench seat than the buckets from before. Our only regret is that Chevrolet has stopped installing "cooled" seats in favor of just "ventilated" seats now. They are just not as effective. An obvious cost cutting move but regrettable on a $70000 plus vehicle. Otherwise, it's the same as the 2016 version. Update: We still own the Tahoe and for the most part we are pleased with it. Winter is when we travel and are about to do some long distant trips in the next few months. The new and updated Chevrolet Traverse looks like it could easily replace the current Tahoe in that it is roomy, lower, has useable third row seat and costs on average $15-20000 less.

Just bought Tahoe
Honestly. We haven't bought a GM product in over 7 yrs. which my husband has had 2 Ford leases and I personally have had Honda minivans. We since bought a Tahoe and I am so in love. I am 4'11" and he is 6'4.5". I have test drove one a few years back and decided not to get it. The braking is amazing. It doesn't feel like I'm driving a big truck, which is a big deal to me. It also is such a smooth ride im impressed. The touch screen is super responsive, acceleration is a bit slow but that's the v8. But this also shifts down to a v4 at stop lights. (So cool) and when you shut off the engine it tells you to look in the back seat (kids safety). We searched for a second row bench (we have 3 kids) and all the seats are the same size. Meaning the middle seat is also very wide (and could fit an adult). I just had to say how much I am in love with this vehicle, they have done such a great job and we are not regretting buying it at all!

An Engineers view of my Tahoe
I'll start off with two big ones...Great Power and Handling. I've got the Max Tow package which came with a slightly lower gear ratio, but with a 6 Speed transmission, it still has a nice power band through the upper gears. The Front Strut and Rear coil spring is a tried and true combination proven by GM over several years now and with the addition of the magnetically controlled medium for the shocks it ensures a quick to respond firm, but comfortable ride. Fit and Finish of interior and exterior are on par with upper end European brands...which was not the case a couple decades ago. Go stop in and look at the clearances at the body seams and paint application on any current European model and then look at the Tahoe...the fit/finish speaks for itself. Dash and User interfaces are intuitive and easy to engage with, either bare handed or with gloves on. The various electronics applications are more than sufficient in coverage and are user-friendly to learn and utilize in making your travels easier and safer. This is my first vehicle with a back-up camera and after thinking I'd rarely trust it in day-to-day real life, I've found myself checking less and less with the "over-the-shoulder" verification assuming the camera can't totally be trusted with visibility and depth perception on things I thought it wouldn't be able to display accurately. (Just for peace of mind, I still do the quick looks over the shoulder if backing in between vehicles in parking areas). Electric seats, heaters, release controls, rear A/C, etc. all work well and placement of their controls is intuitive for the drivers and passengers. It has a drop-down DVD player that I know will never get used, but came as an option with the vehicle package ordered. I'd been a Grand Cherokee owner of a few models over the last 24 years, but the current Jeep lineup just couldn't match what the Tahoe had for attributes and its evolving pedigree. I'm an engineer with Pratt & Whitney and I've not typically been impressed with the layout of engine bays on any SUV's, but it appears obvious GM put some well-thought-out plans to the future accessibility regarding maintenance aspects of the Engine/Transmission/Drivetrain...everything is easily accessible and brackets/hoses/cables/etc. were all designed with long term viability with a mindful stance on areas where chafing could occur and extra clearances or anti-chafing materials applied. I put the Tahoe up on my garage lift (yes I did mention I'm an engineer and I inspect everything) shortly after purchasing and noticed the design/engineering of the undercarriage was well thought out as well. Strategically placed body and transmission mounts/component brackets/brake and fuel lines/control modules were all laid out with an eye on placement for accessibility and serious engineering utilized in the design for long term durability with thicker gauge steel on most everything(where it used to be thinner gauge metal and/or plastic). A great amount of thought was put toward corrosion control as well...when I was going over every inch of the underbody/frame with a high-power light, I couldn't find one area where there wasn't at least some form of long term engineered corrosion control used in maintaining the long term viability of a specific component/bracket/etc. I even noticed a full-sized spare wheel/tire tucked up nicely behind the rear axle with plenty of clearance around it as well...it even had a tumbler type lock securing the spare release cable. The Jack/Tire tools were stowed securely behind a quick release panel on the back left side of the cargo area. You'll need to keep your owners manual handy in the glove compartment, as it will explain(with pictures) exactly where everything is kept for getting your spare down and a potential flat changed. You'll have some fun exploring the finer touches on this vehicle, which I don't have time to cover in a short review, but rest assured this one is designed and built for long term viability and enjoyment for the owner. I also have some peace of mind on the aspect it is an American vehicle, and from what I've seen in examining the various attributes inside and out....I'd say GM has a winner with its Tahoe.

Was this a mistake?
We have had out 2017 Tahoe for two month. We only have 1500 miles on it. Up until last week I loved it... as we were away for a long three day weekend the SUV decided that every time we accelerated a cloud of smoke would come out. Of course, we were in the mountains so acceleration was all the time! After a day of this, finally an error code appeared to have the emission system services. We took the took the vehicle into the dealership the next work day. After running the error codes they said the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. After two days in for service, we got a call that they are still having the same problem with the vehicle after the replacement of the converter. They stated they didn't know what was wrong with the vehicle. Two months old and we have a major problem. Not happy with Chevy right now.

Nice, but choose options carefully
I had, and loved, a 2007 GMC Yukon years ago, and recently traded my 2014 Durango with loads of miles for this Tahoe. I love the exterior appearance. The front and middle seats are SUPER comfy, but the third row sits too close to the floor to accommodate anyone but kids. I don’t mind the trade off of the truck ride for the truck capability, but wouldn’t get the 22” wheels. They help with handling, but they make the ride a little harsh. Turning radius is amazingly tight for a big vehicle, making it easy to turn around. The rear view camera and parking sensors help infrequent drivers of the Tahoe more comfortable parking it. The lane departure system is a little obnoxious, nudging the wheel to put you back in the lane. Chevy/GM has done a nice job of improving the gas mileage over the years, but I feel like I’m filling the tank a lot due to the mileage and gas tank size. I didn’t have that issue with the Durango. The loading height at the rear hatch is pretty high. I’m tall, so no big issue, but I notice my wife struggle with it when she borrows it. The instrument panel and controls are well thought out, and all of the electronics are easy enough to figure out and use. I bought this to haul people and stuff, and tow a trailer once in a while. If I didn’t need to tow the trailer, I’d consider another V6 Durango or maybe the Traverse.
The Tahoe is no longer top-of-the-line.
We have owned a Sierra Denali, three Silverado‘s, a Yukon Denali and now a Tahoe. I went from the Yukon to an Expedition for 2 years, but after numerous small things breaking on the Expedition, I was thrilled to get rid of it and purchase a 2017 Tahoe. Beautiful car, smooth ride, But unfortunately it is clear that the quality is not there anymore. We are at 55,000 miles And it is now in the shop for the third time with fuel injection issues and injectors need to be replaced. Since we are Just out of our certified warranty, they cost $1300 each. I have had to service managers from two different dealerships tell me that this is a known issue and to expect to replace all eight of them eventually. My car went into the shop December 14 came home for one day and went right back in and here we are with it still in the shop on January 7. This is three weeks with no car. We have been told that it is GM’s policy that if you were outside of warranty, no loaner car will be issued no matter how long they keep your car. on the assembly line, they are putting in faulty injectors and it will be your responsibility to pay to replace them as they go bad. We have gone round and round and I am so extremely disappointed by Customer Care. They keep calling me telling me they have contacted the dealership for info and the dealership has not received one call from them. The dealership has contacted GM and is unable to get us any cost assistance even though this is a known issue. As for the air conditioning issues I see on these reviews, this is why my neighbor says she got rid of her 2017 Tahoe. The AC kept breaking and they kept having to pay to fix it. These cars are too expensive to be having to dump money into the house this early on. We have always bought GM vehicles because they are reliable and well-made cars. Unfortunately, I am going to get rid of this one and check out some other options for full-size SUVs. So disgusted at the amount of time and money that has been spent on this car I was so excited to have. If you are looking for a safe and dependable car for towing around kids or family road trips, I don’t recommend the Tahoe!

SADD Chevy!
Been having my 2016 year and half. Nothing but problems. After 8 months car wouldn’t start had to call triple A and get jumpstart several times. Chevy said bad battery but wanted me to pay. Next automatic lift gate stop working, had repaired and stop working again. Next touchscreen stop responding to touch. Next air condition vents keep popping out in backseat area. NOW air conditioner is blowing hot air! Soo angry!! Buyer Beware!!

Do not buy that vehicle before you read this.
2015-17 all GMC have problems with cracking ac lines and cost of fixing it estimated at $1000-$1400 . Google it by your self . It’s not about if , it’s about when . Your line will crack sooner or later . Same with front camera , one big failure , $1000 to fix it . It’s a sh.... truck . Have 2017 tahoe and fixing it every week spending thousand . Do your reaserch . It’s all over internet . Big class action lawsuit for AC . Front camer internal error , unable to fix , $1000 exchange by dealer only because you have to service it after installation with special tool . Forget about this car .

Expected more
Small details gone wrong that makes huge safety and comfort differences. Zero lighting inside mortgage. I've never seen this before. If we are unloading the Tahoe at night, there is zero visibility. The fold down DVD player completely blocks visibility through the back windshield in the rearview mirror. The DVD player and all of the interior from passenger to back of Tahoe seems cheaply made. My keyless entry remote are made of the cheapest lightweight plastic. My owners manual came in a little zip lock bag. I had to get my fog lights put in aftermarket because my $61k Tahoe didn't come with them. Navigation has limited functions. Phone system doesn't store favorites. 2 cup holders for a 7 seater. I've had 2 Yukons and a Durango that were made with more care and detail. For a vehicle at this price, Chevrolet really missed the mark.

AC out 6x! GM Nor Autonation will make it right
I bought my top of the line 2017 Tahoe in June 2017. I've had AC problems literally since day one. The awful "service" department has attempted to fix it SIX times! They usually replace the expansion valve and twice the compressor Last month being the latest. It's already making a very familiar hissing sound. But, it's still cold outside, so I won't know for sure until I'm driving kids around in a hot car in the Texas heat! Getting a loaner takes usually 2 weeks. I sometimes just go without, because sharing a vehicle that has ac with your husband is better than driving an expensive new Tahoe burning up in Texas in August! Or let's face it, any other month in Texas! I've attempted to speak with someone at Autonation. I get Tony who says he "isn't prepared to talk" about anything other than making the service appointment. When mentioning the Lemon Law, he says I'll have to take it up with GM directly. #newchevytahoenoac. #autonation6failedserviceattempts. I know every company will have product issues from time to time. It's how it's handled (or not handled) that is the telltale of a horrible company.

Will never buy a Chevrolet again
I will never purchase a Chevrolet vehicle again. My 3 year old (originally $60,000+) vehicle has paint defects that the manufacturer is refusing to fix. The paint is literally oxidizing. Through my research, I have found that this a common issue. For this to occur on a vehicle that is only three years old and in otherwise excellent condition is ridiculous. There is an obvious manufacturer defect that I am now stuck with due to no fault of my own. Chevrolet refuses to assist with the issue. May I also mention that the brakes completely failed on the vehicle also due to a manufacturing defect. I was very patient with this situation and did not complain about the hassle of having to leave the vehicle in the shop for repairs for several weeks as the vehicle was deemed unsafe to operate. I was advised not to purchase a Chevrolet vehicle by others but figured I would give it a chance as I have owned many in the past, three to be exact. I have learned my lesson and now I feel that I need to inform others of the quality of their vehicles and customer service.
Internet Diamond
I bought this Tahoe off the internet sight unseen as I live in Phoenix and the Tahoe was in Maryland. The purchase price was below the Phoenix local market and worth paying the shipping fee. I trusted the dealer to disclose any damage so I could make an informed decision as to what repairs it may need. The Tahoe is a 2017 with only 5800 miles so I figured how much damage could there be. Mechanically it is fine. However the Tahoe’s short life as a rental took its toll. Some of the trim was damaged and the DVD player was missing. This was not mentioned by the salesman. When the Tahoe arrived I discovered the damage and was somewhat disappointed. I paid about $600.00 to have the damaged parts replaced. I still need to purchase a new DVD but for now that can wait. Even with the initial disappointment. The Tahoe is a beautiful truck and a pleasure to drive

Toxic SUV!
I got my Tahoe used Oct 2021. It only had 54k miles which is not bad for a 2017 i needed space so i traded in my Highlander for my Now Suv Tahoe. Worse mistake of my life! The only thing good about these cars are looks! had to replace the a/c condenser within 3 months $1,000! and now its still making growling noises when the a/c is still on so I'm thinking either actuator or worse scenario compressor just great. There is also rattling noises when i accelerate its just the most toxic car ever owned and i honestly wanted one so bad because it seemed so spacious and big never thinking of the big problems it was going to give me. all of these noises are common in tahoes now that i read more reviews on catalytic converters, a/c. Never again GM. such a waste.

The Premiere is a waste of money
This suv rides like a boat its "special" suspension is garbage. You literally can get sea sick. Its acceleration is very poor too. Good for families but honestly this is way too much money. I had a Dodge Durango that was way better and the technology far surpasses Chevy. Can't wait for my lease to be up.

Do not buy without knowing this
So we just bought one for our family of 5. Second row is huge which is great for three kids. Unfortunately we assumed all seats had head rests. WRONG. Chevy have decided in their wisdom that the middle seat passengers safety is none of their concern and saved 10 dollars and have made seats with no head rests (and it's not even an option). I have reached out to Chevy and they don't seem to care as it is not mandated by federal law. Well Toyota /Nissan/Hyundai/BMW/Honda/Acura... do care and they all have headrests for the middle sears in their SUV's. Shame on you Chevy.

Best SUV you can buy
Drive other SUVs, then drive a Tahoe with 20” wheels. The 22” wheels ride is a bit choppy. I have a 2017 Tahoe Premier and I love it! I had a tree limb fall on it and it needed repairs on the top and small scuffs all over. While it was being repaired I rented a Ford Expedition and a Nissan Murano. While the Ford has lots of positive attributes, I does not compare to my Tahoe. My previous vehicle was a 2007 Tahoe that I drove the wheels off of. Love these vehicles and will get another when this one has run its course.

Our 5th Tahoe
We love these trucks! Having driven its Dodge and Ford counterparts, there is simply no comparion. In my opinion, the Tahoe handles and rides more like a car than its competitors. We love the design, the power, the utility, the comfort, and the minimal maintenance that comes with the Tahoe. This is our 5th. We have never had an issue with any of our Tahoes, and hope our good fortune continues. I cannot see ourselves without one. We're a family of two, but we've always had large dogs - and the Tahoe is a perfect fit for all of us.

Way too many repairs for newer car
Radiator and A/C condenser had to be replaced —the radiator around 55k miles and condenser at 66k (just beyond the recall period of 60k miles for this part because of defective seal). Also, dealer keeps saying fuel injector code doesn’t get triggered while driving, but have brought in twice for subpar performance when accelerating quickly (merging onto highway)—the vehicle hesitates with gas pressed down, then jumps/jerks (rpm’s over 3k)

Smooth and comfortable
I tow an RV, run a business, run the family everywhere with my Tahoe, and it's spectacular. Snow, Rain, ugly or nice. Doesn't matter. Cooling seats in the summer are awesome. Heated seats and stearing wheel in winter is fantastic. This is my 3rd Tahoe, and I've no doubt I'll get another one when it's time to upgrade.

Great SUV!
Spacious, comfortable and reliable. Great SUV! This is a vehicle for those that value space, ride height and safety. At 72,000 miles no repairs with the exception of vacuuming and refilling the AC refrigerant. Just had the roof and hood repainted due to poor factory Clearcoat.

A huge let down!!
I purchased my 2017 Tahoe with 21k miles. Just after the warranty expired, the air conditioning went out. Then, at 112k, the transmission went out. After 5 years, the center console latch broke with no way of getting it open. I’d have to pay for a whole new console!! Recently, it’s giving me problems again!! It’s not driveable, until we figure out what’s wrong with it. Very tired of having problems all throughout my ownership of this vehicle. I had a 2001 Toyota Sienna that never gave me any issues whatsoever. I had over 200k miles on it.
